Nintendo Live is taking place this weekend in Tokyo, and it seems a statue based on Link in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is present.
It gives fans perhaps their best look yet at Link's new character model and the mysterious new changes to one of his arms. This shot was taken at a promotional section of Nintendo Live, simply featuring a banner and the Link statue (via Game Watch).
Nintendo's most recent update about the new Legend of Zelda game was delivered last month during a Direct presentation. During the broadcast, it revealed the official title of the game and also locked in the release date of 12th May 2023.
Here's a bit about what players can expect, straight from the PR:
"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: In addition to the vast lands of Hyrule, the latest entry in the storied Legend of Zelda series will take you up into the skies and an expanded world that goes beyond that! Look forward to Link’s massive adventure starting again when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, drops for Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023."
What do you think of this Link statue? Looking forward to the new Zelda adventure next year? Tell us below.

Who coined the term "Life Sized" anyway? Definitely a human.
What about the life of ants or elephants?
@Astral-Grain Life-sized version of an ant is the size of a real ant, life-sized version of a Hylian named link is the size of a real Hylian named Link...
Wonder if this is what one of the new Amiibo will look like….

@AX-7 I suppose "1:1 Scale" just doesn't sound as cool as "Life Sized"
That person in the photo has absolutely nailed the pose - bravo.
Wow im loving that arm.
Link had the wiiu gamepad in breath of the wild, will nintendo release a link powerglove for tears of the kingdom ?
I want this Link in Smashbros. 🤩
When this Zelda arrives i will upgrade to a new switch (Oled).
I was hoping we would get to play mostly with Links new toga outfit but with this and the box art I'm not so sure now. Looks cool tho.
Well that’s effing awesome. Still scared to get too hyped about this game given it’s using that same map that I’ve spent 300+ hours in already. Also since it’s taken so much inspiration from Skyward Sword which is my personal least favourite in the whole series.
Can’t wait for May 2023.
But I’m old and don’t wanna waste me life away 😂😂😂
@The-Chosen-one
Upgraded to OLED just this week got the white one with Splatoon 3.
Pretty neat. I wonder if they'll sell more statues like this? I remember a while ago, this very site reported on someone making and selling life-size Ryza statues for $25,000 apiece. They wanted to sell ten of them in order to put it into full production.
It may be a full year's salary for me, but what I would give for one of those! Ditto with a life-size Link statue.
Pretty neat that we now get a better look at his arm, even if it is just a statue.
if it was 1997 and this was spaceworld they would probably have a demo for it too, but sadly its 2022 and no demos allowed
May can't come soon enough.
that statue is pretty neat though.
Pay close attention to hit right hand: the fingernails are much longer than on Link's regular arm. This to me implies that rather than some sort of enhancement or bionic Link has become possessed by something evil which we got from the earlier trailers. 'Unkept Hair' Link also has the same arm so theories about playing as Ganon I think are DOA. It looks like whatever evil did grab him has been contained with Sheikah technology.
However I do wonder if Link has been possessed by Ganon, perhaps inheriting the Triforce of Power? Maybe he speaks to you throughout the game like Fi?
Wait does this mean that blue hand from an earlier teaser is not Ganon's hand but link's hand?! 😦
Edit: i've now rewatched the trailer and found out that the hand was resurrecting Ganon. But why would Link resurrect Ganon?! I am so confused..
10/10 for the cosplay effort.
Looks like Nintendo put more effort into making a Tiers of the Kingdom statue than convincing us why its a sequel and why it couldn't it just be cheap DLC
Is Link gonna have his own version of Samus' arm cannon now? Cause that would actually be pretty bad ass.
Waiting for the "statue breakdown" videos to appear.
@RadioHedgeFund since Malice infected Link in the game, i believe, not only Link is trying to repair the Master Sword, but also prevent the Malice corruption to take control of him and do something terrible to him, like Retro Studios did with Samus with the Phazon corruption in Metroid Prime 3.
Maybe it’s just me but I’m getting serious Ghirahim vibes from Link’s arm.
@RadioHedgeFund my theory is that when the malice grabbed the Master Sword (plus Link's hand) the green swirling magic hand holding Ganondorf back (which had earlier rescued link from the falling platform) had to possess Link's arm to prevent him being overcome by malice. That's what makes most sense in my mind considering the green colour of the magic and the fact that Nintendo tends to colour code their heroes and villains.
I could of course be interpreting the jumbled up trailers in the wrong order though
Edit to add: I watched some trailer analysis videos back when the previous trailers released and the reason I think falling happens first is because the green magic hand grabs falling Link by the left hand and it's his right hand which is possessed, which is the one being attacked by the malice. Doesn't make sense to me for the falling to happen after those events.
@OldManHermit
No wonder why we have yet to see him use a bow - he doesn't need one 😆
@PtM “The jolly candy-like button!”
