Oh, the review sounded more like a 5 or 6 or 7, even. The score aligns magically with my tastes instead.
I know this has an audience, though, I mean my tastes are niche-imcarnate. I still want an SRPG with flight sim and city-building mechanics, within an overwhelmingly huge grand strategy game filled with cute girls.
Doesn't XSEED also publish in Europe now? I mean, I saw what happened with SK2: Deep Crimson and that breast-slider DLC. There's no way, 100% of a 0%-chance that NoE would've published
...Nintendo of America will most likely butcher the game if they decide to dub over the Japanese songs, so please have dual-audio this time and don't charge us the Atlus tax.
Also screw you for not making this just Fire Emblem with demons in post-apocalyptic Tokyo, where the player is actually the mother of Masakado. In other words, a Hideo Kojima game.
@abe_hikura You captured what I was going to say...
I'm also fairly impressed with this, though. I'd imagine that the Plus accessory will provide a rather large advantage to players, considering it's a rather unobtrusive notification system.
@DarthKirby It appear to be a catalogue of the courses in Super Mario Maker, as well as codes to unlock them. It also appears to have some basics in level design down, too, as well as design documents for some levels in the very first Super Mario Bros. And, it feels like a Nintendo employee handbook, if you know what I mean, with the artwork and all.
@Giygas_95 I disagree. While a lot of 3D Land felt more phoned-on and easier than 3D World, the final boss battle wasn't. I enjoyed the 3D Land Final Boss battle more than what happened in 3D World.
I actually find the same complaint in both 3D Land and 3D World. They're both fun, both too short.
@bezerker99 Sorry, I was caught off-guard by your opinion, I didn't realize that you actually tried out the ones with time limits. Perhaps real-time strategy isn't your forte? @Soren I hear Nohr is actually a good, challenging FE game with varied objectives and such. Have you even played if/Fates yet? I like how they stripped out a lot of the RNG BS found in Awakening, so I'll be at least getting Nohr.
Woe be to my wallet, if Nintendo EAD Tokyo Division 2 manages to craft another galactic masterpiece of other*world*ly proposals. Such a game would land me to where the sun shines, as I joint my brothers on a super adventure with Mario.
@WaveBoy You probably mean that Nintendo doesn't like taking risks with the print runs. Pikmin 3 is hanging onto $60 and we're only two years off release.
Anyway, since I can't find a physical copy of Pikmin 3, here's to hoping that Pikmin 4 will be for U!
@jord I don't know. I can agree with Sunshine, but the two Galaxy games paved the way for 3D World, which captured the feeling of 2D Mario while having the benefits of the 3D space.
@Fath ... I'm starting to really regret watching that gameplay video, because I really want something on the level of Project Diva.
I'm fine with the chibi look - I've always wanted to get myself a Nendoroid, so having one digitally greet me on the home screen is a nice plus. In the same way, I could also live without those fancy PVs in the background. I'm fine with how the sound effects are constant whether you hit a note correctly or not, though that is a very big mark against the game - one I'm unsure as to exactly why the reviewer didn't mention so.
What I'm not fine with is the difficulty. Senbonzakura on Hard can still be cleared with ease - in my case, it's still very easy to S+ in both modes.
That said, I'm still going to get it, because what else is there on the 3DS? NoA screwed up with Rhythm Heaven Fever and it flopped in the west, so I'm seriously doubting if it's getting localized.
I'm not going to complain about this because I live near Japan, and Japanese players across all kinds of online games have less lag to me than other nationalities.
That said, they should just get good. The creator of Yuru Yuri got to A+99 a while back, pre-August update.
@ikki5 We'll get those tales titles, sure, but as PS Vita™ remasters! You know, despite the fact that Tales of the Abyss is the highest-selling handheld Tales title ever.
@sWiTcHeRoO Well, different viewpoints and all that.
I'm actually starting to get pissed off at people who supported SK, but not for the reasons you'd think. These kinds of games are pretty much designed to do better on Vita. Thus, the Vita gets games (not that I'd complain about this alone), and the 3DS gets less. When it comes to multiplats for the Japanese market, the 3DS gets shafted hard. Case in point: Conception II, despite Spike Chunsoft actually having worked on multiple 3/DS projects.
That, and the K-On! effect, made more powerful by the gaming market shrinking in Japan.
But, the audience being who they are? Nah, not a chance. Especially when there are dozens, if not hundreds, of "genders" out there, I'd say that's a different manifestation of the same problem.
@Chrizzel28 I understand your position, but you're really not doing yourself any favors to an outsider.
Before you judge me, read the rest of my comments.
@Damo Perhaps it is time to switch to a Famitsu-style multiple review system?
I don't know, I just want an excuse to push that. And, you know what they say, multiple review copies!
EDIT: @AlexOlney stated that the game was 60/40 gameplay:plot. You're not going to take away marks for how there's too much exposition? Now that I think about it, this should be the case, considering how he feels about the plot.
@JeffreyG SV is a 3D beat-em-up, right? I'd go by what @EdJericho said in this case.
@sWiTcHeRoO The series has its audience. That is all I have to say.
That said, I believe that it's obvious you haven't read about the Senran Kagura producer - I believe his name is Takaki or some sort - and how honest he generally is about his desires. I mean, if you saw his promotion for the π-play VR device, you'd notice that he isn't kidding at all.
That said, as much as I like him and how SK has turned out as a series - a respectable 400k+ copies, I believe - I don't like the K-On! effect it seems to have.
@AlexOlney I feel disappointed when you didn't catch the reference, but pay it no heed. I'm satisfied by the answers.
Just...two more questions. One of them is something that should be factored into every 3DS software review, anyway. 1. How much time did you spend on the review copy? Proof via the Activity Log software would be nice. 2. How is the 3D handled? Does it make things pop out? Does it attempt to set the action back an inch or two? Are the animated sequences 3D, like Lord of Magna?
I recognize that I may be imposing myself upon you, but I honestly think a lot of this should be mentioned in reviews. How much time the game is supposed to take to complete, how far the reviewer got into the game, and music and audio effects. Heck, I only got info on the VA - Japanese kept intact, I presume, going by your statement - by asking a tangentially related question.
@AlexOlney
A few questions:
1. How long is the game? How much of it is gameplay, and how much of it is plot?
2. How far did you get into the game?
3. How good is the plot? The review for Burst mentions a good plot, but was there any character development, etc?
3.14. Life or Hometown?
4. How good is the music?
Okay, maybe not. But I'll probably still get the game, and the breast-slider DLC. If I have enough money and/or I bother to uninstall and reinstall Ironhax.
@Captain_Gonru I reserve judgement for whether a game can survive the transition from game to pure story for its JRPG adaptation, if any, and if it doesn't have heavy VN-style sequences between gameplay.
I also see where you're coming from, but you need to ease me into it, you know? Like, use a JRPG with a good story as the hook for a pure story title.
@JaxonH A JRPG is actually the closest I'll take to a full-on story-based game any day. See: Super Mario RPG.
Though, that said, considering SMT IV, I really wanted Fire Emblem with demons... I'll take Persona #FE, though, considering we're not getting Persona 5.
@JaxonH Actually, VNs would really fit FE in general, considering that we already have VN-style sequences and Fates is a massive tease for player choice.
@JaxonH Okay, I accidentally ended up implying that FE isn't heavy on story. I thought people wouldn't take that away from my statement considering how I wanted a VN on FE...
@Captain_Gonru I should've worded it better. I was trying to say that a game that is all story won't hold up in my eyes. It has to at least have some sort of gameplay from the franchise it takes away from.
@Captain_Gonru Eesh, there's no way I'd want one of those narrative-focused titles based on a Nintendo franchise.
I mean, I want a visual novel based around Fire Emblem if/Fates and its original script, of course, but I honestly doubt that they can pull something good off with a franchise that isn't necessarily heavy on story.

