I got mine in '94 for around $400 with Magician Lord. That was most of my summer job money at the time. Didn't get another game until around 2000 when I started looking around eBay.

I suspect that the NX will be a handheld and console that use the same cartridges. The cartridge will contain lower res textures and the game's program. When you put the cart in the console, it will download higher res textures to internal memory. This would allow them to use smaller carts to combat the higher price vs optical media.

@Pablo17 What Hard Drive? The Wii U doesn't have a hard drive.
Nintendo opted for a flash chip on the motherboard which is much smaller and has a higher price per GB. Doubling the memory at launch probably would have added $50 to the price.
Going the flash route allowed them to a. have less moving parts and b. produce a smaller system. Though I am surprised they haven't released a 64 GB system by now, they probably think it isn't necessary since external storage is an option.
