@Liam_Doolan Hey Liam, why isn't "It's on my Christmas list" an option for this poll? That's what a lot of people are probably doing since this is December. It's what I'm doing at least.
How the heck is Yacht Clubs struggling after all of the money they made off of Shovel Knight? Are they serious? With how many copies the game has sold across all platforms, laying off staff is inexcusable. Sounds like scammy mismanagement to me.
@rvcolem1 My excitement around Gamechat immediately deflated when I realized that you can't chat with randoms. Now, I just have this useless button on my JoyCon 2 because none of my friends currently own a Switch 2.
This just convinces me that the UK has poor taste in video games. They'll go wild about FIFA, a regurgitated slop franchise and will sleep on super fun and creative games like this. NintendoLife is the outlier.
@Serpenterror Why does being a spin off make it lesser? That makes no sense. Do you never buy Mario Kart? Mario Sports games? Hyrule Warriors? Smash Bros? You’re acting as if spin offs inherently have less content but this game has so much to do in it. I implore you to expand your horizons
Sounds like a solid game with a solid score! I already have the game preordered and ready to go! I’m just super excited to delve into a Sakurai passion project, the man and his team make such addicting, simple yet deep video games that have high replayability and focus on fun. They just have a certain… je ne sais quoi to them.
If this game didn’t gel with you during the Global Test ride, PLEASE just give it time to simmer. As the review states, there is a learning curve despite the fact the game only uses three buttons. It’s truly fun when you master its chaos.
@OmnitronVariant This is what we call having bad taste. You’ll eat up Mario Kart but won’t give true Chaos a chance? Cowards. Unenlightened cowards. I scoff at your narrow minded Worldview. Scoff I say!
@Hawkes142 ...Were we playing the same game? How is Air Riders now fast enough for you? City Trial is so insane, sometimes I have no clue what's even going on. It's WAY faster than the original.
The amount of people who are saying "Not Interested" is so depressing. I don't want to hear complaints about incomplete or overpriced games. This game has so much content packed into it and is complete on release. And it's damn good. But sure, go ahead and write it off. You all who answered that, lack taste.
Sometimes I feel like some of you don't even like video games if you're not willing to give games like this a shot.
I've preordered and bought digitally. If you somehow get the sense to change your minds, you can find me in City Trial.
Wow, I love the blatantly pathetic attempt to promote your new Digital Foundry site with a piece of hardware that has absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo because this system is....cube shaped? Come on guys....this ain't it.
@Ultimapunch Fear mongering at its finest. Game prices go up every other generation and gaming has always been an expensive luxury hobby. And comparatively, they're cheaper than they were in the SNES/N64 era.
Not sure why you brought up the secondhand market. They're just as bad, if not, worse since the games are used and are barely cheaper. And don't even get me started on the Retro Market. It's criminally overpriced.
And again, every game needs an update these dats so what you buy physically is NOT going to be the game you get 20 years down the line after the Switch 2 is long obsolete. Then you throw in things like DLC and it gets even more complicated. You don't just simply plug in a game and play anymore, it hasn't been that way since 2011 before the Wii U.
I bet the same people getting bent out of shape about this will happily go to steam and download their digital game.
Seriously, you guys need to get over it. Digital is the future. Most games aren't even complete in box anymore and require at least SOME sort of download.
You're fighting a losing battle. Just accept it and move on.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Ironic you talk about Nintendo being out of touch when F-Zero has lost all relevancy outside of Smash. Nobody knows who Captain Falcon is.
@topsekret Thanks! I'm happy to report that I'm really enjoying it so far! Almost through the Loguetown Arc at the end of the East Blue Saga. Episode 51 of 1149. I'm really enjoying the world building and character development a ton, especially Nami during the Arlong Park arc.
I don't really have a goal of when to finish this in mind, I'm just trying to watch when I can and enjoy the ride. I'm in it for the long haul, so I'm trying not to concern myself with how much I have left.
There's a quote that I watched from a YouTube video that convinced me to try to climb this mountain.
"1,000+ episodes may seem impossible when you're starting out, but when you finally catch up, and you get to know these characters and their world, you'll be wishing you had 1,000 more with them."
So, it's about the Journey, not the Destination for me!
Virtual Console is an overrated format and NSO is better in every respect. The Netflix format works much better for Retro games, NOBODY is purchasing even half of the NSO catalogue on their own. People who gas it up need a reality check.
I'm usually not one to take pride in someone's struggle but Randy Pitchford being forced to actually make an acceptable game and eat his own words is SO satisfying.
Feel bad for the devs though. But at least they're getting extra hours I guess? Hope they're not being crunched too hard.
Sigh. Look, I know story is never the focus of this series but my God, I just wish there was some sort of continuity. I do hope that eventually, Nintendo ditches their aversion to stories and world building and dabbles a little more into it. Maybe once all of the old management retires we'll have some consistency.
@Lizuka No, this is stupid. If the game's vision doesn't fit an easy mode, it shouldn't have it. I say this as someone who knows this game isn't for me. I hate stupidly difficult games but I will never tell someone they're wrong for enjoying them or telling the developer to make the game easier. That's just self entitlement. You think it's too hard? That's okay. But stay in your lane.
I would say it's good. I am content with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong and have also been playing through Tears of the Kingdom again. It's ALMOST an 8 for me but I just wish we had a little bit more. If the backwards compatibility automatically upscaled Switch 1 games to a higher resolution and frame rate, it would be much higher.

Re: Rolling Stone's GOTY List Shows A Whole Lot Of Love For One Nintendo Mascot
@TimelessJubilee MKW is leagues better than MK8...Half of MK8's content is sloppily slapped together from a mobile port. You can sit down.

Seeing as how the BASE PS4 version runs at 60 fps, the fact that this version doesn't is completely unacceptable. Lazy optimization. DO NOT buy this.
