@Mailman The game is somewhat devoid of tactics in its current state, but not in the way you think it is. Let's just say that powercreep has made a lot of the older PvE content a pushover, grinding for feathers has become trivial thanks to 0-cost GHBs and Grand Conquests...and that in itself renders "Stamina" worthless.
Team composition is still important (especially in the PvP modes), though, but considering IS and their lack of care or inability to balance the game, that's dulled quite a lot.
I thought I saw a battleship trying to evade a stealth bomber, but then I realize that the ship in the preview picture did not have any visible gun turrets.
In any case, it certainly doesn't look like it belongs there.
@Bronson Which stores did you go to? The Datablitz stores I went to all had it in stock yesterday. Then again, one of them relies very heavily on nearby college traffic...which isn't there because we're on vacation.
(Oh, in an earlier comment you made, it looks like you're stuck on some sort of mobile data plan...yikes.)
@Agramonte Monolith Soft have done Project X Zone and have assisted with the mainline 3D Zelda titles (SS and BoTW, iirc) over the past few years. Breath of the Wild and its open world wouldn't be the same without them, lol. Regarding the sales of the Xenoblade series so far, I'd say that they're negatively affected by two major factors: (1) That the games do not have much overlap with the general Nintendo audience in the first place - and that they aren't as easy to get into, thus also denying them the breakout opportunity that Fire Emblem had on the 3DS. (2) The general (J)RPG audience already have platforms (in this case, PS4 or PSV) that offer an abundance of the titles they want, and that Xenoblade alone isn't enough to entice them to buy a Switch. (I'm one of them, except that I'm still clearing out my 3DS backlog, so I'll just wait until the next Fire Emblem to hop onboard.)
Xenoblade is actually doing fairly well, I'd say, though I'd still wait for whenever the full-year financial report comes out. That's when we'd know if Xenoblade 2 sold over or under a million units.
... I think I remember you from some other site I visit.
@Spoony_Tech I completely forgot to reply to this when I first saw this... I stepped away from being an active commenter here on Nintendo Life for various reasons, but I still drop by occasionally for the reviews.
I've also had to step away from my 3DS since its hinge broke, and I'm saving up for a new one, so I do suppose that I'm lucky I got a new phone soon after (and subsequently got hooked to FE Heroes - definitely a more straightforward FE that leans more on its RPG side on the SRPG genre)
Still, after I saw the review, I found out that EO II Untold dropped in price where I live, so I'm slightly torn now on which to get first.
@Spoony_Tech I had the promotional wallpaper for two years or so as the background to my laptop's...desktop. It really felt as if they were teasing an overworld and central labyrinth with this one...
Regardless, I'll be picking this one up before II Untold, since this one doesn't have the Atlus tax!
Arcades won't die. Well, not, at least, until there's no one left down the (arcade) food chain to sell your old arcade machines to!
I actually found an ice cream crane that Altus made in an arcade near me a while back. And, of course, those food crane machines that can give you a jackpot of food for maybe 25 tokens or so... always nice to get a great deal out of them!
@alasdair91 10 US Dollars can buy me breakfast, lunch, and dinner for up to two and a half days if I play my cards right. It's a bug amount of money where I live.
@Uzuki I imagine that the character who was actually behind this Rabbids infestation was Wario the billionaire, who was able to secure a contract for lucrative mushroom farming lands...which happened to hold a large population of Rabbids.
The final battle of the game involves battling against gold-plated Wario and his gold-plated army, with Waluigi on your side because he lost everything in Wario's casinos...
I have every reason to doubt this, but there is one factor that leaves the door ajar. Creatures, Inc. has stepped down its output heavily in the past half-decade, and that Detective Pikachu title is nowhere near a good enough explanation for this. Given their heavy presence in the Pokémon franchise, I'd say that this silence means something.
By the way, while Bravely Default has comfortably broken 1 million in sales, Bravely Second is on track for less than half of that total. Keep that in mind.
This is a disappointment for sure. The visual design for Bravely Default meant that it was easy to slap up a lazy port for the engine, and just upscale the assets and still have the game look respectable. I guess the Switch mirroring modern smart device platforms is a double-edged sword. They better get some big mobage like Granblue Fantasy or Kantai Collection on the platform in order to make a big splash.
@Anti-Matter Storage on mobile devices is actually alarmingly expensive. I say it's good they even bothered to put 32GB in there because at least one game will fit in there.
@Yorumi I'm really tempted to ask you if you act like a Glaceon anywhere. Of course, you don't act like one here, so it's hard to believe you do so anywhere else.
@XCWarrior They're not going to do Pokemon Go nunbers purely because they're a timed exclusive on iOS. That said, I am confident that Super Mario Run will have a more direct impact on their bottom line. A 60% take of all revenue instead of, say, 15%, will make up for the smaller install base.
@Spoony_Tech Considering that there are emulators up on the Windows Store that are called "VBA8," and "SNES8X", I think it makes snese. After all, it also comes across as a homage to a certain program called "DOSBOX."
