Re: Kirby: Planet Robobot Passes 300,000 Sales in Japan's Media Create Results

TheWPCTraveler

@rjejr amiibo festival probably won't even break 50k lifetime including digital. It's that much of a disaster.

Corporate consumers of data would probably prefer to have divisions in SKU considered (the Persona Q LE, for instance, is extremely common even after a year and a half, and its price has dropped down to $40-50).
I don't really understand them not splitting X/Y and other Pokémon games the same way, though.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Is Codenamed "MH"

TheWPCTraveler

@Rei Yes, it's been the case apart from the GB/C. That said, support for the GBA continued on longer than that for the GCN did, as was the case with the DS and Wii, and is the case with the Wii U and 3DS.

Oh, and thanks for the info on Macross. I found myself listening to an arrangement of "Do You Remember Love?" lately because it happened to be part of a collection by Melodic Taste, so the Macross movie got bumped from my backlog to the fore.

Re: Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits & Fleshy Souls Arrive in North America on 30th September

TheWPCTraveler

@hepgius Head and Founder were the JP title translations, right? Head -> skull -> bone. Founder -> human -> flesh.

@Grumblevolcano Are the DQ VII and VIII 3DS remakes handled by Nintendo or Square Enix? DQ VII is coming around summer, I believe, so we can expect an August date on that one.

Assuming no new 3DS reveals for E3 and no new localizations (Culdcept Revolt is ripe for this, however), Pokemon Sum and Moom will be the last 3DS games to be released by Nintendo.

I want to take note of Atlus being the one publisher to hang on to the 3DS past Nintendo, though. Etrian Odyssey V probably won't make it to the holiday season.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

TheWPCTraveler

@sillygostly Nintendo has relations with several good animation studios: SHAFT, MADHOUSE, and Production IG.

Actually, I do believe they stuck with MADHOUSE for the pre-rendered 3D animation in both Awakening and Fates, so, there's your animation studio.

Re: Video: These Fresh Character Trailers For Etrian Odyssey V Will Boost Your "Excitement" Stat

TheWPCTraveler

Here's what my activity log looks like:

Persona Q: 101:21 [1st Playthrough: 5S/11F (cleared)]
Etrian Odyssey Untold (+ Demo): 96:88 [2nd playthrough: 2S/B5F]
Etrian Odyssey IV (+ Demo): 76:51 [1st Playthrough: 6S/2F]

If I didn't do stuff like using Dowsing Rods everywhere in the overworld and getting stuck on a side quest.
All things considered, it took me 55 or so hours to beat EO IV, not 45. The rest of the time there were either resets or trying to complete the game after beating Yggdrasil up.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I normally end up just sticking with a set rotation of five or six characters through an entire playthrough. Though, yes, this did mean that I ended up ignoring characters I liked (like that priestess from EO IV) and characters I didn't like (nearly everyone I ignored in PQ).

Re: Video: These Fresh Character Trailers For Etrian Odyssey V Will Boost Your "Excitement" Stat

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech Yeah, I guess I did tell you this before.

I'm hoping for a release around November or so, but considering every other RPG coming out, it'll probably pushed back to February 2017 or so.

@Blastcorp64 If your main complaint with EO IV is how short it is (~45 hours to beat the story felt short to me), then you'll love how much content PQ has. So, by all means, go for it.
Then again, these Atlus sales are pretty common, so you probably shouldn't bother with the LE that's more than halved its original $120 price.

Re: Smartphone Animal Crossing And Fire Emblem Will Both Be Free-To-Play

TheWPCTraveler

Let the Animal Crossing game be Happy Home Designer but with actual, defined goals. Your transaction options will be additional furniture packs and stores for the local economy and city to flourish...rendering you more opportunities to redecorate or villagers eager to get their houses redecorated for the nth time.

Let the Fire Emblem gane be a visual novel. "Romantic" routes with characters other than yourself are locked behind a paywall or My Nintendo points. Skinship is DLC.

Done.

Where's my pay, Nintendo?

Re: Ouendan And Elite Beat Agents Creator Would Love To Continue The Series On Nintendo NX

TheWPCTraveler

If thet tap into the audience that osu! enjoys on PC, that would be great! I'm one of those people who'd love these, actually.
They better make the backstories just as inspiring as the ones in the DS games, too. There are quite a few that got me to break into a wide smile, too.

That said, these games never broke 300k...and we know the NCL attitude toward these sorts of games that were commercial failures...

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Like to See From Pokémon Sun and Moon?

