Yeah, I guess save states are worth paying $4.99 for. Look, I agree, different company, different policies. But as the video game industry is moving more and more online Nintendo is gonna have to evolve or be left behind. Judging by the handling of the VC and WiiWare, Nintendo has a lot of work to do.

@Bass_X0

The only difference is, when the movie was transferred to DVD the picture quality is improved and usually there are bonus features that weren't on the VHS version. The Punch Out on the 3DS is the exact same rom that was on the Wii. Also, Sony allows you to transfer PSone classics that you downloaded onto your PS3 to your PSP free of charge.

Re: Review: Stonekeep: Bones of the Ancestors (WiiWare)

I think this review is a little harsh, I'd probably give it a 6 or a 7. I think the game could have benefitted from classic controller support or a menu system, because the motion controls for the spells are pretty bad. The game is still quite playable and enjoyable though, and at $5 I definately reccomend it.

@grumblebuzzz -

What's wrong with obscure games? I'm sorry, you can rationalize it all you want, but there are so many games that could be released right now. Strider, Monster World IV, Super Street Figther II w/ online, Mega Man X2, Puyo Puyo Arcade w/ online, Super Hang On, etc etc. Most of these games have been announced and/or rated, so what is the holdup? I've got money for VC games,I guess Nintendo doesn't want it.

Re: Feature: The State of WiiWare

This article says the same complaints I've had about WiiWare and the VC for years now. WiiWare though is even more depressing though, because of all the small companies that could be hurt financially due to WiiWare's awful interface and lack of advertising. Somewhat on topic, I noticed the other night that Bruiser and Scratch by Steel Penny Games was not on the service anymore. Does anybody know anything about that? Is this the only game that is no longer on the service?

Re: 3DS Virtual Console Lands On Its Feet with Catrap

Just checked, they released Conquest of the Crystal Palace for the NES, D-Force and Lock-On for the SNES (Lock-On was pretty good from what I remember), and a few games that could be imports. Maybe if Catrap sells well they will want to support the Wii VC.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

@komicturtle92

Sorry if I misunderstood your original post. I have a hard time saying any game is more hardcore than another. When you think about it, Pac-Man could be considered the ultimate casual game. Anybody and their grandma could plunk in a quarter into the machine at the laundromat and play a few rounds while their clothes are being washed. In that sense it could be a casual game. But on the other hand, somebody could spend many hours playing it, honing their skills and mastering the game. So really, any game could be casual or hardcore, depending on how you look at it. As for people who say you aren't hardcore because you don't play CoD, I really don't care what they think. I play the games I want to play and they can play whatever they want.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

@komicturtle92

I get that you don't like the CoD games, but stop saying they aren't "hardcore" games. I think you are missing the point here and are being as biased towards Nintendo franchises as CoD fans are to those games. Just play games and have fun. I think anyone who puts in tons of hours into a CoD game is not a casual gamer.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

I think the terms "hardcore" and "casual" could really be called "part-time" and "full-time". If someone spends a lot of money on buying games and a lot of time playing games, you could call them a hardcore gamer regardless of the types of games they play or the system they play them on. If someone bought a Wii just to exercise with Wii Sports and plays it a few times a year, they could be called casual gamers.

To those of you on here saying it's the casual gamers who are playing CoD games, well what if those same people grew up with the NES and SNES? Would you say they were once hardcore but turned casual? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Some games may trend towards a casual market, but that does not mean that hardcore gamers don't play them too. What determines if you are a hardcore gamer or not is how serious you are and how much time you invest into the gaming hobby.
