Re: Poll: Tell Us Who You're Siding With In Splatoon 2's Final Splatfest

chagrined

@AlphaElite I only started playing the game recently, I assumed all the chaos vs chaos matchups I've been getting just meant there were more people on team chaos, but you said it could imply chaos is losing? Just curious why that would be.

Also I've seen about a 50-50 split of 100x notifications and I won one for chaos... But that still doesn't give me a good sense of anything lol. I kind of wish you could see how the splatfest is going before it ends.

Re: Catch A Physical Version Of Fishing Star: World Tour Later This Year

@Dogorilla maybe it's a translation error and they meant trawling? the rest of the description reads a bit awkwardly so that wouldn't surprise me.

Edit: Very late edit several days later but I found out "trolling" is actually a type of fishing! It means fishing while the boat is moving to drag your line along. The Japanese description says 走る船 or "running boat" so that does seem to be what is meant.

I have been eyeing this one since I saw it had some labo support and also it looks like the kind of cute/unserious fishing game I enjoy, so one way or the other I will get it.

@Thesharkfromjaws Thanks for mentioning the sale! I have had it on my wish list a while but hadn't been paying attention recently so I didn't see the sale. Now to decide if I want it digital or to wait for physical.

Re: The Original Crypt Of The NecroDancer Is 80% Off As Cadence Of Hyrule Arrives On Switch

chagrined

@bluesdance I hadn't considered a fight stick but that actually might work better. Although with a joycon/pro controller, repeatedly pushing the joystick with my thumb still hurts a lot, but with a fight stick I guess I would use my whole hand which (for me) would be a lot less painful. Also I wonder if I could get one of those ones with keys or whatever, that'd be good too. For now I ended up buying the first game on PC instead and it's definitely less painful pressing keys. But that'd be a good way to play Cadence... If I can ever find a good deal on a fight stick lol. Anyway thanks for the suggestion.

Would buy both this & Cadence of Hyrule but I tried the Necrodancer demo from the Japanese eshop & the repeated button pressing for movement is terrible with my arthritis. Wish the Switch offered some kind of ergonomic controller with customizable controls... If only I could somehow use the Steam controller to play this it would be perfect since I could use the touch pad with no need for pressing hard. Well, I may buy Necrodancer on PC instead so I can play it that way but sad because that's obviously won't work for Cadence, which I'm more interested in.

Re: A Full Sequel To The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is Now In Development

Looks like the castle is blasting off. I hope that's the case and that it takes Link/Zelda/the player to a brand new location to explore. The best part of BotW to me was exploring the world, so if a new game were set in the same world I've already explored I wouldn't care that much. But a brand new environment sounds amazing. The castle being built on top of some kind of ship could totally fit with Sheikah tech.

Re: Switch Pro Controller Has Just Under 500,000 Registrations On Steam

chagrined

I bought my pro controller a month or two before my Switch in order to use it on my PC. Had tried a friend's and it was the most comfortable controller I'd ever used. I have arthritis and all other game controllers I've ever tried pain me, but amazingly I can play on the pro controller for hours. I love that Steam supports it.

I only wish the pro controller could remember and easily switch between two paired devices without having to re-pair each time. Since I only have one right now I have to re-pair it any time I swap between Switch and PC. Maybe if they come out with a new variant I like in the future I'll use it as an excuse to pick another one up.

Re: Cities: Skylines - A SimCity Successor That Struggles To Shine On Switch

I've read from others who bought it that the frame rate issues really only show up when your city is big AND you zoom way in. So it's not like the game becomes wholesale unplayable once your city is large.

That said, I prefer to play this kind of game on PC anyway. (Though given my current PC I'm sure it would also slow down when zoomed, ha.)

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 6.0.0 Is Now Live

My surprise favorite part is BEING ABLE TO POST UP TO 4 SCREENSHOTS AT ONCE VIA SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING! Finally! Previously I was too lazy to take my SD card out and turn on my computer and put it in and copy the pics off it so I could post more than one pic per twitter post... So instead I would post 1 pic at a time to twitter, then quickly save the pics and delete the tweets on my phone so I could repost them together. But now I can post them together from the Switch to start with! I'm thrilled.

Re: Random: Recreating Nintendo Labo's Toy-Con Designs With LEGO Works Perfectly

Well, these aren't all "all possible because of reflective tape." The piano uses it, yeah, but not the fishing pole or motorbike. Those just use the accelerometer & gyroscope to measure tilt and motion. But yeah it's still correct that aside from the reflective tape you could basically substitute whatever construction material you wanted as long as it provided the same structure/motion capacity as the original. I've even faked the motorbike just holding my joy cons free in the air haha.

I saw these Lego things yesterday; the fishing pole is my favorite. I'd like to see someone make a fully 3D-printed plastic piano or something though. Now that'd be sturdy!

Re: Undertale - A Postmodern RPG Classic That Every Fan Of The Genre Should Play

I own it on PC but haven't finished it. I found the style/characters/humor EXTREMELY charming and yes the music is also great, but I dislike the bullet hell combat. It's not my kind of gameplay. And I second one of the commenter above me about the repetitive random combat encounters. I know that's part and parcel of the type of RPG this game is inspired by but it doesn't make it less tedious.

I do feel like I'd be more likely to enjoy playing it/finish it on Switch compared to PC, but idk if I care enough to purchase it a second time.
