Re: Devolver Digital Is Bringing The Indie Gem Death's Door To Switch Next Month

The_Pixel_King

Over the moon that Death’s Door has finally been confirmed for Nintendo Switch. For my tastes, other than perhaps Little Devil Inside, it was the only decent game from last night’s entire State of Play presentation. And less than four weeks to wait. Excellent!

Speaking of Xbox exclusives, I’d love for Sable, Tunic and Twelve Minutes to also make the jump to Switch after they eventually pass their exclusivity period over on the Microsoft console.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 23rd)

@FatWormBlowsASparky I was watching it on YouTube last night, but had to stop right as they were about to discuss what they’ve been playing. I’ll finish it off tonight. I’m glad Seth Macey has taken over the reins as host now. He’s quite the entertainer. Though I still prefer it when they include Peer and Brian Altano on the podcast.

Re: Poll: So, Which Switch OLED Did You Buy?

The_Pixel_King

@WoomyNNYes I was dreading the transfer process, but it was surprisingly simple in the end. So long as you have both consoles to hand, you’ll be good. I used the very helpful NL guide.

As with most early OLED adopters, I went with the white option. It looks even better than I thought it would.

Re: The Point & Click Sale Discounts 10 Games On Switch

The_Pixel_King

Okay, last post here, but I just have to say that I really, really wish the Special Edition remasters of the Monkey Island games were on Switch. The second of which is my favourite ever game in the entire genre. They were particularly fabulous on iPad in the early 2010’s.

Clearly it isn’t in this sale, but for those looking for a stunningly beautiful and charismatic point and click on Switch, you really can’t do much better than Machinarium. It’s from the team behind the Samorost series, and if you dig it, look up a game called Chuchel on mobile. It’s simply a joy to look at, listen to and play.

Lair of the Clockwork God is a slick mash-up of point and click puzzling and 2D platforming that has a wonderful habit of making you feel really clever. I’d give it a strong recommendation (especially at this price), but I’m not certain they ever got around to patching the bugs that were still present when I bought it several months post launch.

Re: Horizon Chase Turbo Honours F1's Ayrton Senna In New 'Senna Forever' Expansion

@scottishwildcat Oh god, yes of course. Seriously, I could talk about motorsport (and video games) all day long, so it’s really nice to take a [Lance] stroll down F1 memory lane with you. My memory can be pretty awful, so it’s nice to have it jogged every now and then. Thanks, buddy! 🙂

[EDIT] Speaking of memory lane, I literally only just recalled a game I used to play during the early 90’s on my brothers SNES. I was in my late teens back then and didn’t really get into playing anything other than racing games and each FIFA instalment until much later, probably my 30’s. But at that time, I remember buying – and playing nothing other than – Nigel Mansell’s World Chamionship. Don’t know how it was critically and commercially received at release, but I absolutely adored that game.

@nessisonett I’ve also been to a number of live WSB and MotoGP races and seen some horrible crashes. How they get up and walk away from some of those two-wheeled crashes is incredible.

I had a sub-30mph crash on my Ducati 999 in 2004 and ended up in hospital for a month and in a wheelchair for a year. Broke my hip, leg, shoulder, clavicle and ribs. But the pro’s slide off at 100mph+ with no more that a shrug. Thankfully!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

The_Pixel_King

I know a lot of people were ecstatic after the Direct last night and YouTuber’s are shouting from the rooftops, but I thought it was average at best. Other than Metroid Dread that I was already hyped for, the only thing that caught my attention was Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which looked kinda cool. Even Bayonetta 3 looked distinctly drab to me. I know I’m probably in the minority though, and I’m happy for those who enjoyed it. My score? 5/10.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Baldo Review?

The_Pixel_King

@sparkyfilm You posted an 'update' comment saying you just played another hour (and that the game has got even better), but it was only 8 minutes after your previous comment. Did you time travel between your posts (😂) or am I missing something?

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Baldo Review?

The_Pixel_King

Perhaps it’s a tad melodramatic, but you really can’t help but draw some comparisons to last years Cyberpunk 2077 debacle.

I know Baldo: The Guardian Owls had been delayed a number of times already, but I just find it really sketchy to let fans buy such a highly anticipated, yet very buggy, game prior to reviews going live.

Re: Five Years Later, Nintendo's Lawsuit Against 'White Cat Project' Has Finally Been Settled

The_Pixel_King

@Eddy9000 While you’re absolutely correct, I just knew someone here would come in jumping to Nintendo’s defence. Just like so many fans who actually want to pay 60 dollars for ten-year-old games.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Nintendo’s games, but like just about every other multi-billion-dollar company, they sure are greedy for more. What a world we live in huh.
