Update: We now have UK pricing for the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece collection, as well as the standalone Kingdom Hearts releases (thanks, Eurogamer).
The big bundle containing all three packages will cost £80 in the UK, although this can be picked up for £64 if you pre-order ahead of release. Kingdom Hearts - HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix will cost £33 (£26.39 if you pre-order), Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is £40 (£32 for pre-orders) and Kingdom Hearts III will be £50 (£40 for pre-orders). US pricing can be found in our original article below.
Original Article (Tue 18th Jan, 2022 10:00 GMT): Square Enix has revealed that its upcoming series of cloud-based Kingdom Hearts games will launch for Nintendo Switch on 10th February, dropping a new trailer in the process.
Initially announced last year, the collection will see Kingdom Hearts - HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III launch on Nintendo's system, technically containing ten games altogether. Fans will also be able to pick up a 'Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece' collection, which combines all of the above in a single package.
Pricing for each game, as well as the collection, have now been revealed (thanks, Gematsu):
- Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version – $39.99 (launching at $31.99 discount price)
- Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version – $49.99 (launching at $39.99 discount price)
- Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind Cloud Version – $49.99 (launching at $39.99 discount price)
- Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud – $89.99 (launching at $71.99 discount price)
Remember, all of these Kingdom Hearts releases are cloud versions, meaning you'll need a very solid internet connection to enjoy them. It's also worth noting that $90 for a collection of titles that'll simply stop working one day might feel a little steep – that decision will be up to you when they launch next month!
Free demos for each of the three individual titles above will also be playable on Switch starting today. You can see which games and additional content you'll be able to enjoy across each release right here.
Are you thinking of trying out these cloud-based Kingdom Hearts games next month? Has the pricing put you off, or are you willing to part with your cash to enjoy the series on Switch? Let us know in the comments.

Cloud? No thank you
Its just renting a game until they decide to turn it off and for those prices definitely not
Ludicrous prices, especially for cloud-based versions.
The "Cloud version" better have more Cloud fights in Olympus.
Eh, pricing could've been worse.
That said, I'm going to be overtly malicious here and hope that this bombs. The Switch shouldn't be getting cloud versions of 20-year-old games.
Vote with your wallets, people! Do you want games that run natively, be they physical or download, or do you want to stream your games?
Those prices are ridiculous. Square Enix is out of their mind - this is a streamed video game, not a NFT.
To anyone out there set out to support them it's entirely up to you, I won't support this practice. The other kingdom heart games can run fine without being cloud edition, apart from the part 3.
What a slap in the face to fans. Cloud version and the absurd price point!
Granted I have all the games already on the native consoles and PS4 so I can just play them there, but I felt I had to message my friend who works at Square to express my disgust. Not much he can do as he's just a localisation person, but perhaps he can spread the word through the offices
That's pathetic, get lost you dumb games making company!!
I'm really torn on this. I have the collection on PS4 that I bought in the sale for about £25 but I just don't get the TV enough to actually sit down and play them. The Switch is the perfect platform for me to actually play through this series.
HOWEVER, them being cloud based is a massive turn off. I think I'll give the demos a go, but I'm not expecting it to run that well. Just give me the collection physically for £100 and you'll have my money easily. (Even if the third one had to be a cloud based version)
L. O. L. 😂🤣
I’m sorry…
/topic
If you have a Playstation then play it there and say no to this cloud practices.
Remember when companies used to downgrade their games to fit to the graphical power of Nintendo consoles?
I can agree that SE doesn't want to downgrade 2.8 and KH3 and that the Cloud version is the way to go.
There's no excuse for 1.5+2.5 though.....
Anyway... I enjoyed all of these on PS3 and PS4 .... great games.
It's nintendo switch expansion pack all over again...
I don´t like this!
I'll play them on another console as I'm not a fan of cloud versions.
Well, i have the best internet connection available in my country, have the switch dock wired directly to my modem, but I still experience frame rate issues and hickups.
Why won’t they just release it natively on switch…
I bet if this doesn't sell well (and I hope that's the case) they just will come to the dumb conclusion that Switch owners just aren't interested in Kingdom Hearts
Says yes to clouding, saying no to outrageous prices
@fafonio Money, dear friend. They don't want to do it themselves or pay someone to do it, and they have fans who have paid enough for the turds left for them to justify the same behavior again and again.
not worth the price, Switch could easily run this games even Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix been lazy/greedy with the Switch version of Kingdom Hearts.
