Not sure if I can use the TV this weekend. My oldest daughter just got back from a trip to Greece and she's totally enamored with it's history and old architecture. Except for the occasional co-op beat-em-up, she's not into gaming but now she wants to do the guided tour of AC: Odyssey.
I'll be playing CrossCode and a couple of classics like Thunder Force IV and Virtua Racing
If a beefier Switch will be launched alongside BotW2, then I will pre-order the second I can. If BotW2 launches with the new Switch still a little ways out, then I'll hold off from playing on the current Switch. I want this game to look pretty on my 65" OLED. The current Switch really is outdated.
A "welcome boost" indeed. Very welcome! The sound in a game like BotW is very subtle most of the time. I've tried it out. My Samsung Buds+ sound way louder/better now. Loving it!
It was after about 200 hours, doing all the shrines and the side quests, farming and killing hordes of enemies, a thought crept to mind; "Zelda might be getting annoyed with me wandering around Hyrule". Then I decided that it was time to whoop Ganon's behind.
Nostalgia, I get it. For me too. But I'm not going to spend even half the price on controllers that make my adult hands cramp up before I get to the warp pipes in SMB.
I've been pining for a new installment for years now. I absolutely LOVE the N64 version!! Blue Storm was good too, but it didn't have the same impact on me as the first one. Nostalgia probably. The N64 version will probably be released through the NSO expansion pack soon. But watch Nintendo butcher it up, one way or another...
Metroid Prime Trilogy YES! Not the rumored remaster of only MP1. Or a remaster of the entire trilogy in that case. Unlikely to happen seeing how the Mario 3D All-stars collection had only minimal improvements.
Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. It's time....
Nintendo REPAIRING N64 emulation and the affected ROMS. Probably not gonna happen, because they already have a large number of expansion pack subs for the first year. So they don't care.
More NES and SNES games on NSO. Probably not gonna happen. Seeing how tone deaf Nintendo is, they will continue pushing the expansion pack and alienating an ever large group of classic game fans.
Yes, I'm pretty cynical. It's because I think Nintendo can do a lot better and they're lacking.
Sea of Stars looks amazing! But I don't like turn based combat... I'm looking forward to it's soundtrack. Gerda: A Flame in Winter looks interesting for it's story. It reminds me of the books and movies I've read and seen of the German occupation of the Netherlands. River City Girls 2 looks to be even more fun then the first game. Which...I still have to play.
I'm glad that I went into this Direct without any hopes or expectations. It saved me from disappointment and made me appreciate the games that were shown more.
I watched the stream this morning. Skipping through nearly 4 hours of cringe, wokeness, virtue signalling, music performances and very underwhelming "world premier" game announcements.
Josef Fares was the only authentic person there. I wish he was given a little bit more time to share with us his unfiltered ideas and opinions. I haven't played It Takes Two yet, but I'm glad this game has won GOTY
I already paid the NSO subscription. They want me to pay more for games which I already bought through means of the Virtual Console. Several N64 games have emulation issues and they don't seem to be bothered to fix it. Not even to mention the problems of NSO itself like the archaic and laggy netcode and lack of functional voicechat. And yes, the slow drip of new classic game releases is hugely frustrating to me.
Nintendo's online "service" doesn't even merit 20 Euros a year, let alone stand 40 Euros. Where's the value?
If the rumors that Sony is going to merge PS Plus and PS Now are true and let's say it would cost 80 Euros a year, then that would be totally worth it. And it would mean even more egg on Nintendo's face. When will they learn!?!?
Don't need a trial to know that NSO is rubbish. I have the basic subscription and I'm not gonna renew. I don't play online anymore. Nintendo's netcode and voice chat implementation is laggy, antiquated and awful. Most classic games I've replayed on the Wii and Wii U. The N64 games that I like have emulator issues. And let's not talk about the lack of QoL features for the Switch. NSO is a hot mess....It's been a couple of years that a Retropie system looks like the best option. Gonna do it this year. In Joe Vargas' words; "Nintendo, you done F-ed it up!!!". I hope Nintendo learns eventually, but I'm doubtful.
