@larryisaman Well seeing as the series director works at Acquire, the series would probably actually die. They’re the only reason Nintendo went with Acquire I’m pretty sure.
@Zeebor15 It's funny too. This year has seen the most JRPG releases in recent memory, and the GOTY contenders are going to basically be majority JRPGs. The only one of those contenders that'll probably win is Elden Ring's DLC, given that Geoff actually recognizes Fromsoft.
This feels completely unfair. If Elden Ring's DLC can win "Game of the Year," then it takes away from other games that came out this year that actually deserve the title.
I don't tend to take this seriously because like others have said- it's just a commercial. The awards lost any merits that they had so long ago. The audience doesn't even pick the winner so it's worthless anyways. The game of the year is the game that you loved that year, and that's that.
@thor8467 They’re probably a worlds that Klaus mentioned existed at the end of 2, but I don’t think X has any direct connection. Neither does Saga and Gears. Gears legally can’t, and neither can Saga (with the only inclusions being bandai allowing them to add saga stuff).
If X were going to connect to mainline, they would have already done so with Xenoblade 2. They would’ve made 2’s backstory the war at the start of X instead of an entirely different war.
@Mana_Knight In Microsoft’s eyes exclusivity and console generations are dead. They genuinely don’t understand that exclusivity is actually needed to keep their system afloat, and hence they continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
@Roibeard64 They tried doing that with Switch 1 and Nintendo rejected it. Don’t blame Nintendo at all for doing that either. It’s the equivalent of a parasite trying to lay its eggs in someone.
X isn’t connected to mainline, and never will be. The backstories between 1 and X are vastly different with no compatibility between them at all. The radio is a point I’m tired of people bringing up- given that it’s just an easteregg that fits thematically with what’s currently ongoing in that scene. Showcasing different elements of humanity abandoning their world- or conflicts that caused humanity to have to flee. The date for the launch that’s showcased on the radio isn’t even the right date of the ship’s launch in X either.
@Maulbert I don't think people who buy remakes are fools. A good chunk of people never played the original games, so Remakes are the best bet for them. Especially given that sometimes the older game is actually more expensive than the remade version of said game.
Some people like remakes because it gives an old classic a new coat of paint- and others again, never got to play the game because they were born too late to buy it when it first released.
It's fine if you don't like remakes. However I don't think it's right for people to go around saying that others are fools for purchasing them.
This looks like Genshin wearing a Monster Hunter skin. I also have no confidence in games like these due to being on cellphones for one- and also being produced by Tencent means heavy micro-transactions.
@Farts_Ahoy It’s wrong when you state factually wrong information as if they’re fact? Especially when you’re playing a game and are only in the tutorial for said game. You said it needed 6 more months of polish when you haven’t even gotten the hammer or first Bros. Move. You literally only experienced 1% of the game’s content.
@Farts_Ahoy A lot of what you said is outright wrong, but it figures given you're really early into the game. Two hours isn't enough time to judge the quality- and I know this from experience as I was really critical on the game up until I got to the end of the first sea.
The cutscenes don't use "still frames," so I don't know what you're on about in that regard. At least very few use them, if they even use them.
Enemy attacks aren't all that fast at all. In the first two hours I took 0 damage during battles because of how easy their attacks were to both respond to and dodge.
The first two islands you've played were rough, but they get better. Again you're too early into the game to say "the islands don't have substance." You don't even have the hammer- let alone the first Bros. Move yet.
@Uncle_Franklin Trust me, a demo isn't going to convince you on the game. The first few hours are pretty slow. Takes 2-3 hours to get the hammer, and 2-3 more hours to get the first Bros. Move.
What is there to spoil? The game is 30 years old and Dragon Quest games don’t exactly have massively interesting narratives that are worth spoiling in the first place anyways.
@Coffee-Waffle Yeah, the clutter is what makes me not interested in the game. That- and the farming mechanics looked a bit shallow.
@roy130390 Ehhh I love Monster Rancher's designs, but these don't really stand out to me all that much. My main issue is moreso the gameplay though, and less the monster designs. It just feels like it's pretty unpolished from the trailers I've seen- and the gameplay just looks like Story of Seasons but more limited and with a weird battle mechanic focused on packs of monsters.
This sounds like it'll be just as good as Dream Team- which is pretty much my favorite Mario and Luigi game by far (even with the handholding). I'm hopeful that this will be just as good.
Kinda wish people bringing up IGN’s review would read other reviews by other outlets. IGN is the only one I’ve seen that seems to have a negative spin on things.
From what it looks like, the IGN reviewer id the head of the Nintendo Time podcast that they have, and takes a tone of a disappointed fan more than anything. Apparently their criticism is that you can’t control Luigi in the overworld (which is an outright lie), and that the writing isn’t as good as previous entries in terms of jokes.