@Severian yeah... tbh you could use those 80 bucks to buy a second-hand ps4 and then buy the collection for peanuts in a sale.
@Giancarlothomaz nah... the Switch definitely wouldn't be able to run Kingdom Hearts 3
$72 will probably be around £69.99 over here (assuming similar discount)? That really isn't bad if you look at cost per game. The Cloud thing is obviously the issue here though. A lot of money when you don't know how it will run or if you will even like the games or not.
I hope these cloud versions bomb so hard, SQ never think of doing this ever again. Then again, they could be stupid enough to blame the switch install base.
@fafonio really? after the impressive Dying Light 1, Doom Eternal e Witcher 3 ports , you really think Switch can't run Kingdom Hearts 3.
Who knew they were being prophetic with the name Cloud Strife?
At least Kingdom Hearts runs native on my 3ds
@Giancarlothomaz Not a straight port, it would need to be pretty much redone from the ground up, which may have been worth it when the game was new but is unlikely to recoup the costs if Square did it now.
How can someone charge this ridiculous prices for a cloud version?
Normally I'm kinda nonplussed about paying the Switch Tax for ports, but $90-$140 for compilations you can neither play portably, much less own physically, is a big ask when the All-in-One package is less than 1/3 the price on PS4 (and the standalone packages are also dirt cheap).
I'm morbidly curious to give the demos a shot, but there's really no reason to jump on these unless you really dont have access by any other means.
If you have the sort of Internet to play these, you probably already have a higher spec machine already and can buy a cheaper collection. Without being able to play on the go makes it pretty pointless.
This is so sad! I would have loved playing these games on my Switch if they weren't online rentals. Luckily I will be able to play them natively on my Steam Deck when it arrives, but not everyone will have that luxury.
@danemord No, say no to both as most people don't have good enough internet and Cloud gaming is a rental scam
I don’t want a cloud version and more so I won’t risk investing only for a hard copy to get announced a few month later.
Just give me the hard copy from the start!
Well... since there's demos coming, may as well give those a try if only to see how the cloud stuff holds up for me.
Lol what the actual heckaroonie
Grey skies ahead it seems. No thanks🌨
@Bunkerneath why should I? I'm Scandinavian, so even my mobile connection is nice, cheap, and unlimited. Love playing GoTG on the go 👍
That some people have bad connections can't possibly be my problem, I'm not paying for you anyway
But if we don't buy it, SquareEnix will think we're not interested in KH games on Switch 😆
It's a shame that the Kingdom Hearts games won't be coming to switch
I tried it on the Switch OLED docked. WiFi 5ghz close to the router. It ran absolutely fine. You can tell it is no 4k version but it is good looking still.
Personally I think cloud is a good idea for the Switch. As long as the publishers make sure the compacity is there. If you want games like Phantasy Star Online 2 on the Switch it would need something like cloud.
I like to play and collect video games, so cloud games are an instant NO for me. 👎🏼(Especially at that price.)
Such a shame, I would’ve bought these games on cartridge.
These could easily run natively. Even native that would be a steep price, but for cloud hosted games? Not touching this with a barge pole.
Oh, man. Under these circumstances, I hope it bombs as hard as Balan Wonderworld. Problem is, Square Enix will take it as a sign we don't want Kingdom Hearts instead of us not wanting Cloud games, especially at that price.
EDIT: Taking a look at the trailer and the titles they encompass and I'm immediately remembered of how "Chronologically Confusing" this series is.
Never played this series, would love to!
Just
Have to figure out how I can play this “cloud based game” on my mobile console the Nintendo Switch on the road.

#NoToCloudGaming
I wasn’t overly tempted to get these cloud versions anyway, but at those prices? Come on. Hard pass. Especially since I just bought all three games on Xbox for less than $45.
@fafonio i was just thinking the same
LMAO I recently paid £22 for all of them in a collection on the PlayStation store....... And not a cloud version
I did not expect cloud games to be almost full price. Was expecting more of a small rent fee a month since you are dependent on their servers.
@Rpg-lover You can also play the non-cloud versions on Xbox and PC. You don't really need a PlayStation for that.
