Supportive of the concept — same with Project XCloud — but I’m not convinced it’s 100% for me. I want to know the minimum upload and download speed I’d need to have virtually lag free gaming.
Trying out DMC 5 and still playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I bought Flipping Death cuz it was on sale, but I won’t play it for awhile because next week is Sekiro.
Labo VR sounds exciting, but the kind of thing you hope your best friend buys and invites you to play with him. That way you didn’t end up spending $80+tax on something that you got 1 hr of fun out of.
I’m always glad to see a collector’s edition for cult classic titles like this. I won’t be picking it up, but I like that there is a strong enough fan base to pay the big prices for this stuff. And I will be sure to buy their next game on Day One to make sure they get plenty of money for it.
The dlc is free, right? When I see these kinds of prices for physical over digital, I’m so glad that I went digital. The writing is very funny and the music is great. The second half of the game felt long and a bit boring at times, but I will remember this game fondly overall.
Fortnite does a lot to adjust their game to the flow of what people want. I’m pretty impressed that they are so adaptive for the community. Many in this discussion seem to think it’s a bad thing or that Fortnite does this and just calls it a copycat. Would you rather that Fortnite didn’t change at all?
I’m close on Link’s Awakening on my 3DS. If I finish it and don’t play Assassin’s Creed, then I’ll play some Prof Layton Azran Legacy which I just picked up
The overworld looks fine, but everything else is gross. There’s a lack of cohesion of battle, overworld and cutscenes animations. $10 is a good price, but indicative that it might be a bad quality product.
@Kochambra valid criticisms to my point. It’s not entirely the same situation, but it’s always disappointing when a developer is asking you to buy this product in hopes that you will get a chance to buy the other product.
Suda51 said the same thing about No More Heroes 3 being contingent on sales of Travis Strikes Back. Honestly, this game looks waaay too pretty to be on Switch and I imagine that if it gets on there, it’ll be severely pared down. I wouldn’t get my hopes up on it.
My biggest concern with Labo VR is that Labo is supposed to encourage its audience to create their own games and toys using the equipment. How are people supposed to create games or toys with the Labo VR software?
VR software on phones tends to use up the battery fairly quickly, so I can’t imagine people playing Metroid Prime 4 in VR or anything. Nintendo would need to provide some fix for this — a longer cord to the wall perhaps? Idk. I don’t buy that we’re going to get anything substantive with these kits. Just a demo disc quality experience...
@TheOpponent most VR enthusiasts acknowledge that not everyone can jump into a fast paced VR experience right off the bat. I myself had to take my time with PSVR playing walking games before I was ready for running or flying games. I don’t think there’s enough data to say that some people will never be able to play VR, it just needs to be optimized a bit more and people need to take it slowly rather than jumping into something with fast gameplay. Also, just because some people can’t use a certain technology right now doesn’t mean we should just halt it for everyone else.
This looks like the best Labo so far, and honestly, the pricing seems to hit a sweet spot for people looking to play just a couple games at $40 + expansions. That being said, PSVR is pretty satisfying for me right now. I can’t imagine getting this Labo VR system, knowing it can’t likely run very high quality of games on it, nor can I imagine it getting much or frequent support after these sets. It won’t be running Resident Evil 7 VR or Astrobot type games. Because of this, I’ll likely avoid this unless the reviews are 9 or 10/10.
It would only be realistic for Nintendo to introduce a digital only console if it had 500gb of storage plus card slot space. My 200gb card and the 32gb internal is already pretty limiting on the device.
So many games that I’ve loved on this list. I think this list might have benefitted more from listing franchises like Guacamelee and Shantae in their entirety instead of listing their latest games.
I played Mummy before it was adjusted with some updates. It was frustrating to get a game breaking bug 3/4 through it, and then a glitch in my second playthrough with the final boss that took out the challenge. 5/10 for me, but I’m sure it’s better now.
The only truly frustrating thing is that there are no Metroid nor Castlevania titles except for Metroid on NES for Switch.
@JaxonH I get the appeal of collecting physical, but I don’t care about it too much. I mostly pursue the cheapest deal since I consider all games an experience— like a ticket to a sporting event or theater— instead of a good that I’m receiving. When done like that, I’m fine with digital.
@JaxonH I wonder if the US market sees a lot more game trades than the UK or JP. I’m curious if that’s the real reason why developers are releasing games with digital download codes— forcing more US customers to purchase games on their own over trading. Otherwise, your logic makes perfect sense— the market is bigger here in the US, so bring those physical editions here.
Not all of Nintendo’s games are $60. Recall that Captain Toad on Switch, WiiU and 3DS was $40. Additionally, Sushi Striker is $50 for the switch edition. I hope that Nintendo doesn’t charge $60 for Link’s Awakening unless they are willing to jam pack it with additional content (perhaps include Link’s Awakening DX from the Gameboy, changes to increase the amount of dungeons, etc).
As for Capcom, $30 a game isn’t too bad for solidly good titles even if they are a bit old. I was personally hoping for $20 a game like RE Revelations and Revelations 2, but no such luck I guess. I’ll be waiting for a sale on these titles.
$30 a pop? I figured that after the $20 price tag for Okami, RE revelations 1&2, it would be the same for each of these. Guess I need to wait for some sales on these.
@JackEatsSparrows I always put those NES SP titles on the bottom row since I’ll never play them.
Do we know the price of this game yet? If it’s full price then no, I’ll play it on my Xbox for free. If it’s cheap, then i’d Love to have it on my Switch
played RE:DS and RE4 a long time ago, but I wouldn’t mind replaying both on switch. Never played Zero, so that’s likely to be my first purchase between them all.
I appreciate this game, but there are much much better Metroidvanias than this. Several are already on Switch. Microsoft might as well monetize it for Switch since it’s not a really a console seller game.
Playing PS4 and XB1 this weekend instead of my switch. I’ve had game pass for 2 weeks and I’m trying to get as much use out of it to try out games I missed. Gonna play Observer and Arkham Asylum
Seems like a smart play— convince people with Switch to play Xbox games and then eventually buy an Xbox. I rarely play Switch at home on the tv, so this appeals to me as someone who’d want a handheld and home console. Game Pass is great on Xbox btw— I have had it for over a week and I’ve played a ton of games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Late shift, Thomas Was Alone, Crackdown 3, etc
I gave it like a half dozen attempts and I am not liking this at all. I don’t care for the lack of tutorials or even the fact that it feels like there is no strategy. I get that some like it, but I can’t for the life of me imagine this getting anything more than 7/10 for the lack of content and extremely limited gameplay. I’m glad something like this exists for people, but it’s just not for me
I am digging the art direction of the game! I hope this isn’t more than $40, cuz this doesn’t seem full price worthy unless they’re adding in a bunch of content. I can see them adding in the original game as well and that would be cool.
Was anything shown in the Mario Maker 2 direct that isn’t included in the WiiU Mario Maker? I never played the game on WiiU or 3DS, so I’m curious what is different and makes it more “sequel-ish” rather than a deluxe offering.
