Now that you summarized the story, how about telling us if the game suffers from the same frame rate issues as the other WiiWare games in the series? How are the controls?
I think the Wiiware section of the Shop Channel needs a makeover. I think it could use an alphabetical listing of all the games, maybe with a screenshot of each game next to it. All you can do is search by publisher or genre. There are a ton of publishers out there for Wiiware and I lose track of what company made what title. Without this site and similar game sites I would be lost as to what is on the service. This is ok for the VC as I know what publishers made what games, but generally not with Wiiware.
JV Games redeemed themselves with Christmas Clix. Did you guys already forget about how shocked you were that they made a decent game? Cut them some slack guys.
I wonder where Capcom goes from here. All the SNES Final Fights and as far as I know all the console Street Fighters have been released. I guess they will finish up the Mega Man games.
On a slightly related note, where has Namco been? I don't think they have released a VC game (other than in Japan) since the launch of the VCA. Konami has been quiet on the VC front as well, but as far as I'm concerned as soon as they release Rondo of Blood they don't have to release another VC game ever again.
It's a point and click adventure, similar to Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, etc. etc. so if you like games like that it should be right up your alley. If you've never played a game like that, I still think it's worth a look. At least check it out on Youtube and listen to the great soundtrack
Shining Force is an amazing game and at 500 points it is a must buy. I would say it as every bit as good as the sequal, and in some ways is better I think.
It's really refreshing to see a company this enthusiastic about bringing games to the VC. Except for maybe Lucasarts, Sega and Hudson Soft (although lately their VC support has dwindled), most companies just don't seem to care about the VC. So this is very welcome news, and I will support Sunsoft and try to download as many Telenet games as I can. I haven't played any of them, and like many people here I had not even heard of Telenet, although I had heard of the Valis and Exile games. So...thank you Sunsoft!
Also, @stuffgamer regarding Activision, they really didn't release a whole lot between the 8 and 64 bit generations. Most of their games came out for the Atari 2600. About the best we can hope for is maybe the Lost Vikings from Blizzard, other than that Activision doesn't have a whole lot to offer. Unless Atari 2600 becomes a new console on the VC.
I'm pretty sure the arcade version of FF1 is on one of those Capcom Classics Collection disks for PS2 and Xbox. From what I hear though, the SegaCD version is virtually arcade perfect.
Welcome to the VC Majesco! Anybody know off the top of their heads what other games they own the rights to that could be on the VC? If they own the entire Absolute Entertainment catalog, maybe there is a chance we could see Super Battletank. Loved that game as a kid.
Maybe I'm just totally missing something here, but on the Bloody Wolf banner on the main page it does show the Virtual Console Arcade logo, but then when I click on the banner it takes me to a page showing the original VC release. Was there a different announcement for the VCA version?
@Kurachi I'm expecting a 6 or 7. And AVGN himself has stated that he doesn't neccesarily hate the games he plays, in fact he loves a lot of the ones that he has trashed. It's all entertainment.
Beetle Adventure Racing was an Electronic Arts game. Maybe Nintendo rejected that game (it would have been a 3rd party N64 game too) because of all of their first party racing N64 games, and EA is refusing to support the VC after that. It's all just speculation here, but it would make sense.
I can't believe all the complaining today. In my opinion, with this week and last week's releases, Nintendo has really stepped up their game regarding the VC. I guess people would complain no matter what though.
I never have understood the criticism of IGN. You guys know that they have a seperate team for reviewing Wii games right? There is a retro guy who reviews the VC games, but he has always been pretty fair in my opinion. Much fairer than Gamespot's VC reviews (they have only reviewed about 1/3 of all released VC games). But you never see the PS3 team reviewing Wii games and giving them bad scores because they hate the Wii.
Q4 2009 means the same thing no matter what time their financial year ends. Internally it may be different, but when they make a list of games coming out they aren't going to confuse the public like that.
I just beat the game after playing it off and on for about 6 months or so. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't rate it as high as some people here have. 7 out of 10 for me.
@Stuffgamer1 - Yes it's true that PS1 classics have finally picked up, thankfully, but it went about 2 years with hardly any PS1 classics. Other than 3 weeks in NA, there has been at least one VC game every Monday since the Wii's release. Still not bad if you ask me.
Well I think when he says it's a scientific fact, I think there is a tiny bit of sarcasm there. I mean obviously he thinks it's the best FF game, but I don't think he actually believes it's an undisputed fact. At the end of the day it's just an opinion, I'm sure there are games that you love that Adamant hates. Point is, don't take it too personal.
Why is everyone hating on Adamant for stating his opinion? I grew up with this game and was able to beat it (yes, the NES version) when I was in elementary school. If you use your head, it's really not that difficult. I have never played the GBA or PSP remakes (though the PSone remake was great), but I would be mad about them toning down the difficulty.
@Stuffgamer1 Who cares what your friend has to say about Adamant's opinion? As if your friend's alleged opinion somehow makes Adaman't opinion invalid? Considering you found the controls in Pilotwings to be too hard, I can understand why you think the NES version of Final Fantasy is too hard too, but why are you attacking Adamant? I grew up with the NES version of Final Fantasy, so it could be mostly nostalgia speaking, but I wouldn't change it for the world. And I also consider it to be my favorite Final Fantasy game.

