Monster hunting is tough work, and if you want to get the kill or capture one, in most cases, you're going to need some items to help you out in battle.
To celebrate Monster Hunter Rise shipping more than five million copies globally, Capcom is gifting a commemorative item pack to all the hunters out in the wild. All up, you'll get 30 Mega Potions, 20 Well-done Steaks, 10 Large Barrel Bombs, 5 Mega Demondrugs, and 5 Mega Armorskins.
This item is only redeemable in the main game of Monster Hunter Rise and will require you to update your copy in order to be claimed. It also can only be claimed once from the Courier.

Nice! First time getting into Monster Hunter and I'm loving it.
Cool beans. Can't complain about free.
Just logged in half an hour ago and saw this.
Glad the game is doing well. Even if it doesn't clear World's numbers, it's already giving the other portable entries a run for their money. Kinda nice to see this series become such a massive worldwide hit.
Oh boi, and my MHR (CE) is arriving today
The numbers will keep getting better!!! Create good games and make banks.
@TheLightSpirit also enjoying it way more than MHW. The QOL bits really add to the game. Drinking potions whist still moving, rideable mount, pin pointed collection quests etc. I did complain that it was a bit easy.... Then i hit the 5 star hunts 😳
Nice you can’t beat free loving the game.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Haha yeah I was thinking it was a bit easier than past games, but then I saw the damage scaling of high rank (I used to play a ton of MH4U at G-rank but haven't played since World came out, out of principle) and it's almost as easy to get comboed 100-0 in high rank as it used to be in G-rank.
They hit extremely hard, and the movement is quite a bit more diverse.
I really enjoyed how Rathalos moves now as well, and how some monsters like Anjanath seem to have no weak angle.
Oh so what what I got.
@Blizzia i managed to beat my first Rathalos last night. The fight just went on and on. Pukai-pukai poisons me every time too 😂, although he isnt difficult really. Im playing with the great sword atm as its one i never really liked due to low mobility but its quite fun now ive learned all the charge combos.
@TheLightSpirit defenatey. The difficulty jumps considerably once you hit 5 star quests imo. Great game tho.
“To commemorate this significant milestone for our company, here are some extra coffee cups, some sugar packs (of the uncommon brown variety), some paper napkins, and some one-use straws!”
@Kidfunkadelic83 haha - yeah rathalos is mostly a test of patience really, and learning the cues for each move.
I haven't tried GS in Rise yet myself, wanted to make the rounds to test everything but I started with bow and absolutely loved it, so I'm still using bow.
Been enjoying a pierce build - it's quite challenging to ensure your shots always hit the monster from the back or front so they can pierce all the way through and deal max damage, but it's really dope
Hitting that Dragon Piercer at just the right angle and distance absolutely shreds all the big monsters too.
Ayyy very nice.
By the way a question. Is it better to slay monsters more than capturing them? I know you need to do both since they can wield different materials for some monsters but I dunno if it's generally better to slay or to capture.
@Blizzia never tried the bow. I went from long sword to duel wielding but as i had played them before i wanted to try something different so went GS. Its good but leaves you open alot of the time to get hit whilst charging.
How many until we get the prance emote though
@Yosher: Traditionally capturing beasts gives you more chances of getting rare items.
This is a lovely gesture. I've put in about 40 hours so far and I think I'm only starting now with using items like bombs and demondrugs in my hunts. These games are absolutely packed to the gills with game mechanics to sink your teeth into
The Demondrugs and Armourskins are appreciated! Lovely little gesture.
Ooh. Could always use more armorskins and demondrugs.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Sounds nice - Bow is kinda a case of either you do a lot of damage, or you do no damage. It's enjoyable to use and easy to dodge around with, but you need to figure out a monster's weakspots AND hit those spots to actually deal damage.
A really strong bow outside of correct range and hitting the wrong spot will do 1 damage - with correct range and hitting the right spot a hit can do 100+ damage (and often you're letting out 3-5 arrows lol)
Don't need it at all... but since it's for free and I'm so sensible, I'll get it anyway
@Yosher There is often some confusion over whether carving or capturing changes certain drops and I'm not sure what to believe any more. So now I only capture if I'm the host.
@Yosher You get more rewards for slaying than for capping, and some materials can't be obtained without carving, so in general, slaying is better. Capping can shave off some time from the quest though, so It's a trade-off.
