Bayonetta 2, Fantasy Life, and Pokémon Art Academy on the same day, with Smash 3DS coming out earlier in the month....? Why would you do this to my wallet, Nintendo......?!?!?
No hesitation on my end, pre-ordered these and the Mario Kart 8 DLC right as they went available. Will do the same with the new 3DS as well! Go Nintendo gooooo!!!
Kid Icarus is one of my absolute favorite games of all time, despite the controls. I would kill to see Nintendo make an HD remake for Wii U, it would be goooorgeous and they could fix all the control issues. Gonna go listen to the soundtrack now....
@3dcaleb I do indeed, though to be honest I don't have an actual Vita system strangely enough, just the game for the sake of collection I've been playing it though on my 3DS mainly, love having the map on the bottom screen and the graphics are really incredible. Everything runs super smooth and looks great! I will say though that there is NO 3D effect whatsoever, except for the cartridge logo on the home screen before going into the game...
@BakaKnight I bought all the retail and digital versions for every plat on release (super big One Piece fan), and I can tell you that both the Wii U and 3DS digital versions had the Day One content available to download for free along with another piece of DLC, the "Red Stands Alone Quest". Granted I did buy them the day they came out, but I would be shocked if they have already taken that off. In comparison, the PS3 and Vita versions do NOT have the Day One Content for free on the PSN store, only the Red Stands Alone Quest.
Think I'll probably wait on the paid DLC though, I know the EU version came out with a complete DLC pack and I'd rather hold off to see if we get that brought over.
Only thing I am really wondering is if the paid DLC is 3DS / Wii U cross purchase compatible, especially since save data can be transferred....
Kirby Canvas Curse was one of my all time favorite DS games, totally freaked out when I saw this announced. With how often they switch up Kirby's gameplay, I didn't think they'd ever revisit the Canvas Curse style, and I looooove the claymation look!! Still hoping that one day we'll see a Tilt 'n' Tumble 2...
@Jeremy_Fisher "I wish everyone would just see people as 'people' and not 'black, white, gay, straight, woman, man' etc, We're all people, and people love people. There should be no judgement based on who it is we love, as we have no choice over the matter."
Just felt like this needed to be reiterated, you worded it beautifully. Personal thanks to @Jeremy_Fisher @HylianJowi @hiptanaka @Bluezealand and many others for contributing to this post positively and intellectually, you guys have said your piece much more eloquently and level-headed than anything I could've typed out.
I'm of a mind that love is love and people are people, I hate labels in general, and while I've only ever been attracted to women in my life, I'd have no issue if I met a man who made me feel the same way. Everyone is different, and it baffles me that something as wonderful as loving and caring for another human-being is seen as "wrong" or "sinful" if it's not a+b. So many better things in the world to get bent out of shape over besides two men or two women kissing eachother and/or having loving relationships.
On the topic of the actual game, while I'm extremely disappointed Nintendo doesn't have an option for same-sex marriage/relationships (especially since New Leaf took a few steps towards being progressive about gender identity and such), I'll still be buying it for both my girlfriend and I just because it looks like fun, I'm interested to see how everything works, and I really dig the quirky vibe. Nintendo's presentation on it pretty much auto-sold me honestly. Personally, it will fail as being a life-simulator without same-sex relationships as most of my best friends are gay, but I will be sure to voice my disappointment to Nintendo directly (and politely) through email, Club Nintendo surveys, and whatever alternative ways I can find to do so.
@DestinyMan Yup, I did the exact same thing with Brawl, which is why I was hoping to not do that again this time around, but I suppose that's a pretty impossible task. Oh well.
