Re: WiiWare Devs Call for More Advertising From Nintendo

brooks83

I think the Wiiware section of the Shop Channel needs a makeover. I think it could use an alphabetical listing of all the games, maybe with a screenshot of each game next to it. All you can do is search by publisher or genre. There are a ton of publishers out there for Wiiware and I lose track of what company made what title. Without this site and similar game sites I would be lost as to what is on the service. This is ok for the VC as I know what publishers made what games, but generally not with Wiiware.

I wonder where Capcom goes from here. All the SNES Final Fights and as far as I know all the console Street Fighters have been released. I guess they will finish up the Mega Man games.

On a slightly related note, where has Namco been? I don't think they have released a VC game (other than in Japan) since the launch of the VCA. Konami has been quiet on the VC front as well, but as far as I'm concerned as soon as they release Rondo of Blood they don't have to release another VC game ever again.

It's a point and click adventure, similar to Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, etc. etc. so if you like games like that it should be right up your alley. If you've never played a game like that, I still think it's worth a look. At least check it out on Youtube and listen to the great soundtrack

Re: Sunsoft To Release Telenet Titles On Virtual Console

brooks83

It's really refreshing to see a company this enthusiastic about bringing games to the VC. Except for maybe Lucasarts, Sega and Hudson Soft (although lately their VC support has dwindled), most companies just don't seem to care about the VC. So this is very welcome news, and I will support Sunsoft and try to download as many Telenet games as I can. I haven't played any of them, and like many people here I had not even heard of Telenet, although I had heard of the Valis and Exile games. So...thank you Sunsoft!

Also, @stuffgamer regarding Activision, they really didn't release a whole lot between the 8 and 64 bit generations. Most of their games came out for the Atari 2600. About the best we can hope for is maybe the Lost Vikings from Blizzard, other than that Activision doesn't have a whole lot to offer. Unless Atari 2600 becomes a new console on the VC.

Re: Bloody Wolf

Maybe I'm just totally missing something here, but on the Bloody Wolf banner on the main page it does show the Virtual Console Arcade logo, but then when I click on the banner it takes me to a page showing the original VC release. Was there a different announcement for the VCA version?

Re: Nintendo Blocking Third Party Releases On Virtual Console?

Beetle Adventure Racing was an Electronic Arts game. Maybe Nintendo rejected that game (it would have been a 3rd party N64 game too) because of all of their first party racing N64 games, and EA is refusing to support the VC after that. It's all just speculation here, but it would make sense.

Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see it being added to the VC (the more the merrier) but like Bass said, it's a bad port. The load times are awful.

Re: Review: Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

I never have understood the criticism of IGN. You guys know that they have a seperate team for reviewing Wii games right? There is a retro guy who reviews the VC games, but he has always been pretty fair in my opinion. Much fairer than Gamespot's VC reviews (they have only reviewed about 1/3 of all released VC games). But you never see the PS3 team reviewing Wii games and giving them bad scores because they hate the Wii.

Re: Secret of Mana

I just beat the game after playing it off and on for about 6 months or so. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't rate it as high as some people here have. 7 out of 10 for me.

Re: Nintendo Download: Pinballs, Fights and Gravity (US)

@Stuffgamer1 - Yes it's true that PS1 classics have finally picked up, thankfully, but it went about 2 years with hardly any PS1 classics. Other than 3 weeks in NA, there has been at least one VC game every Monday since the Wii's release. Still not bad if you ask me.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy (Virtual Console / NES)

brooks83

Well I think when he says it's a scientific fact, I think there is a tiny bit of sarcasm there. I mean obviously he thinks it's the best FF game, but I don't think he actually believes it's an undisputed fact. At the end of the day it's just an opinion, I'm sure there are games that you love that Adamant hates. Point is, don't take it too personal.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy (Virtual Console / NES)

brooks83

Why is everyone hating on Adamant for stating his opinion? I grew up with this game and was able to beat it (yes, the NES version) when I was in elementary school. If you use your head, it's really not that difficult. I have never played the GBA or PSP remakes (though the PSone remake was great), but I would be mad about them toning down the difficulty.

@Stuffgamer1 Who cares what your friend has to say about Adamant's opinion? As if your friend's alleged opinion somehow makes Adaman't opinion invalid? Considering you found the controls in Pilotwings to be too hard, I can understand why you think the NES version of Final Fantasy is too hard too, but why are you attacking Adamant? I grew up with the NES version of Final Fantasy, so it could be mostly nostalgia speaking, but I wouldn't change it for the world. And I also consider it to be my favorite Final Fantasy game.