TheWPCTraveler

@FullbringIchigo How about this:

  • AI Trainers no longer challenge the player to the battle unless the player is on a tile directly beside the trainer.
  • Not all AI Trainers will stay in one spor or move in predictable manners...some will CHASE you!
  • AI trainers can move one tile per turn closer to you as you get stuck in wild battles, not counting the initial encounter.
  • AI Trainers can also get stuck in wild battles of their own, and jumping in allows you to battle a (slightly) wealened team.
  • The option to turn all that off

Sounds better? I think so.

Re: Looks Like Nintendo's Familiar Red And White Branding Is Back For Good

TheWPCTraveler

@TJF588 Nah, Rom and Ram will probably step up their game. About time IF finally realize it's been Nintendo's handhelds that have been holding the company together.

That said, this scheme reminds me of Austria, of which eventually turned into the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary, which then fell apart after five years of pyrrhic victories in a war that seemed to end all wars (this later resulted in a brief accomplishment of the Grossdeutschland ideal rather than the Kleindeutschland ideal that resulted in the German Empire dominated by Prussia...)
I'm afraid of my analogy being truth rather than speculation.

Re: Guide: Getting Started With My Nintendo

TheWPCTraveler

@DefHalan Smash Bros. DLC. Or, barring that, switch state to California (or some place with an effective sales tax of >16.7%). That said, it may not be worth the cost.

Take note, the base price is the price taken into account, so if you manage to snag a 15~20% discount on the game...

Re: My Nintendo and Miitomo to Launch in the West on 31st March

TheWPCTraveler

Wow, the Serbs really have it tough when it comes to Nintendo stuff. Even Greece, a glorified German puppet state, is getting Miitomo!

Why don't they launch this in the Philippines, though? It's perfect for all the gossipers here. While there are doubts that they are monetizable, they will use the application.

Re: Miitomo Makes Storming Debut on iOS in Japan

TheWPCTraveler

Here's a reminder that some games that are very popular in Japan, like Kantai Collection, Youkai Watch, Monster Hunter, and Puzzle & Dragons have trouble even getting here!

Japan launch is not representative of worldwide trends, though I hope they are for this instance. It might make Nintendo great again in the eyes of the consumer - that's huge.

Re: Pocket Card Jockey Comes to the 3DS This May

TheWPCTraveler

@Tsuchinoko How'd horse racing get popular over there? I understand baseball getting popular, and I like watching horses race (gambling on them is also fun, but I'd lose my shirt if I did), so I think I understand.

By the way, the DS/Wii era could've been the death knell for IS's tactical games in general. So many flops...Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, Days of Ruin, BWii...

Re: First Etrian Odyssey V Story Details Emerge From the Depths

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech The wallpaper is the background of sq-atlus.co.jp/sq5
A direct link is here: sq-atlus.co.jp/sq5/images/bg02.jpg

It implies that apart from the Yggdrasil to be climbed and your town to serve as your base of operations, there seems to be the possibility that you can also traverse the world in the background - the desert, the volcanoes, the citadel in the background that screams "SUSPICIOUS!" Now that Lunarians have been revealed as a race, the moon(s) could also be traversible.

It would be nice to have labyrinths that look actually like wood from the Yggdrasil, too. They have no excuse this time, wood textures are about as easy to reuse as the flesh textures from the sixth stratum of EO I/U (I think).

Re: Review: Front Mission (SNES)

TheWPCTraveler

@Shiryu Thank you. I was rather annoyed when I found out that this wasn't a VC review, though.

Also: "players have no choice but to use this to their own advantage in order to overcome some of the game's sterner tests."
I'll be mumbling about finding a opy of the DS version on my way out. Well, this and other mecha games.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Becomes Fastest Selling Release in Franchise History in the US

TheWPCTraveler

@Peach64 Assume a typical drop of 70-80% by the second week and you get 360k+ physical+digital, or 400k+ physical+digital if these were physical-only figures.

That total would bring life-to-date Fates unit sales to 900k, not including routes sold as add-on content.

I'm happy that Fire Emblem is getting the sales it deserves as a franchise. I'm rather saddened, however, that this probably means more Awakening-style games - I personally want a return to the grandeur of the Tellius games.

@Spoony_Tech Since we're discussing sales figures, you may want to know that Stella Glow probably hasn't broken 100k copies life-to-date worldwide.
(P.S. Dream Team and Awakening both have beautiful final battle themes.)

@MoonKnight7
Awakening is a step back in many ways - balance, maps, characters, music! I think that what it did right was the amount of content: 45+ maps for $40.

Fates is a step forward relative to Awakening in many ways. Music, balance, maps, graphics, and so on. From what I've seen, it's still not quite what I'm looking for from an FE, however.

Conquest looks fun, though.
