Re: Nintendo Will Remove Smash Bros. Ultimate's Offensive Depiction Of Native Americans

also for those of you who don’t know, Nintendo changed depictions of this Game & Watch reference when it was released on the GBA before. this is nothing new.

it really does not impact your experience of Smash Bros. Ultimate whatsoever with it gone. people saying “i wouldn’t have even noticed if there wasn't a big deal made about it” should not be this bothered that something they didn’t even notice or know about was removed for the final release.

it’s paradoxical. choose one or the other.

Good on Nintendo for removing it.

y'all defending racism isn't a good look.

Re: Has Nintendo Accidentally Revealed The Entire Cast Of Super Mario Party?

where is the super mario odyssey representation this era . .

if it weren't for smash including new donk city / having pauline visible i thought they were honestly going to ghost it completely.

big contrast here between the GameCube releases following Super Mario Sunshine , most all of the mario spinoffs contained characters, stages and such that had references to it in some way. Luigi's Mansion as well.

@HipsterInkling and @notahuman you both get it. thank you.

the united states in particular has histories of black face and it is an image / symbol that still makes people uncomfortable. a company avoiding this is not censorship, that is their choice to steer clear of it in a region where it might give the wrong idea - not yours.

if you think a pokemon episode airing is more important than avoiding something that has hints of historical racism (intentional or not) you should check yourself.

i think we as a culture nowadays spend a lot of time using technology, but I feel more productive when i play a video game versus just watch tv hours on end or sit on my phone.

at least games are goal oriented and in my opinion i'd argue are actually easier to put down and do something else then TV and internet browsing / smart phone use. your brain is more active when you are playing a game than other activities people use to pass the time.
