I assume that those of us who previously purchased Devil Engine will continue to be able to redownload the original release from our eShop accounts as normal, right?
Easily Grindstone for me. Though Dicey Dungeons comes in second. Both games boast exceptional levels of presentation and, most importantly, they’re a blast to play.
@Crimson_Ridley I’ve just read the comment you posted back in August and I wanted to thank you for being so candid. As someone who’s battled depression and chronic illness for years, and 22 years on, still not come to terms with the sudden death of my parents, I found your message to be pretty damn inspirational.
I wanted to write so much more, but after being really sick over Christmas, I tested positive for Covid today, and I feel like absolute garbage. My head’s a blurry mess, but I wanted you to know that reading your comment gave me the boost I needed today. Thanks, man.
A pretty great list this, but I’m surprised not to see A Short Hike here. Particularly at such an affordable price point.
Also, for those who took a look at Nintendo’s short video that’s included in this article, there’s a glaring mistake at the very end. Did you spot it, too?
I’m currently trying to make my mind up between Kentucky Route Zero, Slay the Spire, Spiritfarer and Unto the End, which are all on sale right now. Plus racers, GRID Autosport and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit are both half-price right now.
If I could get two from those six, which should I pick up? Meanwhile, Immortals: Fenyx Rising is down to 40 bucks on the NA eShop. Should that be on my radar, too?
While I concede that it’s certainly not the 'best' Nintendo Switch game this year, my personal favourite was Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I enjoyed every single hour I‘ve poured into it so far and I haven’t finished with the game by a long shot!
Hey Nintendo Life, whatever happened to including polls in these 'What are You Playing this Weekend' articles? They’ve been absent for a good few weeks now, which is a shame, as I always enjoyed taking a look at – and participating in – the polls.
So happy about this. Really can’t wait to find out more about Disco Elysium on Switch. Really hoping the gameplay experience is comparable with the PC version of the game!
@NintendoByNature Now that was a good price. It may take a little while, but keeping my fingers crossed for you that you find it again at a similarly discounted price in the not too distant future!
@NintendoByNature I want Three Houses too, but as someone who’s never really played a strategy game before, much less any previous games in the FE series, I’m worried about shelling out £49.99 (or the previously discounted price of £33.49) in case I don’t end up getting on with it.
However, if we ever see a half-price sale, I’ll most likely take a punt on it, but I really don’t see that happening any time soon or, knowing Nintendo like we do, perhaps even ever!
Great review, Chris. Sounds like an amazing game, but the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced I should pick this one up on PS4.
Portability is fantastic, but over the last few months, I’ve been doing the vast majority of my gaming at home on the TV, so playing only.. say 10% (max) of the entire game in handheld mode just isn’t worth the payoff in my particular circumstances. Especially with the PlayStation version costing around a third of this new Switch port.
[EDIT]:
You know what, the more I think about it, the more likely I am to pick this up on Switch. This is clearly another miraculous port by Panic Button, probably their best yet, but the reason for my change of heart is simple; GYRO CONTROLS.
Whether playing docked or handheld, I always, always use gyro aiming – which is especially important to me in FPS games – and the PS4 version just doesn’t support this feature. Therefore, I’ll almost certainly go with my trusty Switch for DOOM Eternal after all.
Glad it’s official. Can’t wait for this one. I was more than happy with the performance of Age of Calamity, so I’ll likely grab Persona 5 Strikers on Switch instead of PS4. Either way, it’s a day one buy for sure!
Where’s the NL review? I’ve seen a few pop up on YouTube already this morning, though I wouldn’t mind seeing the NL verdict before making any decisions.
@Kidfunkadelic83 My dreams for something from Vanillaware has pushed Sakuna up to a lofty position on my wishlist, so I’m clearly digging the combat. I just hope I dig the, erm.. digging! Thanks again for the advice, man 😊
@Ryu_Niiyama @BenAV @Makina @Kidfunkadelic83 @Rosona Thanks for the advice guys! With such overwhelmingly positive feedback, I think I may well grab Sakuna after all. Thanks again!
