Sushi Striker is one of those games which could end up slipping under the radar of many, yet it's shaping up to be quite a experience for puzzle fans. To ensure it doesn't get ignored in the pre-E3 crush, Nintendo has released a story trailer for the title.
Set in world where (gasp!) sushi is outlawed, you must step into the shoes of orphaned hero Musashi - who is playable as either a male or a female avatar, we should add - and encourage people to start gobbling down large portions of raw fish once more.
Sushi Striker is coming to Switch and 3DS on June 8th. Yum.

I really want a demo for this game so I can decide if I want it or not.
@Fake-E-Lee not sure if you own a 3DS. but it $40 on there.
on the other hand. i can't blame you for waiting on a demo. i hope they have demo for it.
what a horrible world to deny the tastiness that is sushi. I would lead a rebellion too.
Musashi's voice sounds like Naruto for both Japanese & English dub. 😀
Okay, so the gameplay was basically stack the Same model Sushis as many as you can, eat all of them & quickly throw the stack of plates onto my opponents.
Sounds tricky and interesting. 😀
Not sure if the 3ds version will be better since it seems like stylus play might be better?
@JRJalapeno
I can't imagine how do i play the Switch version in Dock Mode ?
Probably i should move the Joy Cons to stack the Sushi plates.
I can’t imagine this game selling very well at the price they are asking. I’m intrigued by it, but not $40 or $50 intrigued.
@Anti-Matter I'm pretty sure Musashi's voice was Nate from the Yo-Kai Watch dub.
Then again, I've never watched Naruto, so we could both be right. 😃
@JRJalapeno They confirmed touchscreen support for both versions, as well as button controls.
Utterly absurd. I want it.
Price seem way to high for this kind of game, but I might get it when it either go's on sale for Cheap like $20 for the Switch version not going to pay $50 for it.
@MH4 @Anti-Matter from what i watch of Naruto. Naruto was voiced by a woman in english. while musashi sounds like being voice by a guy.
@Anti-Matter might be right about Musashi's Japanese voice though.
Price on this is out of the world
It looks like a fun enough little eShop title.
...But as a retail title I'm really struggling to justify it to myself.
I mean you could buy Celeste and Golf Story and Starview Valley for $50 and be glued to your Switch for months, or you could buy... 'Bejewelled with Fish'.
Okay that's a crude analogy it's not all that much like Bejewelled and not all sushi contains fish (hello tamago nigiri).
But still.
@Anti-Matter @Aozz101x To clarify, I was talking about the English versions of everything.
Hopefully it'll be available with the original Japanese dub...
Meanwhile NintendoUK have uploaded the main theme karaoke version!
This looks like a neat little puzzle experience, but not a $50 one...
Hopefully they have some more gameplay presented at E3, and maybe some demo stations here and there afterwards. It seems like a fun game, and deserves to get some attention so that it doesn't slip under the radar.
Has anyone done a comprehensive look on which one to get? 3DS or Switch?
This is another game that looks fun, but they priced it completely wrong.
$10 - $15 seems about right for this style of game, but even if they put it on sale I can't ever see it reaching that price point. It'll be interesting to see how it does.
Pre-ordered the 3DS version, can't justify the extra $25 for the Switch version.
I'll pick up up on 3ds. I'm hyped AF for this game!!
I don’t see the price dropping too much for awhile. Nintendo usually keeps their games price tags up until they’re good and ready for a discount. Puyo puyo price point was absurd to me and I think this looks more fun. I’ll pick it up with my amazon preorder discount.
@MH4 I played it at PAX and I would say it NEEDS a demo. That demo at PAX sold me on the game instantly!
@TheSpeedyMouse Very interesting! Is it really that good? What would you compare it to so I can get a feel as to what I should expect?
Thanks for the reply, by the way! I may have to look more into this one. 😊
Going for a pre-order solely due to it being developed by indieszero. Electroplankton, Retro Game Challenge 1 & 2, the NES Remix Games, and the entire Theatrhythm series are all some of my own respective system favorites, and anything I can do to throw more money at them is fine by me.
Curious to see how much content there will end up being, really hard to tell, but...giving it some blind faith. Also more than slightly desperate for a Theatrhythm All-Star Carnival Switch version, and, again: throws money. Fingers-crossed for you, Sushi Striker!
@TheSpeedyMouse
Since you had played the Demo, can you tell me how exactly to play that game ?
It looks cute, but not $50 cute.
I'll wait until it hits the bargain bin.
@MH4 I'm not sure what to compare it to as I don't play too many puzzle games, but I will say it is highly addictive. Your goal is to chain as many adjacent Sushi of the same color as possible to then send at your opponent, but the longer the current chain is, the faster the conveyor belts shuffle the sushi around. The game features a full story mode with anime-styled cut-scenes, an RPG-styled leveling and party system, as well as online! I still think it should have been in the $40-$30 range, but depending on when it releases I will pick it up!
Edit: It comes out June 8th!
@TheSpeedyMouse Thanks a literal ton for that!
@Anti-Matter They replied to me, if you wanna check that comment out. 😃 It explains a good deal!