Those limited edition Cursed Mountain games could be worth some money someday.

Cursed Mountain was one of the best games I played in 2009.

Re: Nintendo Download: 19 & 20 January 2010 (Japan)
Princess Tomato is one of the greatest NES games ever. Come on Hudson, bring it to the US, and soon!
Re: Review: Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Virtual Console / NES)
I'd like to see them import the original Doki Doki Panic next
Re: Review: Final Fight 3 (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
I kinda hope they release Final Fight Guy as well, just for completions sake.

@Starboy Maybe you recognized him from my avatar? lol
Re: Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
One of my all time favorites. The soundtrack is amazing.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2010
Yay, finally Princess Tomato! My avatar is actually from that game, so I have definately been looking forward to it's release.

Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Getting Long Overdue Western Release
Ironclad will be my first Neo Geo VC game
Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Getting Long Overdue Western Release
Rondo of Blood AND the return of Neo Geo on the VC? I'm happier about this news than our VC update yesterday!
Re: Blaster Master
@Bakajin: Your NES credit expires on the 31st, just in case you didn't know.
Re: Review: ChÅtetsu Brikin'ger (Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
SNK or D4 Enterprise, whoever is bringing this to the VC, if you are reading this...BRING THIS TO NA!! You have one guaranteed sale right here.

Re: ChÅtetsu Brikin'ger
Also, if this game does make it to NA, it would be a definite purchase for me.

So is SNK the official publisher for the VC version, or is this going to be another D4 Enterprise published game?

Re: Review: Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (Wii)
I'll admit it. I bought this game just to play Fate of Atlantis, and I wasn't dissapointed

Re: Nintendo Blocking Third Party Releases On Virtual Console?
@SuperSmashBrosFan
What are you talking about? Third party VC games show up on the ESRB site all the time.
Re: Nintendo Blocking Third Party Releases On Virtual Console?

Maybe this is why we never saw Beetle Adventure Racing...
Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
@Panda - while you're at it, maybe you can fix the duplicate entries for Final Fight 2 and ZAMN?
Re: Review: Golden Axe (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
ICEknight, what is wrong with the music in this release?
Re: Bloody Wolf
Anybody know where the official announcement for this game is?

Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2
By the time Capcom gets around to releasing SFAIII, the successor to the Wii will probably be out. So there is a chance!
Re: Nintendo Download: 04 November 2009 (Japan)
If D4 would just release Crystalis...
Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see it being added to the VC (the more the merrier) but like Bass said, it's a bad port. The load times are awful.
Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2
Capcom, I'll pass on this one. I know you have better games you can release.

Re: Review: Gravitronix (WiiWare)
For 500 points I may just pick this up anyways. Bruiser and Scratch got bad reviews too, but I enjoyed it.
Re: Nintendo Download: Pinballs, Fights and Gravity (US)
To be fair, the Japanese VC has slowed down drastically too.

Never say never. Yeah it has been a long time, but Vectorman took over a year to finally come to NA.
