Re: Lengthy Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Trailer Unloads Heaps Of New Information

frabbit

Visually striking. As in, I was immediately struck by how terrible this game looks visually. The Pokemon look okay but good god those landscapes, that frame rate, that windmill. It’s going to look better on the Switch’s smaller screen but I think the screen would need to be Gameboy screen sized for this to actually look good.

I just can’t believe this is how Pokemon has moved with the times. Sure it’ll still sell millions and millions of copies though and we’ll get the same thing next year 👍

Re: Random: We've Been Waiting Over Half A Decade For A "New" Mainline Zelda Game

frabbit

Honestly it’s been so long and my Switch is so knackered I’m ready for this to be announced for the Switch 2. I love my Switch but I’ve played too much ps5 and series X now that it’s like going back to a 360. Again, I love it, and I appreciate graphics aren’t the be all and end all, but I was impressed 6 years ago and doubt I’ll be impressed with more of the same today.

Re: Poll: What Are You Hoping To See In The Nintendo Direct Mini?

frabbit

Im pretty much over playing third party games on Switch that are available elsewhere at this point, my Switch is only getting any playtime still because of first party games.

That said, I’ll be buying and re-playing Outer Wilds when it comes. One of my favourite games of the last decade.

Re: Feature: Will We Finally See These Games In The Not-E3 Nintendo Direct?

frabbit

Metroid Prime easily wins the poll, but I have no expectations that we’ll see it. Literally none. It doesn’t even cross my mind anymore. It’ll get here when it gets here, and my money is on it being a “Switch 2” title regardless.

The one thing that I truly want for Switch is an achievements/trophy equivalent. Again, no chance at all but that’s what I want. I’m fresh out of current games that I want to play so I’d replay some if I had an incentive to do so. And before people say that fun should be the objective, I literally get fun out of the challenge of unlocking trophies. So… I’ll just nip that in the bud there 😂

Re: Review: Bugsnax - A Charming Idea That Struggles In Execution

frabbit

I'd have given it a solid 6 on PS5 but with the technical issues a 5 is likely apt on Switch. It is pretty repetitive which put me off going for the platinum but it's not a long game and if you can get it cheap (and they sort out the technical issues) it's actually a fair bit of fun.

Re: Review: Gal*Gun: Double Peace - One To Avoid Playing On Public Transport

frabbit

@Itachi2099 I think the point about playing the game in public is included in the summary for comic effect to be honest, but if not then I do agree it shouldn't be a point against the game - because you don't have to play it portably.

However I do think it's pretty much a rule of common decency in most societies, that if you're consuming media of a sexual sort that you do it in private.

It's not because the content is offensive in its own right, or because anyone has a problem with you being attracted to Japanese girls in skirts, it's because the feelings that the content is designed to elicit in the viewer can be perceived as inappropriate or threatening to others around you.

I'd feel uncomfortable sitting near someone on a bus who was blatantly watching porn just as I'd feel uncomfortable sitting next to someone on a bus looking at anime girls in skirts and shooting them with pheromones to enjoy them having an o*****.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, but I'm 100% saying that if the content of the game is as described in this review, then it's inappropriate to consume in public.

Re: Poll: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

frabbit

@psyraven76 well I’ve not played the game so don’t have a lot else to go on other than the visuals at the minute. Like I say, I want to want it but I’ve been imagining this game for 20 something years so when I finally see it and it’s not impressive to me, it’s hard to totally buy in right away. Still, glad you’re enjoying and let’s be honest, I’ll probably have it bought as soon as I finish work.

Re: Review: Banjo-Kazooie - Peerless Platforming Perfection, And Now Available On Switch

frabbit

@Nanaki and no offence intended. I take your points and certainly don’t want to spend the evening arguing.

@sirlordrob I submit, if this is a 10/10 for you of course that’s as valid as my opinion. I didn’t mean to imply otherwise.

@KIRO I suppose it comes down to the perspective we’re taking when writing/reading reviews. Maybe my issue is with review scores in general. I’ll think on it.

Have a good night all.

Re: Review: Banjo-Kazooie - Peerless Platforming Perfection, And Now Available On Switch

frabbit

@Tchunga Then just repost the original review as a historical article rather than updating it. It’s a confusing narrative - an updated review that doesn’t update the opinion in any way to reflect the modern gamer. What’s the point?

Whatever, I don’t want to argue about it and I don’t want to disrespect the writer but the above is my general thoughts on the overall existence of this updated review.

Re: Nintendo's American Branch Didn't Like The Idea Of GameCube Being Purple

frabbit

I love the purple, and I loved the console, but I do remember having the pi** ripped out of me by some of my pals at the time for it. And when they saw cell shaded Link in Wind Waker that really sealed the deal for them - no chance they were picking up this "baby console". Idiots.

It won them around eventually with Smash Bros. Melee, but they still never bought a console. Hard to say NoA were completely wrong, regardless of the quality of the system and the games...

Re: Anniversary: Goodness Me, Is The GameCube Really 20 Years Old?

frabbit

Just to reminisce for a minute... my dad queued at midnight for the Gamecube outside some Game store in Glasgow and was one of the first to get it, so we got a free game and loads of merch including an adult sized Gamecube t-shirt. Eleven year old me woke up the next morning to find the GC at the bottom of my bed in a surprise that, honestly, is still one of my fondest memories. I then wore the super oversized t-shirt to a school football tournament that day, along with a red Fred Durst NY cap. I was a complete loser, and it was awesome. Friday 3rd May 2002. Great day

Re: Stardew Valley Has Sold Over 15 Million Copies

frabbit

Those are some insane numbers but it's well deserved success. When I look at the playtime against this game on my Switch I'm consistently surprised at how much I've gotten out of that £10 price or whatever it was when I bought it years ago. Crazy value and a top indie!

Re: Poll: What's The Best Metroid Game?

frabbit

That first Metroid Prime game blew my 12 year old mind at the time. I still remember it so fondly and can't wait for the inevitable Prime Trilogy on Switch.

Prime 2 I enjoyed but not to the same extent. And Prime 3 I couldn't deal with because of the motion controls.

Re: Anniversary: The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Is Now 21 Years Old In Japan

frabbit

Playing this game late into the night with my brother, me on the top bunk and him on the bottom. Trying to be quiet so our parents didn't come in and shut off the N64 before we could even save the game. Travelling through time again and again until we got that notebook just right and brought Anju and Kafei back together...

I have nothing but the best memories of this game and hope I can play through again on the Switch before too long.
