@mlt I actually think your description is perfect. A video game that knows and embraces the fact that it’s a video game. I consider Kirby Air Riders a “Gamey” kind of game. Or any Sakurai directed game, really. They are games that are designed with core mechanics first, a “hook” that defines the entire experience that is expanded upon in various ways.

I wonder if Nintendo is testing the waters to see how the performance of a Spotify release compares to Nintendo Music. Or maybe this is just a one time deal strictly for the 40th anniversary. Who knows?

I genuinely don't understand what there is to fix. The game looks and runs buttery smooth and it's super sharp in 4K. I feel like people are tweaking a bit on this one...

Gonna hold out for a Switch 2 patch on this one. And honestly, I'm already playing a game where you build a town from the ground up and forge friendships. It's called Pokopia.

And additionally, I have ANOTHER game where you build a town from the ground up and forge friendships in my backlog called Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma.

And yeah they're different games but it's a similar hook and I feel like I would burn out if I added one more to the list. So I'm using a potential Switch 2 upgrade as an excuse to hold off on it lol.

Look...I'm gonna say it. The Switch 2 is a much better experience as an all-digital console. Between cartridges not being enough most third party games, and forcing them to be Game Keycards, portability and faster load times, digital is the absolute future of gaming.

It has been this way since forever on PC, it's time to face facts that physical media just isn't worth the hassle and cost anymore.

Gotta say, I’m really getting tired of the “This game isn’t as good as 8” and “I hate the Intermission laps” comments.

Guys, we get it. You don’t have to bring it up literally every single time this game is mentioned. You don’t like it and prefer 8. That’s fine. Go back to 8 then. Just stop being such a wet blanket every single time the new game gets an update.

I love the open world. I love the intermissions. I love the P-Switch missions. I love the new movement options that really opens the game up. And I love the new online lobby. None of these are featured in 8. This game is a breath of fresh air after over a decade of playing the same game. Some of us actually prefer playing the new game believe it or not. So let it go already and go back to the old game if you prefer it. It’s been several months now. You need to move on.

@rvcolem1 No. The intermissions are fun, give a ton of variety and the game its identity. We don’t need a Mario Kart 8.5.

@Kiyata 48 tracks with multiple routes that can interconnect with each other…it’s far bigger in ambition and scope.

Also, The Booster Course pass doesn’t count because those tracks were cheaply ported from Mario Kart Tour with the bare minimum amount of effort. It artificially inflates the track count. You fail to realize that MK8 had the same amount of courses at launch and that World has many years to grow and receive additional content.

@hcfwesker It's consistently on the charts so yes...it's a system seller. People are obviously buying it outside of the bundle. The vocal minority of "backlash" you're referring to is just that.

@BLK_4EVER I say this genuinely and I'm really not trying to be condescending here but if 3D Mario and Smash is all that interests you, I beg you to expand your horizons. Because this console offers a lot. I'm practically buried in a backlog right now because I have too many games to play on Switch 2 alone.

It’s not a scam. A scam is deceptive and dishonest. It’s meant to trick people. Last time I checked, having a label on the front of the box stating it’s a GKC while also providing a website for more information is the farthest thing from a scam it could be. Nintendo is very upfront with this.

@Sonicka If you have the base game, you'll need to spend the extra $20 to upgrade regardless. Either you buy the game for $80 with $20 worth of DLC included, or download the DLC separately for $20

$20 DLC packs are nothing new for Nintendo, they've had that pricing scheme for awhile now.

I feel like nobody here is watching the actual overview trailer. There's more than just minigames, we're also getting new Toad challenges, powerups, Koopaling bosses and Rosalina as a playable character. How is that not worth $20? You are all so confusing.

@KevinP I love how you can literally apply your entire comment to yourself considering you're the actual minority here. The Switch 2 continues to sell incredibly well and dominates the charts. The majority of this market love this console and its software. You'd do well to raise your eyebrows a bit and observe a larger world around you than what's right in front of your face. You're probably the kind of person to whine about modern Pokemon but then are shocked to learn that the latest game broke 10 million copies in a week. You are legitimately removed from reality. Take your own advice...

Additionally, if you honestly believe there aren't enough quality games on the platform, you're just objectively wrong. Maybe play more than just Mario Kart and Donkey Kong and you'd know that. I'm certainly playing more than just those games. Need a recommendation?

@KevinP Again...if you've never played the game and don't know what this means for fans of the game then no...no you can't have an opinion. They absolutely have delivered on quality and you would know that if you actually played it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this upgrade and there's nothing wrong with Nintendo wanting $5 for it.

If you haven't played the game, you don't actually want to have an opinion, you just want attention.

@KevinP If you don't have an opinion on the game, then how can you have an opinion on whether or not the upgrade is worth $5? As someone who will be playing this game for hundreds of hours, the 4K 60 fps upgrade was an absolute must and my $5 was well spent.

@Rice Disagreement is bait? Lol come on now. I played it for hours last night with no issues and got through Chapter 5. This game looks incredible in 4K and Handheld is a vast improvement. The textures can shimmer and wobble but it's a $5 upgrade. It does what it needs to well. You can disagree with me if you want, but my opinion is anything but bait.

Man, I gotta say....people are being WAY too whiny about this. The upgrade is completely fine. Super sharp in Docked mode and the 60 fps looks great in handheld. I legit do not see the problem with it, I played it for hours last night and fully enjoyed it. Who cares if textures shimmer or wobble? The game looks better than it ever has.

Say what you want about it being paid but it's $5. Are you really going to throw a fit over $5? People need to grow up.

I reeeeeally wish this didn't essentially cost money to properly play. I'd opt for the cardboard version but $24,99 for cardboard feels abusrd...If it was $15, that would be much more ideal.

@Spider-Kev Nah. XC2 is way better, way more readable and satisfying to play than XC1 ever was. XC1's battle system was incredibly rough until it got updated in the Definitive Edition.

The strong vibration was a bug and they’re toning it down? Oh come on man, I really liked it! I was actually fishing more often because of how satisfying it felt! This is so lame. Modern Nintendo controller vibration is too weak, I hardly notice it!

Oh man, I forgot this was coming out! I need to finish FF VII Remake before diving into another JRPG. I wouldn't dare try doing both at once.

I really enjoyed what I played of Ys VIII on PS4. Never had the chance to finish it. So I'm very much looking forward to this.

I'm surprised you guys aren't updating this article with the other posters that are being released. We got amazing looking ones with Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Rosalina too.
