@KevinP I love how you can literally apply your entire comment to yourself considering you're the actual minority here. The Switch 2 continues to sell incredibly well and dominates the charts. The majority of this market love this console and its software. You'd do well to raise your eyebrows a bit and observe a larger world around you than what's right in front of your face. You're probably the kind of person to whine about modern Pokemon but then are shocked to learn that the latest game broke 10 million copies in a week. You are legitimately removed from reality. Take your own advice...
Additionally, if you honestly believe there aren't enough quality games on the platform, you're just objectively wrong. Maybe play more than just Mario Kart and Donkey Kong and you'd know that. I'm certainly playing more than just those games. Need a recommendation?
It's really hard to take you seriously since you insisting on having an opinion on something you haven't even played. You can't use it in your "bigger picture" if you haven't experienced it yourself. You're just full of it. Give it up dude, it's embarrassing.
@KevinP Again...if you've never played the game and don't know what this means for fans of the game then no...no you can't have an opinion. They absolutely have delivered on quality and you would know that if you actually played it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this upgrade and there's nothing wrong with Nintendo wanting $5 for it.
If you haven't played the game, you don't actually want to have an opinion, you just want attention.
@KevinP If you don't have an opinion on the game, then how can you have an opinion on whether or not the upgrade is worth $5? As someone who will be playing this game for hundreds of hours, the 4K 60 fps upgrade was an absolute must and my $5 was well spent.
It's $5. It's a brainless purchase and absolutely not worth the whining and moaning these complainers keep droning on about.
@Rice Disagreement is bait? Lol come on now. I played it for hours last night with no issues and got through Chapter 5. This game looks incredible in 4K and Handheld is a vast improvement. The textures can shimmer and wobble but it's a $5 upgrade. It does what it needs to well. You can disagree with me if you want, but my opinion is anything but bait.
Man, I gotta say....people are being WAY too whiny about this. The upgrade is completely fine. Super sharp in Docked mode and the 60 fps looks great in handheld. I legit do not see the problem with it, I played it for hours last night and fully enjoyed it. Who cares if textures shimmer or wobble? The game looks better than it ever has.
Say what you want about it being paid but it's $5. Are you really going to throw a fit over $5? People need to grow up.
I reeeeeally wish this didn't essentially cost money to properly play. I'd opt for the cardboard version but $24,99 for cardboard feels abusrd...If it was $15, that would be much more ideal.
@Spider-Kev Nah. XC2 is way better, way more readable and satisfying to play than XC1 ever was. XC1's battle system was incredibly rough until it got updated in the Definitive Edition.
@PessitheMystic YOU WILL NOT HAMPER MY HYPE FOR THIS. I have been waiting on this for ALMOST A YEAR. This is one of my favorite games EVER made and I will scream about it FROM THE CLOUDS OF ELYSIUM ITSELF! CRINGE ALL YOU WANT! THIS IS MY MOMENT!!! I'VE WON!!
YEEEEEEEEEES! FINALLY! MY PATIENCE! MY UNWAVERING PATIENCE HAS BEEN REWARDED!!!!!

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
EDIT: YO I JUST REMEMBERED PAPER MARIO TTYD HAD A 60 FPS MODE IN ITS CODE. DO THAT NEXT! MAKE MY LIFE COMPLETE!!!
The strong vibration was a bug and they’re toning it down? Oh come on man, I really liked it! I was actually fishing more often because of how satisfying it felt! This is so lame. Modern Nintendo controller vibration is too weak, I hardly notice it!
I'm surprised you guys aren't updating this article with the other posters that are being released. We got amazing looking ones with Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Rosalina too.
It's utterly insane and borderline inexcusable that a pixel based 8-bit game is taking this long to get a release date. Come on now, what are we doing here?
@SalvorHardin Ahh gotcha. That clarifies things. I gotta say, I really love how good DLSS looks in handheld mode but I wonder what the internal resolution of Rebirth is in Handheld.
@Sindayl What? The game absolutely uses DLSS. It's 720p internally, but DLSS boosts it to 1080p. Check out Digital Foundry's article on it.
Idk why Nintendolife is calling it a drop from remake though, I'm very certain Remake operates the same way. Unless I'm misunderstanding something? Are we talking Docked or Handheld?
@Exerion76 This opinion will never make sense to me. "Mario" and "Budget Game" are rarely, if ever, in the same sentence. Disney does not provide budget options for theme park tickets. Apple doesn't sell budget ear buds. Both are considered to be premium items and are as such, priced accordingly. Mario is no different, he's Nintendo''s Mickey Mouse. People buy Mario games FOR Mario. And the reason why they keep setting Mario games at $60-$70 and even $80, is because Mario will sell extremely well at those prices. Expecting "budget games" from this franchise will always lead you to disappointment.
That being said of course, I will not be picking up this game because its single player content sucks and I have no interest in online play. But the price isn't the issue for me.
