Re: Blaster Master And Zelda II Arrive On The Switch Online NES Service This Month

frabbit

Sony and Microsoft have people on the edge of their seats every month waiting to find out what games they're getting. Nintendo drops a couple of 150 year old games mid-month onto a service everyone has stopped using. I'm glad I'm not just a Nintendo gamer when it comes to their online service because its getting a bit embarrassing now.

(I know it's dirt cheap by the way, Nintendo. Take more of my money and give me better shit...)

Re: Random: Japanese Smash Bros. Fans Are Now Obsessing Over Curry-Induced Female Blushing

On the topic of ratings... The official ESRB rating description is quite funny:

Rating Summary: This is a fighting game in which players engage in brawls with characters from Nintendo and third-party franchises. Players punch, kick, and perform super attacks (e.g., giant laser blasts, rocket barrages) against cartoony opponents to knock them off platforms; a handful of characters also swords, blasters, mallets, and firearms while fighting. Battles can be frenetic at times, with screen-shaking effects and large explosions. During the course of the game, players can unlock 2D character art that depicts female characters in revealing outfits (e.g., short skirts, deep cleavage, low-cut tops). One character emits flatulence gas clouds to attack opponents.

Re: NES And SNES Classic Consoles Won't Be Restocked After Holidays, "Once They Sell Out, They’re Gone"

frabbit

@Scottwood101 I'm in the same camp. I actually don't think we're going to get "free" N64 games or anything after SNES.

I think we'll get a service similar to what we've got for the NES at the moment, but with SNES games - because that's a real incentive to get Switch Online.

As far as N64, GC and Wii games go... the more I think about it, the more unlikely it seems these will ever be on a similar "free" service. It would basically mean that Nintendo couldn't ever make money from these games by selling them individually again. Like, no one in their right mind is going to buy N64 games on the next generation of console if they were literally given away for free on the last generation. In my opinion Nintendo will never give up their right to sell the legacy content individually on every console iteration (excluding NES clearly, and hopefully excluding SNES).

Re: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe File Size Revealed, Just 100MB Larger Than On Wii U

frabbit

@Agramonte This is something I hadn't really thought of before - people who literally traded their WiiU in for cash to put towards the Switch. Yeah, I can see how it would be annoying to feel like you're supporting Nintendo by buying the new console and getting hit with a lot of the same games again at a high price.

I suppose the other side of the coin is that you just don't have to buy the ports if you don't want them. I agree with @Mogster 's comment above that it's probably different teams doing the porting work to those creating new content, so hopefully it isn't realistically slowing down the release of new titles either.

Pretty easy to see the arguments from both side in my opinion, and it's got to be frustrating for many.

For me though, I didn't give the WiiU enough of a go - I'd say I skipped it basically (although I did buy one to play through Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess before BOTW came out) - so I'm pretty happy about the ports!

Re: Review: Abzu - A Gorgeous And Thought-Provoking Journey That All Switch Owners Should Embark On

@ThanosReXXX Morning mate. Okay, this has gone too far haha. I understand why this is a confusing point, and maybe I tried too hard to defend my initial statement. Apologies to @EasyDaRon if I came across as yesterday, my back was obviously up.

Now, I'm going off the game I've played most recently, which is Red Dead Redemption 2. I was playing it last night for a few hours, wandering around camp, holding in X for like 20 minutes just to walk at anything other than a snail's pace. Still enjoying the game by the way - I didn't say I wouldn't play something because I didn't like holding in the same button for a long period of time. Except, now I'm enjoying the game and at the same time I literally have a sore thumb.

I'm not sure what other justification I need to give for finding it annoying to hold in the same button the whole time I'm playing a game. I didn't say I hate it, or that I'd never play this game, or that I'd retire from gaming altogether. I simply said it was annoying... because it gives me a sore thumb haha. I don't understand the problem with that statement.

Re: Review: Abzu - A Gorgeous And Thought-Provoking Journey That All Switch Owners Should Embark On

frabbit

@EasyDaRon Well no, I need to push an accelerator to drive a car so pushing a pressure sensitive trigger simulates this. I obviously don't take issue with that...

And holding a button and holding forward an analogue stick is different.

I haven't played Abzu and likely won't because I didn't appreciate Journey either. But here is someone discussing the control method and saying it's annoying having to hold in the button to swim, and here I am agreeing that it sounds annoying.

Re: More Than Ten Games Are Being Announced At The 2018 Game Awards

frabbit

I think we'll get news on Skyward Sword (released during the show..?), and what I really want is a Prime Trilogy HD but I don't see both ports being announced at the same time as they'll be trying not to be seen as just a port machine. So, one or the other is fine with me for the moment too.

Skyward Sword in a bundle with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess would be tidy also...

Re: UK Charts: Black Friday Deals Boost Sales Across The Board, But Rivals Outperform Nintendo

frabbit

@nocdaes I'm not sure if that's the case. You may be right, I just don't know.

But say you're right, and Bethesda had the discounted Black Friday price for Fallout 76 planned well in advance... does that not say something worse about the game? That says to me that Bethesda knew they were on to a loser. I mean, they could have released it a couple weeks earlier - not like it would have been any more broken if they had.

I have bought LOL toys/products/things for my niece and I still have no idea what it's all about.

I spent, I think, £15 on this little party popper type thing. It's pink, plastic, you pull a cord and confetti stuff falls out. You just can't buy entertainment like that.

Oh no, you can actually, it's £15 and it's a waste of my money. Still, looking forward to buying more of it around Christmas...

Re: Review: Warframe - A Technical Marvel That Pushes The Boundaries Of Free-To-Play Action On Switch

frabbit

I have given it a couple of hours so far and have to say I am just consistently impressed by the work Panic Button do with ports. And this game in particular really looks worthwhile (all credit to original devs of course), if a bit daunting.

If I didn't have my hands full with Pokemon, Dead Souls, and Red Dead I'd be all over this, but I'll for sure be making some progress on it over the next few weeks.