It's interesting.
Re: Video: New Hyrule Warriors Legends Trailer Shows Off Toon Link And Tetra, Confirms Japanese Launch Date
@russellohh @Spoony_Tech BOXBOY! and Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS come to mind, too.
Every 3DS Warriors title has included 3D, there's no reason this game couldn't.
Re: Review: Year Walk (Wii U eShop)
I might be sold on this.
The keyword is might.
I'm still seeing if I could get either a $50 eShop card or Super Mario Maker, and I'm leaning toward the former.
Re: Weirdness: Japanese Company Wants To Bring NES Games To Smartphones Via A Tiny Cartridge
@Damo It would've been nice if it did otherwise, though.
I guess it pretty much won't support Windows Phone, then.
Re: Weirdness: Japanese Company Wants To Bring NES Games To Smartphones Via A Tiny Cartridge
I like it, but it ultimately may not end up working.
I know, I know, three or more platforms to support, certain OS not allowing direct installation of applications, etc.
But it's nice to finally have a method for physical purchases on mobile.
Re: Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions Headed To The UK In December
Hmm, so lots and lots of battle themes? Go Ichinose, Hitomi Sato and Shota Kageyama need recognition too!
Junichi Masuda typically handles the battle themes in the series post-Gen I, of course.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Challenge With Super Mario's 2D Future
@Minotaurgamer I hate to break it to you, but one of the reasons Mario has been doing so well on the Wii U is the bundles.
NSMBU+NSLU and 3D World are the only two bundles I've seen that area constant in the Wii U landscape.

Which game did you play? I won't be surprised if it's the second - the one with no time limits and is geared for exploration.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Wants to Produce Another Super Mario Galaxy, But is Waiting for the Right Opportunity
I'm fine with 3D Wolrd. It's a nice, comfy game for when you relax.
But, I recently started to listen to the Galaxy and Galaxy 2 OSTs (thanks to Iwata Asks), and I was blown away by how fantastic they were.
No doubt about it, I better pick up both Galaxy games!

Simply amazing.
