@Daniel36 I’ll absolutely be snarky here! I’m a physical only guy and abhor GKC like the horribleness it is. But complaining about added content after release is just silly.
The original game is still on the card, perfectly playable and you can just…not update it if you want the orginal experience without the new stuff the devs added after the fact.
Worst case scenario, your save 20 years from now won’t be compatible with the original version on the card after Nintendo’s patch servers go offline.
Maybe a few years from now they can release a version with all the added stuff on the card and it’ll make you happy. Heck, it’d make ME happy from a preservation standpoint. But somehow feeling slighted that the devs are continuing to add things…it really is silly.
@AussieMcBucket Given that I just snagged a couple of these games for direct cheap, DLC included, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a small charge. But free is preferred!
FYI, some of these games are on pretty deep discount on the eShop right now. Might be worth snagging them for cheap for the hoped-for cheap upgrades, assuming they’re provided!
Well, on the strength of this random article, I picked up the Switch 1 version and the Switch 2 upgrade. I’ve spent more for less before, let’s see what happens!
Gosh, it’s almost like each one is defending the decision based on their own priorities!
Meanwhile, I’ll just keep not buying them at all except MAYBE for FF7 Remake since that one actually has a valid reason, i.e. too big for the game card.
@Samalik Or to skip chapters one has already played in previous releases so they can revisit certain parts without having to slog through the whole thing.
Thank goodness the Switch/Switch 2 isn’t my only console.
PS5 all the way on this one.
@dePaige22 I certainly care about it running off the cart. Even with 256 GB onboard and a 512 express card inside, I can’t fit my entire library in my S2 as it is.
Every game that doesn’t have the game on the card (minus patches, of course) just eats more of my storage needlessly.
@arkanjo29 Then you’ve missed articles here and online reports stating game issues have been fixed with system updates. Articles on this very site have shown issues fixed with system updates and not game patches.
@Medic_alert I absolutely give them credit for an excellent port. I may not be a fan of the actual game itself, but it’s nice seeing a company move a more demanding game to a less powerful console and make it sing.
Hopefully this is a sign of a turnaround at Ubisoft.
@MonsterMike I’ll complain about key card releases every time! Especially when a company like Ubisoft should be able to stuff this game on a card with no issue.
Of course, Ubisoft isn’t doing great financially these days…
As someone who owns the Series X version, wait for a sale. This is not worth full launch price. I got it for about $25 and felt I got my money’s worth. Wouldn’t have felt that way if I paid $60 or $70.
@itsapossum I love how you’re assuming there’s no under the hood stuff happening for Switch 1 consoles with these updates, that they’re somehow forcing all S1 users to do so as well out of sheer amusement.
As someone who has played it on Series X…it’s okay as a game. It’s impressive that they’ve managed to squeeze it onto the Switch 2 for sure.
Not my cup of tea, but worth getting on sale. Not full price. Remember, Ubsioft games PLUMMET after a few months, and Outlaws on every other platform was no exception.
@DM7Dust From what I understand there are crashes that keep you from progressing far into the game.
@tonyp1987 I have the card as well, would love to play it again on Switch (platinumed the PS version) but I don’t want to pull out the Switch 1 to do it!
@Saints Of course nothing lasts forever. But we can do our best to make sure things aren’t lost for as long as we possibly can, whatever form those things end up taking in the long run. We are at a place in time where there is NO excuse for anything to be lost barring total apocalypse.
Except for Game key cards. Those suck. I think we can all agree on that!
@Saints I’ve moved to digital for music, though I still buy the occasional CD for actual ownership purposes.
As far as movies and tv shows, I have thousands of Blu-rays and DVDs. I’m a physical media kind of guy, and it encompasses an entire wall of my living room.
@electrolite77 Performance will definitely be the determining factor. It ran beautifully on Series X and I understand it was also 60fps on Series S. 60 on PS5 as well.
I’d love it if they can work some magic and get it at 60 with VERY few compromises on S2.

Re: More Switch Games Get Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
@Simu001 That’s a lot of words for “I don’t understand the complexities of getting games to run on completely different hardware.”
Re: Review: Disgaea 7 Complete (Switch 2) - A Definitive Return For This Tactical RPG Giant
Happy I have this on PS5. The GKC release is 100% what keeps me from double-dipping here.

Re: Digital Foundry Breaks Down Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 On Switch 1 & 2
@canaryfarmer Correct. There’s no separate Switch 2 version.
Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Latest Update Now Live, Here's What's Included
@Daniel36 How dare they react to customer suggestions and feedback. What jerks they are, supporting a game post-launch.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Shadows (Mobile) - Flat F2P Folly With Simplistic Strategy & Social Deduction
This game seems pretty Ast.

I picked this up on disc for PS and I need to go back to it eventually. There were bugs when I played and I HOPE they were fixed but I doubt it.

Re: We're Not Getting A New Game, But 'Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy' Gets A Free Update
@Samalik Again, for those who have ALREADY PLAYED IT many times, it is a very ideal inclusion.

Oh yeah, that game existed.
I’ll forget again in a few minutes.

Sigh. Why did it have to be LRG?
Re: Review: Bubsy In: The Purrfect Collection (Switch) - Limited Run Cleans Out The Kitty Litter
From a preservation perspective I’m happy these games have been brought to a new generation.
As someone who enjoys things that are good, this should be cast into the fires of Mount Doom along with the One Ring.

Re: Review: Cronos: The New Dawn (Switch 2) - Strong Story Elevates Otherwise Safe Survival Horror

Dang. I’m actually glad this is a key card release then, because I sure wouldn’t want to run THAT unpatched from the card.

…if the industry landscape is destroyed by an amazing $20 game, then maybe the landscape deserved to be destroyed.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 System Update 20.4.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
@arkanjo29 And yet other games are getting fixed purely by Nintendo system updates.
It’s almost like it could be Squeenix’s issue OR it could be Nintendo’s. Or both.

Good luck with that! In the meantime, I’ll keep not buying them and give the exact reason why.

Solid port of a mostly mediocre SW game.
Re: Square Enix Details Octopath Traveler 0's Switch 2 Performance And Resolution
I wish I could buy the actual game on card for Switch 2. Guess this will be a PS purchase yet again.
I so want to support S2 games but I will never buy these game key cards. I hope Nintendo works this out with publishers.

Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
@DM7Dust The number of games with issues is rather small. It just sucks that I own one of them and want to own another one.
Thankfully I have my PS5 and Series X so it’s not a MASSIVE issue but others are definitely impacted more than I am. And I love my Switch 2!

Looking forward to the upgrade when it goes live!
