Re: Some Advance Wars Physical Owners Are Having Trouble Redeeming Gold Points

YoshiFR2

@bransby to be honest…. I can give a reason for that because I was part of the problem. I remember on the WiiU days going into the equivalent to GameStop in my country and just opening the boxes of rental games, taking pictures of the codes, and then redeeming the gold coins when Club Nintendo still existed.
I got Pikmin 3, Game and Wario, and other two good first-party games for free because of those coins 😅

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

YoshiFR2

@JohnnyMind and what does that have to do with a table top map? Suddenly the enemy’s dialogue appears like they were there, next to the CO playing this board game with you?
Naaah, sounds like a bad excuse for breaking narrative

In the originals you thought you were there, in the battlefield and everything was real, although in a cartoony world …. Not that I was playing a board game with toys.

All the games in the franchise have been playing with this style since Famicom Wars until the darker Days of Ruin. I don’t get why this change was needed, maybe they thought it looked cool, but it doesn’t.

Imagine Fire Emblem changing this perspective to a table top board game. Imagine them telling you that all these characters and units are just that …. Toys.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

YoshiFR2

@Joeynator3000 because it takes you out of the narrative. It’s the Toy Story effect. Even though it’s a cartoony world, you could get behind the story, but this breaks it’s own narrative wall.

You mean all this time they were toys? It was a BAD decision from WayFroward, albeit not that important since gameplay comes first here.

Dual Strike never had those borders that made it look like you were playing on a table top game.

Re: YouTuber Reveals Potential Location For Zelda In Tears Of The Kingdom

YoshiFR2

@RupeeClock about the music, maybe that there is not a single memorable piece, whereas all past Zelda titles have at least a track that becomes iconic for that game.

About the gimmicks. I’m not complaining about it having a gimmick, every Zelda has one. But being Minecrafty and Nuts and Boltsy is not what most of the people sign on for for Zelda.
Vehicles feel out of place for a fantasy setting, I mean, yeah, boats, wolves, birds, horses, and rolling Gorons, they all match with the tone.
But when you give Link a motorcycle, rockets, helicopters and off-road 4x4 jeeps and things out of a Battlebots show …. There you lost me.

If I wanted to scratch that itch I would just play Minecraft or BK Nuts and Bolts… not Zelda.

The central gimmick could have been that feature where you just combine your weapons and that’s it. The game could have been the same without the vehicle building to be honest.

Sometimes it feels like their only goal is to reach to the YouTube views and influencers marketing post launch strategy …. Which, this game having none weeks before it’s release, makes sense

Re: YouTuber Reveals Potential Location For Zelda In Tears Of The Kingdom

YoshiFR2

@Macnemo79 exactly, TotK feels like it was made just to satisfy BOTW YouTube viewers and content creators. In no way would the idea of a feature about building vehicles would have spawned without those people in mind. Feels COMPLETELY out of place for a Zelda game.

But let me change a bit my words.

I want Nintendo to go back and analyze what made Zelda special in the first place and mix it with this feeling of exploration we have in BOTW and throw everything else out. Because in retrospective, as much as I love BOTW … that’s the only good thing it has… the sense of discovery and exploration. Everything else is a bit MEH… and with time people started to notice.

At launch it was universally praised, I can count myself in, but as time passed, I started seeing that it was missing a ton of things.

Re: YouTuber Reveals Potential Location For Zelda In Tears Of The Kingdom

YoshiFR2

@Olliemar28 well, the ones people have been asking for years that were missing in BOTW.
From the top of my mind: unique items (not abilities), themed dungeons, meaningful side quests, unique bosses, no weapon degradation, real music, enemy variety, better storytelling, more towns and things to do in them, etc.

Some may already be there, and if they are, then better for everyone, but if they are not, then I hope people can see the game for what it is and don’t start hanging out 10s just because it’s Zelda.

And this is coming from a huge Zelda fan since the very first NES game.

I want Nintendo to take feedback seriously. Because we can’t have the luxury of waiting another 6-7 years to have this mix of what BOTW did good and what the previous Zelda’s did great.

BOTW had some great things, but it also threw out of the window many other things that made Zelda what it was.

