Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 16th)

Not sure if I can use the TV this weekend. My oldest daughter just got back from a trip to Greece and she's totally enamored with it's history and old architecture. Except for the occasional co-op beat-em-up, she's not into gaming but now she wants to do the guided tour of AC: Odyssey.

I'll be playing CrossCode and a couple of classics like Thunder Force IV and Virtua Racing

I've been pining for a new installment for years now. I absolutely LOVE the N64 version!! Blue Storm was good too, but it didn't have the same impact on me as the first one. Nostalgia probably. The N64 version will probably be released through the NSO expansion pack soon. But watch Nintendo butcher it up, one way or another...

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2022

Metroid Prime Trilogy YES! Not the rumored remaster of only MP1. Or a remaster of the entire trilogy in that case. Unlikely to happen seeing how the Mario 3D All-stars collection had only minimal improvements.

Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. It's time....

Nintendo REPAIRING N64 emulation and the affected ROMS. Probably not gonna happen, because they already have a large number of expansion pack subs for the first year. So they don't care.

More NES and SNES games on NSO. Probably not gonna happen. Seeing how tone deaf Nintendo is, they will continue pushing the expansion pack and alienating an ever large group of classic game fans.

Yes, I'm pretty cynical. It's because I think Nintendo can do a lot better and they're lacking.

Sea of Stars looks amazing! But I don't like turn based combat... I'm looking forward to it's soundtrack. Gerda: A Flame in Winter looks interesting for it's story. It reminds me of the books and movies I've read and seen of the German occupation of the Netherlands. River City Girls 2 looks to be even more fun then the first game. Which...I still have to play.

I'm glad that I went into this Direct without any hopes or expectations. It saved me from disappointment and made me appreciate the games that were shown more.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2021 Is 'It Takes Two' By Hazelight Studios

I watched the stream this morning. Skipping through nearly 4 hours of cringe, wokeness, virtue signalling, music performances and very underwhelming "world premier" game announcements.

Josef Fares was the only authentic person there. I wish he was given a little bit more time to share with us his unfiltered ideas and opinions. I haven't played It Takes Two yet, but I'm glad this game has won GOTY

Take THAT Take-Two!!!

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

Vriess

I already paid the NSO subscription. They want me to pay more for games which I already bought through means of the Virtual Console. Several N64 games have emulation issues and they don't seem to be bothered to fix it. Not even to mention the problems of NSO itself like the archaic and laggy netcode and lack of functional voicechat. And yes, the slow drip of new classic game releases is hugely frustrating to me.

Nintendo's online "service" doesn't even merit 20 Euros a year, let alone stand 40 Euros. Where's the value?

If the rumors that Sony is going to merge PS Plus and PS Now are true and let's say it would cost 80 Euros a year, then that would be totally worth it. And it would mean even more egg on Nintendo's face. When will they learn!?!?

Re: Nintendo Is Offering Free Trials For Switch Online, Even If You've Used One Before (US)

Vriess

Don't need a trial to know that NSO is rubbish. I have the basic subscription and I'm not gonna renew. I don't play online anymore. Nintendo's netcode and voice chat implementation is laggy, antiquated and awful. Most classic games I've replayed on the Wii and Wii U. The N64 games that I like have emulator issues. And let's not talk about the lack of QoL features for the Switch. NSO is a hot mess....It's been a couple of years that a Retropie system looks like the best option. Gonna do it this year. In Joe Vargas' words; "Nintendo, you done F-ed it up!!!". I hope Nintendo learns eventually, but I'm doubtful.

Re: Nintendo Talks About Its Future - Reconfirms Next Gaming System Is Coming In "20XX"

I'm really looking forward to a proper Switch replacement. Powerful enough to do 4K upscaling. Also 4K backwards compatible with Nintendo's first party Switch titles. Low latency Bluetooth audio support is a must. And Nintendo had better give their future system vastly improved online support and features. Nintendo's NSO netcode needs to be ported over to 2023 for that one...

Re: Soapbox: Wave Race 64 Is Now 25 Years Old, And It Still Rules

Vriess

Wave Race will be the only reason for me to take the more expensive NSO subscription, with N64 included. Once it arrives.

I LOVE WAVE RACE!

Blue Storm is fun too but less so then 64, imo. But MAN...I want a new installment in the series so badly! Doesn't look like it's gonna happen though.