The rest of the presentation, however, was utterly terrible. In a sense, then, Nintendo saved Apple's Keynote. Nintendo was why Apple's Keynote was atleast worth something.
@XCWarrior NX is due to be released by the end of fiscal year 03/2017. That means the deadline is 31 March 2017.
Unless Super Mario Run is a major success to investors (which it won't - analysts are overhyping it after Pokémon Go passed them by), Kimishima and the Board of Directors will lose investor confidence if they screw up yet another revenue stream.
@Zanark "Buy the rumor, sell the news" is sound trading advice in our brave new world. If you don't believe me, just look at the stock chart for Nintendo. Spikes ahoy for rumors and predictions of increased profit potential, then dips for Nintendo press releases. In general, of course.
@Captain_Gonru I have an idea for Play Coins. They can integrate that with My Nintendo, so you can finally utilize those Platinum coins you've been stockpiling or you can finally earn them because you don't have Miitomo. Not that Nintendo would listen to such a good idea, of course.
@Rei The strange thing about those releases is that they're 3DS/mobile in 2017. I have a feeling Nintendo has already locked them up for the NX, too, so they'll save the announcement for when the NX actually does get revealed.
@k8sMum @Kiyata Nintendo of Japan made the statement, and to be fair, they actually do follow through. Puyo Puyo Chronicle was given a lot of screen time on their Direct, and every other game bar Megami Megumi is not targeted at a male audience. If you look at their advertisements, you'll also notice that women are also targeted particularly when it comes to more relaxed or casual-looking titles.
That said, let me remind you that the developers of Style Savvy used to make some good wrestling games.
@hYdeks I personally enjoyed the Japanese one. By "enjoyed," I mean "pained by how none of the games will get released outside Japan." Especially that Megami Megumi game that apparently uses train cards.
@therealgamer The PSV has third-party support. The Wii U doesn't.
Niche third-party support, yes, but the PSV actually has more retail exclusives this year than the Wii U did for the past two years. Past three, if you look at Japan-only titled.
@Raylax I have to say that a portly Italian plumber being the representative of Japan on the world stage is a rather amusing coincidence. There's also how he'd probably win the high jump with ease if he existed in our plane, too.
@LegendOfPokemon It's easier to put together, so I imagine it has. There's also an obvious plus in covering Japan-only news - lots of Japan-only titles tend to get buried and never reported on here in the West.
@Whopper744 It actually appears to be an attempt to nerf Mega Pokémon. You can either use a Z Move, or Mega Evolve - but you can probably Mega Evolve one and use a Z Move with another in a single battle.
@GoldenGamer88 I doubt that more than half the cities/towns in the game are just there. Besides, four trials for four islands is simply too few - trial leaders for each island would be redundant if grand kahunas exist.
@Mainsaile "He did lament that this newest title doesn't feature any sea or air voyage any more, limiting the game to a narrower scope---" My heart shattered into three-hundred sixty-seven and seven-nineteenth pieces when I read this. Though, that said, I'd be willing to sacrifice a half-baked overworld for more focused and more expansive labyrinths.
@DekersHekers Try bringing an air horn with you. They're very effective at scattering flocks of birds, raccoons, and people staring down at their phones.
@shaneoh I can only hope for Kantai Collection to catch fire here in the west. It would be nice to see girls named "Shimakaze" or "Prinz Eugen" get somewhat common over the span of a few years.
Roselia is like Rosalia, but spelled weirdly, so it's fine. Eevee is weird, but I bet that "Ibi" is a name in some Asian and African cultures, so it's fine.
Now, I take considerable offense over naming a child "Kum" spelled backwards.
@SakuraHaruka I forgot about last week, I thought OR/AS sold just ~2400, it sold ~4100. Still, the past two weeks are up sharply over what OR/AS normally does.
Yokai Watch 3, though...I'm holding out hope that it'll settle at weekly sales of ~20k, so it could sell through its first print run by the time Monster Hunter Stories and Pokémon Sun/Moon come out.
NX seems to be at least on par with, or slightly more powerful than, Wii U. It makes sense, since: GBA is slightly more powerful than SNES/SFC NDS is slightly more powerful than N64 3DS is slightly more powerful than GCN n3DS is slightly more powerful than Wii

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Experiences Decline In Player Spending During The Month Of November
Good. Don't let IS become complacent and let them actually feel the pain for putting in yet another pair of Corrin alts, and yet another Camilla alt.
That and the ridiculous powercreep.

Disgaea 5, VOEZ, Deemo, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Super Bomberman R.

Breddy gud to be honest.

I'm surprised no one noticed OR/AS popping up out of nowhere. Pokémon Go effect in action.
Re: Multiple Sources Outline a Portable NX With Detachable Controllers, Including a 'Base Station' for TV
Battery life is my main concern, apart from the obvious no stereoscopic 3D and lack of backwards compatibility with 3DS.
Oddly enough, assuming an ARM architecture is used, 3DS emulation should be more than possible if the specs are in line with the Wii U.
Re: Multiple Sources Outline a Portable NX With Detachable Controllers, Including a 'Base Station' for TV
@kobashi100 720p at most, probably.
NX seems to be at least on par with, or slightly more powerful than, Wii U.
It makes sense, since:
GBA is slightly more powerful than SNES/SFC
NDS is slightly more powerful than N64
3DS is slightly more powerful than GCN
n3DS is slightly more powerful than Wii