I'd rather play water-downed ports of these. We want games with Cloud, not Cloud games!
God Almighty, what hilariously contemptible prices!
They should all be issued standalone physical releases and honest-to-God ports for that kind of money!
@Bunkerneath from where is your profile pic/gif? Looks interesting
@BrintaPap it's from a game called Omno
Its a pretty good game
My son really liked the game when he tried it on Gamepass, so I was thinking about maybe purchasing the collection for him on Switch when that came out, but looking at those prices… nope…. Was sort of hoping for $30 for the set. I am foolish.
I will try the demos and see how they work out.
Just bought a new physical version on PS4 for $20.
Ah, Kingdom Hearts, great series. Too bad they never released it on the Switch, I would have paid good money for it.
Great games... that I recommend playing on Xbox or PS.
lollllllllllll 90$!
2.8 and KH3 i can understand being cloud only but there's no reason why 1.5 and 2.5 should be cloud only.
These are objectively outclassed by the versions available on other platforms. I can’t wrap my head why the older games need to be Cloud only. A very bizarre hamstringing of what should have been an easy Switch release.
I have wanted these games on Switch for years but not this way. It is a big “NO SALE” from me. I will definitely be voting with my wallet.
Where I live, the internet service is mostly rubbish (even on a good day).. I get the internet dropping out often. I also only get a small allowance for the internet each month (the prices are crazy expensive in my area), so have to watch what I do online. My area is not ready (or prepared) for Cloud gaming at this point in time.
Then there is the portability issue, what is the use of having the game on a handheld if you need an internet connection to play? Once you step out of the house, who is to say that you will even have an internet connection? Most probably you will not be able to play this game on the go.
Then there is the pricing and ownership issue, if we are paying full price for these games, who knows how long we will be able to play them for anyway (before they are no longer available to us / online). Not paying full price for a game that could simply be taken away from us at any moment.
Such a letdown.
The Kingdom Hearts games were in my list of most wanted Switch ports...
But I absolutely can't support cloud versions, I like to actually own my games. I know that you have less "ownership rights" so to speak with digital versions of games, and that it's unsure how long you'll be able to keep them for in the future, but cloud versions don't even try to hide it. They straight up tell you that the game you're playing isn't and won't be your game, you're just renting it at a premium price... And as soon as the servers shut down.... Gone, never to be played again.
But hey, isn't Square Enix generous bringing these titles over for the 20th anniversary? So gracious...
As if buying games that Nintendo has historically never allowed you to transfer to the next gen was bad enough, they're selling games that can't even be played online, and will no longer work in a few years time.
Man, even though I have these on PS4, I was willing to double dip for a Switch version, but not like this... Not like this.
I will never buy a "cloud" game on the Switch. The Switch really can't hanle game streaming, and you can't play it when you're offline. Taking away 70% of my Switch usage.
I'm gonna try the demos just because I'm curious if my internet can handle game streaming but I ain't gonna buy them. They're expensive but I'm not super hung up on the price. Yeah it's basically renting but most games I finish I never touch again anyway. And it's not like you ever truly own the software you purchase, even physical carts, which is outlined in the EULA; the publisher reserves the right to revoke access at any point.
My issue is that I need to be tethered to the internet by nature of the cloud. Meaning I'll likely be stuck to the living room and the ethernet connection. And I won't be able to jump in and out of sleep mode when I get distracted or need a short break because it'll disrupt the connection. Also I bring my Switch with me when I commute. It's just not gonna happen.
Man, I really wanted portable versions of these games. If it's cloud only it's useless unless I'm at home...
Well, even then it'd be useless, my internet sucks lol
Absolutely no way I'm paying that price for a cloud version - and that's coming from someone who is not even remotely price sensitive!
Square Enix need to get their research department functioning better... all the effort involved in bringing these to Switch and they get the pricing so far off even their core market is pushing back on it.
2022 on Switch is packed to the rafters, so it's not even a difficult pass for me.
I wouldn't have had a problem triple dipping for this since I have it on my PS3 and 4.
But Square being lazy and doing these lazy cloud versions don't deserve a cent from me
Again, if the price was right and there's a guarantee you'd get many, many years out of these, I'd see these as viable options.
Cloud and more expensive than the native versions for other platforms. They’ve gone mad! Hard pass!