@gcunit The impression I got was that the game isn’t releasing to where you buy the chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 were released as a free demo. 1-4 will be in the paid release, and 5-7 will be added for free later down the line as updates for the full version of the game.
I wish they'd give credit to who helped to make this music. It's probably something pertaining to Japanese culture, like others have said- but I still think it would be cool to give credit to those who composed the songs.
As for the censorship itself, the only thing I remember being censored in the original was the breast slider, and the fact that the game no longer sexualizes the 13 year old mechanic character. The core of the game was pretty much left in-tact. Don't get why people complain.
@AfroMario It isn't a good starting point for the series. X is an entirely different animal from mainline. Entirely different priorities. X focuses more on sidequests and the gameplay while mainline focuses more on the actual stories of the game.
@Kazman2007 This is a wildly different game from the other Xenoblade games. Focuses more on an open world and side quests than it does the main story. The main story cuts off halfway through the narrative.
Hopefully the resources for this didn’t take away from mainline. Genuinely couldn’t get into this game- and I don’t intend on purchasing it again either.
@shiftbarackyeaugh 3 and 4 are being polished at the current. They’re probably releasing those two next year. It’ll be a paid release of the game containing chapters 1-4, and chapters 5-7 will be added down the line as updates I believe.
I haven't had overheating, but I noticed the battery has been draining a bit faster on the home screen (draining every minute or so, instead of keeping its charge for a while like it had been).
@Li_Bae Because the redditors responsible for what's going on and posting about it are from America? I've seen these posts by the people committing the acts.
Edit: Plus Asian tourists tend to be more respectful whilst American tourists are usually singled out as the group that isn't.
@N00BiSH That's fair. I've known people who never washed their hands at all, even before Covid happened. Don't get why it's just so hard for some to even do that.
This is only furthering the Japanese public's negative view on us Westerners when people do stuff like this. It sets a stereotype that we can't even follow the most basic rules, and showcases that a good chunk of people genuinely have no manners or understanding that other people outside of themselves exist.
This story about the photographs is annoying, but the story about the people ripping out power chords to prove that Nintendo is using "emulators" just baffles me. Would these people genuinely act like this in museums at their home country, or is this special because "It's Nintendo!!!"
@Goat_FromBOTW Given that he made that claim years ago, it's most likely that he had a change of heart or decided to step down for health reasons. The man can barely do the Mario voice anymore, to the point where they had to start reusing clips from previous games to help supplement any of the new voice work.
@MondayMedley Ehh it isn't the end of the world. You can still take your mon from Galar and breed it in Paldea for it to register. The issue is primarily just that it takes a bit to actually do it (even with the reduced grind), and on top of that it's pretty much a measure to make sure that people still buy the new games when they come out. Especially given that GO exists, and would pretty much destroy any reason for people to have to buy SV in terms of events like these. That, and the expansions for SV (it's pretty scummy, even if I do like Scarlet and Violet at their core).
What sucks is that in order to complete the pokedex for each game, you genuinely have to catch all the mon in that game's pokedex and transfer them from that game. This means that if you need a gen 1 pokemon, yet already have it in HOME from something like Sun and Moon or Sword and Shield, you'd need to effectively go into Scarlet and Violet and catch it fresh.
@Pat_trick If you read the article they make it clear that you play them in "Chronological" order. So basically timeline order. Dragon Quest 3, then 1, then 2. Basically beat them in the order they're releasing the remakes in.
Unless Nintendo made an official NDA, they’re effectively going to have to deal with this being leaked. People didn’t listen to Toby Fox when he told them to not talk about Deltarune spoilers until a few days after chapter 1 launched. People aren’t going to listen to a mega corporation telling them not to talk about this test.

@NCChris The reason why Nintendo went with Acquire is because the series director and combat director for the original games worked there.

Re: Expansion Packs And DLC Are Now "Eligible In All Categories" At The Game Awards
@Zeebor15 I actually hope Metaphor wins music. A good chunk of the OST for that game is great.
Re: Expansion Packs And DLC Are Now "Eligible In All Categories" At The Game Awards
@Zeebor15 There's no way FF7 Rebirth and Metaphor won't be there. Especially given how Persona 5 was there one year.

Re: Video: New Switch Online Trailer Highlights Classic Pokémon Games
I'd rather have the ability to buy the older games again instead of them being on NSO.
Re: New Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Update Leaves The Switch Behind
@SillyG The Switch isn't able to put out 4K at all. This isn't Konami's fault.

I’m worried about the lack of Yoko Shimomura music. If she hasn’t come back, then that singlehandedly ruins the game for me honestly.
