Re: Capcom Reaffirms Commitment To Resurrecting Its Vast Catalogue Of "Dormant IP"

filterclay

As an arcade player of the original Marvel Super Heroes back in 1996 and the Vs. series - and these Capcom brawlers were a huge success in Brazilian arcades at that time, as well as the Neo Geo titles - I had a super smile on my face when the trailer revealed the Infinity Stones!

For me, it meant Capcom was serious about bringing back the best from its past!

Anyway, it will certainly be a great fighting game since they are the masters of the genre, so I hope to see such dedication to another titles like a new Breath of Fire and more daring attempts that could be developing a shmup nowadays, you know, more arcade stuff like the old days.

And Capcom, please understand, it has been forever without a Darkstalkers game!(Although you always teases us with just Morrigan)

Re: Video: Looking Back At Metal Slug, Everyone's Favourite Run And Gun Shooter

filterclay

A nice and passionate episode from this series! Congrats to Mr. Ibbertson!!
Well, it is not difficult to fall for such labor of love to pixels, game music and shooter gameplay!
The state of art for 2D action game!
And one that is almost on almost every console, expect our 3DSs that are begging for a release, old or new, which certainly will add to our collection of great action games on the handheld.
It will be much more charming than that Steam version we still play.
Still hoping for it, SNK! Make it happen!

Re: Talking Point: Ports vs. Sequels On The Nintendo Switch

filterclay

IMO, Nintendo may be working at full on sequels which stays near the excellent games presented on WiiU - its legacy of high quality games may not be ignored - improving on the areas they can or bringing features unique to the NS and still not revealed.

At a later point on NS life we may see ports and remasters, from the Gamecube to the WiiU.

Re: Mega Drive 'Limited Edition' Console Heading to Brazil in 2017

@btnassu Grato por compartilhar!

Interesting the idea of replicating the old hardware using new parts as much as possible closer to the original. But it has compatibility issues, so it is a pitty we wont be playing the incredible conversion of Virtua Racing or Sonic 3 & Knuckles - nor they are in the SD card with the other games on the list. There was a question about selling cartridges again, personally I think it will be hard to happen, but seems Tectoy is trying something.

@retro_player_22

And about the gaming scene here: it is pretty much like the world wide market, lots of interest in current gen, a lots more of last gen console and games - like btnassu already told - and things always going on slowly, because video gaming here in Brazil is an expensive hobby, unfortunately!

Re: Mega Drive 'Limited Edition' Console Heading to Brazil in 2017

filterclay

The internet has told me that Tectoy Master System (which you can see at the same store) is selling about hundreds of thousands here in Brazil.

Now, about the pricing of this Brazilian Mega Drice: It is hell of expensive! It must be manufactured overseas.
The tax question can be solved, at a certain point, when the manufacturing process is finalized here in Brazil, as it actually happens with the national PS4 and XOne.
It must be, although, a great value for those with extensive cartridge collections, as it ia kept as retro as possible. Because I found out this package lacking.
It lacks a 6 button pad, and lots of must have classics, as more games as well.

In the competition, the NES mini seems more appealing, even without a cartridge slot. And is half the price, in dollars.

One question to be answered: is it like the original hardware remanufactured or is it another board with emulation and a cartridge slot on it?

Re: Michel Ancel Discovers and Showcases Rayman on SNES

filterclay

Good to know that a forgotten part of gaming history is alive and kicking!!

Have been playing Rayman Forever on PC and this game is hard as hell!!
Although when you master its challenging and methodic design it's fun to rapidly traverse the levels and its unique, joyous visuals and really nice music still stands as one of the finest in platform games.

Wonder how it would be running on a SNES!

Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Delivers Single Screen Gaming - Will You Miss the Dual Screen Concept?

filterclay

Time to change some gameplay paradigm - altough this time we are going back to the traditional one screen gaming and, the best part, local multiplayer.
But it all happens with some innovative "on the go" idea - not much as groundbraking as the motion controls or the dual screens, but these ideas are still enduring somehow or just became commom place losing its impact on general gameplay.

So its time to think and deliver a new appeal and here it is the NS!

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch May Divide Opinion, But It's Made a Splash

filterclay

@MitchVogel I think so! Certainly this reveal remember us the Wii U and its, apparently, big 3rd party support at the beginning and many are worried about it.
But by this Switch trailer we have already seen that Nintendo is doing their homework as promised, this is a great start, although I believe it will take a little long to see the triple AAA 3rd parties games being released on the console.
No problem here actually: let us have fun with Nintendo best franchises and them have a great 3rd party time!

Also, looking back at some past console reveals, the Switch have met higher praise, yet it's still elusive, but overall it's alluring.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch May Divide Opinion, But It's Made a Splash

filterclay

Don't know if you all have heard a lot of talk about the fact that representatives of Bethesda and 2K actually did not confirm Skyrim and NBA games for the system for what seems to be an obvious strategy because it is not yet the time these 3rd party companies consider the right moment for their reveal. While their representatives confirmed they are actually working with Nintendo - maybe at a primary stage - and told it is not the time to talk about their efforts and partnership.

Some sites are noticing this as a disaster!

