@RupeeClock I don't think any of the big three are filtering this garbage out honestly. Not only is this an issue on the Nintendo end of things, but there's an Ai Generated rip-off of Monster Hunter called "Monster Hunters" on PS5. It isn't out yet, but even the description for the game is pretty much just a plagiarized version of the one for Monster Hunter Wilds listing- only changed slightly by what you can clearly tell is just CHATGTP.
It never fails to amaze me on how low Ai has brought people. Now it's easier than before to churn out slop rip-off games using Ai generated art and assets. They're not good games on their own, but they don't have to be. All they have to do is confuse people into thinking the game is what they're looking for by having a similar title and similar art.
This game is really successful on Steam from what I can remember, and it worries me given that it's a ton of Ai slop. The art they use is Ai, down to the promo image seen in this post. The idea is cool, but it would be neater if the game was actually paying artists to make the art- and if they made card games based off of more than just Pokemon. Stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic the Gathering. I guess though that it would take creativity for them to do something like that, let alone create their own unique card game. Might as well just ape off of stuff that already exists whilst making it "legally distinct" but using Ai.
Funnily enough in the US, using Ai art means that you can't actually copyright your "work." This means you can technically steal Ai pieces and use them for your own gain if a company attempts to use it in their own games. I don't know why anyone would want to do that, given that it's slop- but it's something you can do if you wish.
Edit: Wait no, this game is actually a rip-off of another game apparently. This game is called "TCG Card Shop Master," while the other game is called "TCG Card Shop Simulator." So it's not even just an uninspired game. It's a rip-off of an uninspired game!
@Zeldinion I genuinely hope that’ll be the case. Holy Horror Mansion and Decapolice disappoint me massively because of their use of generative Ai on those games.
@Not_Soos This is why I can’t see it as a “what if,” given there’d be so many branches off of every game. It’s more than likely Link in Ocarina was originally meant to fall in battle against Ganondorf, but the triforce wish in Link Between Worlds changed the outcome- creating two different futures while the forgotten downfall timeline kept marching on.
@jake1421 The timeline mostly seems to go on as if nothing ever really happened, just like how the Adult timeline still exists without the Hero of Time when he goes back to the past.
@jake1421 The prevalent theory of the downfall timeline’s existence is that it’s a forgotten timeline. The original timeline that naturally happened, where the Hero in Ocarina ended up being slain at Ganondorf’s hands, prompting the sealing war. That Link to the Past Link’s wish on the triforce to undo Ganon’s evil basically had an effect that rewrote history and created the version of Ocarina that we actually played, where Link won in the end.
Ehhh. I rather this be a fun one-off. Unless they can think of another idea that would suit her as a protagonist, I don’t want them forcing her into a role that doesn’t make sense in a gameplay perspective.
I also wasn’t a fan of Echoes of Wisdom- but that’s just modern Zelda as a whole now for me I guess.
@Rothycat It doesn't, given that it isn't replacing artists or people who need jobs. It's collecting data in order to use it to fill out unfilled portions of maps pretty much. No different from any other Ai being used in any other game.
What bothers me is generative Ai, as it goes after artists themselves.
It isn’t going to have a real time clock, so it won’t be the same. The clock is the reason I love Animal Crossing, and it’s one of the few things these animal crossing-like games don’t actually end up doing. They also tend to focus on customization rather than being a life sim like Population Growing, Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf.
@Waluigi451 My question wasn't literally asking "why." My question is more of a moral one. I know they do this to get clicks, but it feels scummy that they're doing this for clicks.
@rvcolem1 @nessisonett I genuinely don't get why they're pushing a story like this. Given that it isn't really impressive- and it's moreso just.. sad. It showcases what effect gacha games tend to have on some people- and how these games tend to take advantage of people who have addictive tendencies.
Don’t get why people are taking this and treating it like it’s generative Ai. If you read the article it’s clear this is only analytic. Sucks they aren’t transparent about this, but as an generative Ai hater, this doesn’t bother me all that much.
@SurprisedRobinChu the terms “pokemon killer” and “Pokemon clone” has done so much damage to the monster collecting genre as a whole. So many monster collecting series died in obscurity because people waved them away as “Pokemon clones.” Yokai Watch died in the West because people kept calling it a “Pokemon Killer.”
@larryisaman Well seeing as the series director works at Acquire, the series would probably actually die. They’re the only reason Nintendo went with Acquire I’m pretty sure.
@Zeebor15 It's funny too. This year has seen the most JRPG releases in recent memory, and the GOTY contenders are going to basically be majority JRPGs. The only one of those contenders that'll probably win is Elden Ring's DLC, given that Geoff actually recognizes Fromsoft.
