Re: Nintendo Removes Infamous Drugging Scene From Western Localisation Of Fire Emblem Fates

Tuulenpoika

I find it extremely disappointing to see that we're living the year 2016 and video games are still being censored and edited like this due to "cultural differences". All the talk about "video games and their community should grow up" and we're still having content edited and removed in fear of backlash from oversensitive people.

Here's a free tip - if you can't deal with something in a game or find it offensive, walk away from it. Don't go around demanding things in game to be changed, edited or removed for everyone just because you find it offensive or uncomfortable. I want to believe that most gamers can handle the fact that things are different in different countries and cultures. How difficult can it be to just take things as they are, as they were made by the original developers, and understand the fact that they were made in that particular country? That shouldn't even be the most important thing, ultimately it would be to just accept that things are handled differently by different people, and if you don't like it, nothing is preventing you from walking away from it.

But seeing how the damage had been already done with Fates, at least I can save some money for other games. Dividing the game to multiple parts and selling them separately was bad enough, but this is pretty much something that makes me comfortable to not buy this game. I don't want to support any practices that have been part of this game.

Re: Bravely Second: End Layer, Including a Collector's Edition, is Heading to North America on 15th April

Tuulenpoika

@ColdingLight
I wouldn't exactly call it the same price, seeing how there's quite a big difference between $70 and £70 (which equals to about about $100), with many places outside UK charging even more for the package.

And to be honest, I would have gladly given up the figurine if it would have lowered the price here in EU, too, just like with the first game. I'm more interested in the artbook and soundtrack. Of course, I'm hopeful that the figurine won't end up being how it did with the first game, but still. Just my two cents, though. The waiting sucks, we should know since we get almost every Atlus JRPG on 3DS about six months after the US release.

Re: Marvelous Is Bringing Return To PopoloCrois To European 3DS Consoles This Year

Tuulenpoika

I find it very sad that they are releasing all these great life sim games digital only, while all their Senran Kagura releases get full physical and limited edition treatment. I know it's because those games sell way more for various reasons, it just feels unfair. It almost feels like if you want your niche Japanese games to sell, you need to have giant boobs in them in order for them to sell enough to warrant a retail release.

I'm sure it's not the case entirely, but this is one company and their decisions. I just wish Rune Factory 4 would have gotten a proper retail release given its spectacular quality, but given the circumstances, I guess it wasn't possible. Looking forward to getting this game during a sale, just like with Lord of Magna. Had this and that game been released in retail, I would have probably bought them Day One.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th November (Europe)

Where the heck are all the Atlus game themes? NISA has never answered any questions regarding them, while pretty much all the other themes make their way in EU. Would gladly trade a few dozen Hello Kitty ones for even a few Atlus ones if I could.

Re: The 3DS Is Getting A New Puzzle & Dragons Game

Tuulenpoika

I would still want Puzzle & Dragons Z as a separate eShop game, I really don't care for the Mario makeover and wouldn't want to buy the current release when I know I wouldn't be touching the other half of the cartridge's contents. Z, on the other hand, looks awesome and I've wanted to play it ever since it was shown.

Re: Those Who Buy Stella Glow Digitally Will Receive an Exclusive 3DS Theme

Tuulenpoika

What I'm angry about is the fact that NISA hasn't brought a single Atlus game home theme in Europe, and doesn't even care to answer any questions regarding them. I've tried many times to get info about home themes for Persona Q, Etrian Mystery Dungeon and Devil Survivor 2, but there has never been any info or even a reply for the matter from NISA. One of Atlus' PR people said that they have sent the themes for evaluation, but still none of them have become available.

And I think it's going to be the same with Stella Glow, and it makes me mad. I would want to have at least the Devil Survivor 2 theme.

I think I'll be getting Paper Mario, if anything. Also, funny how CIRCLE released demo for Adventure Bar Story this late when the full game came out a while ago. But at least it's good for anyone who's on the fence about buying it, I personally highly recommend the game!

Re: Review: Paper Mario (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

Tuulenpoika

@Kirk Well, to be honest, I have never been as disappointed in a game as much as I was in Sticker Star. Of course the graphics and the atmosphere were there, but the usual humor the series had had diminished, and the basic gameplay was just horrendous. Not particularly the use of stickers, but the execution of the situations where you would need certain stickers.

Going to fight a boss? Oh yeah, go right ahead, but have fun trying to survive through the battle with basic stickers alone! Instead, run away from the boss battle so the game can give you a hint on what stickers to use against the boss? What? Oh, and if you manage to beat any boss on your first try, say hi to Kersti coming out and saying "yeah, you could have beaten that boss with far less effort if you wanted." Well gee wiz, I wonder how was I supposed to know that since you only tell me the way to defeat the boss AFTER I run away from the battle? The only boss battle that clearly gave a hint on what sticker to use was the second one in the desert, which had a baseball stadium as the background. I was legitimately furious when I went against the final boss, got through all the phases with my basic stickers and healing items only to get to the final phase, and then see that after getting rid of Bowser's hands JUMP STICKERS HAVE NO USE (unless they are the metal kind). So I had a full page of jump stickers in my book, and could do nothing for several turns and just let Bowser kill me. And had to play the whole last stretch again.