And as expected they ran okay on my decent Internet, but the occasional stutter is jarring and completely takes you out of the moment. Square Enix please, please, please pay someone to port these games properly as there is a massive fan base that will buy this for the portability alone.
Or get them on PS4 for a third of the price, and without this cloud nonsense.
I am no expert on Kingdom Hearts even though I have them on PS4 but a lot of people seem to be suggesting that KH3 would be difficult to port to Switch. Sure there would be downgrades but would it really be harder than Witcher 3, Doom, Crash or the upcoming Deliverance?
I highly recommend just get them all on EGS on sale if you can. This is ridiculous.
I really don’t mind the cloud gaming concept. I’m fine “renting” games (I don’t need to own everything I ever play until the end of time-several years is plenty in most cases), the pricing doesn’t bother me that much…I have concerns about performance, but I suppose that depends on the situation-I’ve actually heard this runs fairly well if you have decent internet, but I haven’t tested it myself yet. I actually think it’s a pretty cool way to get games on Switch that otherwise wouldn’t/couldn’t be there. I’d much rather buy like ten cloud games than have to put that money towards a next gen console just to be able to play them.
Having said that, there’s no reason for these games to be cloud games-they could easily run on Switch. 1 and 2 for sure, anyway. I can’t support this incredibly lazy “port”, and I won’t make compromises for no reason. Very disappointing.
I'm going to get these games eventually, and I'm looking forward to firing up the demos on my Switch. That is a bit on the pricey side of things though, and I have plenty of other games to play, so I'll hold out for a discount.
I would much prefer these on cart… pass
Another game I’ll be passing on because of this cloud nonsense. Shame.
The only clouds I like are the ones in the sky and the ones in the pfp above me, hard pass.
It just really makes me sad that they couldn't port these some of these PLAYSTATION 2/PSP GAMES to the Switch. KH3 I get because that's a giant PS4 game, it's very pretty. But the only ways to play KH1 on switch is through modding a PS2 emulator onto it (which I know is possible) or this stinky cloud version. It's depressing.
Edit: I guess you can say this deal isn't "Simple and Clean"
So disappointed its on cloud version this shouldn't be over the top price once again another game I'll be skipping because its on cloud this is same with guardians of the galaxy.
@WhiteUmbrella I would stream the game if it is on a cloud gaming service like Stadia or Xcloud or Luna.
But on Switch? No thanks
@Buizel KH3, ok I could understand, but the ps2 games? on top of its 3ds remaster? Low effort!
Y'know... I wouldn't mind cloud gaming so much if it were set up more like a rental service. I would pay to play a nominal rental fee, play until the time is up, and re-up the cash if I need more time. I still don't see how cloud gaming helps a portable gaming system like the Switch-- Cloud gaming effectively eliminates you playing the game if you were without steady WiFi, which is not EVERYWHERE in the US at least... Can't imagine other countries' dead zones. If they even rigged Cloud gaming on Switch where you could download the game, play it mobile, and would have to check back in on WiFi occasionally to continue playing after so much time has passed that would be better-- NES and SNES NSO do a form of that right now. These practices man...
@Bunkerneath I agree! What game is that for your avatar? It’s on the tip of my tongue!
I'm not opposed to playing/buying cloud based games.....if they work well. Most games like this are rarely replayed by me and the time spent to complete these games would be way cheaper then other entertainment. These games pack hundreds of hours of gameplay. The entertainment value is like less then .50 cents an hour, maybe even much cheaper. Compare this to going to a sporting event, movie, or something like skiing. The entertainment value per hour is way more!
But I also find it weird that cloud games are becoming a thing on a system specializing in it's mobility. They better not show a commercial where someone is playing this game in a park like they do other games!
I'm excited to try the demo to see if cloud gaming will work for me or if it'll be glitchy.
@BrintaPap Its called Omno it doesnt show its fully 3D, its a nice simple puzzle game.
@Gofixmeaplate
I just bought the 'All In One' on PS4 physically for $20 CAD
@Buizel Yeah I hate to root for failure but this really needs to not become a trend.
They’ll cancel the cloud service so they can sell it to you again at the same price in the next gen
@Warioware Yeah honestly with some work I don't see why not. It would certainly cost some money and time but just based off system requirements. Witcher 3 i7 3rd gen, gtx 770. KH3 i5 3rd gen, Gtx 760.