And this formula, even though it’s relatively new, is starting to grow old quickly. Maybe the sense of a new Zelda experience gets a bit lost because it’s retreading the same graphical style, map, sounds, characters, enemies, etc etc for the third time. Playing already two “similar” loooong games in BOTW and Age of Calamity makes TotK feel (in my eyes) as a chore and time to move on.

Would love to be surprised and love the game though. But, at this time, I don’t see it as a GOTY contender as many people like to conclude without even playing it.

Re: YouTuber Reveals Potential Location For Zelda In Tears Of The Kingdom

YoshiFR2

I hope this turns out to be a good game, but not THAT great so Nintendo can start listening to feedback about what features we want back from the previous Zelda formula for the next game.

If people just regard this game as GOTY without even playing it first, it won’t give Nintendo reason for change.

If those features are already in this game, then great.

Re: Poll: What Did You Make Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Trailer?

YoshiFR2

@larryisaman obviously everyone jumped to that conclusion because that’s on Nintendo for their terrible marketing of the game.

If this trailer was released first and THEN the gameplay trailer, people wouldn’t have been that harsh with what was shown.

I love secrecy with Zelda… but since this is a direct sequel, many people needed reasons to see what is new compared to its predecessor.

We can all agree that the gameplay “direct” was TERRIBLE, since it only showed gimmicks that were unimportant to what everyone needed answers for …. Story, dungeons, weapon degradation, map, puzzles, towns, enemy variation, unique items, and a loooooong etc. …. But hey… they gave us vehicles nobody asked for, right?

You start with THIS trailer, build hype and THEN explain your new gimmicks ….not the other way around when there wasn’t a single noteworthy trailer A MONTH from release.

Re: Square Enix Adds 'SaGa' Series Music Update To Theatrhythm Final Bar Line

YoshiFR2

Also a tip for everyone: you can change the chimes in the options menu to a less intrusive sounds each time you press a button.
The new one they put ruins all the music, the other option is from the 3DS one in which is a bit more subtle but still noticeable.
I can’t understand how can anyone enjoy the music with that horrific chimes they put into this game.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer Calls Out Nintendo, Says Not Crediting OG Devs In Remaster Is "Petty And Ridiculous"

YoshiFR2

@Olmectron it’s not the same crediting a personal effort than a collective effort. You DO know DaVinci … but do you know the designer of the Omega Pirate? Or the environment designer of the game?

No…. I don’t think so. They want to put THEIR name out there whenever their creations are used.
And that’s a pretty normal and understandable thing to do.

I’ll even go along with your analogy… Even so, it’s not even good to put “based on the works of the 1519 Mona Lisa artist” … just put the damn name.

Next time, as someone else said… we will see a remastered Freddie Mercury album without his name in the credits 🙄
“Music by John Doe”

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer Calls Out Nintendo, Says Not Crediting OG Devs In Remaster Is "Petty And Ridiculous"

YoshiFR2

@johnvboy if being credited wasn’t important you wouldn’t have industry legends like Grant Kirkhope or creators from masterpieces like Metroid Prime complaining or feeling bummed out that their work from decades ago not being taken into account.

It’s not just for employment, as artists you DO kind of want your name attached to what YOU just created.

If this is a non issue… then why have the original credits it in games like Skyward Sword but not in Metroid Prime? Obviously the side that wasn’t credited will complain, don’t you think?

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer Calls Out Nintendo, Says Not Crediting OG Devs In Remaster Is "Petty And Ridiculous"

YoshiFR2

@Browny because they were not directly involved in this project but their WORK was 100% involved in the project since you know, it’s the original everything which is STILL present in the remaster, like I said, code, scripts, design, level design, creature design, music and a looooooong etcetera.

Should I repaint the Mona Lisa and sign it as only mine? Because, who needs prepetual credits am I right?

Should I orchestrate Zelda’s Main Theme and call it only mine? Because why does Koji Kondo needs his name as the creator of that stuff for all eternity?

Or maybe I should add a new cover to The Lord of the Rings and said I wrote the whole book. “Credit to the original author and team who wrote and published this book, whoever they may be” 🙄
Because it’s exactly like that, they just presented something pre existing with a new coat of paint and called them only theirs.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer Calls Out Nintendo, Says Not Crediting OG Devs In Remaster Is "Petty And Ridiculous"

YoshiFR2

He is totally right and there’s absolutely no valid argument that can come from any person in this board who changes the fact that they SHOULD have credited and the importance of doing so.

