Today sees the launch of Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer on the Nintendo Switch eShop, the game which takes characters we know and love from the Legend of Zelda series and throws them into a world of rhythm-based dungeon crawling.
With that release no doubt catching the eye of many, the original Crypt of the NecroDancer: Nintendo Switch Edition game has seen its price slashed for a limited time. With Cadence of Hyrule costing a (slightly) pricey $24.99, you might want to consider giving the original a try instead to save lots of cash. Or, perhaps the original could serve as a satisfyingly cheap starter for the Zelda main course?
You can find Crypt of the NecroDancer: Nintendo Switch Edition available for the prices below; pick it up directly from the Switch eShop:
- North America: Was $19.99, now $3.99
- Europe: Was £17.99, now £3.59
These deals are actually part of a wider range of E3 discounts. Feel free to explore the full North American E3 Sale and the full (but slightly less impressive) European E3 Sale.
Will you be getting Cadence of Hyrule today? Are you also tempted to giving the original a try at this lower price point? Let us know in the comments below.

Done! I will try this one before diving in Cadence of Hyrule.
I bought Crypt yesterday as it was so cheap. My logic was that I couldn't justify buying Cadence for £20 when the original was so cheap. That said, so far it's pretty darn hard and is probably going to take me ages to complete. As someone without much spare time for gaming I might have been better off diving straight into the sequel as that attracts me more. That said, it was only £3!
well i wish id never bought it a month ago lol
Bought it yesterday and played a couple of hours. I got my butt handed to me so many times, but for some reason I am still enjoying it.
The original is totally worth buying, with this price it's a no brainer. It is a great pick up and play game, full of charm and style!
yeah im interested in seeing if I like the style of gameplay before I dive into the zelda version. seems a bargain at that price
It's gone on sale for this price a few times now. Exceptionally great value for money. It's well worth full price.
@BionicDodo it was a clever move the price is so cheap a lot of people will probably do this. Effectively a £3 demo to entice people into buying the version with the popular characters and removing any barriers to the difficult looking game itself.
Got Cadence preloaded. Can’t wait till it goes live. Big fan of the original game.
Yes, its a great move. Nice price. I downloaded it too, so that I can get a taste before downloading Cadence.
@NotTelevision how?. Just says add to watch list for me
I was looking at a demo and although it looks interesting I've no idea what's going on. 😕
@KnightsTemplar It's not available for pre-order in the Australian eShop. It is in America and Japan.
Meh I just want the new zelda one.
Just purchased the game. Will see what I think before considering Candence of Hyrule.
Played it a bit yesterday and it was a little hard to get used to but once I did it was a lot of fun. Not sure if I could justify paying $25 for Cadence of Hyrule though.
Would buy both this & Cadence of Hyrule but I tried the Necrodancer demo from the Japanese eshop & the repeated button pressing for movement is terrible with my arthritis. Wish the Switch offered some kind of ergonomic controller with customizable controls... If only I could somehow use the Steam controller to play this it would be perfect since I could use the touch pad with no need for pressing hard. Well, I may buy Necrodancer on PC instead so I can play it that way but sad because that's obviously won't work for Cadence, which I'm more interested in.
Whaaaaat? This was my second-ever download for my Switch after Xenoblade 2. I'm pretty sure I bought it at full price. I wouldn't mind except that the game is so damn hard that I never even finished the second level. Can I have Cadence of Hyrule for free, then???
(slightly) pricey is subjective. But value for money is not. I would rather the review said not good value, wait until it gets discounted.
@chagrined maybe try one of the fight sticks that are available? With those you just tilt the stick, not press a button.
@bluesdance I hadn't considered a fight stick but that actually might work better. Although with a joycon/pro controller, repeatedly pushing the joystick with my thumb still hurts a lot, but with a fight stick I guess I would use my whole hand which (for me) would be a lot less painful. Also I wonder if I could get one of those ones with keys or whatever, that'd be good too. For now I ended up buying the first game on PC instead and it's definitely less painful pressing keys. But that'd be a good way to play Cadence... If I can ever find a good deal on a fight stick lol. Anyway thanks for the suggestion.
Nice but not buying it