I'm glad here on Nintendo Life that wasn't all desperation and fuzz about such trivial facts while other sites made it a big question and the first real problem for the Switch, almost diminishing the future console potential!

Re: Poll: Exceptional Graphics or 60fps, Which is More Important for the NX Generation?

filterclay

Fast-paced, arcade-like action games (shooters, sports, racing, fighting, platforming) all benefit and screams for 60fps.

More mainstream nowadays genres like FPS, open world games, and some AAA adventure/action games may not have a 60fps because of their scope, buy they all would benefit form achieving it.

Slow paced games would never need such high frames per second, like turn strategy, RPGs and some slow life simulation games.

Indeed, at the end of the day, all styles may benefit at a higher fps rate!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has No Set Formula for Hardware Reveals, But NX is Testing Fans' Patience

filterclay

Just wondering that the NX strategy may not be to create and increase a big hype and then make a big bang at launch.

Maybe the big N is trying to make much more noise for a year long with a good pacing of great releases a whole year after the release, a first year full of surprises and memorable releases, which may impulse a good degree of success the following years.
Something the WiiU and the 3DS, on their first year, lacked. Recently Nintendo assumed they errors about the WiiU and may plan something different in their approach for the NX.

This maybe an explanation on why the NX may be revealed much closer to its release, maybe even by the starting of 2017.

Re: Hands on: Getting Down With Chicken Wiggle

filterclay

I'm happy to know how much it differs from Mutant Muds!! As someone expecting new things from these developers.
And it goes beyond being just a platformer to have an editing and creation tools.
And this beautifully colored pixel art is a work of a master!!!
Kudos to Atooi with their 2D labor of love!!

Re: UK Retailer Tesco Adds Nintendo NX Order Page With £349.99 Price

filterclay

Someone at Tesco may have trolled us hard!

Or...

This may be a test to see how people react to the supposed pricing.
I found it a little pricey, cause we are talking about pounds. But we can consider 349 US dollars as a good price for a new console doing new things! It is close to the recent consoles and near the price of mid-gen. upgrade we are having.
It is a specially good price for a new console if it comes bundled, and I think it could happen on day one release!

Re: Renegade Kid Closes as Co-Founders Launch Separate Studios

filterclay

It would be an usual sad news this one. But I'm in hope this happened for the better!

I love Renegade Kid, but have to admit they weren't all that great lately, specially when compared to their glory days on DS and the early years of eShop. And their latest releases were followed by poor sales complaints by Watsham - something unfortunate as a fact and as a developer behavior - so this showed the studio was struggling to carry on.

One single studio is now two different new enterprises and this may be a great thing since each one will have their focus on different concepts.
May they bring back their awesomeness with new ideas and a new IP beyond the too much delayed Treasurenauts!

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Is Getting A New RPG Maker Game

filterclay

When having an extensive RPG library - most of them high quality efforts - is not enough!!

Hope it comes west, because we already have some PC RPG Maker releases and those pixels may feel more charming running on the 3DS, so why not release it here?

Re: New Pokémon, Areas, Trials and 'Z-Moves' Are Revealed for Pokémon Sun and Moon

filterclay

Those Z-moves, for an old gamer like me, reminded me of Final Fantasy summons - nice animations on powerful beautiful looking attacks!!
Now with a dancing enchanter!!

Haven't been playing Pokémon in my gaming life - partly because I felt out of place for not embarking the franchise evolution, although I'm casually interested - but the timely release of the Game Boy originals and the refreshing breathe of style and news this Sun and Moon is getting my attention!

Hopefully I will also have sometime to play such game, maybe like I was a teenager in vacation!!
Well, probably not!

Re: Renegade Kid Has Kindly Offered To Port Sonic Mania To Nintendo 3DS

filterclay

Certainly would love to play this promising wonder in my 3DS!
But, before porting Sonic Mania, I would love to play a port of Sonic CD - besides one of my favorite blue blur platformers it would be a good experiment to handle the retro engine on the 3DS.

And Jools Watsham is the hero of the old-school games for portable things! o/

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Will Be Powered By Nvidia's Mobile-Focused Tegra Tech

filterclay

Those who read the news about PC gaming GPUs knows how much Nvidia is improving their video cards from year to year - which means generation to generation on the off-boards PC GPUs: more potent and capable cards consuming less energy and one generation making the last one almost obsolete while making cheaper cards more potent every year!

And they certainly put their know-how in good use in a SoC!

So, about graphics power, I believe we have a behemoth in terms of portable gaming!
And those videos in this article showed us what it can do!

Certainly not on par with the current and future generation of gaming consoles, but this Nvidia chip SUPPORTS UNREAL ENGINE 4!!
And may not have any trouble with updated Unity!

So Nintendo is avoiding a technology that does not supports mainstream updated engines - a big mistake for the WiiU.

Probably Nintendo won't use a next generation chip, due to their elevated costs - although there is a rumor that the NX won't be a cheap price platform.
Nintendo is always working on more cheap tech and not looking for the future in terms of processing power.
But this "problem" seems to be part of their policy as a company - and one that is surpassed by their incredible games!