Just look how every musician in the Super Mario movie was credited, and how Kirkhope was left out with just “Music from DK 64”. Go look his reaction on Twitter and it’s totally understandable.

@browny it seems you didn’t really read the article. They didn’t work on this? What about (to name just a few) the scripting, code and the design? They are untouched! Why shouldn’t the artist of, let’s say, any alien creature be credited if they are still using their design? It’s not like the remaster team imagined everything from zero.

If I did artwork (created a creature or environment) in which the new 3D models were based on or updated I sure as hell would like to be credited. Because they are still using them on THIS game.

Re: Legendary DK Rap Composer Disappointed He's Missing From Mario Movie Credits

YoshiFR2

@SlowPokemon if it’s something shown or used as promotion and marketing material prior to the release of the movie, then it shouldn’t be considered spoilery.

Unless the creators really mess up like in Terminator Genysis trailers… but those were story twist spoilers … not just a 10 second rap.
I agree with NL, this story is out on every major news site.

Re: Soapbox: Nobody Does 'More Of The Same' Better Than Nintendo

YoshiFR2

@MSaturn you can add that the graphic style grows really old because, like you already mentioned, we spent 200+ hours with the same game … and what you forgot is that THEN we got ANOTHER game, a 70-80+ hour “spinoff”, with the same graphic style, sounds, characters, music, map, etc, etc.
So obviously it grows old and tiresome to see a third game with the same stuff all over again

Re: Soapbox: Nobody Does 'More Of The Same' Better Than Nintendo

YoshiFR2

Imagine, in an alternate universe, where Banjo Tooie isn’t the game we all know, and instead it’s a game where you have exactly the same Banjo Kazooie levels you already played all those hours before plus a few floating islands in them and four new moves. Don’t forget… you now can build vehicles to traverse the exact same levels you did before.

Doesn’t that sound FUN???

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

YoshiFR2

@Ratmasterd21 wait… youre saying that just because you and me bought OoT again, everybody else did? That’s not a metric in any way at all.
Your conclusion is that there were no newcomers for the 3DS port? That’s a bold conclusion.

Also, then you’re comparing overall sales vs day one? So, then you’re saying that the 30 million units sold of BOTW were in one day? If not, there’s no way to compare it at all.
Zelda was a niche franchise at the time. As well as most of gaming overall. There’s no way you can compare the importance of OoT over sales vs Botw in a world where gaming is more common and more people own a console than in the 90s.
There’s a lot of factors. Economic, more population, gaming being more popular, Zelda being more popular, and BotW catering to the “open world” “genre” which is super popular at the moment.
You’re comparing the importance of apples and oranges here, trying to sustain your argument with something as basic as sales.

You’re getting it wrong. I loved BOTW when it released. Do I need the same 200 hour game again twice with some new features? Absolutely not. (And not even after you put out ANOTHER 70 hour spin-off with the same aesthetics, sounds, enemies, environments, etc ….. ) it grew quite old.

And it’s not that I HATE the game… but I DO WANT answers as to WHY this game must be EXACTLY the same as its predecessor PLUS stupid features MINUS the features that everyone have been asking for (the ones I listed) since BOTW released?

What’s the reason? Only excuses.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

YoshiFR2

@Ratmasterd21 good for those imaginary facts you’re saying. How do you know people REBUY them? Do you have a factual number for that?
As well as the 95% you’re getting out of nowhere besides your imagination? 😛

And yes, you can play that game. What was the number of N64 consoles out there vs switch consoles?
Sales are not indicative of quality either, mind you

Also yeah… those took that time because it was a new engine and graphical style for each one of those. This is the exact same game plus new features. At least the other ones had EVERYTHING new.

And as I said. What’s the excuse for not having everything that made Zelda great WITH an open world? (I can give a crap about all this building and minecrafting nuts and bolts)

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

YoshiFR2

@Ratmasterd21 LMAO…. OOT took that time because it was a revolution in gaming at the time. You don’t simply take a 2D franchise and convert it to 3D without its historical merits and development time. And you can’t compare the sales because of the consoles they were on. Because if you add all the sales of OOT ports and remasters you get the same number.