Yup, just as I thought. A bare bones single player campaign and an over reliance on online play with dumb, one note gimmicks thrown in to justify its existence. I'm sick and tired of Mario Sports games being so lazy. I truly haven't enjoyed Mario Sports games as a whole since the Gamecube, with the exception of Strikers Charged on the Wii. These spin offs just don't have the same depth or oomph as they used to.
@Calufur If a dev can't hit 4k 60 FPS on PS5...that's just really bad optimization at this point. How strong does hardware need to be to run games at 4K 60 fps consistently? Sounds like devs need to sort out their priorities. I'm sick of these moving goalposts.
If Clair Obscur Expedition 33 gets a port, I may just double dip. Already beat it on PC, but Sandfall is such a wonderful team that I'd want to buy it again even if it's just to support their future endeavors.
I'm not into Souls games but I'm willing to hear out what Duskbloods has to offer. Supporting Nintendo exclusives is a huge deal for me.
And Metaphor ReFantazio was fun for a bit on PC, but i never got too far. I missed the vibe of Persona. But I'm willing to give it another go on a more convenient console.
@Waluigi451 Dude, for real. I love Persona 5 to death but I am so SICK of Persona 5. The worst part? I can't even buy Persona 6 on launch because they'll just come out with an updated edition years down the line with no upgrade path for vanilla version players. It's a waste of money. After getting burned with SMTV Vengeance, I won't be buying Day 1 Atlus games ever again. I don't trust them and refuse to support this archaic business model.
This is definitely a wait and see situation for me. I absolutely loathed Mario Tennis Aces and Golf Super Rush. Especially the former which I felt had a lot of unfair elements to it that made me rage quit the single player campaign and online wasnt much better. Both games also severely lacked content and felt half baked. I won't be burned a third time on blind faith alone.
@hcfwesker Would you believe me if I told you I still get lost? Right now I'm nowhere near Myles and he only gave general guidance, not specifically what to do. Last I left off, I stopped for the night because I kept going in circles with Vi-O-La. It's not so much "where" its "how". I just don't see the cues the game presents and I'm not well versed enough in Metroid to where I go "Oh, obviously the game wants you to do this, that's normal for the series." Unlike say Zelda, where a cracked rock might cue me in on a way to progress.
Mock me if you want, But I think this actually illustrates the discrepancy between fans of the series and the casuals and the challenge Nintendo faces when making these games.
@MetroidPrime64 You seem like a hardcore Metroid fan based off of your pfp. I'm just a casual fan, I've only played Super Metroid, Dread and a little of Prime 3. (I'm a bit all over the place, I know.)
I've played Metroid Prime 4 for a few hours, I just got the Vi-O-La bike. And I think the game is...good? Visuals are absolutely gorgeous and I love the mouse controls for Switch 2.
My one critique is the save system, you can't just save at any point. It feels so archaic to not just be able to save whenever I want to. And there isn't a lot of indication as to how to progress, I wish there was a sort of hint system or objective tracker. The direction feels very unclear. But those are my only personal complaints thus far.
Why is this game seen as a disappointment to hardcore Metroid fans?
@Nalverus Believe it or not, I actually read through your whole comment to hear your point out.
Item distribution has always been random and unfair. Staying back to get better items or optimizing the track to know when to strike with a certain item is not new to the series whatsoever. The reason why you're struggling with it is because you're probably not using the advanced movement system. Getting good at World requires you to learn how the to trick effectively to give yourself a good enough lead to where items can't stop you. (Most of the time, it's still Mario Kart after all.)
And that's what the Open world is for. Giving you a huge sandbox to play around with movement tech and practicing your tricks and course shortcuts by driving around freely and doing challenges. The Wall riding challenges in particular made me good at wall riding and helped me in races. Everything you learn by doing in free roam can directly applied to online racing, which makes you a better player.
That and the Missions are fun and when you need a break from all of the hectic racing, you can drive around to your hearts content and vibe to the immaculate 200+ song soundtrack.
Mario Kart World is as hectic and party friendly as its always been. There's nothing stopping you from firing up four player splitscreen and giving everyone a controller. The core of Mario Kart is still there. If anything, they don't go far enough with the Open World because I was hoping "drive anywhere" meant figuring out optimal routes between tracks by driving wherever you wanted.
The problem is that it actually tried to do something different instead of just being Mario Kart 8.1. Which unfortunately, I think where comments like yours comes from. You're not enjoying it because you're playing with old tactics instead of learning and trying new ones. Personally, after a decade of being burned out on Mario Kart 8, I'm very happy to have a new game that introduces something that actually asks more of you than just drifting and spamming the trick button.
@Smithicus MKW builds upon what came before and is better than MK8 for it. Just because you don't understand the trick system and wall grinding doesn't mean the game isn't good. Your opinion is factually wrong.
@Not_Soos Nah. Mario Kart is as addicting and fun as ever. The new trick system and rail grinding give the game way more depth than previous entries and the open world is just icing on the cake. I think the open world could stand to offer better rewards than just stickers but exploring it is still fun, allows you to practice routes and is a great way to chill out after hectic races. And Knockout Tour is a fantastic addition.
