PAX Prime is taking place in Seattle this week, one of the most popular expos held annually in the US - it's already sold out. As always Nintendo of America is planning to have a significant presence, in the process aiming to win over some gamers to the Wii U and 3DS cause.
A notable event this year is a Xenoblade Chronicles X panel, which will feature members of the Treehouse localisation team. Taking place on 29th August at 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Pacific in the Wyvern Theater, attendees will be able to check out concept art, "new game play" and pose some questions in a Q & A.
Sadly, Xenoblade Chronicles X won't be playable on the show floor, which is disappointing in light of its recent appearance at Gamescom in Germany. The following retail games will be playable, though.
- Star Fox Zero
- Super Mario Maker,
- The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
- Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash
- Splatoon - showing off the Autumn update and Transformers Splatfest outfits an
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Skylanders SuperChargersRacing (3DS version, playable with Bowser and Donkey Kong content)
As always, there'll also be contests and events for attendees to compete in, using the following games.
- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
- Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
Pleasingly Nintendo is also planning plenty of eShop 'Nindie' support. There'll be a Nindies Lounge in the Sheraton Seattle hotel opposite the main venue, with 13 games (and their developers) available to try out and talk to. Pleasingly there are a few games that will serve as a first look for many.
- Action Henk (Curve Digital)
- FAST Racing Neo (Shin'en)
- Freedom Planet (Galaxy Trail)
- Hive Jump (Graphite Lab)
- Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty (Oddworld Inhabitants, Inc. / Just Add Water (Developments) Ltd. / Nephilim Games)
- Runbow (13AM Games)
- Shantae Half-Genie Hero (WayForward)
- Typoman (Headup Games / Brainseed Factory)
- Year Walk (Simogo / Dakko Dakko)
- Mutant Mudds Super Challenge (Renegade Kid)
- SteamWorld Heist (Image & Form)
- The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Nicalis, Inc.)
- Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows (Yacht Club Games)
Quite a lot going on at PAX Prime this year, then. We'll be soaking it in as always - are you a lucky ticket holder?

Seen all the gameplay I need to at this point. Gimme it!
How about showing some of that "amazing" Zelda U footage that they held back from E3? I think we deserve an update by now.
Hmm, the main game list is still focusing on several month old games. Unless Smash has DLC being released this week it should not be on the list! Also Splatoon shouldn't be on the list!
At least Star Fox Zero is being shown I guess.
How... is that game not playable.... That has me slightly worried. Though i guess they don't want to make a demo just for this even.
@Grumblevolcano
The problem is, what else do they really have?
@Grumblevolcano @ikki5 Grumble about Fatal Frame V being treated horribly at the hands of NoA, then.
Seriously, digital-only and not a single print run like NoE did? And Devil's Third gets one? Seriously, NoA?
wait...there's another big update coming to splatoon?
alright, anyone who is there please tell me if octolings are involved.
@ikki5 Fatal Frame V, Devil's Third, Xenoblade Chronicles X (not just a panel but also playable on showfloor), Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Rodea The Sky Soldier. Last year's events (as in playable on showfloor) focusing on Smash, Splatoon, MK8 was perfectly fine given those games were either not yet released or had upcoming DLC confirmed to a specific month.
If I wanted to make a bet, I'd put a huge amount of money that EGX's lineup this year will be identical to this PAX lineup in addition to Xenoblade X, MK8 and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival.
@Grumblevolcano
You named... one multiplayer game that isn't even going to be a big hit, Xenoblade which they already said won't be playable so you sort of double dipped an Fatal Frame... a download only game. Devils third, we also don't know much about that in NoA because NoA is stupid. Rodea the Sky Soldier is a 3rd party game and from that list, I only see First Party... well with the two exceptions of course with Skylanders using Bowser and DK Amiibo and then Monster Hunter but those are there for obvious reasons. Even still with your few more additions... that really isn't much... mostly because there isn't much to show at all. But overall, a lot of stuff you names is very niche.
@DoctorWily Yeah I'm seriously looking forward to that game.
OHH i cant wait for xenoblade chronicles X!! these months are gonna feel so slow
So, is the Wii U Legend of Zelda game stuck in development Underwhere or something?
@DarkKirby I still think it's because of NX, I don't expect any new news will come until that console is fully unveiled.
Why do they not have Yo-kai Watch as a playable title? The only way to raise awareness and dispel the current negative stigma a lot of players have against the game (calling it a Pokemon clone when it's clearly not) is to let them experience it for themselves
Any fellow Nintendo Lifers going to be at PAX? Or the Xenoblade panel?
Most of the demos I already played at Comic Com's Nintendo Lounge. But I'm in for Star Fox Zero and some of those indie games, especially Shantae since I was part of the Kickstarter.
Every time I look at the calendar, I see that it's almost the end of 2015. Then I think to myself "The legend of Zelda is coming out this y.... oh I forgot."
If Nintendo isn't going to talk about Zelda U, then I ain't listening. Got other stuff to play at the moment, so yeah...
