Re: Miitomo, Nintendo's Original Mobile App, Passes Away

Yasaal

A non worldwide release app which failed to capture the aspect of what made the (now admittedly old) Mii characters crashes and burns and has now been ended? What a shocker!

Seriously. Nintendo's bullish nature towards worldwide releases is not just one of the biggest reasons Miitomo died (and Fire Emblem Heroes not getting even higher sales) is because of selective regions. The first and simplest business rule for increased success is to make your products available EVERYWHERE. Then after Nintendo doesn't follow this they raise their hands up and say "oh we're ending the service". This is the same thing I said a few days back when Nintendo Mobile were complaining about low profits. Oh how hypocritical.

Rant over. Speaking from an objective sense, Miis are tbh dead. Very few recognise them now and though I have a huge fondness for them I don't think at all that using the Miis as your first step into the Mobile Industry is a smart one. Nevertheless, even though I love Miis, unfortunately the owner of the IP is the one I am furious against and can only say "Nintendo deserved it". Can't wait till they close down the next app less than 2 years in.

Re: Nintendo's Mobile Titles Have "Not Reached A Satisfactory Profit Point"

Yasaal

Well obviously. Nintendo acts pathetically overconfident when they refuse to give an app a worldwide launch (barring Super Mario Run) and then they have an issue with "not reaching a satisfactory profit point". Oh I'm fed up of this Nintendo Mobile.

Its pretty much common Business sense that having a wide reach of your product can obviously increase your sales and profit by a considerable margin. Especially if it's software but no, Nintendo will continue with their "traditionalist views" and only launch their apps on the countries they think will bring sales. Ironic considering they went with a modern approach with the Switch then why not Mobile?

If you want success you'll have to work for it, be modern and not be so hypocritical. People might damage control saying APKs can help but that's not a viable solution at all because it excuses Nintendo for their backward take on an industry that's all about moving forward.

@20wonders I'm happy that you're enjoying the 2018 God of War because I certainly didn't. It was pretty sub-par to me compared to the previous nature of the games and it abandoned a lot of it's previous principles and instead cloned Last of Us. Now cloning isn't a bad thing, but that certainly de-legitimizes the reviews that praise it for being "something new".

As for the Awards, it's pretty amazing to see Zelda win especially considering how biased (and dare I say it and how big of a sellout) the critics are. I was pleasantly surprised on that regard (and unsurprised because Zelda ) but I doubt I'll be seeing any such good choices. How can I say that? In last year's awards itself PUBG was nominated for GOTY, and that wasn't even out yet at the time (only a beta was available) and that game is practically dead now XD

Goes to show the lengths of how far these "critics" go. Yet, all's well that ends well, Zelda won in 2017, and that's all that matters for now

@20wonders I'm ashamed to call that game a God of War game though. Since there's not too many games that are actually GOTY worthy this year obviously this game will get the award. No surprise there.

On another note, I doubt Smash could ever be a GOTY title, it's a great game, just not enough to make all those irrelevant "critics" like IGN fawn all over it cause no graphics

I'm not so sure of Bayo and MP4 coming out this year though, and even if they do, the same thing applies to those games, although MP4 might win an award or two.

Since the awards for GOTY are decided by these irrelevant critics I won't be surprised if this overblown game wins. Why do I sound triggered? It's because the game is a disappointment... Speaking as a GoW fan.

@bluesdance Key word: Utilised

Games have used HD Rumble but none of them utilised the function properly. They just used it for some soft rumbles here and there and nothing like 1-2 Switch, which was a bummer since many games could have utilised this feature excellently. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Mario Kart, but it's HD Rumble feature doesn't exist since it's just regular soft rumbles...