So clearly people dig the traditional Zelda style. This new style is just dividing the fans.

You can have this style too AND add all the traditional features that made Zelda great in the first place. Not having them like themed dungeons, meaningful quests, a new map, different art direction (we’ve already had two previous games with the exact same art direction), a focused story, good bosses and unique items & weapons is a sad excuse for apologists.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

YoshiFR2

Also people keep forgetting that some of us are fed up with this “style” for Zelda, because we’ve had the same music, sound effects, graphic style, art direction etc etc for 2 games already!
BOTW and Age of Calamity. And pretty LONG games at that. So obviously, after playing around 300-400 hours of what “looks” like same games, then it gets tiresome and a bit of “I’ve seen this and that”, while the wow factor is lost. And to top it off, it’s the same map as it’s two predecessors?!

Can’t wait to leave this BOTW Zelda style and go to the next new thing. Shame we will have to wait 6+ years for a fresh new Zelda.

I never imagined in my 35 years of Zelda gaming that I would lose interest in my favorite video game franchise.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

YoshiFR2

There should be an option in the poll for DISAPPOINTED.

Just because a small segment of YouTubers got crazy and zany with physics, creating their “vehicles” is in no way a good reason to make new stupid mechanics around a game.

Leave Minecraft where it should be… but not in Zelda.

If there aren’t themed dungeons or items then you decided to focus on the WRONG features people were asking for.

You decided to focus on vehicles and crafting, but leaving weapon degradation? Same map?

If, like I said, down the line there are no themed dungeons, items, good bosses, then the fanbase will be split even more and that would be something to truly be worried about.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Gets Creative With Vehicle Building, Fused Weapons

YoshiFR2

Can’t wait for this to be the most MEH Zelda so we can go back to a more focused Zelda game.
Instead of stupid mechanics we can go back to what made Zelda great along all these years.

Let’s move on from BOTW! It didn’t need a samey sequel.

First time in 35 years I’ve been underwhelmed by a mainline Zelda.

If there’s no confirmation of real dungeons and bosses then I’m out until there’s a real analysis of what fans really want. Not just this “open world” crap where now the whole market is saturated with.

Great, we now have 2 games. Let’s be done with this… shame we will have to wait another 6+ years to see another game after all this feedback.

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time

YoshiFR2

I agree… even though the Tingle duology aren’t technically a Zelda game… they should be considered.
Also Age of Calamity is missing.

And … sigh … BOTW shouldn’t even be in the top 3-5 ….. I think many people see through all the wrongs of that game as time passes by

Re: Nintendo Reminds Us Advance Wars For Switch Is One Month Out From Release

YoshiFR2

@WaffleBoat I’m in a tight spot as I’ve been an Advance Wars fan all my life … and I’ve been craving a sequel since Days of Ruin 15 years ago.

But I can’t bring myself to play AW 1 & 2 again for the millionth time.

Doing just a remake of 1&2 was a terrible decision to ignite interest in the franchise again. As they could have easily made a third entry without the “3” and just a subtitle as not to scare new people.

They are great games though.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

YoshiFR2

@Cia English isn’t my native language either.

Anyway, people aren’t comparing the SYSTEM to how you will be able to build your vehicles. They are comparing it because there shouldn’t be “vehicle building” in the first place. Just like it was out of place in a franchise like Banjo Kazooie.

That’s the reason of the comparisons.

We don’t care if there’s a garage, or that you can build your stuff pixel by pixel in the overworld.

Zelda is a “medieval” fantasy world … not the next GTA.

Zelda has never been a sandbox. There are other games to scratch that itch.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

YoshiFR2

@Cia no, your grammar is completely absurd. I didn’t misunderstood your comment. It’s poorly written.

“You can’t build anything freely” can be interpreted in many ways.

And I NEVER said the Hub is the ONLY place where you can get off your vehicle. You can roam the whole levels on foot if you want to.

Also you keep editing and adding to your posts.

Nuts & Bolts is in no way an obscure game. I don’t know which generation you come from but everyone knows the IP and what Nuts and Bolts caused.