I atleast can't fault them on maybe not wanting to spend the money but I do hate when people just assume "switch can't run it"
Yikes, that pricing. Meanwhile, I bought the entire collection of KH for the PS4 for less than $40 and I get to play them with or without internet connection.
These games are pretty great, so I'll be downloading the demo, if only to see how they run, but there's no way I'm shelling out that amount of money for cloud versions.
$90 is ridiculous for cloud gaming, regardless the pedigree of the series. This should be like.... $40, tops
Tried the demo and surprisingly playable even with my wifi, though pretty much in low-res. Hilariously, they didn't even bother making a proper demo.
Literally the full game with a time limit so by the time I was done watching the opening movie, intro and just about to pick the adventure type in the Dive to the Heart the demo ended
@cylemmulo Thanks for the stats, sounds like it would be doable in light of the other ports Switch has done well.
Glad that everyone else hates this cloud garbage.
When I play my games it’s always on the go and since cloud games want you to be on the Internet all the time that kills the switch’s entire purpose! Just port these games on to switch on cartridges and you get a buttload of money! Make them cloud only then you have no one getting these games.
And I wouldn’t mind kingdom hearts 3 being a cloud game (shocker I know) if it weren’t for the fact a couple comments say that other huge games can run just fine on the switch so there’s no excuse for THAT to be a cloud game. I’m not even gonna try the demos because I KNOW my internet is complete and absolute garbage! (Seriously when I have to download a huge update for Pokemon masters it not only takes forever but the loading bar actually goes BACKWARDS so I have to use my date to even update the game that’s how bad my internet is)
I love Kingdom Hearts! I am so glad I waited for so long to play this trilogy! Thanks Disney and SE! I loved the demo! I will need to play it closer to my router but it's a good experience. I played Guardians of the Galaxy this way and its awesome!
The KH games are great, but what isn't great is having games you bought taken away from you the moment the company decides it doesn't want to pay to keep the lights on anymore.
I played the demo and I have to say, I wouldn't recommend buying it.
For one, it has frame lag, which messes with your button inputs making combat aggravating and sluggish.
Two, you're only allowed to play the tutorial for the first game before the demo abruptly ends, not giving you enough time to see how the game runs in the main game.
Square should be embarrassed.
The only Cloud I'll ever support is Cloud Strife from FF7... Keep your cloud versions, SquEnix.
I hope this bombs so bad!!!
Maybe then they will move their behinds and release both physically and digitally, not this cloud BS.
I've been wanting to play this game for years but never got around to it.
I went to get the demo and boom a off putting price tag for a cloud based game.
Anyhows downloaded it and my god the demo is so boring, I was expecting Disney cinamatic action.
The game kept going smudgy at points and when you spin the camera fast it don't feel smooth. I'm not much of a gamer but this can't be right , I've not had this issue with non cloud games. My connection is fine out does game pass just fine but not this game ?.
The price tag mixed with a boring demo is not how you attract buyers, can't people just have physical.
I'm kinda glade I never brought this game in the past, it's demo was so boring.
3 is the ONLY game I could understand the rationale for a cloud based iteration
I'd pay $90 for a physical honestly. I play my Switch offline all the time.
It's lazy and a cop out. I hope SE loses sales on this "port".
God no. Already have them physically for all other consoles, but I would have gladly bought them again if they were not cloud versions.
Squenix can stick that where the sun don’t shine. I’m not paying that much for something that more than likely won’t be available to me in 5 years…. Give us an actual release and then I’ll gladly fork over my money!
I would never pay $72 to own nothing. Because cloud games are worthless and absolute nothingness if they can't be played without a server online
I've made my feelings about this abundantly clear in the comments section of a previous article about this. The price is merely another reason that I will boycott this.
Thanks to the pricing of this, Final Fantasy: All the Bravest no longer holds the title of being the most notorious predatory ripoff that Square Enix has ever published, and that was a shameless microtransaction fest.
Watch how this low effort Cloud release flopping on Switch translates to “Guess Nintendo fanbase doesn’t care about Kingdom Heart games” for SE
I hate all of this, but why am I still tempted? I hate myself
I hope developers, publishers, and platform-holders are reading this avalanche of feedback.
