Re: Nintendo Download: 7th January (North America)

I'm happy to see the light gun games. I had been wanting Wild Gunman ever since they brought Duck Hunt to the VC, so better late than never I say.

Now I wish Taito would release Operation Wolf to the Wii U VC as the Wii VC version does not support the Wii remote as a Zapper. Taito doesn't seem to be supporting the Wii U VC though, so probably not gonna happen.

At first I was really excited thinking we are gonna get TG16 games again, but most likely we are gonna get the NES version instead. Even though TG16 games are available on the Japanese Wii U VC, I don't think NoA or NoE is interested in launching a new VC system. I would still buy the NES port of this game though.

@OorWullie - Where have you heard rumors of Master System games coming? As far as I know Japan doesn't even have Genesis/Mega Drive games on their VC. Other than a handful of GBA games, Sega hasn't really supported the VC this time around, sadly.

@DylanCuthbert

I am a huge fan of your work and it's awesome that you are here chatting with us. Could you elaborate more on the legal issues involved with Nintendo releasing the game on, for example, the Virtual Console? Is it a legal issue involving the use of the FX Chip, or the game itself, or both? There is all kind of speculation, but since Nintendo is silent on these issues, maybe you could clear it up for us!

I think Nintendo missed a huge opportunity by not combining the Wii Shop channel with the eShop from the beginning. We could have had the over 300 VC titles from day 1 and played them like we do the Wii VC games from the Wii U menu. Some Wii U owners may not even know about the Wii Shop Channel in Wii mode, and Nintendo is missing out on sales that they could have had if the two shops were combined. It also would have been nice to let us use the Gamepad for Wii VC and WiiWare games too, but this is more easily forgiven. The lack of a VC at the Wii U's launch was the biggest reason I didn't buy one at launch.

@MoonKnight7

I agree there are scam artists on the eShop (NinjaPig Studios, I'm looking at you). It's just my opinion, but I really don't think Eli is trying to scam anyone. The guy really seems to be trying. Keep in mind too that he had to get approval from Nintendo to put his games on the eShop. Perhaps the eShop isn't the best place for his games, but I would blame Nintendo for that, not Eli.

I'm gonna buy this because Eli is a great guy who really interacts with his fans. He has kept his word about updates to The Letter as well. He has released one and another is on the way. Of course he still has a lot to learn, but he really seems to love making games and I don't feel at all that he is trying to scam anyone. I think if all game designers had his spirit the industry would be much better off.

Re: Hands On: Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter

I agree with Kirk 100%. There should be an adapter for those with old GC controllers and a new GC controller that has all the functionality of a pro controller, maybe even have an optional cord for those worried about lag. I would even pay extra for a controller like that.

The fact that they are making this adapter is so awesome, it's hard to believe they could screw it up. But leave it to Nintendo... As it stands, if they add Wii Mode support and support for other Wii U games, I will pick it up. But not for just one game.