I’d really fancied this for at least a year now, but was put off by the luke warm reviews it received, especially at the £34.99 price point when I’ve got the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles, Astral Chain and Dragon Quest XI S still in my backlog. But what do you guys think? Would you recommend I dive in and give Sakuna a chance?
@JaxonH I’ve gotta say, I’m really feeling the Persona vibe at the moment and I’m super hyped for Strikers. Really glad you enjoyed the demo – and that it runs so well on Switch!
I don’t have a PC, so I’ve even been thinking of picking up a used Vita just so I can replay P4G. In fact, Golden is the single biggest factor for me regretting selling my Vita in the first place. I traded it in when buying my first Switch on launch day.
@SilentHunter382 That’s interesting to note. I’d have thought it’s probably a little bug in Astro’s Playroom rather than an issue with your mic, but it’s worth investigating. I only play single-player stuff myself, so I doubt I’d ever use that feature (other than the aforementioned Astro’s Playroom of course).
@BlubberWhale I’m playing through P5 Royal right now, but if I wasn’t and I simply wanted to get up to speed, I’d probably just hunt down a good Let’s Play on YouTube.
@SilentHunter382 Really happy for you, man! Hope you’re enjoying it. Hey, is the DualSense as amazing as it sounds? It’s probably the thing I’m most looking forward to from the PS5.
@JoeDiddley I bought Age of Calamity, but as a fan of P5, I’m definitely still down for Strikers in February! I’m actually quite surprised how much I’m enjoying the Musou gameplay.
@GetontheStiix If it was me, with the game now only a couple months away, I’d probably return it and hold fire until February. Though I know I’d be tempted to tear off the shrink wrap and fire it up right away 😅
@SilentHunter382 PS4 it is then! Though hopefully I’ll have a PS5 by then. Almost got one yesterday. My wife’s friend works in Argos and said she’ll put one by for me, then when we texted to say we’re on our way, she replied saying that she already let it go to someone else and all the others were already reserved. Such high and low emotions in one short evening.
Does anyone else experience issues with the gyro controls in Borderlands 2. No matter how much I play with the sensitivity options, they just don’t feel right to me.
@SlimPieEats Oh Ys VIII is a great game. I’d go as far to say that it’s unmissable at that price, especially if you prefer to play docked. I thought it looked much nicer on the TV.
@Franklin Oh yeah, I’d completely forgotten about the Cuphead DLC. Can’t be too far out now?
Hey guys, can anyone vouch for Wolfenstein II on Switch? Does it support motion controls, and is it best played in docked or handheld mode? If the port is up to the job, I may well (finally) bite!
Though I’ll definitely grab either Tokyo Mirage Sessions or Catherine: Full Body if they receive similar discounts on the UK eShop. My fingers are firmly crossed, but I won’t hold my breath.
Unfortunately, I missed out when The World Ends With You was 50% off a couple months back, so it’d be nice – if highly unlikely – to see it receive another rare price drop. But hey, with today’s TWEWY news, you can’t say it wouldn’t be nice timing for Square.
Although New Horizons looks beautiful and has been so well received by critics and fans alike, I‘ve still not played this or any other Animal Crossing game!
[HELP WANTED] Am I a fool and missing out.. or at 47, am I simply too long in the tooth for the series? Genuinely, what do you guys think?
By the time The Phantom Strikers does eventually find its way onto our shores, I really do hope that all the hype for – and fans enjoyment of – Age of Calamity helps it to sell more units, rather than have the opposite affect and leave players feeling burned out by all that Musou and end up skipping the game altogether.
However, if it does it end up shifting enough copies, maybe Atlus will finally give in and bring the mainline Persona 5 Royal to Switch after all? Now that would be something to get behind.
Either way, as with the aforementioned Hyrule Warriors tomorrow, Scramble will be a day one buy for me!

@inkbearga Just the feedback I was looking for. Will pick it up before the NA sale ends!
Re: Nintendo Download: 31st December (North America)
Should I get Immortals while it’s still on sale or plump for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Spiritfarer instead? 🤔
Re: Nintendo Download: 31st December (North America)
Definitely nothing for me this week. Though I tried the CTR trial. It’s not a patch on MK8D. Nowhere near. Deleted.

It’ll be nice to see if the sale ever takes a first party Nintendo title below £33 for a change, though I very much doubt it.

@SilentHunter382 Yeah, unless there’s not much in it, I’ll likely go for the PS4 version, too. I mean, that’s where I have P5 Royal.
@GameOtaku Oh man, that must have been horrible! I adored P4G and have even been thinking about picking up a used Vita, just so I can play it again.
