Re: FAST Racing NEO Developer Shin’en Multimedia Would Love To Stick With Nintendo Hardware In The Future

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech I'm sick and tired of having to deal with NoA, that's why. Once I buy A-Train and maybe a few more games that deserve it (the Arc Systems Works games localized by Natsume, and that FF Tactics look-a-like), I'll see if importing from other regions is worth it.

It's childish, really, but NoE at least tries to get things done. Fatal Frame V being digital-only is the last straw.

That said, I'll still buy games from Atlus and Xseed. You know, physical! Besides, I've found a treasure trove of unsold Atlus LEs, and they happen to be games I don't have yet. EO2U, EMD, SMT Devil Summoner Soul Hackers, all unsold and on the cusp of a price drop. And, if my intuition is correct, a store near me will order lots of copies of Senran Kagura Deep Crimson...

I'm still debating with myself whether to pirate that MGS theme or not, though, considering how Konami has gone.

Re: Nintendo 2DS Drops To $99 In North America

TheWPCTraveler

@hYdeks To be honest, if I was picking between the N3DS XL and the 2DS at their respective prices, I'd go for the 2DS considering how comfy it is.

Seriously, if they managed to put a better D-pad on it and made the L/R buttons push in slightly deeper, I'd go for it in a heartbeat!

Re: Rejoice, There's A Tingle Costume In Super Mario Maker

TheWPCTraveler

@ekreig I want to take it one step further.
Every game henceforth must integrate the Tingle amiibo (they should make one) into the game, be it by unlocking a Tingle outfit or bringing Tingle into the game.

Why don't we have one Tingle amiibo bundled with each and every Nintendo hardware unit sold, too?

Re: Nintendo Removes Ironfall Invasion From 3DS eShop Ahead Of Ironhax Exploit Release

TheWPCTraveler

@JaxonH Flaw: EO actually got localized during the DS era. All three entries, in fact, occasionally with bug fixes not present in the JP versions. Stella Glow came from the former developer of the Luminous Arc series, so if that got localized, there shouldn't be any doubt about Stella Glow. And...XSEED and Aksys both exist.

Also, one cursory look at the Vita is enough to disprove your point.

And, when you have localization teams like NIS America has, don't you think that you'd rather play the original rather than go for the...poor localization?

Re: Mario History: Punch-Out!! and Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race - 1987

TheWPCTraveler

@DarthNocturnal Now that I think about it, I meant the amiibo party treatment, but that works too.

I have so many ideas for an entertaining E3 for Nintendo, really.
Like Nintendo revealing a New Super Mario Land and making people think it was going to be their big holiday game, before revealing a new true 3D Mario
Or Shigesato Itoi walking on stage and going on about the virtues of the Mother series...then revealing Shigesato Itoi's Bass Fishing U, before the head of Creatures, Inc. goes up on stage and reveals Mother 4 with Itoi saying that he looks forward to just being the player.

I look forward to such ruse cruises.

Re: Mario History: Punch-Out!! and Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race - 1987

TheWPCTraveler

@DarthNocturnal I was actually thinking of how Reggie would probably be fine with it, considering how he's already "fired" Bill.

I just wat to see the internet melt down for a minute or two, as if the Federation Force treatment hit F-Zero this time. Then, the real F-Zero game gets revealed and everyone would scream tears of joy

Re: Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innovation This Console Cycle, But We Didn't Showcase It Well Enough

TheWPCTraveler

@Peach64 I was actually hoping for more use for the GamePad.

To make a point, I'll use something like Wii Music. It could've been a truly powerful tool, imagine Mario Paint-style composition using the GamePad.
Or, I can use Pilotwings. Modern commercial aircraft are complex to the point where a controller can't hope to even get close to enough buttons to control something like an A320, or an E172. Again, the GamePad could do this with its screen, not to mention its gyro controls.
Or, I could do Battalion Wars or Pikmin. Except, I can now look at TWO places at once! In an RTS!
Or something obvious like Pokémon Snap (or a Fatal Frame HD remake), or that golf game in Wii Sports Club.
Or something touch-focused like a new Osu game (iNiS has gone mobile, though), a new Trauma Team/Center (ATLUS?), a new set of card games referencing Nintendo's origins?
Or a shooter using it as a reticule and a map? Something like Code Name: STEAM, or Valkyria Chronicles (SEGA?)

I know they shouldn't hire me, a lot of these ideas aren't exactly profitable, but someone like me thought of this many ideas to utilize the GamePad in ten minutes, you'd at least think that Nintendo gets it.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

TheWPCTraveler

@CrazedCavalier I know I should've expected this, but considering how big fans some of then are of Kibayashi, I thought they'd do less changes to the story.

I think I'll just stick with Nohr and the Invisible Kingdom out of spite at this rate.

@Senario I guess different people have different opinions. I loved how crazy the difficulty changes were in the game - and even then, you can't even relax on the easier maps. And, that doesn't discount how fantastic the music is.

Though, there should've been the option to skip animations from the get-go.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Looks Set to be a Single Release in the West, According to Amazon

TheWPCTraveler

@LordofMentos Since you seem to be so fixated on one minor aspect of the game, let me tell you something.

