Re: Feature: 10 Series We'd Love To See Get The Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Treatment

WoottWinds

Beyond the arcade game FF All-Star Carnival which is #1 on my port want list, you could jam pack a Theatrhythm FFXIV-specific edition and release expansion DLCs for years to come (probably best they don’t go this direction as I would gorge myself to no end)

Outside of FF and the above…
-itching for a collective “Nintendo” one, or something based off all the incredible Super Smash Bros. arrangements.
-rights and licensing would be insane, but anime like Gundam (or Super Robot), One Piece, etc could make for really fun ones.
-while I’m sure sales would be generally atrocious and they’re way too niche compared to FF, KH, Nintendo, etc…a Ganbare Goemon or collective Game Arts (Lunar, Grandia, + all their old shooters) version would speak oh so deeply to me.

I own DQ Theatrhythm and had a total blast with it, just unfortunate that a lot of the DQ music sorta blends together for me / not my personal favorite music as a collective series. But the top-down gameplay and mission modes were super fun, huge shame it didn’t ever get brought over.

(also thanks for now getting me to mentally obsess over a Theatrhythm Xenoblade…!!! Time to whip out the 3DS!)

Re: Soapbox: Should I Wait For Switch 'Pro' Or Is The 'New' Switch SKU Worth An Upgrade?

WoottWinds

I really only have a few gripes with the original Switch...

1. battery life
2. charging port on the bottom
3. the friggin' kickstand

Suuuper happy to see the battery life get a solid bump, but I would at least also need a kickstand revamp for me to want to replace my original.

Having said all of the above...if they put out another "Year of Luigi" special edition anything I will be throwing cash straight up into the air. A callback to the Game Boy Color's Atomic Purple would most likely get me to do the same, as well.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3 2018?

WoottWinds

For "unannounced" stuff, I'd like to see...

-Nintendo Land 2
-Theatrhythm All-Star Carnival
-Luigi's Mansion 3
-Kid Icarus: Uprising for Switch
-Mushroom Kingdom Warriors
-TLoZ: Oracle of Ages/Seasons 2D Remakes
-Anything Super Mario RPG-related
-MOTHER 3
-Fishing Resort 2
-Pokémon Trading Card Game for Switch
-Animal Crossing
-Pikmin 4
-Starfy / Kirby Crossover
-Advance Wars

If they show off / give me any of those, my heart will be so happy.

Re: Video: Fight For Your Right To Eat Sushi With This New Sushi Striker Story Trailer

WoottWinds

Going for a pre-order solely due to it being developed by indieszero. Electroplankton, Retro Game Challenge 1 & 2, the NES Remix Games, and the entire Theatrhythm series are all some of my own respective system favorites, and anything I can do to throw more money at them is fine by me.

Curious to see how much content there will end up being, really hard to tell, but...giving it some blind faith. Also more than slightly desperate for a Theatrhythm All-Star Carnival Switch version, and, again: throws money. Fingers-crossed for you, Sushi Striker!

Re: Sega Announces AGES For Nintendo Switch, Mega Drive Mini Console

WoottWinds

Not the biggest fan of mini-consoles, pretty done with this trend. I've got enough to hook up to my television and fiddle around with, would much rather have each existing console with an available classic games section/virtual console, with everything from that console's lineage (and more) available digitally.

Having gotten that opinion out of the way, I would sell my future first-born for the SEGA CD and Saturn libraries being re-released in some form (Lunar 1 & 2, Popful Mail, Snatcher, Rise of the Dragon, Silpheed, Urusei Yatsura, Grandia, Vay, Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon, NiGHTS, Guardian Heroes, Dragon Force, Keio, Sonic CD, etc...).

Re: Competition: Win A Set Of Third Editions Books, Including Zelda, Dark Souls And Final Fantasy

WoottWinds

One of my top-3 favorite books of all time had a video-game adaptation, if that counts...? Brave Story, written by Miyuki Miyabe and translated by the amaaaaazing Alexander Smith (of Kajiya Productions - worked on FFXII and VIII, Vagrant Story, Ace Attorney, Tactics Ogre, MadWorld, etc...) is incredible if anyone here hasn't read it before. Overall feels like a dark / Japanese version of The Chronicles of Narnia. Explores a child's life in Japan with his mother in a really unique way during the first large part of the novel, and then gets into the fantasy aspect where it builds an amazingly creative and fleshed-out world. Inspired an anime film, I believe, and the PSP game, Brave Story: New Traveler, which is an extremely underrated RPG-gem for the system that was localized by XSEED Games.

Beyond that, currently going through The Witcher books (doing so before I play any of the games) and they are all PHENOMENAL. One of the best action/fantasy series I've ever read. Quickly (and very unexpectedly) bolted up my personal favorite book list along with TLotR and A Song of Ice and Fire. First two books are comprised of several short stories, and they set the stage for the rest of the series in a really cool way. The world-building, characters, morality, and pacing are all excellent. Highest recommendations!

Re: Dragon Quest XI On Switch Will Arrive "Much Later" Than Other Versions

WoottWinds

So, my thing is, just about the entire DQ western fan-base has pretty much solely been on the DS/3DS for...how long now? I think it’s a huge shame not to finish the console off strong, and, maybe speaking for myself, but I’d assume most DQ fans at this point would absolutely buy the 3DS version first instead of waiting till 2019/2020 for the Switch.

While a totally different company, reminds me of what happened with the original Ni no Kuni which also did not make me a happy man. Bought the JP DS version and it's beyond delightful + so different than the PS3 version.

I’m in that entitled gamer mode where 75% of me is jumping up and down because, “HELL YEAH, DQ XI!!!”, but then the other 25% is not completely satiated and will whine endlessly about it while hating myself every step of the way. Yay?

