Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

YoshiFR2

@Cia in your OP you didn’t say “you can build inside the levels” or “freely in the overworld”
You said “you can’t build anything freely” … which isn’t true.

Also, if there’s a building system in TotK there will obviously be a different menu to do that, akin to that BK garage. But that’s not the point. The comparisons come because there shouldn’t be this vehicle building stuff in a franchise where there wasn’t none before. Just like BK Bolts and Nuts. It ruined what Banjo Kazooie was before and people are afraid it will happen the same with Zelda.

Maybe you weren’t around when BK Bolts and Nuts released, but it ruined the IP to a point where it’s still asleep after almost 15 years. And that’s why people complain about that stuff.

Also, in Bolts and Nuts… In the overworld you can drive and move with or without your vehicle. The overworld is a HUB … or a really huge level, where you can get to the other worlds. Just like Mario 64’s castle.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

YoshiFR2

@Cia “have you guys even played that game?” … immediately goes to say:
“I don’t know if you can even get off your vehicle”
.
.
.
.
To answer your questions,
-yes… you can get off your vehicle.
-Yes, there is an overworld where you can move
-Yes, you could build anything freely

The comparisons are valid, as they are OBVIOUSLY, comparing only the “vehicle building” aspect of TotK because it feels out of place (just like it felt in a BK game)… not the whole game itself… as it’s OBVIOUSLY not a carbon copy of Nuts & Bolts

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 4th)

YoshiFR2

Theatrhythm Final Bar …. Bought the premium deluxe … over 550 songs with 3+ difficulties each … oomph got content for quite a while.

There’s a unique satisfaction to completing each song on the hardest difficulty that you can’t find in many games anymore. Totally worth the price.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Get Pokémon HOME Support In "Early 2023"

YoshiFR2

@TheDragonDAFan that is the concept of a game. For it to be a game there are a set of rules the developers choose to for it to be on par with the experience they are looking for.
Not a single game is completely free for you to do whatever you want to do, if so that is not a game. Even a sandbox has a set of rules.

That’s like complaining why doesn’t Resident Evil have infinite ammo from the start? "Why do they care how I want to play the game?"
Yes, you can do it eventually after you finish the game (in Pokemon's case, after a certain period of time) ... but NEVER from the get-go as it would ruin the experience they designed for Resident Evil. And that's only one example which can be applied to EVERY game in existence.

And that’s their reasoning, not mine, but I do understand where they come from. When you also have online play in the mix, I can see why they choose to add Home support after a while.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster

YoshiFR2

@Gerudo_Guy so you don’t share the opinion that this could be easily solved with skippable credits including the OG team AFTER the remaster team?

Don’t you think that is just being a contrarian just for the sake of it?

What I mean that there’s no room for discussion is that everyone should be credited for with their names. Not a “general sense”. As an animator myself I would be really pissed if I see the exact same animations I DID in the game that they are using right now and I’m not being credited for, be it 2, 10 or 50 years down the line.

That’s the concept of credits in the creative industry.

If your work is timeless, then it should be recognized as such.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster

YoshiFR2

@Gerudo_Guy they can have the spotlight by being first in the credits …. Nothing stops anybody to put the original credits too after the remaster’s team. That’s usually the way it goes in remasters.
There’s no room for discussion. Putting something as skippable credits for the OG team doesn’t mean much for you or for me, but it’s a whole difference for the teams involved.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster

YoshiFR2

@Rika_Yoshitake “No original assets remain”……no? And what about level design? Creature design? Sound design? Character design? Animators, Illustrators, coders, and a looooooooooooooong etcetera that is the base of the game. That’s basically the whole game in which the new team used a fresh coat of paint.

People keep forgetting this is a remaster… not a remake.

If I just paint over blue eyes to the Mona Lisa… should I just put my signature on it, claim it as mine and then say “thanks to the original author whoever he may be”?

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster

YoshiFR2

@B3RTAY you’re missing the point. Credits are not for you or the gamer to see or enjoy. It’s the mark for the developers to say “hey, I did this” and further down the line prove they were part of a project for future jobs.
You are completely missing the point about WHAT are credits.
Also, yes, the original team should be acknowledged, each and every one of them, because they were the designers and programmers that actually DID the whole game. The other studio worked on the painted canvas they already did before.

