Re: Hollow Knight Collector's Edition Now Available To Pre-Order

I’m always glad to see a collector’s edition for cult classic titles like this. I won’t be picking it up, but I like that there is a strong enough fan base to pay the big prices for this stuff. And I will be sure to buy their next game on Day One to make sure they get plenty of money for it.

Re: Talking Point: Labo VR Is The Best Worst Idea Nintendo Has Had In Years

Whalehome

My biggest concern with Labo VR is that Labo is supposed to encourage its audience to create their own games and toys using the equipment. How are people supposed to create games or toys with the Labo VR software?

VR software on phones tends to use up the battery fairly quickly, so I can’t imagine people playing Metroid Prime 4 in VR or anything. Nintendo would need to provide some fix for this — a longer cord to the wall perhaps? Idk. I don’t buy that we’re going to get anything substantive with these kits. Just a demo disc quality experience...

@TheOpponent most VR enthusiasts acknowledge that not everyone can jump into a fast paced VR experience right off the bat. I myself had to take my time with PSVR playing walking games before I was ready for running or flying games. I don’t think there’s enough data to say that some people will never be able to play VR, it just needs to be optimized a bit more and people need to take it slowly rather than jumping into something with fast gameplay.
Also, just because some people can’t use a certain technology right now doesn’t mean we should just halt it for everyone else.

Re: New Nintendo Labo Kit Introduces VR Gaming On Switch This April

This looks like the best Labo so far, and honestly, the pricing seems to hit a sweet spot for people looking to play just a couple games at $40 + expansions. That being said, PSVR is pretty satisfying for me right now. I can’t imagine getting this Labo VR system, knowing it can’t likely run very high quality of games on it, nor can I imagine it getting much or frequent support after these sets. It won’t be running Resident Evil 7 VR or Astrobot type games. Because of this, I’ll likely avoid this unless the reviews are 9 or 10/10.

Re: Feature: The Best Metroidvania Games On Nintendo Switch

So many games that I’ve loved on this list. I think this list might have benefitted more from listing franchises like Guacamelee and Shantae in their entirety instead of listing their latest games.

I played Mummy before it was adjusted with some updates. It was frustrating to get a game breaking bug 3/4 through it, and then a glitch in my second playthrough with the final boss that took out the challenge. 5/10 for me, but I’m sure it’s better now.

The only truly frustrating thing is that there are no Metroid nor Castlevania titles except for Metroid on NES for Switch.

Re: For The King Physical Switch Release Arrives In The Month Of May

@JaxonH I wonder if the US market sees a lot more game trades than the UK or JP. I’m curious if that’s the real reason why developers are releasing games with digital download codes— forcing more US customers to purchase games on their own over trading. Otherwise, your logic makes perfect sense— the market is bigger here in the US, so bring those physical editions here.

Re: Talking Point: Capcom’s Resident Evil Switch Pricing Is Nothing New

Not all of Nintendo’s games are $60. Recall that Captain Toad on Switch, WiiU and 3DS was $40. Additionally, Sushi Striker is $50 for the switch edition. I hope that Nintendo doesn’t charge $60 for Link’s Awakening unless they are willing to jam pack it with additional content (perhaps include Link’s Awakening DX from the Gameboy, changes to increase the amount of dungeons, etc).

As for Capcom, $30 a game isn’t too bad for solidly good titles even if they are a bit old. I was personally hoping for $20 a game like RE Revelations and Revelations 2, but no such luck I guess. I’ll be waiting for a sale on these titles.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Plans To Bring Xbox App And Game Pass To Nintendo Switch

Whalehome

Seems like a smart play— convince people with Switch to play Xbox games and then eventually buy an Xbox. I rarely play Switch at home on the tv, so this appeals to me as someone who’d want a handheld and home console. Game Pass is great on Xbox btw— I have had it for over a week and I’ve played a ton of games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Late shift, Thomas Was Alone, Crackdown 3, etc

I gave it like a half dozen attempts and I am not liking this at all. I don’t care for the lack of tutorials or even the fact that it feels like there is no strategy. I get that some like it, but I can’t for the life of me imagine this getting anything more than 7/10 for the lack of content and extremely limited gameplay. I’m glad something like this exists for people, but it’s just not for me