There are only two characters in the entire set of games who pursue "marriages," of the same gender. They happen to be on opposite routes.
So, unless the localization teams spit on Kibayashi's work and alter the story and characters of Fates, you'll most likely be stuck on the path with (specific marriage option), if you choose to.

That said, I want to marry Dio--er, Zero, no matter what it takes...

EDIT: Gah, I forgot about the Invisible Kingdom. In that case, you can marry both, but it is obscured behind a paywall. Pun not intended.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

TheWPCTraveler

I arrived here way too late to advocate my position effectively.
Let the devs do what they want. That is my stance on every issue where this happens.

Okay, you get offended. So what? That doesn't give you the right to cry and moan about this, especially if the devs made it so you don't need to do it and it's included in the base game instead of being cut and being DLC.

I like how people cry for "localization changes" for this, though. I mean, just because it's the "right kind" of censorship doesn't make it any less wrong.
That goes for you, @Bagels. That's right, here's your guaranteed reply™ .

You know what? I'll keep talking.

From what I've seen, Fates: Conquest is arguably the best handheld FE game.
The music is fantastic, and actually fits the mood well. (Hoshido has better music in general, though, good enough to stand out in the E3 trailer; that's a win for Birthright)
The graphics are, well, great for an FE game. The touch of having the game zoom into your position nearly seamlessly calls to mind what the Tellius games and Awakening could've done with their graphics.
The RNG-heavy parts of the Awakening support system were scrapped, and pair up is now usable by AI. That gives us a GBA-style battle system where the additions actually flow on naturally, and adds another layer of strategy.
And, as far as I hear, the map objectives in Conquest are not only varied, but downright punishing.
I place my trust in Kibayashi that the story is at least good, though what I've heard for Invisible Kingdom gives me pause for concern. Same goes for the characters and their designs, though the NPCs blow them out of the water.

Thank you for granting me the audience to voice my concerns.
I'll offer parley.

Re: Chris Pranger From Nintendo Treehouse Discusses Harsh Realities Of Localisation

TheWPCTraveler

If I could buy shares of Nintendo, I'd put my money where my mouth is, and state emphatically that software moves hardware.

These localization debacles do not help the game droughts that occur sporadically. Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ could have been the big holiday title for the west in 2015 for the 3DS, and Fatal Frame V could prove to Koei Tecmo that the audience for Fatal Frame is most alive on Nintendo platforms.
I could go on.

My point is, I recognize that not a lot of investors share my medium-term view.
I understand that my proposals may burn through more cash that they take in. However, my view is that the company has to take risks in order to get advantages in the long term.

Titles like Taiko no Tatsujin could fill the gap the Wii U gap in terms of rhythm games - which, in my opinion, is ridiculous - Puyo Puyo Tetris could appeal to the same audience as Dr. Luigi. Code Name STEAM out on the Wii U, and marketed correctly, could provide the basis for a Valkyria Chronicles game on the platform.
Again, I could go on.

Remember, software moves hardware. I got a Wii U because of The Wonderful 101...on sale.

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (3DS)

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech I forgot to mention that was a week or so ago. Persona Q outright refuses to have price drops on it, I'm still seeing the LE at $120, actually going up slightly in price.

Then again, the retailer I went to has a knack of having price swings. Rune Factory IV doubled in price back to $40, EO IV and DS Overclocked jumped back to $30, all while SMT IV fell to $20 from $40...

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (3DS)

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech ...and more than half of my 3DS games are published by Atlus...

I'd buy that excuse if they somehow gave us dual audio, though, especially for Persona Q and DS2 Record Breaker. I mean, they can do dual-audio already...for the music, not the voice acting, in EO.

@River3636 Ah, I see. Then again, I prefer not having to walk through a town.
I mean, considering how EO is as a dungeon crawler, I'd rather not have to deal with that structure in towns.

Then again, a real-time EO would be nice...you can see all enemy encounters, not just FOEs, and they actually move around in real-time, just like you. Not only that, you have to draw the map, and the game won't stop for you...

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (3DS)

TheWPCTraveler

@River3636 EO3U has sailing, so I doubt that they wouldn't skimp out on it and not put an overworld map.
@zipmon Hey, I like sound of that. Though, there's one thing missing...once they finish work on that #FE spin-off, they should work on something in the vein of Radiant Historia...
@Spoony_Tech I thought I'd share something with you.
I found the first print edition of Persona Q selling for ~$40 alongside one without the extras for $50.
It was strange, considering how they were actually selling just the game for $40 until the distributor got a wind of it and made them put it at $50.

Re: Video: Splatoon Co-Director Tsubasa Sakaguchi Gets Grilled By Kids

TheWPCTraveler

They didn't ask if he was a kid or a squid.

Very disappointed in those children.

@rjejr You know, they could launch the Nintendo handheld first, then after lots of them have been sold, they can announce a Nintendo console that those handhelds can be paired with!

I realized this just as I read your comment - the bonus is they don't have to bundle a tablet controller with every unit!

I feel like a genius!
Thanks you.
