Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro

@HotGoomba "Anyone making fun of people that find compromising challenge for the sake of accessibility resulting in a lesser game should not have the right to ridicule, and deserves to be ridiculed."

How about that? That's how you sound like. I don't have a problem with telling someone to get off the high horse, but when you're doing it so that you can climb there yourself, you're not any better.

Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro

Nothing wrong in playing games on Easy Mode, as long as you own it. If you've played through the game on Easy and someone has played through the game on Hard, the experiences have been very different and anyone claiming that playing through a game on Easy would be same as playing through it on a higher difficulty is wrong.

I don't believe many people who criticize this phenomenon have problems with people playing on Easy, but with the attitude many seem to take about it.

Re: Zelda, Mario And Animal Crossing Appear In Latest My Nintendo Rewards (Europe)

Tuulenpoika

Well, you know, these are kind of worthy, I guess... but I believe most of the 3DS owners own these games already, and in physical form, no less.

But hey, adding the home themes in these has been cool. I just wish they would add more variety to them.

And also that 3DS Ambassador program as a prize. I wish there was a way to tell them how cool that would be, the basic customer support isn't really worth trying.

Re: Metacritic Implements 36-Hour Delay On User Reviews, To Ensure "Gamers Have Time To Play"

Tuulenpoika

@JR150 About this whole thing basically being first and foremost a way to cull the launch day hype criticism from sources outside the ones officially accepted and given instructions on how to approach the reviewed game to by the publisher. Just like others here have said, the time limit just delays the inevitable for 36 hours, while giving the publisher a "problem-free" day of launch (depending on if their review guidelines given to sites have been dubious) and potential unaware buyers who base their purchase decisions on Metacritic score alone.

Re: Streets Of Rage 4 Gets Another Physical Release, This Time With A Signature Edition

Tuulenpoika

Just a note from another Nintendo-related news site, apparently this announcement could not be made because of LRG and their deal that apparently made it impossible for these guys to announce this release before LRG could get their pre-orders in.

This is something I'd really hope some game journalists could look into. LRG is having a really unfair position in the limited physical release market if they can pull off stuff like that. I wouldn't be surprised if many people pre-ordered LRG's version of this game thinking it was going to be the only physical release available based on all the coverage before the release date.

Re: The Poor Old Nintendo 3DS Has Sold Just 620,000 Units In The Past Nine Months

As much as I love Switch, 3DS and its library holds a very special place in my game collection and I think Nintendo actually killed it off sooner than they should have (just look at many of the Switch titles that were obviously initially being developed for the 3DS, but were moved over to Switch and arguably suffered because of it). Where it lacked in innovation and variety when compared to the original DS, it sure made up for it with eShop and the sheer amount of quality titles, ports and remakes.

I'm going to miss being able to get Day One purchases for 35-40€ price point and getting all excited over a technically inferior handheld gaming console getting stellar releases mostly free of modern industry practices and being able to deliver just with the quality of the game, not the specs. Can't get that anymore.

I still have a huge backlog of 3DS stuff left to play, and I'm constantly hunting for the last few deals online before all the good stuff is gone, but it still quite stings seeing it finally being over in Nintendo's and general public's eyes. Truly one of the best consoles ever.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition - A Gift That Keeps On Giving

Tuulenpoika

After playing the demo and the full version for a while I can't help but be disappointed we never got the 3DS version. It would have been a completely different-looking and feeling experience when compared to this version, and somehow it just doesn't feel all that special to me after seeing the PS4 version in action. I do appreciate the added content and QOL changes, but I just can't feel the excitement over the game I would have definitely felt had they released the 3DS version over here, too. It truly feels like a missed opportunity seeing how VII and VIII fared so well.

Re: Get Fresh 3DS Discounts With The Latest My Nintendo Rewards (Europe)

Tuulenpoika

Well, at least a slight discount on HarmoKnight and Mario's Picross. Decided to get both of them since I don't really think these deals are going to be available for much longer.

It's really a shame, since at one point they were really firing with the exclusive home themes and good downloadable stuff, but at some point they just completely gave up and nowadays are just recycling older deals. Especially game-specific themes that were only available for digital version pre-orders (Project X Zone 2 and Dragon Quest VII, for example) would definitely be something I'd love to use points towards to get from My Nintendo.

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Voice Actor Gets Credit Removed Following Admissions Of Abuse

Tuulenpoika

This is some pretty heartrending stuff. I was a big fan of his work on Newgrounds back in the day, and TOME. I felt that he really did deserve to get in the big leagues doing actual voice acting work.

But based on what he wrote himself, he has clearly had some real problems with handling his life and relationships. It's always sad to see people you'd want to root for revealing how they truly are outside the work they do. Of course, it has no bearing on the actual work they do, but it gets very difficult to not let it affect your judgement on it at all when stuff like this comes to light.

Re: Get Discounts On Classic Zelda Games, Fire Emblem And More With My Nintendo Rewards (Europe)

Tuulenpoika

Yeah, I'd really like more variety to these deals, especially on some games that aren't available physically and do not show up in sales all that often. There's a whole lot of original Game Buy stuff that is featured way too rarely, might as well put all of them here to be bought with a minuscule discount for silver coins, because those coins have been next to useless for such a long time.

What happened to the special games, like Zelda Picross? DS emulations, like Warioware Touched? All those cool home themes, like Bravely Second and Pokemon Gold / Silver character ones? Where the heck did all of them go? Because I severely miss them, for they were the one legitimately good reason for My Nintendo to ever exist. As it is now, it's next to worthless.

Re: Review: The Alliance Alive (3DS)

Tuulenpoika

@Auzzo I wouldn't hold my breath for a Switch port. But the reason why this one gets the digital only treatment has probably something to do with Atlus finally establishing their own EU branch, and this game just happened to fall between the transition period with its release. The problem is, they don't even see it worthy to release a limited physical run later on after they've set their stuff up, despite many people not being happy about the digital only thing after we got the good thing going with Deep Silver's releases. I would honestly be more than OK with a delayed release should it mean a physical copy I could play, and I'm sure many others would be, too. Especially after the whole SMT IV debacle all those years ago.