Sonic Racing on the other hand is fun and offers great novelties but isn't nearly as well designed as MKW. It's a great arcade racer but it simply can't compete. The sales numbers are evidence of that.
@Smithicus Calling Mario Kart "slop" is wild. Sega wishes it had the talent to make a game as tightly controlled, masterfully designed and as timeless as Mario Kart.
This is my first Final Fantasy. I've seen bits and pieces of the series over the years but due to it being a mostly Playstation-based series, I kind of skipped over it in favor of games like Dragon Quest and Xenoblade.
And I have to say...it's really, REALLY good. I'm digging the setting, the camaraderie of Avalanche, the visuals are SO clean and the MUSIC is SO good. I'm hooked and locked in. Currently in Chapter 7.
As for the quality of the Switch 2 port. I am absolutely floored. This game is gorgeous and while the 30 fps is a bit of a bummer, it's a rock solid 30fps and the game's graphics engine lends itself really well to it. It's stunning in docked mode and even more impressive in handheld mode with DLSS. I truly feel the technical jump from Switch 1 to Switch 2 here. Frame rate aside, this port does NOT feel compromised at all, it feels like a complete experience and does the game justice. It truly feels like a PS4 Pro game in my hands.
I do hope they find a way to support a 40 fps performance mode because that would be an excellent boost to pump it up just a bit more.
EDIT: ALSO It's only $40 which is what convinced me to impulse buy it. I'm stunned a game of this fidelity costs as much as a retail 3DS game. I also got the early purchase edition which includes a copy of the original FF7. I don't think I'll play it any time soon but that felt like such a good deal. Very pro consumer. Props to Square Enix on this one, for real.
I give it an 8. I really like what I saw but I was surprised at the lack of Switch 2 features. I hope they're in there. Considering the designing aspect, and the fact you can drag Miis around the Island, I feel like Mouse Mode would be a perfect fit for this game.
@AlfredMops2nd Freedom of speech does not excuse bigotry and hate. Gay people should not be subjects of your opinion, they are people and should be treated equally.
@jackwire Bigotry and discrimination are not the hill you want to die on. He's allowed to have his views but that doesn't mean we can't condemn him for it. Belittling the LBGT community is not okay.
@ThatOnePenguin The fact that this is the first comment makes me sad. Why do you have to be like that man? LGBT and Non-binary people exist. They aren't woke, they're real. Inclusion is a good thing. You were better off keeping your comments to yourself.
PSA: You don't need to comment that you're not interested in this game. We don't need your negativity. Just scroll and move on. Or actually try it instead of being so close-minded.
@8bit-Man Nah. It's actually very refreshing to have a game 100% complete upon release. Such a rare occurrence nowadays. I also think City Trial has so much going on that the lack of map variety is actually a great benefit for me. I don't have to optimize several different maps, just one.
@Anti-Matter At least you're willing to admit to cheating, even if you don't acknowledge it yourself. Whatever my guy. You're only robbing yourself of the experience.
@Anti-Matter Efficiency? Time travel all you like but I wish you would just be honest. You're cheating. And completely missing the point of the game. I miss when the series punished players like you by having villagers move out without saying goodbye.
Why do these third party controllers NEVER try to put in HD rumble, NFC support or the C Button? I will literally never buy them if they can't provide parity to Nintendo's first party efforts. They're just not worth it.

@FrenchVaniIIuxe Aside from making one of the characters less fan-servicey, how else has it been censored?
Re: Japanese Charts: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Emerges Victorious In A Quiet Week
Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Nintendo Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Moves In On Switch 1 This April
@ThatOnePenguin The fact that this is the first comment makes me sad. Why do you have to be like that man? LGBT and Non-binary people exist. They aren't woke, they're real. Inclusion is a good thing. You were better off keeping your comments to yourself.
Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Nintendo Direct Announced For Thursday, 29th January
PSA: You don't need to comment that you're not interested in this game. We don't need your negativity. Just scroll and move on. Or actually try it instead of being so close-minded.
Re: Kirby Air Riders Is Getting Its First Update Of 2026 "Soon"
@8bit-Man Nah. It's actually very refreshing to have a game 100% complete upon release. Such a rare occurrence nowadays. I also think City Trial has so much going on that the lack of map variety is actually a great benefit for me. I don't have to optimize several different maps, just one.
Re: Video: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2 & Switch)
@Anti-Matter At least you're willing to admit to cheating, even if you don't acknowledge it yourself. Whatever my guy. You're only robbing yourself of the experience.
Re: Video: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2 & Switch)
@Anti-Matter Efficiency? Time travel all you like but I wish you would just be honest. You're cheating. And completely missing the point of the game. I miss when the series punished players like you by having villagers move out without saying goodbye.
Re: Review: Gulikit TT Pro / TT Max Controllers For Switch 1 & 2 - The New Standard For Third-Party Pads
Why do these third party controllers NEVER try to put in HD rumble, NFC support or the C Button? I will literally never buy them if they can't provide parity to Nintendo's first party efforts. They're just not worth it.