This feels completely unfair. If Elden Ring's DLC can win "Game of the Year," then it takes away from other games that came out this year that actually deserve the title.
I don't tend to take this seriously because like others have said- it's just a commercial. The awards lost any merits that they had so long ago. The audience doesn't even pick the winner so it's worthless anyways. The game of the year is the game that you loved that year, and that's that.
@thor8467 They’re probably a worlds that Klaus mentioned existed at the end of 2, but I don’t think X has any direct connection. Neither does Saga and Gears. Gears legally can’t, and neither can Saga (with the only inclusions being bandai allowing them to add saga stuff).
If X were going to connect to mainline, they would have already done so with Xenoblade 2. They would’ve made 2’s backstory the war at the start of X instead of an entirely different war.
@Mana_Knight In Microsoft’s eyes exclusivity and console generations are dead. They genuinely don’t understand that exclusivity is actually needed to keep their system afloat, and hence they continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
@Roibeard64 They tried doing that with Switch 1 and Nintendo rejected it. Don’t blame Nintendo at all for doing that either. It’s the equivalent of a parasite trying to lay its eggs in someone.
X isn’t connected to mainline, and never will be. The backstories between 1 and X are vastly different with no compatibility between them at all. The radio is a point I’m tired of people bringing up- given that it’s just an easteregg that fits thematically with what’s currently ongoing in that scene. Showcasing different elements of humanity abandoning their world- or conflicts that caused humanity to have to flee. The date for the launch that’s showcased on the radio isn’t even the right date of the ship’s launch in X either.
@Maulbert I don't think people who buy remakes are fools. A good chunk of people never played the original games, so Remakes are the best bet for them. Especially given that sometimes the older game is actually more expensive than the remade version of said game.
Some people like remakes because it gives an old classic a new coat of paint- and others again, never got to play the game because they were born too late to buy it when it first released.
It's fine if you don't like remakes. However I don't think it's right for people to go around saying that others are fools for purchasing them.
This looks like Genshin wearing a Monster Hunter skin. I also have no confidence in games like these due to being on cellphones for one- and also being produced by Tencent means heavy micro-transactions.
@Farts_Ahoy It’s wrong when you state factually wrong information as if they’re fact? Especially when you’re playing a game and are only in the tutorial for said game. You said it needed 6 more months of polish when you haven’t even gotten the hammer or first Bros. Move. You literally only experienced 1% of the game’s content.
@Farts_Ahoy A lot of what you said is outright wrong, but it figures given you're really early into the game. Two hours isn't enough time to judge the quality- and I know this from experience as I was really critical on the game up until I got to the end of the first sea.
The cutscenes don't use "still frames," so I don't know what you're on about in that regard. At least very few use them, if they even use them.
Enemy attacks aren't all that fast at all. In the first two hours I took 0 damage during battles because of how easy their attacks were to both respond to and dodge.
The first two islands you've played were rough, but they get better. Again you're too early into the game to say "the islands don't have substance." You don't even have the hammer- let alone the first Bros. Move yet.
@Uncle_Franklin Trust me, a demo isn't going to convince you on the game. The first few hours are pretty slow. Takes 2-3 hours to get the hammer, and 2-3 more hours to get the first Bros. Move.
What is there to spoil? The game is 30 years old and Dragon Quest games don’t exactly have massively interesting narratives that are worth spoiling in the first place anyways.
@Coffee-Waffle Yeah, the clutter is what makes me not interested in the game. That- and the farming mechanics looked a bit shallow.
@roy130390 Ehhh I love Monster Rancher's designs, but these don't really stand out to me all that much. My main issue is moreso the gameplay though, and less the monster designs. It just feels like it's pretty unpolished from the trailers I've seen- and the gameplay just looks like Story of Seasons but more limited and with a weird battle mechanic focused on packs of monsters.
This sounds like it'll be just as good as Dream Team- which is pretty much my favorite Mario and Luigi game by far (even with the handholding). I'm hopeful that this will be just as good.
Kinda wish people bringing up IGN’s review would read other reviews by other outlets. IGN is the only one I’ve seen that seems to have a negative spin on things.

Re: Random: Nintendo And Acquire Brainstormed "Over" 100 Subtitles For Mario & Luigi: Brothership
Amazing that this game is about the bonds of brotherhood, but all the games before it do a much better job at portraying that.

Wonder if they generated the translation with Ai, given how Level 5 shills that now.

It makes sense, especially given how the Master Sword is totally absent in both Zelda I and EoW.

Why not just open the packs they give you daily? It’s slower, but eventually you will collect every card if you keep at it.