Guess I just don't get the fascination with finding out every little thing about a game before its released. Trailers and screenshots show off almost every location from a particular game, some even give away big plot points, but those are at least easy to not look at if you don't want to. Saying, "___ is a secret character in Wonderful 101", "Laharl turns into a ____", "____ dies in Arkham City", "____ stage/character in Super Smash", or "____ is a new world in Kingdom Hearts" in the headlines is what gets me angry. Most sites (not accusing one over any of the others) will say all the cool/exciting stuff in the title to get people to look, and I miss the "surprise" aspect of gaming. /rant end
Is there any good gaming site on the internet that doesn't "spoil" the SSB character announcements....? Or at least not directly in the article headlines? Not gonna complain in a way to make it seem like I expect everyone to cater to me, just curious. Kinda miss the days where you found out all this kind of stuff in-game, and if there's a game I 100% know I'll purchase, I stay away from ALL media regarding it to keep it as fresh an experience as possible. But I don't necessarily want to turn off the internet to avoid SSB "spoilers" since every site seems to be doing it along with the Smash site updates. If not I'll deal, just wondering!
Super freaking excited for this. Can't wait to see how it progresses, reeeeeally hope we can see the game funded and then some, and maybe even eventually get some of the out-of-reach stretch goals as future DLC! Also can't wait to pick up Pirate's Curse, it's looking really really strong, and I'm hoping it'll be more substantial than Risky's Revenge which was over way too quickly for me!
Also that HD original Shantae remake mention almost killed me. Dear god would I have loved to have seen that... Maybe we can hope for an eventual retail Shantae trilogy release, WayForward...? Shantae remake, slightly updated Risky's Revenge, and Pirate's Curse all on a 3DS cart?? Eh???
EDIT: Also, thank you Nintendo Life for the fantastic interviews. Favorite part of this site, you guys are awesome.
Happy to back anything Shantae related, one of my favs. I don't know if it's popular enough to hit most of the stretch goals (which is a shame because I want ALL OF THEM), but I'm really hoping it at least gets funded. Really thinking Shantae, Shovel Knight, Mighty No. 9, and Project Phoenix should help and promote each other to get more support.
@MathRaph Not sure honestly, I haven't seen it announced there yet. But for EU/US gamers who want to import English language games, definitely a cheap win!
I think the 2DS is a PERFECT cheap option for people looking to get a console to play import games. Seriously, I can finally play all the EU One Piece games now
I'm used to missing out on these kinda things since I always buy Nintendo consoles on release, but usually it's not quite so soon.... This one hurts a little, that controller is really pretty.
Ah man I was hoping for an original remake. Like, we're getting the original story for an anime movie, why not remake good old Red and Blue/Green for the WiiU.....? Got my hopes up a little.
I also have no idea why Nintendo hasn't put up an eShop (on either 3DS or WiiU, or both) online Pokémon Trading Card Game. Would make them a boat load. Could have competitions and tournaments, people could buy booster packs like DLC if they wanted, use the gamepad or 3DS bottom screen to hold and play cards, etc... They already made that online browser version, no clue why it isn't on their consoles yet.
@RantingThespian Right there with you (if you can't tell by my avatar). I really would love to see Geno and Mallow show up somehow though, whether it's in an entirely new SMRPG game, a 3DS port of the original, Smash Bros., and/or Mario & Luigi. I remember freaking out over the little Geno easter egg in Superstar Saga, and if they could both be actual characters again (even in tiny NPC roles), it'd be insanely cool to see.
Really exciting to hear their names mentioned by the developers though, still a little bit of hope even after all these years! As much as I adore the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games, Super Mario RPG will always be my top favorite.
I know it's ridiculous, but dammit I am so excited for this. It does look like a really fun game, and I'm glad something this "quirky" got the opportunity for localization. As with everything published by XSEED, this will be a day-1 buy for me. WOOO!!!
The manga is doing well in the states, and it's been popular in its re-airing on Toonami as well. Baffling as to why Namco Bandai continues to give lackluster support to One Piece video games. I seriously hope they at least consider a digital eShop release, with it already getting an english translation, it makes no sense as to why they wouldn't bring it over digitally (at the least).
SO excited!!! Now all that's left is Bravely Default, Dragon Quest VII, Rocket Slime 3, Terry's Wonderland, Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Senran Kagura Burst, and Time Travelers... I must have them alllllll...
