Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Earns $16.8 Million In The Month Of September

TheWPCTraveler

@Mailman The game is somewhat devoid of tactics in its current state, but not in the way you think it is.
Let's just say that powercreep has made a lot of the older PvE content a pushover, grinding for feathers has become trivial thanks to 0-cost GHBs and Grand Conquests...and that in itself renders "Stamina" worthless.

Team composition is still important (especially in the PvP modes), though, but considering IS and their lack of care or inability to balance the game, that's dulled quite a lot.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Holds Its Own In The UK Software Charts

TheWPCTraveler

@Agramonte Monolith Soft have done Project X Zone and have assisted with the mainline 3D Zelda titles (SS and BoTW, iirc) over the past few years. Breath of the Wild and its open world wouldn't be the same without them, lol.
Regarding the sales of the Xenoblade series so far, I'd say that they're negatively affected by two major factors:
(1) That the games do not have much overlap with the general Nintendo audience in the first place - and that they aren't as easy to get into, thus also denying them the breakout opportunity that Fire Emblem had on the 3DS.
(2) The general (J)RPG audience already have platforms (in this case, PS4 or PSV) that offer an abundance of the titles they want, and that Xenoblade alone isn't enough to entice them to buy a Switch. (I'm one of them, except that I'm still clearing out my 3DS backlog, so I'll just wait until the next Fire Emblem to hop onboard.)

Xenoblade is actually doing fairly well, I'd say, though I'd still wait for whenever the full-year financial report comes out. That's when we'd know if Xenoblade 2 sold over or under a million units.

...
I think I remember you from some other site I visit.

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth (3DS)

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech I completely forgot to reply to this when I first saw this...
I stepped away from being an active commenter here on Nintendo Life for various reasons, but I still drop by occasionally for the reviews.

I've also had to step away from my 3DS since its hinge broke, and I'm saving up for a new one, so I do suppose that I'm lucky I got a new phone soon after (and subsequently got hooked to FE Heroes - definitely a more straightforward FE that leans more on its RPG side on the SRPG genre)

Still, after I saw the review, I found out that EO II Untold dropped in price where I live, so I'm slightly torn now on which to get first.

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth (3DS)

TheWPCTraveler

@Spoony_Tech I had the promotional wallpaper for two years or so as the background to my laptop's...desktop. It really felt as if they were teasing an overworld and central labyrinth with this one...

Regardless, I'll be picking this one up before II Untold, since this one doesn't have the Atlus tax!

Re: Feature: Is Tokyo's Arcade Scene Really Dying?

TheWPCTraveler

Arcades won't die. Well, not, at least, until there's no one left down the (arcade) food chain to sell your old arcade machines to!

I actually found an ice cream crane that Altus made in an arcade near me a while back. And, of course, those food crane machines that can give you a jackpot of food for maybe 25 tokens or so... always nice to get a great deal out of them!

Re: Rumour: Super Mario And Rabbids Crossover In Development For Nintendo Switch

TheWPCTraveler

@Uzuki I imagine that the character who was actually behind this Rabbids infestation was Wario the billionaire, who was able to secure a contract for lucrative mushroom farming lands...which happened to hold a large population of Rabbids.

The final battle of the game involves battling against gold-plated Wario and his gold-plated army, with Waluigi on your side because he lost everything in Wario's casinos...

Re: Looks Like That Bravely Default Tease Was For A Smartphone Game

TheWPCTraveler

This is a disappointment for sure. The visual design for Bravely Default meant that it was easy to slap up a lazy port for the engine, and just upscale the assets and still have the game look respectable.
I guess the Switch mirroring modern smart device platforms is a double-edged sword. They better get some big mobage like Granblue Fantasy or Kantai Collection on the platform in order to make a big splash.

Re: Analysts Expect Nintendo NX Reveal by Early October and Make Bold Super Mario Run Predictions

TheWPCTraveler

@Yorumi I'm really tempted to ask you if you act like a Glaceon anywhere. Of course, you don't act like one here, so it's hard to believe you do so anywhere else.

@XCWarrior They're not going to do Pokemon Go nunbers purely because they're a timed exclusive on iOS.
That said, I am confident that Super Mario Run will have a more direct impact on their bottom line. A 60% take of all revenue instead of, say, 15%, will make up for the smaller install base.

Re: Poll: Did the 3DS Nintendo Direct Boost Your Hype for the Portable's Line-Up?

TheWPCTraveler

@k8sMum @Kiyata Nintendo of Japan made the statement, and to be fair, they actually do follow through. Puyo Puyo Chronicle was given a lot of screen time on their Direct, and every other game bar Megami Megumi is not targeted at a male audience. If you look at their advertisements, you'll also notice that women are also targeted particularly when it comes to more relaxed or casual-looking titles.

That said, let me remind you that the developers of Style Savvy used to make some good wrestling games.

Re: Super Mario Maker Is Coming To 3DS

TheWPCTraveler

@therealgamer The PSV has third-party support. The Wii U doesn't.

Niche third-party support, yes, but the PSV actually has more retail exclusives this year than the Wii U did for the past two years. Past three, if you look at Japan-only titled.

Re: Yo-kai Watch 3 and New 3DS Continue to Lead the Way in Japan

TheWPCTraveler

@SakuraHaruka I forgot about last week, I thought OR/AS sold just ~2400, it sold ~4100. Still, the past two weeks are up sharply over what OR/AS normally does.

Yokai Watch 3, though...I'm holding out hope that it'll settle at weekly sales of ~20k, so it could sell through its first print run by the time Monster Hunter Stories and Pokémon Sun/Moon come out.

Re: Fresh Pokémon Sun And Moon News Coming August 1st

TheWPCTraveler

@Lizuka It's a bottom-falls-out scenario for every party involved.

I believe that with news of boosted Pokémon sales around the world (Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire returned to the Japanese charts this week, and there's also news of boosted Pokémon sales in the United Kingdom of Great Britain), we can easily discount the possibility of a shoddy mobile version happening.