And did I mention how the battles were the most pointless thing in the game? They just slowed the whole game down with no real purpose since the wonderful battle system from the first two games was removed and replaced with the sticker one. No experience points, no level up progression, only a handful of coins IF you manage to win the fight perfectly. And those coins can only be used to buy more stickers, and you could find those on the field for free. The battles served no purpose in this game. In a Paper Mario game. I just don't even... how could this have passed? Who thought this was a good idea?

Nothing about that is reminiscent of a good game design.

Stripping the RPG elements was a big mistake in my opinion. There just wasn't the same wonderful feeling that the first and second Paper Mario games had. I had genuine fun with Sticker Star only in the jungle quiz level and the Boo House, otherwise it was a drag, and simply put infuriating near the end. Bowser was a wonderful bad guy in all the previous entries, because he TALKED. He had an actual personality, and here goes Sticker Star and displays him only in the beginning and the end, both times just the boring growling big bad guy without the ounce of personality he has in the series before. Not to mention the absence of characters in the whole game, just a bunch of Toads in one town, and only enemies in all the other ones. No Luigi, no helpers, and just like Bowser, Princess Peach is only in the beginning and the end, with no actual input on the story.

From my own viewpoint, I can't think of any better word for Sticker Star than "travesty". Such a massive letdown, and one of the only Nintendo games I legitimately hate.

Re: Etrian Mystery Dungeon, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 And Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold All Coming To Europe

Tuulenpoika

@sweetiepiejonus

Yeah, fair amount of gamers don't like some of their business practices, like censoring content from games before submitting it to the rating process, or not patching their games even though bugs have been found (Witch & Hundred Knight and Danganronpa 2). I, too, am not okay with these things, but the good things they do for European audience greatly outweigh the bad.

And I was actually one of those who bought the European DS release of Devil Survivor 2, and I've been EO fan for many years now, so I know I'm in for a treat

Re: A Splash of New Details Emerge on Splatoon's Development and Inspiration

Tuulenpoika

I personally don't understand the rage about the lack of voice chat. I understand some players want to have it, but come on, this is Nintendo we're talking about. I understand if they don't want a kid-friendly online experience ruined by screaming and profanity-prone players. I, for one, am happy that I don't have to hear any of that, have had enough of that in other games.

Of course, mute button would have been a great alternative way to solve this, but personally, I prefer this solution they went with.

Re: Review: Etrian Mystery Dungeon (3DS)

Tuulenpoika

I don't know what was wrong with the publishing deal they had with NISA before in case of European releases. They managed to release Persona 4 Golden, Persona Q, Soul Hackers and all those Etrian Odyssey games in both retail and digital forms. Then suddenly SMT IV happens. What gives? It sucks when you have no idea what's going on, and it leads to games like this having an unsure future. I don't want that digital-only treatment anymore.

Re: Talking Point: That Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door 3DS Rumour Looks Fake, But Do You Want it to be True?

Tuulenpoika

I've been playing Sticker Star the last few days, and it's been so utterly disappointing, aggravating and flat out uninteresting that it has brought me physical pain. Since I never got TTYD when it was relevant, and seeing how rare the original has become, I would be buying a 3DS remake Day One, full price, without a doubt. Or even better, a double pack with the first one, having the two best ones in one cartridgw would be a dream come true, especially after the disaster called Sticker Star. I just want to have a decent Paper Mario on a handheld next to Dream Team Bros.

It's a shame that this thing is most likely fake, though. A huge shame.

Re: Video: More Bizzare Majora's Mask 3D Glitches Surface

Tuulenpoika

I doubt I'm the only one who has found this one, but when getting to that one respawning rupee chest in eastern Clock Town, if you jump from the high ledge straight to the walkway that leads to southern Clock Town, the transition animation begins when Link is still in the air, and he falls through the world. He still makes it to the other side, of course, and I haven't noticed anything going haywire after doing it several times.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th December (Europe)

Tuulenpoika

Finally Rune Factory 4! I've been waiting for this for so long. Along with the release of Ace Attorney Trilogy, this week is one of the strongest for European eShop this whole year.

Now we just need Gunvolt and Shantae.

Re: Azure Striker Gunvolt Targets An Australian Release

Tuulenpoika

I, for one, was extremely excited for this game until I discovered they flat out removed story-related dialogue that was shown on the top screen during gameplay, and the Japanese voice acting. Now I'm just heavily disappointed by the sloppy localization work they did just to get the game out early. I'm conflicted about buying this game since if I do, as it is at the launch, it would mean that I'm saying the content cutting is OK, and I'm definitely not OK with it.

I'm hugely disappointed because this was one of those great-looking games that seemed to capture the spirit of Mega Man Zero games, my favorite Mega Man game series, and seeing it get neutered like that made me extremely sad. I thought the stupid character design alteration was enough, but not apparently. Just because one focus group told them they didn't want to have story text during the gameplay, it doesn't mean we all want it gone. Even the Japanese version had the option to toggle it on or off, so why not have the same option in the western version? And removing the voice acting, because western players don't understand Japanese? Seriously?

So utterly disappointed. I wanted to give this game my full support, but not like this. I have sent a couple of e-mails to Inti Creates about these matters and naturally, didn't get any replies.
