Re: Resident Evil Requiem Is Getting A Themed MicroSD Express Card

@subechin Same on the age range! That said, I have a ginormous backlog extending back to the PS1/3DS/etc and yet I keep playing newer stuff instead of polishing any of those off.

Maybe I’ll get to those once physical media ends and it finally gets me to stop buying new games. …maybe…

Re: Switch 2 Remains The Fastest-Selling Console In The US At 4.4 Million Units

dskatter

It should be noted that the “35% more than the PS4” specifically refers to sales in the same relative span of time, in case it wasn’t obvious.

People will see that banner and go “OMG Switch 2 outsold the PS4 already, wow!!!!” and I hope to head that misapprehension off at the pass for those who don’t bother reading the actual article.

That also said, I freaking love my Switch 2.

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Across The Unknown Beams Onto Switch 2 Next Month

dskatter

So I played a bit of the demo on PS5 over my lunch hour.

There’s the bones of an interesting game here. Graphics bounce from not bad to meh. Spelling and grammar issues abound. Feels more like a scaled up mobile game at times.

I wouldn’t pay full price for this game, but at 50% off I’d consider it as a time waster.

Re: Nintendo Reveals First New Joy-Con 2 Colours For Switch 2

dskatter

They don’t look horrible.

I kinda like the primarily-black thing Nintendo is going for so far. You know down the road they’ll go for the wacky (at least I hope they do!) but it gives a more unified look to the system with the color accents instead of the HEY LOOK IM ALL PURPLE/ORANGE/PINK/EYE SEARING YELLOW the S1 joy-cons had.

And yes, I say this as someone who happily bought a set of said EYE SEARING YELLOW joy-cons back in the day, recently got replacements from Nintendo after their batteries died.

Re: Ubisoft Starts The New Year With A Studio Closure, 71 Jobs Affected

“The studio was mostly focused on mobile development, but also assisted other Ubisoft teams and had worked on major Ubisoft IP including Rainbow Six and Assassin's Creed.”

This more than anything else tells me that this probably was NOT related to unionization. If they’re mostly a mobile development team, that’s kind of a hard space to succeed in these days and Ubisoft might have decided it wasn’t worth the effort anymore.

Re: Dispatch Switch 2 And Switch Frame Rate & Resolution Officially Revealed

dskatter

@Sambuc I know this may shock you, but the installed base of Switch 1 consoles still dwarfs the Switch 2 installed base.

This also may shock you, but those Switch 1 owners buy games and exchange money to do so on a regular basis, and developers of games like money.

Even more shocking, they PLAY games on their Switch 1.

I know this is overwhelming, but let it sink in.

Re: Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter Continues Estelle's Journey In Fall 2026

@OmegaX83

Trails in the Sky 1-3
Trails from Zero-Trails into Azure
Trails of Cold Steel 1-4
Trails Into Reverie
Trails Through Daybreak 1-2

That’s all the games that exist at the moment, with another game coming early next year. All except Sky 2-3 are available on current consoles in some form, and Sky 2-3 can be played on PC.

Re: Mini Review: Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Great Upgrade That Misses A Few Wins

dskatter

@DashKappei “you do realize the “free upgrade” is only valid if you already own the game and for many others it is simply Divinity 2 for Switch 2?”

Well yes. That’s what we’re talking about. A free upgrade for existing owners. Underline the word free.

“It’s more than fine to criticize this port for not including mouse mode and a performance-mode at 40fps handheld.”

Of course it is. And if you scroll back slightly, my actual issue was with someone whining that portable mode wasn’t 60fps.

“You’re tired of people whining?”

Sure am! It gets tiresome.

“What’s way worse is people patronizing others on how they want to spend their hard earned money and having different, higher standards.”

Nah. I’m fine with patronizing people who complain about free things, especially when said free thing makes the recent Skyrim “upgrade” look pathetic. Now that I DID complain about because it actually introduced new issues that didn’t exist in the orginal Switch port. That’s an example of a valid complaint.

No mouse support in this game? It absolutely would be nice. 40fps portable? Very much so! Hopefully those will come down the road. But you know what didn’t have to happen at all? An actual Switch 2 upgrade for free.
