Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 23rd January, revealing that Mario Party Superstars is still leading the pack.
With another 20,340 physical sales under its belt, Mario's latest hit has managed to fend off Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for another week. Pokémon remains in second place, with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate holding onto third.
In fact, the entire top ten is almost identical to last week's chart, with just a minor place swap taking place towards the bottom end.
Here are the top ten (first numbers are estimated sales for this week, followed by total sales):

Another 77k units for Nintendo
Be interesting to see what happens to Diamond / Pearl’s sales next week. Will they remain steady, fall off a cliff? Maybe even get a boost with the Arceus hype, as an inevitable hardware boost might mean a slight uplift in software sales across the board?
I like how the few westerners who lived in Japan are the only ones embracing the digital model PS5 and Xbox Series S there. They bought those and then resell them overseas on eBay cause they knew the Japanese audience won't accept them.
Once again...much respect for the Japanese gamers.
It’s funny to see the 2DS outselling ps4.
@AmplifyMJ I could absolutely see them getting a second wind, if not immediately, maybe with a couple weeks delay. Certainly interesting that they chose to release these two games so close to each other.
@Dethmunk My fear is how they continue that wave. At some point a new Switch is a given and I hope they just upgrade the thing rathern than coming up with some new concept.
I'm extremely Happy with my Nintendo Switch OLED! I don't miss my old v1 at all, so glad I've updated!
Nothing will outsell the glorious PS5, the top selling console for 52 weeks in a row (Switch is a hybrid and not a console, thusly it does not count!).
Did I do the Sony fanboy thing right or is that a little too over the top?
@NintendoEternity I find my oled much slower than the last version I had. When installing games I am completely unable to use the entire system for up to three days…
And now out of nowhere it’s unable to read the microSD card. I have no idea what to do about that
@RadioHedgeFund I think a next generation Switch is coming. Not this year, component shortages would have put a brand new Switch in scalpers hands and not into consumers. While I would have loved an upgraded Switch, I think Nintendo made a smart move to keep their products on shelves and off auction/marketplace sites.
Worst yet, whenever a scalper purchases a PS5 or Xbox Series X, the manufacturer's warranty kicks in when they brought it. You could have bought a system they brought 2-6 months ago, or a full year.
@IronMan30 Sorry, not over the top enough. You really have to fury type.
The Switch OLED itself is charging after that total PS5 sales. Yikes.
@progx ah, okay. I'll do better next time.
Almost 23.5million Switch family of systems floating around Japan alone. Complete and utter NintenDOMINATION.
SONY claim that the PS5 has had the most successful launch of the Playstation brand!
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaa...ahem...sorry, what was I saying...oh yes, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH. Only some PR dude high on cocaine could believe such a thing.
I was skeptical about the oled switch for a while but since I’ve been playing mostly in handheld lately I went and got one when I was lucky to find one and it is awesome!
@mr12calvin I think you have a dud my friend mine works perfectly fine. Maybe check your warranty on it out see if you can replace it.
Not bad for an almost 5 year old console.
I think the Switch is great, I play the Lite a lot more than my PS4 these days for convenience, but I do also want a PS5 once I can find one.
Waiting on that Zelda OLED Nintendo… come on…do it…you know you want to!
@mr12calvin sorry to hear. My OLED is much Faster than my old v1. I also have a 1TB SanDisk Micro SD Card.
@Ryu_Niiyama Damn you, Ryu. My wallet heard that.
I expected by now that PS5 be catching up but numbers are showing otherwise. Acreus coming out will most likely be the best selling Pokémon to date on Day One release.
@GrailUK grins I started saving when the OLED was announced. If they don’t make one for BOTW2 I will be shocked.
I'm expecting some busted charts next week because of Legends Arceus.
@GrailUK
It did in the US and Europe.
Japan is a special case. That’s Nintendo’s territory now and has been for years.
@IronMan30
I’m a Sony fan primarily but you nailed it.
There are those fanboys who think Sony can do no wrong.
I can name off a bunch of crap they do wrong. In fact I left them once for four years. The obscenely overpriced PS3 launch disaster. Went full Xbox 360 until early 2010 when I picked up a slim PS3.
But to be fair, Nintendo also lost me. For an even longer period of time. I didn’t own a Nintendo platform between 2008 (never bought a Wii and I sold my DS) until 2019 when I picked up my Switch V2.
I’m a multiplatform gamer that leans heavily Sony. But I ain’t loyal till death or none of that nonsense.
@Dethmunk
PS5 and Series X aren’t PC’s in a box. They do share many basic components with x86 PCs but they are heavily customized. The PS5 in particular. It’s sound hardware is nothing like what you find on PC (it’s actually a unique off shoot of the Cell processor design from the PS3, but dedicated solely to sound processing) and it uses a completely custom I/O interface for both memory and the SSD. Same for the Xbox in regards to I/O. Both consoles use unique I/O control methods you don’t find on PC.
Plus there is no PC build in existence that you can build for 500 bucks that comes close to matching either the PS5 or the Series X.
PS5 beat the lite. Nintendoomed.
@mr12calvin Sounds like you might have a bad Micro SD card. A bad one can continuously slow down and would explain a lot of the issues you are having.
I had a cheap SD card with my 3DS and it would take minutes to save a game I had stored on it.
Woah you can’t let these numbers see the light of day. How else do you think switch force and beats ups will make money if they can’t shove the switch pro down our throats saying the switch will fail if it doesn’t come out. Just think about these life’s you are affecting.
@mr12calvin need to reformat the SD card it try another card.
@Danrenfroe2016 It worked for years…
Now it suddenly stopped working…
Can I just redownload all the in game data I got on the micro sd cart? Or should I copy paste it to a hardrive and then past it back after formatting?
@ballistic90 Ive had it for four years. Never had a problem with it
@NintendoEternity I got a new card.
It’s working really well hehe
@mr12calvin that's good to hear! Enjoy!