Re: Final Fantasy And More Could One Day Arrive On Switch As Square Enix Considers Future Ports

WoottWinds

Give FF5 & 6 the remakes they deserve, please...

...also bring on the upgraded FF Tactics, Tactics Advance/A2, Vagrant Story, Tactics Ogre, Chrono Trigger/Cross, FF4 Complete, FF7~9, Mana Collection, DQ1~9, Musashi, Front Mission, all the SaGa's we did and never got, Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean 1 & 2, Live A Live, Chaos Rings 1~3, and hell even throw in some Hanjuku Hero, please.

Re: Yacht Club Games Announces More Shovel Knight amiibo

WoottWinds

A+ trailer, man that gave me a great laugh.

Definitely happy to see more Shovel Knight love, but am slightly concerned at the "quality" of these. Colors do look a bit off and lackluster, and considering how vivid some of the more recent amiibo have been turning out (come to me, squishy Metroid...), I hope we'll see a change before release.

Re: 'Battle Inspired' Rewards Added to My Nintendo in North America

WoottWinds

Tank Troopers looked fantastic to me, but the lack of online MP for a game like that is ridiculous... Considering picking it up with the discount, but I honestly hope they just take and re-make it for the Switch. Can't imagine it did too well for 3DS, which is a shame with how unique and polished it looks.

To anyone who owns it: worth it solely for the single-player missions? With no MP bots or online play, I know I'm not going to find anyone else in my area to go local with.

Re: Piczle Lines DX to Bring Its Own Spin on Artistic Puzzles to Switch

WoottWinds

Waaaaay back in the VERY early iOS days, I was obsessed with the PathPix games by Kris Pixton/KpixGames (which I'm going to assume the Piczle series took the concept/mechanics from), and this trailer certainly gave me a huge dose of puzzle'ing nostalgia. Anyone into the Picross games I think would really enjoy this style of puzzle, they're very fun and can get incredibly tough in the bigger stages.

This is for sure going on my wishlist, and for now I'm going to be re-downloading some PathPix on my phone...

Re: Nintendo Download: 27th July (North America)

WoottWinds

Going with Pac-Man VS free, Miitopia, and Hey! Pikmin this week.

Disappointed the far superior Ms. Pac-Man is not included in the collection. With the original and VS getting spots, I honestly would've really considered picking this up had it been included as well. Ah well.

Re: Review: Miitopia (3DS)

WoottWinds

Demo started out painfully slow, but about halfway in, it really started to click with me. I had a great time with Tomodachi Life but Miitopia's demo gave me the feeling it was way more substantial. By the time I finished it I was seriously considering a purchase, and then the great Amazon Prime Day 2017 glitch came about and I scored it + Hey! Pikmin for ~$6 each!

Excited to see the game through, was definitely an unexpected surprise and am happy to see it getting well-reviewed!

Re: Video: Sonic Utopia - The Ambitious Fan Demo That Might Be Better Than Some Official 3D Sonic Games

WoottWinds

If SEGA could pull something like this off in a way that makes the level / world design "purposeful" and full, it could really be incredible. ...though I guess that's sort of what Sonic Adventure attempted. I bet it's hard to maintain the feel of the classic games in a more open-world type, but, if they could finally crack the best way to do that, I'd be on cloud nine.

Re: Ichiro Hazama Would Like to Keep Making More Theatrhythm Games

WoottWinds

I'd be down for a Nintendo Theatrhythm or a full blown Square Enix one. Like, go all out on every SE series besides FF and DQ which already have their own games: Chrono, Kingdom Hearts, Mana, Front Mission, SaGa, NieR/Drakengard, Star Ocean, World Ends With You, Vagrant, Bravely Default, then throw in some Super Mario RPG for being on a Nintendo platform!

Re: Interview: Localization Specialist Thomas Lipshultz on Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale

WoottWinds

Late to the party but just now got around to reading this. Tom is such an incredibly great guy, I've had the pleasure of watching all of his translated works for the Popolocrois anime and he did a truly fantastic job. Both of the series are so endearing. Had this on pre-order the second it went up, hearing it got extremely good press at E3 made me giddy. This series deserves to shine, and I couldn't be happier that Tom and XSEED are at the helm.

Re: Poll: Which Characters Do You Want to Win the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot?

WoottWinds

***ANYONE from Super Mario RPG: Geno / Mallow / Frogfucius / Booster / Axem Rangers***

...and then...

-Andy or Sami, just, someone from Advance Wars perhaps...?
-King K Rool
-Captain Toad

THIRD PARTY:
-Crono
-Bayonetta
-Snake
-Shantae
-Bomberman
-Banjo-Kazooie
-Phoenix Wright
-Klonoa
-Shovel Knight

Re: Interview: Nintendo's Damon Baker on the eShop Team, Reaching Out to Indies and Finding Games That Matter

WoottWinds

The decision for the "New XL"-only release will never not sound absolutely ridiculous to me. Look at the US Amiibo sales, the "core audience" here is pretty dang powerful and faceplates would've done phenomenally. It's just silly to have the console release in every territory except the US, and I completely agree with others in saying that getting rid of the region-lock would've alleviated a lot of negative response from fans. Also the name. Dear god the name. Nintendo 3DS Pro would've been perfect, Super Nintendo 3DS is alright, but New Nintendo 3DS is legitimately the worst possible branding.

Appreciate his comments on wanting to communicate with fans directly, interested to see if it will ever happen though, Nintendo has always been so guarded. Treehouse Live at E3 was phenomenal though, and I always love all the Nintendo Directs and Iwata Asks. Hoping they will keep those going.