@Yarec123 Some items can only be dropped via carves, some captures.
You can check the large monster log in your Hunter’s Notes to get a lowdown of drop rates.
The table can be deceptive at times, because it’ll list gem carves as 3%, but if you highlight that item, you’ll see it’s 1% from body carve, 3% from tail carve.
It’s honestly one of the nicest things this game has added. In previous games, you’d have to rely on external sources for drop rate info.
@Yosher Capturing ends the hunt sooner, but remember when playing online to just default to hunting and let the host decide whether to cap or not. They may be hunting for a hunt exclusive mat.
@Falk_Sturmfels That's good to know, thanks!
@Yarec123 Capturing can definitely wield some different rewards for a few monsters, I think the game tells you this in the capturing tutorial.
@Strumpan Capturing can also wield materials you otherwise wouldn't get from carving though. Both can give you things you wouldn't get otherwise. I don't know how much though and all, hence my question.
@TeeJay If I play online I play with friends anyway and not randoms. With randoms I'd probably worry too much about screwing things up. And yeah I know capturing ends the hunt sooner, but I'm asking mostly from a reward perspective than a time saving perspective.
Thanks for the replies all!
@Yosher You're right, you should choose depending on what you're looking for. But in general, you often (not always) get two rewards instead of three when capturing.
@Strumpan That's good to know for sure! The game probably doesn't tell you anywhere which material you get for capturing or slaying (or both) though I assume so that's gonna be a little puzzling.
@Yosher Oh, but there are percentages for capture rewards and carves in the page for each monster!
Edit: More specifically, under "Hunter's notes -> Large monsters -> Materials"
@Strumpan Oh that's really useful information! I've admittedly been a bit overwhelmed with information in the game that this bit flew past me entirely. Thank you!
Everyone talks about MHW's 16 million sales, but no one talks about Iceborne only selling 7 million. That means roughly 9 million people went in on MHW and opted out of its expansion. I suspect Rise will at least meet 7 million.
@Yosher You can get 2-3 parts by capturing. I did the hunt for Almudron and Mizu early, captured both and got 3 captured parts for Almu and 2 for Mizu.
@Bliquid The parts that you need to carve from the body, you'll probably get a much higher chance if you break the part. You can even return from the hunt sooner and still get the part in the rewards.
Now that I have all the amiibo layered armors this is just icing on the cake.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Same here, I thought it was easy at first compared to previous entries, but then I noticed when I hit HR4, monsters were taking too long too hunt. I have yet to hit HR5 since I'm taking my time enjoying this gem. I haven't had so much fun in MH since MH3
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yeah i was bit annoyed at how easy it was during the Village Quests and then i hit High Rank, currently farming Zinogre and oh boy he is kicking my ass haha
@WallyWest not managed to beat him yet. He whooped me the first 2 times 😂
@Shiro28 ive done a few of the 5 star hunts but there is a couple im struggling with now... See above 😂
@Ralizah It took World two years to clear 16.8Mil, that's across Consoles and PC... over two years. This is a timed exclusive on a single console and has already sold 5 million units. I'm hopeful that it will surpass world's numbers within the two year mark. Especially if they continue to add content to the game expanding the experience as they did for World.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Same with the hammer.
It leaves you wide open while charging, but with the wirebug you can get positioned for a charge hit much quicker and more precisely.
@Octorok385 I was noticing that as well. Iceborne actually didn't even break the full 7mil mark. Which means that Rise has the potential to crush World's sales easily.
Also, world was ok, but failed far too often. Especially if you had been playing MH since the beginning.
@Falk_Sturmfels if you check gaijin hunter‘s video about not to capture everything, thst is not true anymore
I finished the final boss in multiplayer hub and work on getting my end game builds
When’s it land?
Always appreciate free stuff. This game is on its way to becoming my favorite on Switch. I figured I might like it but I didn't think it would hook me like it has. Great to see it selling well and hopefully it'll lead to Capcom and Nintendo teaming up on some other franchises. Rumor is they're also doing so with RE, which is awesome if true.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Lol, same. Was a fun, easy, chill run until i reached HR 5... reached the Mizutsune "urgent mission" and i start to see people (and myself) falling and failing the mission many many times... now im in rank 6 and im scared. Send help.
