Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

YessMasster

First of all, I like completing a game. I actually do. It presses a certain button in my brain that makes me feel good. But still, there are games I do not finish, some of which are awesome and some are not. The best of the former is Death Stranding. It's so lovingly weird, it's beautiful, it's well executed, its very immersive - playing it did feel magical to me. It's also long and repetitive, where it, to me, got past the point when I don't want to spend anymore time on. But I do not regret any second spent with it, I cherish it.

Other than the games listed I also enjoyed Aokana recently. Quite lighthearted, but it's partly about sport (fictional sport - FC, mind you), and those sports match scenes are executed really well, even though by VN nature they are quite static they did feel dynamic to me and always had me in suspension on what would happen next

@Dang69 Its very different when it comes to tone. AI Somnium Files is much more serious. And you don't exactly have open world here (in Dangnronpa you could go anywhere you unlocked). That being said I do love both games and both are great in their own way

Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro

@Trickbaby14 That's what movies are But honestly, im 35 years of age, with really cool job and great family, which are all awesome, but leave me with under 1h a game for gaming, and i also love gaming, and i love experiencing stories in games, so i'd rather play on easy and skip the nightmare difficulty challenges than get stuck with 1 game for a year

@FangerZero Yes and no. In my case my kids are so young that i refuse to play with them around and play during my commute, on switch and then 1h in the evening - sometimes not at all, sometimes bit more. During the day i'd rather play with them instead. It's all my choice

Re: Atlus Is Releasing Persona 5 Scramble In Japan Next February

@BarefootBowser Sure, Switch does have an amazing library and is a great console. That's why, when given a choice, I am buying games for this platform. Persona 5, however, has been in my sights for a long time and I'd really love to play it. Now, since I am a father of two young children I have very limited gaming time (mostly on commute and around 1h in the evenings), so I'm holding off Persona 5 for PS4 hoping it will come to Switch eventually, since it is a long game, it'd take me a year to finish it on PS4 at home. Now, i'm just using my ability to voice my discontent with the situation that it is PS exclusive (i dont cry because of that, I continue my life happily as I have so far) hoping that maybe it does reach a publisher eventually and they reconsider making a port. If no one ever mentions it then it is less likely to happen

@BarefootBowser well, I say that if a society feels its wrong to show skin, which is perfectly natural, and it's not even boobs, no actual +18 stuff, but violence or strong language is perfectly fine, then I will tell you there is something wrong with values of a society and it is a major problem whether you admit it or not

Re: Patent Filed For New Nintendo Switch VR Headset

While LABO VR was a cool gimmick, I would think twice, or even thrice, before buying this, unless there's some performance upgrade incoming. Playing BOTW for few minutes with LABO made me wonder when will I see my most recent meal again...

Re: Review: Astral Chain - Platinum's Best Game Ever? You'd Better Believe It

YessMasster

I think we all need to learn not to expect Ps4/XBone grpahics from Switch games - the system is technically inferior to those consoles and it's a fact. I do not mind, however. Switch has so many gems right now (FE3H, BOTW, XC2 to name a few) and that proves that the graphics are not a barrier for a good game. Sure, Astral Chain does not look as good as, let's say, Horizon Zero Dawn, but it does look really good, and especially after Nier Automata, Platinum games have earned enough of my trust to want to try this.