We don't want lazy cloud gaming on outdated hardware, just make a new Switch already.
"Masterpiece for Cloud "
A fancy expression for thrashing 90$.
@Bunkerneath this is the worst decision they could have made! I was so looking forwards to replay the first two games- I would buy those right away if they came natively as a download! In this case, NO WAY!
If it was on a more stable marketplace say Xbox or Steam then maybe.
But cloud game on a Nintendo platform? Knowing how Nintendo never bothers with backwards compatibility! Absolutely not!
90 dollars?! I scored these on Sony's digital storefront last year for less than 30, and those run off the HD itself
Wooooooooow that switch tax is real. Hard hard pass from me
I'm guessing someone must be buying these cloud games because developers keep doing it.
Despite the fact that it seems unanimously hated, I'm guessing that it must cost little to host the game for them and anyone who does buy it, is just lining their pockets and they can easily turn around and say "hey look we supported Nintendo"...
It's a bit pathetic but it must be working because why else would so many companies put on cloud games on the Switch?
@mikegamer
Thing is they were out hardly anything for cloud gaming so any purchases of these is instant profits.
It’s curious though. Why release it this way when it’s reach is so limited compared to a native port. The constant stable fast internet connection required for cloud games isn’t available everywhere and even where it is the price of that is also high so $90 for these games that you don’t own and can be pulled tomorrow that can be bought for less than a third of that on other platforms is insane.
@Perryg92 the most effective way to complain is don’t buy it,
£64 seems perfectly reasonable to me. That's a hell of a lot of content. Don't see anyone paying the prices for the individual releases however.
With those price and some lazy versions which won't be here for long, yeah go back to your stupid NFT dumpster Square Enix. Nobody want these cloud garbage here, either give us the real deal or gtfo. The Switch is powerful enough to run 90% of these games. At this point you're basically paying for air.
Way too much for way too little.
I think I would rather buy a PS4 and the games. It might be cheaper (in the long run).
At those prices they won't earn back their money 💰 spent on marketing this dumpster 🔥
@mike_intv
If you go second hand, this should actually be possible...
Can't play cloud on the go anyway (not in an acceptable manner...)
Just bought the Kingdom Hearts All-in-on set on PS4 physically for $50 on Amazon which includes:
KINGDOM HEARTS III
KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days
KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded (just cinamatics)
KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX

KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage–
Has anyone had a chance to try the demo? I'm curious how it played. Did you experience glitches or lag?
Do they hate Nintendo or something? Cloud version is going to be a lesser version to most people, it will not be better than a watered down version that runs in a Switch natively because most people don't have a super stable connection, I'd expect they'd charge cheaper for it.
@Thisisraf Thanks for the tip. Even though I would prefer to play this on Switch, I've decided to forgo the cloud version for the PS4 All-in-one game too. I just hit the purchase now button on Amazon. I only paid $30 and I'll get it tomorrow.
its nice that they passed on the savings to gamers that they made from not having distribution costs
Truly despicable. I wasn't happy with the original announcement but now I just came here to rub salt in both our wounds.
Look, yeah, I'm grateful they released KH on Switch but this wasn't the right way. NOT AT ALL. It's easy to forget to remember that the Switch is a HYRBID console meant to be played on-the-go or docked; your choice. Why was limiting you to have to choose one ever a good idea? If this doesn't show that Square Enix lost touch with the outside, or the Switch ecosystem/users, then I don't know what does.
It really gives the perception that this was "phoned in" without any respect to the player base. That perception is killing this. Boo'd off stage..
I'm all for cloud gaming, but even I agree those prices are ridiculous for what are now considered old games.
The physical version of The Story so Far and III on PS4 cost 15 bucks each.
Are they actually insane?
Would’ve been nice if this was the first game you could make a choice between cloud or native. Some people don’t mind using lots of storage space for something they want to play. At these prices for cloud I’d rather emulate but I’ll continue doing my usual which is not liking kingdom hearts and not playing them. But still next time make it cloud and native for the choice. That or beef up ur console thanks.
That's a no from me. Even if they didn't want to put in any work to get KH2.8 and KH3 on the Switch, the 1.5 and 2.5 collection has no excuse. Also, you can get all of these games physically for $35 on the PS4. This is an embarrassment, an insult, and an absolute waste of money.