I REALLY don’t believe you work as an illustrator because you would know this, as it is the most BASIC thing in the design industry. And I’m saying this as an experienced digital designer with more than 15 years in the industry.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer #2 Breakdown & Speculation - Everything You Missed

YoshiFR2

@CazSonOfCaz you can’t be serious. Beamos are turrets with giant eyes … Armos are giant armored statues that come alive…. it totally fit with the weirdness of alternate fantasy themes. And besides ONE or TWO singles enemies are ok. You can’t compare that with Link riding motorcycles, flying on drones and traversing on giant cars. It doesn’t go with the theme.
Horses and beasts are ok, the ocasional enemy is ok, even the balloon fits the theme, but come on… what’s next… spaceships?
We don’t play Zelda for that kind of stuff.

I’ll leave the analysis of Indiana Jones for another time.

Btw, Armos are stated to have once been human soldiers that were turned to stone in the original game’s manual…. So that point is moot.
Beamos are like the predecessor of the Guardians… which nobody is complaining about them… they still fit.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer #2 Breakdown & Speculation - Everything You Missed

YoshiFR2

@smh yeah... and that doesn't mean they should have ... if that is the case then there's a reason they didn't do it for 25 years... because it was a ludicrous concept at the time as much as it is now.

It's tone-breaking .... its exactly the type of thing that the writers did with Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ...... aliens. Imagine if suddenly Indy finds a lightsaber and starts piloting spaceships. Will it still be an Indiana Jones movie or something else?

Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer #2 Breakdown & Speculation - Everything You Missed

YoshiFR2

@Uncle_Franklin agree... it was passable and an exception because it was an optional DLC, which, by design its understandable that you want to bring an extra oomph to justify the existence of the DLC.

But this modern type Zelda is not the reason I play Zelda in the first place and I know all the Zelda fans pre-BotW don't either.

This was an escapism from all those GTAs, FPS, modern settings we have all throughout gaming.

Keep Zelda exclusively to an alternate world unique old-fantasy setting.
And ffs ... get rid of the runes (or keep them, but don't let the game focus solely on the rune system all over again) ... we want creative unique items back.

For such an amazing experience that BotW was upon release... I think it did hurt the series more than it has benefitted it.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer #2 Breakdown & Speculation - Everything You Missed

YoshiFR2

I've played every Zelda since its release on the NES and I still can't get why I'm really not feeling this Zelda. It looks samey...

Not feeling the hype at all for the first time in my beloved Zelda series :/

And is it just me... but I don't think vehicles are suitable to the style of what Zelda is supposed to be or play.... a motorcycle was weird enough in the BotW DLC ... it's supposed to be a fantasy setting ... not this kind of weird modern-fantasy pseudo alien-steampunk style they keep trying to push...

Also, change the voice actors ffs .... or get rid of the voice acting. They sound really forced in their roles, it doesn't sound like a person is speaking naturally ... ALL OF THEM.... specially Zelda, Mipha and Daruk .......... and now it seems Ganondorf too.

*sigh ... disgruntedly clicks pre-order

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games

YoshiFR2

This year will be the year for a new FZero if the rumors are real. I think we will finally be getting WindWaker and Twilight Princess revealed for the second half of the year.
Pikmin 4 releasing soon is also a rumor floating around.
The only mystery now is Metroid Prime 4.
Advance Wars seems likely to release in these couple of months according to yet other rumors.
Also the third Xenoblade DLC releasing at the end of February surely.

Re: Video: With 100 Days To Go, What Do You Want To See In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

YoshiFR2

@MSaturn yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I realized it was the same map when I replied to you. "Maybe it didn't feel that bad because it was decades later"

I sincerely hope they give us a new map. Monolith Soft are really good at making landscapes feel unique and it would be wasted potential just to reuse the same map and not ask them again to make a beautiful world.

I'm genuinely worried about Totk, because, well, at least ALBW was a 20 hour game with the same map... I REALLY don't want to explore a 150 hour map twice tbh.

I do like much more a more focused Zelda experience like pre-BotW .... wish they can hit a sweet spot between old Zeldas and new.
