And now I look at the writer I've got to wonder if she (Kate Gray) was writing all those Majora's Mask Articles for ONM - back when they were calling it Zelda Gaiden - that I would devour on a monthly basis until this game was released! Funny old world.
Reading this article going "yep", next point "yep", next point "yep". Hard to argue with to be honest. My opinion is the same... I love the old stuff, I still want the sequels, I enjoy most of the remakes, but I need to see more risk and new IP's.
1. N64 ports of Ocarina and (hopefully) Majora available immediately. 2. Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD ports (Skyward Sword too?) 3. Metroid Prime Trilogy HD 4. Further Animal Crossing support (new features) 5. New Mario Party or WarioWare 6. Hollow Knight Silksong release date 7. Crash for Smash 8. "One final announcement..." - Breath of the Wild 2 Trailer with title.
And to be honest I'd be happy with like two of those at this point.
The only reason I can think of for not announcing release dates with a good bit of notice is that the dates just aren't totally concrete yet. Covid has messed everything up and they must not want to commit to anything that might end up changing. If covid didn't happen there is no way we'd have nothing on the slate after April, particularly given the Switch's current momentum!
I'd really like something more powerful. Putting hundreds of hours into the PS5 since launch makes it harder and harder to go back to Switch, even though I'm a big proponent of "graphics don't matter" it's the load times, and the frame rates that we need to see improve.
It seems like it would have sold bucket loads at launch if they had just released it at this price. But hey, maybe it sold bucket loads at launch anyway. EA know what they're doing I suppose, the absolute money grabbing b*stards that they are.
@rjejr I’m from Scotland and we’ve got our own problems, but yours do certainly make the news over here haha. So I’m not entirely ignorant but yes, I’ll refrain from commenting any further
I don't know how this looked on the other consoles but this looked truly terrible in what they showed. You would hope the thing runs buttery smooth given how downgraded it must be visually.
I'm not a big fan of the cloud streaming thing, mainly because I've tried Stadia and it runs like crap, but I've just gone through the Control demo using the streaming service and it's really really smooth. I mean, am I going to pay £35 for it? I've not answered that myself yet to be honest.
@Taarna Yeah I understand it's a good way to win, but it's like being that guy in a Battle Royale who hides in a box until there are only a couple of players left or something. I don't see where the fun is. Each to their own I suppose but it's not the way I want to play it and makes it near impossible for me to win. No big drama, that's just the reason I'll not be playing it anymore.
Really enjoyed playing this for about 20 minutes last night until I stayed on to spectate after I died and realised that every single person left was just repeating level 1-2 by going to the warp zone at the end of the level, every. single. time.
Fine if some people want to play the game this way, but that's really not where the fun is for me and I didn't expect it to be for many other people but apparently I'm wrong. Think they should just get rid of the warp zone and encourage actual level progression instead of people just learning to beast a single level in the game.
I don't think the past two Partner Directs were much good, but if they're going to come along this often that that's fine by me. Not every announcement is for everyone!
What can I say? I didn't fancy the original Hyrule Warriors game, but this looks awesome. I even got a little bit of that same chill I got watching that first story trailer for BotW. Yeah, I'm in.
I honestly think this was such an average game. It pained me to have to keep going back to play it just to get it finished because I can’t leave things half done.
@Grahamthecracker Hey. So the GC had pressure sensitive triggers that determined how much water shot out of the FLUDD, and the Switch doesn't have the pressure sensitive triggers! When you're playing on the GC you use the pressure triggers to determine the height you go to when using FLUDD as a jet pack type thing. And also to control the power of the hose (so the distance the water shoots out) when just using it to clean graffiti and stuff.
I'm really excited to see what is on offer here (if/when it's announced). If we could get a really polished looking version of Sunshine with some decent QOL adjustments made that would see me through this dry spell for sure.
I think people forget that these Directs aren't just for the die hard fans who are sitting around speculating about what Nintendo have coming this year, or those expecting the big Direct this week. There's a big audience of casual players for some of these games and these Partner Showcases aren't going anywhere by the looks of it, so that's that. Their existence doesn't take away from the potential for first party games, in fact it reinforces it. I doubt they would separate out third party games if first party ones didn't exist.
So whilst I get it, it's disappointing seeing this when all we want is that full-fat Nintendo Direct... we're still going to get it. This one just wasn't for us.
In the position I'm in, I'll be buying a PS5 in November. I missed out on most of the Xbox One/PS4 generation and if this means suddenly we'll start getting more really competent PS4/Xbone ports for the Switch then that sounds great to me. I'll keep my PS5 for cutting edge graphics stuff, and my Switch becomes even more of an amazing handheld experience. It's all winning for me.
@Crockin I think we'll see that rumoured Direct this week to be honest. Assuming this "Management Briefing Session" is when they'll review internally their plans for the holiday season etc. then they don't want that to be where leaks come from.
Alternatively, they might just not have anything up their sleeve...
@Crono1973 Where I’m from when someone comes up with an idea, starts a project, enjoys the work put into that project, and then likes the end product, well, stupid just isn’t an applicable word.
I've gone off Animal Crossing in all honesty, but I'm sure there's still a crazy number of people out there playing it. Nintendo must be thinking about paid DLC after they hit that 1-year free update mark. Although they've done nothing for Mario Kart Deluxe and I assume that's the number 1 best seller? They really are a mystery sometimes.
Also, if they're expecting to beat these profits year-on-year then they really need to get to announcing some new games...
@Pablo17 100% agree with you there. I recently re-downloaded it with the intention of trying to get involved. Watched a few youtube videos, thought I was all set to go. Dived back in and... just as overwhelmed as I was the first time. Bought AC: Black Flag, haven't looked back haha.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask Is A Testament To What Nintendo Is Capable Of When It Gets Weird
I'm trying not to be biased because Majora's Mask is all time for me, but I do think this is the best article I've read on Nintendo Life.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2021 Nintendo Direct
I've got to think that things like BotW2 and Splatoon 3 are intended as launch titles for the Switch Pro at this point.
Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th February
Obligatory predictions:
1. N64 ports of Ocarina and (hopefully) Majora available immediately.
2. Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD ports (Skyward Sword too?)
3. Metroid Prime Trilogy HD
4. Further Animal Crossing support (new features)

@Cosats Yeah I hadn't thought about that - hadn't had the experience of it given everyone in my games was just playing the first couple of levels.

I want to see more on this - how is FLUDD going to work in Sunshine, and do we need to use the motion controls for Galaxy?