Charging 90 bucks for a cloud version of a collection that costs a fraction on any other system on a system notorious for wonky internet connections requires a heck of a lot of courage...
Or a complete mental and moral collapse...
(Reads price)
(Jaw hits floor)
(Falls off chair)
F*!K You Square Enix.
Heck to the no. Maybe on PS4 someday.
This is going to bomb so hard. I might pick it up when it's half off
Test Demo
Its bad for me internet speed random drop ...unplayable. not gonna paid for it
That's an easy one for me to say no to. If it gets a physical launch, or standard digital even, I'll bite.
Cloud that is a JOKE. Many if not most will just Deny this download. Cloud has been a joke and will be the stream joke of the year.

What the blemy....
@fafonio FYI... Crysis 1, 2, 3 runs on Switch what makes you think it can't-also think Witcher 3 runs on Switch and that is more demanding then Kingdom Hearts series. And they are full on cart aka Witcher 3....
@SwitchForce it’s not about the cart… it’s about the processing power and the hardware. Witcher 3 may have more assets and size overall, but then we would be talking about space, not power. KH3 is far superior in demanding graphics than Witcher 3 for Switch.
Then we are talking about file size. As SE already said, this decision was more about space in the carts compared to discs.
I don't and can't play cloud games. Especially for that sort of price
Not surprised at that pricing sadly. Square have been putting out sub par pc ports recently at stupid prices as well. Vote with your feet
LOOOOL. The British price for the collection equates to over AU$150!!!!
Ridiculous beyond words!
They should be selling all three games on a 64GB cart for that kind of money!
now you can play them anytime, anywhere, except for anytime you go anywhere, anytime your internet is down, or anytime past a set date in the future. If best selling console isn't a valid audience to take even a little bit serious, get out, SE. Sober up.
Cloud gaming?! No thanks!
So today I learned that there is a game named “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue”.
@fafonio They have carts with space to hold it don't kid yourself on that. They don't want to invest in carts and this is Disney were talking about they could but they don't.
@SwitchForce @silly_g Sigh….
Largest & more expensive Switch game card size = 64gb
KH All-in-one Collection for Ps4 = 112.35 gb
KH All-in-one collection for PC = 185gb
KH3 just by itself is a 75gb install.
.
But damn Square and Disney’s evil flawed math…. Right?
@NintendoWife well, it is a compilation that includes the 3DS game… a short but good prologue to KH3 called KH 0.2 A fragmentary passage and a movie called KH X Back Cover which acts as a prequel to every other game in the series
@fafonio he thinks that by halving the resolution, the size will also halve 😂😂😂
SE can jump off a tall pier...
@Savage_Joe exactly… I mean, I don’t support cloud gaming…. But I support LOGIC.
Great collection but cloud is a definite pass
@GameOtaku It's highway robbery
Genuine lol at price.
Especially considering the demo I just played to see what the cloud version looked like.. ooof! That’s bad
@fafonio I’m just making fun of SE’s naming habits… “Final Fantasy Chrystal Chrysalis: Elysia Furunkulur Parthenon”. I’ve always wondered what’s with that, not having played much of their output because they mostly abandoned Nintendo systems after the SNES. Then later I did try some SE games and realized that, if I may, their bad taste in names is in line with the bad taste overall. Too much of everything. But that’s just my personal view.
@fafonio
Other games like Doom also had large file sizes on other platforms but were compressed to a more manageable size on switch.
@GameOtaku Doom for PS4 = 50 gb
KH All in One = 120-185 gb (3x larger)
Yeah… Doom was a bad example. If Doom was a 100gb+ install it would have been a good one.
As I said, KH3 (76gb) by itself is bigger than Doom and people want 7 other KH games compressed in a 32gb gamecard? ….. Really?
(Putting it on a rare 64gb gamecard increases the price btw) even so, we are talking 150gbs compressed into 64 ….
For comparison, the biggest game on switch is NBA2k1 with 39gbs and we all know how that went on Switch.
@fafonio
But it stands to reason it could be done. For example a physical release with 3 carts in a box one for each game. Even if they did use the largest size of 64 that would at least justify the asking price for the all in one collection. Right now they did next to nothing compared to the efforts on other systems and are asking a higher price tag than the others.
