Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 4th September

Hoping for that Metroid Trilogy as always, but maybe they'll hold off until a bit closer to the Prime 4 release.

As a side, I just checked how long the average time was to beat Metroid Prime and it's like 18 hours to 100%. Pretty sure I put like a hundred into it as a kid! I must be useless.

@ryancraddock Quick questions just based off of the sub-heading "Friday can't come soon enough"...

Nintendolife get a review copy a couple of weeks early, but do you just get the one copy or download code? Like, if you aren't the person who writes the review, do you actually have to wait until Friday to play this..? Just curious as to how that works!

Re: Switch SNES Controller Confirmed, Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games Next?

@thatawesomedude

1.) I paid 6 pound for a year subscription. Played 50 hours of Tetris. I’ve had my money’s worth of online and then some. Anything else now is “free” content as far as I’m concerned. Why do they call it free DLC? - “I already paid for the game, how is it free?” Well, because you just got something new and didn’t have to pay anything extra for it. That’s assuming they don’t hike the price of online up, which is within their remit to do of course but outside the scope of this response. Your question doesn’t make sense anyway, - assuming you did understand the use of the quotation marks to mean it’s not really free but as good as free in my book. I don’t speak for everyone but since it’s my comment you were replying to it would be safe for you to assume that I do speak for myself.

2.) Calling it an emulated version implies it’s a lesser version than the original which of course isn’t true. It will more than likely have new save states available and the rewind feature. So what you’ll get is an enhanced version of A Link to the Past. And they’re comparable in the same way any top down Zelda title is comparable to another. If you think graphics make the game then you’re on the wrong console.

3.) No one, and that’s part of the discussion I had if you read my other comments before jumping in for an angry little rant.

Re: Switch SNES Controller Confirmed, Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games Next?

@Duncanballs My thoughts were that this would be a new app altogether, separate from the NES one. Either that or they'd have to change the name of that one (also not out of the question obviously).

But genuinely thought it would launch with a pile of games, then add 2 more onto it every month still. For a year, then N64. If they just start releasing 2 per month without an initially larger drop then okay I suppose as long as they're big name titles!

Re: The Switch Version Of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets Rated By The ESRB

@Lordplops Not sure I get what you mean. I got it on the PS4 for a tenner, don't find the time to sit down in front of the PS4 too much so never got round to playing it. I have seen the game in action on the PS4 and it looks stunning, but know it's not going to look like that on the Switch.

So I'm hoping that the 10/10 ratings across the board weren't based too much on the attractiveness of the game on other platforms and that it also stands up with lesser visuals on the Switch where I'll actually be able to put hours into it.

Re: Deals: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Starter Pack Drops To A Ridiculous £10.99 In The UK

It was definitely a mistake to bring a new toy to life game to the market so soon after the whole genre died on its arse. Okay it's not exactly the same as Skylanders or Disney Infinity, but it just always seemed like this was destined to fail due to the public perception of these types of game. Shame if it was decent.

I'll be picking this up (if it can be fully played without needing to take the stupid toys out the box).

Re: The Switch Version Of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets Rated By The ESRB

I picked this up on the PS4 in a sale a while back and haven't touched it really but that's likely the fault of the PS4 not being portable (wtf Sony?).

Anyway, I'm hoping there's a lot more to this game than the fact it was beautiful to look at on other systems... because it ain't gonna be so beautiful on Switch. Fingers crossed.

Re: You Can Now (Unofficially) Run Android On Nintendo Switch

@YessMasster No but if they didn't say how it was done then it's a non-story. I see someone do something interesting, I want to know how they did it. Doesn't mean I'm gonna go and do it. Again, as per my comments above, if your issue is with your interpretation of the tone of the article then I can't argue with that.

Re: You Can Now (Unofficially) Run Android On Nintendo Switch

frabbit

@GrailUK Fair enough it's not a perfect analogy haha. But still, if you read an article about a bank robbery and it was just a headline that said "Person Robs Bank" you'd be asking where the journalism was in that. Similarly, if this article just said "Android on Switch" with a video of someone running it then the lack of detail/background would be questioned for sure.

I take your point about the tone if that's how you've read it.

Re: You Can Now (Unofficially) Run Android On Nintendo Switch

@spirit_flame Well do you want your news picked selectively or do you want all the information out there. If it exists, it can be written about as far as I'm concerned.

I don't see that the article glorifies the activity, which if so would be a different issue. It's just reporting the fact.

Re: Random: Everyone On This Southwest Flight Got A Nintendo Switch For Free

frabbit

@Timsworld2 A valid critique maybe, but misplaced. The "King" thing is clearly a joke. I don't even know what the mistake was in the other article, but it seems pointless to bring it up in this one, does it not?

Also, I don't think I've flipped out, or twisted anything at all.

Is there something wrong with the quality of this article in your opinion? If not, what's the basis of your "quality over quantity" comment?

Re: Use Fortnite Chat In Docked Mode With This Officially Licensed Switch Pad

Best option is probably to have a number of 3.5mm jack hubs installed around the room that are wired up through the house's internal infrastructure so they're not visible, terminating close to the Switch Dock.

With say, 7 or 8 of these hubs around your room all you would have to do is switch your headphones into whichever jack is closest to your seating position.

Not iPhone headphones though obviously. Unless you have an adapter. As a "just in case", I'd get 7 or 8 of those as well.

Hope this helps.