I don't mind ports as long as I feel they make it "worth it". For example, I really think that Darksiders II should've taken the opportunity on Wii U to be the complete version, with ALL the DLC and extra content included, not just some. Heck, maybe throw in the first game too. Same with Mass Effect 3, it just wasn't worth buying on the Wii U. With the Trilogy being pretty much simultaneously released on the other platforms, buying and only having access to game #3 of a series for Wii U didn't seem like a good value (especially when adding in that it was never supported with any of the future DLC). Batman AC at least included everything, as it sounds like Deus Ex will do along with adding some additional stuff. Those are ports I feel like I can get behind, they at least seem purposeful.
Having said that, Nintendo needs to get on nabbing these studios to have them release their games simultaneously with all the other consoles. Having them come way down the line after most everyone has already played them is always going to be a hard sell.
This has been by far my most anticipated title since the moment it was first announced. Luigi's Mansion for GCN is one of my all-time favorites, and playing it has been a yearly tradition for me every single Halloween since its initial release. Never thought the game would get a sequel, so stoked and can't wait to go pick up Dark Moon next week!
Poor guy, that's really sad to hear. Hopefully he puts his health in front of his work obligations, his well-being is much more important than any game.

Got to try it out once at a Costco yeeeeeeeeears ago as a kid and played some Tennis and Wario Land, remember having a total blast. Great interview!
I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning, seriously. This was an amazing presentation by Nintendo, every single thing about it made me squeal with joy. System updates, Miiverse stuff, new 3D Mario from the amazing Galaxy team, Mario Kart, Yarn Yoshi, new Zelda, Wind Waker HD, and the promise of seeing most of these at E3 along with the new Smash Bros.? Freaking fantastic. Then the Monolilth Soft "X" trailer at the end, dear god, my jaw was on the floor. Already looks like it's shaping up to be an incredible successor to Xenoblade.
And the VC "upgrade" pricing for things you've already purchased I feel is completely fair (honestly thought it was going to be much higher), and I can't wait to see more systems and games added to that service. Hopefully it's supported better than the original VC. Nintendo continues to have all of my gaming love.
Oh XSEED, your generosity is rivaled only by your dashingly good looks. Will be buying a couple copies of this on release, also hoping this relationship with Nintendo will continue in the future should a superhero once again need to rise to pick up games they decide not to localize. May bacon rain down upon your faces <3
@Prof_Clayton Aww that's disappointing to hear, thanks though for letting me know! It makes sense with the 3D shift since they'd all have to be different sizes, and it isn't too "realistic" to have a Gyarados following you everywhere, but I wonder why they took it out in the others... Guess I'm behind on my Pokémon news!
I have something I've been wondering, with the new perspective shift, will there be no Pokémon following you while running around? I don't think I see any in the trailer. Granted it has been since Pearl since I've played a new Pokémon game, but hasn't that been a feature since? It's a little thing, but something I really enjoyed.
Gah!! I wish they would've sent out an email letting people know that they were doing this at a certain time if they were so dang limited. I hate stuff like this, makes me feel like I always need to be checking internet updates so I don't miss out on cool stuff. Bleeeeeh....
I'm waiting to hear something about anti-glare screen protectors after seeing all the videos of people playing the 3DS, the amount of reflection is just insane. Although I'm not sure if any type of screen protector would affect how you see 3D on the top screen...
Has Nintendo commented on the last screensaver release, or figured out if this one actually work on Macs...? It's a little sad when they actually have an option for Mac's and they don't seem to work, I wonder if anyone tested them.
Still don't know why they refuse to add back in "huzzah!"... It's such a simple fix, Balrog has been pretty much recognized by it from the original english translation, and it's something I know a lot of fans were kinda ticked at Nicalis about when they changed it for the Wii version. "Oh yeeeah!" just seems way to cheesy to me... I know it shouldn't matter too much, but for me personally, it just took away a little part of what made Cave Story (and Balrog in particular) really hilarious, and replaces it with a lame Kool-Aid reference. Instead of getting excited for his in-game appearances like I used to, I now just kinda groan when playing the Wii version. Definitely has left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth, but I guess there is nothing I can do other than complain/rant about it on the internet! Oh well.

Oh well.
Re: Shantae: Risky's Revenge Soundtrack Now Available
Left him $5, super excited for the game and WayForward deserves to be supported in every way. Next Monday can't get here soon enough!!