Got the Complete collection for $25 on PS5 during the holiday sale. 2.8 was only $7 so for $32 I have all of them.
@GameOtaku just imagine the cost of that collection….3 carts in a box would easily be up to $150-$180
Who, in their sane mind, would buy a collection for $150 when you could easily, on other platforms, find the same collection for $32, like the post above me says.
This cloud version is just a token game for fulfilling contracts between Nintendo and SE.
We all knew from the start that KH3 on the Switch would be nearly impossible. Let alone the whole collection.
Now… one option would have been to release the collection WITHOUT KH3 … and then they could have fit all the other games into a 64gb cart.
But the internet would have been set ablaze either way because of an INCOMPLETE collection… when on other platforms you could get ALL the games for way cheaper.
It’s a dead-end for SE. Nobody wins.
@fafonio
Who would buy a $90 cloud game that lags, requires you to be docked and tethered to one place and can be taken down without a moment’s notice. I could see $90 for a complete physical because of the price of the carts. As many have said with this pricing and it’s form of delivery the switch got shafted.
It really does astonish me how tone deaf these companies are to the majority consensus of its consumers. Then when their product fails to do as well as it did on other platforms they blame consumers for not supporting them when it was their decisions that caused consumers to lose confidence in them.
@GameOtaku there’s no way you would get two 64gb carts for $90.
Usually Switch games come in 8-16 GB carts … 32 GB carts are expensive and add a $10-$15 addition to regular games. If you take into account that a normal game costs around $60… then you’d have a $70 game in a 32gb … and $90 for a 64gb cart….
And you want two of them in a single package.
It’s simple math tbh
@fafonio
The last instance of 32gb being used was Witcher 3 and it cost the normal msrp of $60 which included other goodies as well.
Or they could release the collections and 3 individually for around $30 a piece so a bundle of all 3 for $90 would make sense.
@GameOtaku still… if you put 3 - 32gb carts it would amount to 60x3= $180 …. Even if you lower the price to $130 … nobody is going to pay that when you can get them for $32 on other platforms

There’s a reason why they are doing it. Not because they are evil or they don’t like money.
@fafonio
A big company buying several 100 thousand carts is going to get a discount on price for buying so many. If what you say is true then they can have a separate release for each (1.5, 2.5 and 3.)
@fafonio
Those "bloated" GB were never going to make it into the Switch version. Considering the graphics need to be tone down and optimize the redundant code they can definitely fit it in a cart. Worse case scenario the cinematic "games" could be downloads while the gameplay ones are in the cart. In addition, I expected KH3 sold separate or if their lazy behinds thought it was too much work then release that 1 alone as a cloud. There are no excuses for this trash they are putting out. The Switch is more than able to handle KH1 & 2 and let's be real with the amount of sales they would have gotten a 64 GB makes sense for them to "invest" in.
Edit: I see you actually considered this option in a comment further down
You can't please everyone of course, but the option of the cloud is almost as bad as no game whatsoever. If this bombs, as it should, watch them blame it on the "customer" not supporting them instead of them making such terrible choices.
@jamesthemagi now thats a clever option. Putting 1.5+2.5 in a single cart without the movie games. Putting those as code downloads. Then a KH3 “downgrade” in a 64gb cart (assuming the Switch could handle it)
That only leaves us with what to do or where to put KH 3DS and 0.2 Fragmentary Passage
The thing is…. Putting everything in 2 64gb cart would be really costly….
Their first mistake that caused all of this was not releasing 1.5 and 2.5 on Switch when they released them on the other consoles
@fafonio
1.5 + 2.5 + 2.8 = 1 64GB cart = $60 (if optimized and with visual downgrade probably won't even need movies to be downloads. Original = 75GB)
3 = 64 GB cart = $60
@jamesthemagi a 64gb cart wouldn’t definitely be $60 though. That’s what a 16gb cart costs. It’s easily a $80-90.
No interest in this, thank you. And certainly not at that price to rent.
I'm definitely buying this. My internet's fast enough. I don't care that they're cloud. 10 extra seconds of loading times is a small price to pay for KH on my pro Controller. I do wish they were native, but the Cloud Versions do cut costs and make them release faster.
Even as a DieHard Kingdom Hearts fan even I can admit that this is scummy and a all new low for Square.
