Re: Talking Point: Time for Wii U to Treat Us Like Adults

C'mon Nintendo. Crap like this really doesn't help persuade people like me who are on the fence about buying a Wii U into rushing out and buying one. In the meantime, I'm having a blast with my new PS3 and still enjoying my original Wii. At the moment I could care less about Wii U.

Re: Talking Point: Selling the Wii U Concept - The GamePad and eShop

@Ren - I completely agree with you about the independent account. In this day and age, that should be standard. Another reason I am holding off is to wait and see what they plan to do with the VC. Will it finally merge with the eShop or will it be contained to Wii Mode? Will the games that transfer over eventually be able to be played from the Wii U's OS or will they be stuck in Wii Mode? Or worse yet, will I be charged again for the same game to play it out of Wii Mode?

When Nintendo can give some info on this, I'll consider getting a Wii U. For now, I'm perfectly happy playing my VC games on my Wii.

@Bliquid - They wouldn't even have to show us anything if they would just let us know what is going on. If they came out and said that they are working on an account based solution that will be in a future system update, it would put a lot of people (myself included), at ease. Or what about the VC, Nintendo? Are you planning on eventually implementing the VC catalog into the Wii U's eShop? It's this secrecy and so many unanswered questions that convinced me to spend my limited gaming budget elsewhere, otherwise I probably would have gotten a Wii U at launch.

@SCAR392 - "Maybe you just shouldn't buy a console and buy DLC for it if you plan on selling it somewhere down the line. That's all there is to it."

No, that's not all there is to it. Microsoft and Sony have been doing this since 2005 and 2006, respectively, and iTunes has been doing it even longer. And, no, sharing games is not the main reason people want Nintendo to do this. Nintendo could easily limit game sharing if they wanted to. The main reason is if your system crashes or if you decide to buy a new model Wii U (different color or bigger HD perhaps) you still have access to your games without having to send your Wii U into Nintendo to have them transferred. And I have heard several cases where Nintendo did not allow transfers on some Wii's that crashed. You're comment about not buying DLC is just complete rationalization. I would think Nintendo would want people to download more DLC, not less. And sometimes hardships come up where people are forced to sell their video game systems. People don't always sell their systems simply because they want what the competitor is offering.

With all that said, I do expect Nintendo to correct this down the line. If they want to be taken seriously, then need to. And, seriously, it's ok to question Nintendo's decisions. I will be getting a Wii U too, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna make excuses and rationalize everything Nintendo does just because I like them.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if I was interested in getting a Wii U on launch day, but it's something Nintendo needs to fix sooner rather than later. I'm hoping they will, as I do plan on buying a Wii U next year. Personally, I will be getting a PS3 on Black Friday to go along with my regular Wii

Re: TVii Application Won't Be Available On Wii U Launch

I tell you what, going by launch day pre-orders, you can call the launch a success. I just don't believe Nintendo explained the console well enough to where everyone "gets it" and wants one like they did with the Wii. Yeah, it will sell out. Hardcore Nintendo fans and people that have to have the newest technology right away will get it day one. But did Nintendo do enough to give this system the momentum the Wii had? I don't think so.

Re: TVii Application Won't Be Available On Wii U Launch

@LZBirdboi - Of course it's gonna sell out at launch, I can't think of a big console launch since the N64 that hasn't. Even the PS3 sold out at launch and it's first year or two was disastrous. They still could have done a better with the launch, and just because it sells out at launch does not mean it will continue to be a big seller like the original Wii.

Re: TVii Application Won't Be Available On Wii U Launch

After E3 this year I was really excited about it, and almost reserved one then. With the drought of new information, that excitement wore off, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that. If I was rich I would probably still get one at launch, but I can only afford one new console at the moment and I just don't see much of a reason to put down $350 (plus external storage) on a Wii U right now.

Re: TVii Application Won't Be Available On Wii U Launch

Simply put, Nintendo sold me on the Wii almost instantly. They have not sold me on the Wii U. We are two days from launch and there are still many details we don't know. In some ways I can see how trickling out details can build excitement, but waiting a week before launch before revealing critical details about the online service? I don't see that as a good thing. So, yes, I would say they botched this launch by poorly communicating information about the console.

Re: Classic NES RPG Shadowgate Getting a Remake

brooks83

@OtakuMan -
Are you Dave Marsh? Or were you involved with ICOM simulations and the original Shadowgate? If either of these apply, let me just say it's an honor talking to you on here. Shadowgate is seriously in my top 5 games of all time. I first played it on the NES as a kid back in the late 80's or early 90's and I fell in love with it. I also love Deja Vu and Uninvited, but nothing compares to Shadowgate imo.

As far as re-releasing your older games, what are the chances of getting your old Turbo CD games on the VC (Beyond Shadowgate and the Sherlock Holmes games)? Those are the games I'd really love to see, as I have never had a chance to play them. Would it be harder to get them on compared to the NES games? Anyways, thank you for taking the time to stop by and post in here with us, and I'm sure I could come up with some more questions for you!

Re: Isaiah Triforce Johnson Is Already Queuing For His Wii U

I'm not quite sure how he could be the first to buy one, considering all the stores in that time zone open at the same time and someone else at a different store could be ringing up at the exact same time as him (or sooner). First to line up, sure, but I don't think you could say he is the first to purchase one.