I'm really looking forward to a proper Switch replacement. Powerful enough to do 4K upscaling. Also 4K backwards compatible with Nintendo's first party Switch titles. Low latency Bluetooth audio support is a must. And Nintendo had better give their future system vastly improved online support and features. Nintendo's NSO netcode needs to be ported over to 2023 for that one...
I love Streets of Rage 4! But the first River City Girls has a hard time convincing me to pay €30. The gameplay does look like fun. In case of a 50% sale, I'll bite.
Yes, I know, Nintendo said no more Zelda 35th anniversary stuff this year. But I'm still hoping for WW and TP HD. A holiday release would be perfect imo.
I would love for the Switch menu too look that way, but with the current Switch hardware, I think that navigation speed would suffer. Maybe in the next version of the Switch? For now, I'd settle for folders.
@thinkhector
I use the Samsung Buds + The volume is ok, but I want them to sound louder, like on my phone. The connection also stutters sometimes and there is noticeable latency. I guess we can expects small firmware updates soon.
I absolutely LOVE THIS!!! Thank you Nintendo. FINALLY!!! But the volume is way too low. Even with the maximum setting disabled. No need for Nintendo to be concerned with the well being of my hearing. Crank up the volume!
@Hav
I've got a bit more free time on my hands lately, but yeah, I know the situation of working a lot and squeezing in some time to game. I usually revert to platform games where I try to finish two or three short stages a day.
GB games will be a nice addition to NSO. I'm looking forward to the Mario Land games especially. But somehow I feel that Nintendo would be cheapening the deal by omitting GBA games. That may sound entitled, but it just seems logical to me to reintroduce all Gameboy versions at the same time.
I'd love for The Simpsons arcade beat-’em-up to be re-released. They wouldn't have to do anything to the game except for changing the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9
@ITATTRACTS
Yes... I know... If the DLC is unavailable, then why make press statements about it's release and advertise it in-game? There's a issue and I'm curious to know what it is.
I still can't buy/download this DLC. When I use the eShop link/referral from the main menu of the game, it connects to the eShop but then gives me error code: 2811-6002. "There are no products being distributed at this time." Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue. And it's been over a week.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 9th)
Finishing Innocence - A Plague Tale. Also playing a bunch of demos of games that I'm very unlikely to buy. But I'm hoping to be surprised.
Re: Who Needs Switch Pro? New Dongle Promises To "Instantly Upgrade Switch To 4K"
Yeah, but no..... I'd rather have a new iteration of the Switch that supports 4K upscaling with 60fps support.

Almost a disrespect flex to Zelda's 35th....
Re: Konami Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection For Switch
I'm not a huge Turtles fan but TMNT II on the NES brings back a lot of good memories! I played that game with my best friend for months on end.

Finished playing it. It's ok, but not for me. I really like Nintendo providing demo's though.

Only play in docked mode. Problem fixed.

The first game is on sale right now. Here in Europe at least. Personally I'm waiting for the price to go down and then get it on sale.

This one has been slapped hard with Switch tax! On PSN €20 is the normal price and it's on sale for €8 right now.
Re: Poll: Do You Use The Black Or White Theme On Your Nintendo Switch?
White is a bit too bright if you're sitting 5 feet from your 65" TV.
I don't really care for other themes. But folders? YES PLEASE.
Re: Soapbox: Wave Race 64 Is Now 25 Years Old, And It Still Rules
Wave Race will be the only reason for me to take the more expensive NSO subscription, with N64 included. Once it arrives.
I LOVE WAVE RACE!
Blue Storm is fun too but less so then 64, imo. But MAN...I want a new installment in the series so badly! Doesn't look like it's gonna happen though.
