Re: Expansion Packs And DLC Are Now "Eligible In All Categories" At The Game Awards

VoidofLight

This feels completely unfair. If Elden Ring's DLC can win "Game of the Year," then it takes away from other games that came out this year that actually deserve the title.

I don't tend to take this seriously because like others have said- it's just a commercial. The awards lost any merits that they had so long ago. The audience doesn't even pick the winner so it's worthless anyways. The game of the year is the game that you loved that year, and that's that.

Re: Talking Point: Will Xenoblade Chronicles X Finally Tie Into The Wider Series On Switch?

VoidofLight

@thor8467 They’re probably a worlds that Klaus mentioned existed at the end of 2, but I don’t think X has any direct connection. Neither does Saga and Gears. Gears legally can’t, and neither can Saga (with the only inclusions being bandai allowing them to add saga stuff).

If X were going to connect to mainline, they would have already done so with Xenoblade 2. They would’ve made 2’s backstory the war at the start of X instead of an entirely different war.

Re: Talking Point: Will Xenoblade Chronicles X Finally Tie Into The Wider Series On Switch?

VoidofLight

X isn’t connected to mainline, and never will be. The backstories between 1 and X are vastly different with no compatibility between them at all. The radio is a point I’m tired of people bringing up- given that it’s just an easteregg that fits thematically with what’s currently ongoing in that scene. Showcasing different elements of humanity abandoning their world- or conflicts that caused humanity to have to flee. The date for the launch that’s showcased on the radio isn’t even the right date of the ship’s launch in X either.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

VoidofLight

@Maulbert I don't think people who buy remakes are fools. A good chunk of people never played the original games, so Remakes are the best bet for them. Especially given that sometimes the older game is actually more expensive than the remade version of said game.

Some people like remakes because it gives an old classic a new coat of paint- and others again, never got to play the game because they were born too late to buy it when it first released.

It's fine if you don't like remakes. However I don't think it's right for people to go around saying that others are fools for purchasing them.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?

VoidofLight

@Farts_Ahoy It’s wrong when you state factually wrong information as if they’re fact? Especially when you’re playing a game and are only in the tutorial for said game. You said it needed 6 more months of polish when you haven’t even gotten the hammer or first Bros. Move. You literally only experienced 1% of the game’s content.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?

VoidofLight

@Farts_Ahoy A lot of what you said is outright wrong, but it figures given you're really early into the game. Two hours isn't enough time to judge the quality- and I know this from experience as I was really critical on the game up until I got to the end of the first sea.

The cutscenes don't use "still frames," so I don't know what you're on about in that regard. At least very few use them, if they even use them.

Enemy attacks aren't all that fast at all. In the first two hours I took 0 damage during battles because of how easy their attacks were to both respond to and dodge.

The first two islands you've played were rough, but they get better. Again you're too early into the game to say "the islands don't have substance." You don't even have the hammer- let alone the first Bros. Move yet.

Re: New Action RPG 'Farmagia' Celebrates Switch Launch With Free DLC Skins

VoidofLight

@Coffee-Waffle Yeah, the clutter is what makes me not interested in the game. That- and the farming mechanics looked a bit shallow.

@roy130390 Ehhh I love Monster Rancher's designs, but these don't really stand out to me all that much. My main issue is moreso the gameplay though, and less the monster designs. It just feels like it's pretty unpolished from the trailers I've seen- and the gameplay just looks like Story of Seasons but more limited and with a weird battle mechanic focused on packs of monsters.

Re: Nintendo Museum Overseas Visitors Reportedly Breaking 'No Photos' Rule

VoidofLight

This is only furthering the Japanese public's negative view on us Westerners when people do stuff like this. It sets a stereotype that we can't even follow the most basic rules, and showcases that a good chunk of people genuinely have no manners or understanding that other people outside of themselves exist.

This story about the photographs is annoying, but the story about the people ripping out power chords to prove that Nintendo is using "emulators" just baffles me. Would these people genuinely act like this in museums at their home country, or is this special because "It's Nintendo!!!"

Re: Pokémon Home 'Shiny Meloetta' Distribution Now Available

VoidofLight

@MondayMedley Ehh it isn't the end of the world. You can still take your mon from Galar and breed it in Paldea for it to register. The issue is primarily just that it takes a bit to actually do it (even with the reduced grind), and on top of that it's pretty much a measure to make sure that people still buy the new games when they come out. Especially given that GO exists, and would pretty much destroy any reason for people to have to buy SV in terms of events like these. That, and the expansions for SV (it's pretty scummy, even if I do like Scarlet and Violet at their core).

Re: Pokémon Home 'Shiny Meloetta' Distribution Now Available

VoidofLight

What sucks is that in order to complete the pokedex for each game, you genuinely have to catch all the mon in that game's pokedex and transfer them from that game. This means that if you need a gen 1 pokemon, yet already have it in HOME from something like Sun and Moon or Sword and Shield, you'd need to effectively go into Scarlet and Violet and catch it fresh.
