Re: Switch 2 'Welcome Tour' Estimated File Size Revealed By Nintendo

VoidofLight

It's insane that this is a paid "game." It's an over-glorified system manual that won't be played by people after their first run. This is basically Nintendo charging for a tech-demo.

What's funny is that Astro's Playroom was a pack-in tech-demo for the PS5, and that demo felt like it could've been a game easily worth 10 dollars. Insane that Nintendo thinks they can really charge that much for this sort of software when it barely constitutes as a "game."

Re: Mario Kart World "Paid DLC" Would Be A Big No-No, According To Ex-Nintendo Duo

VoidofLight

Given that these two no longer work at the company and the company has changed tactics ever since these two left, I highly doubt they're accurate in anything they're saying. Sure- the Nintendo of old wouldn't charge 80 dollars for a game and then extra for DLC- but the Nintendo of current probably would. Game upgrades being a thing that Nintendo charged for was thought to be impossible last gen. Online being something we had to pay for was thought impossible before the switch came out.

Re: Nintendo: Switch 2's Launch Titles Are "Sort Of" Genre- And Franchise-Defining

VoidofLight

I'm not sold on Mario Kart World being "Genre Defining" or even "series redefining." It just looks like normal Mario Kart but with an Open World tacked onto it. I don't think it'll be a bad game by any means, but I'm not expecting it to be worth the 80 dollars they're asking for. They would seriously need to wow me with the direct for me to see what Nintendo is seeing in it.

As for DK, I genuinely do think that it's something which can only really be done on Switch 2- or at least next gen hardware. Sure, the graphics aren't insane or anything, but for it to run as well as it does and look as good as it looks with the amount of destructive objects is insane to me. It's been impressing me way more than Mario Kart World, and is probably my main reason in wanting to buy a Switch 2. Now if only Nintendo would open pre-orders and not increase the price of the console due to a certain individual who looks like he slathers himself in bags of cheeto dust.

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

VoidofLight

@BaldB3lper78 Those are just predictions. Predictions can and have been wrong in the past. Given how USD is weakening and families/individuals are struggling to pay bills or even survive- I genuinely can't see it selling well. Even if the prices are catching up to inflation. Wages haven't caught up.

@Jam777 The Wii and Switch were also reasonably priced. I know a ton of casual gamers who were excited for the switch 2 that aren't getting the system now due to the price of the games. I imagine the massive casual following with families aren't going to buy in.

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

@Old-Red It isn't all physical copies. The first party games are still on the cartridge. The key cartridges are basically no different from the download cartridges that existed on Switch 1, and are utilized by third parties. One of the few games utilizing it so far is Bravely Default (which is stupid given that the game is a literal port of a 3DS title, so it should still be on the cartridge).

Re: Uh Oh, Switch 2's Home Screen Looks Just As Bland As We Feared

VoidofLight

I hate that there's a lack of the Mii Maker on the home menu. Especially when Tomodachi Life is getting a sequel. You'd think they would want to return to how Miis used to be, but I guess not.

I also hate that it's implied that the Eshop will probably be browser based again. More slow loading times and a lack of music.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition?

VoidofLight

@Ham-n-jam I've heard that the 13th chapter has a heavier story focus than the rest of the game, so I hope it'll end up being better in that regard. However- I also really like that the main story intentionally isn't the focus of the game itself. Rather the planet and people you meet are the focus of the game's "narrative." The Affinity Quests and Side Quests basically act as if they're episodes of a TV show that help build the larger picture of the world you're supposed to survive, and the people you meet along the way.

Re: Rumour: Zelda Live-Action Movie Will Reportedly Be Part Of A "Trilogy"

VoidofLight

@PikaPhantom Honestly, if they end up doing that- I might actually watch the film. Getting actors who aren't as well known, and who actually look the part age-wise would be great for what Nintendo is going for with this film.

I also wonder what angle they're going to try with it. If they're aiming for something more dark like Twilight Princess- or if it'll be a brighter film. My thinking if it's live action, it'll probably have to be a bit more gritty? Although maybe not.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Will Add Lots Of New Mega Evolutions, It's Claimed

VoidofLight

@PikaPhantom Ahh. I don't see the image that Centro sent. I only see gifs of Pokemon and him making bold claims about them getting Mega Evolutions.

I was hoping this info wasn't true as well, since if it is- that means there's going to be so many more temporary forms that won't make it into the next generation, or even be able to be carried into HOME. Mega Evolution is such a lame gimmick in comparison to Regional variants and actual cross-gen evolutions. Sorta kills my hype a bit knowing that we're probably only going to be getting new Megas.

Re: Final Minecraft Movie Trailer Still Hasn't Convinced Us On The Big-Screen Adaptation

VoidofLight

@HotGoomba Yeah, I got a lot of a campy feeling too. Like it feels like the film is intentionally knowing what it is and how it can genuinely be stupid. Some of the jokes were actually pretty fun too. The villager getting hit by a car, the child piglin being killed for drawing. Jack Black saying "I yearned for the mines," along with "I AM STEVE." I genuinely feel like this'll be a fun-bad movie.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?

VoidofLight

Generation 5 is next to get a remake according to the pattern we've been getting remakes in.

Gen 1 remakes in Gen 3

Gen 2 remakes in Gen 4

Gen 3 Remakes in Gen 6

Gen 4 Remakes in Gen 8

so this would mean

Gen 5 remakes in Gen 10.

I also didn't vote on the second poll, since there wasn't an option that fits what I feel like would happen. I do think there will be another game announced in the Presents, but it won't be a spin-off or a remake. It will most likely be Generation 10 of Pokemon. People will say I'm crazy for thinking this way, given that Z-A is slated to release this year- but given how the TCG works and how we know every set up until June (excluding Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia), then that positions Z-A's launch around the summer.

If Z-A is launching around the summer, then that means that November is wide open for some reason. Either because Gamefreak has something releasing in November, or Nintendo has the Switch 2 releasing in November.

I'm more inclined to think that Gamefreak is most likely going to be releasing Gen 10 in November, given that apparently the TCG cards are apparently only tournament legal for three years after their initial launch. This would slate Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's early sets as no longer being viable if they wait until 2026 to release Generation 10 of Pokemon. This means either Z-A's set is going to count as a pseudo-generation, and there'll be more after Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia- or that Gen 10 is releasing in November, just in time for them to launch the next TCG. It would make sense as well, given that the pattern for a new generation of Pokemon has always been around every three years since the release of the current generation.

Re: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Physical Release Confirmed (Japan)

VoidofLight

@tseliot Probably so. Even then though, I would rather play fewer games and support studios that actually hire human beings that produce art than support studios that employ soulless machines in order to produce "art."

Ai has no place in art. It is the cheapening of it, and therefore I don't want to support games that utilize it, nor studios that take part in that. If I buy Fantasy Life i- it will be the last game I buy from Level 5 (given that it seems clean from the taint that is Ai).

I want the artistic sphere to actually be for functioning human artists. For myself to have a job in the future, and for my peers to be able to find work that isn't just cleaning up or aiding a soulless machine in the production of slop.
