Virtual Console is an overrated format and NSO is better in every respect. The Netflix format works much better for Retro games, NOBODY is purchasing even half of the NSO catalogue on their own. People who gas it up need a reality check.
I'm usually not one to take pride in someone's struggle but Randy Pitchford being forced to actually make an acceptable game and eat his own words is SO satisfying.
Feel bad for the devs though. But at least they're getting extra hours I guess? Hope they're not being crunched too hard.
Sigh. Look, I know story is never the focus of this series but my God, I just wish there was some sort of continuity. I do hope that eventually, Nintendo ditches their aversion to stories and world building and dabbles a little more into it. Maybe once all of the old management retires we'll have some consistency.
@Lizuka No, this is stupid. If the game's vision doesn't fit an easy mode, it shouldn't have it. I say this as someone who knows this game isn't for me. I hate stupidly difficult games but I will never tell someone they're wrong for enjoying them or telling the developer to make the game easier. That's just self entitlement. You think it's too hard? That's okay. But stay in your lane.
I would say it's good. I am content with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong and have also been playing through Tears of the Kingdom again. It's ALMOST an 8 for me but I just wish we had a little bit more. If the backwards compatibility automatically upscaled Switch 1 games to a higher resolution and frame rate, it would be much higher.
@OpheliaDynamight They act as if even IF a game's files are fully on a cart that it's the best experience. Almost every game in existence these days requires an update or has DLC. You will rarely if ever, get the full, complete game on the cartridge. The Digital aspect of games cannot be avoided anymore.
@Suketoudara How is she a girl boss? She literally starts out with zero confidence and gains her bravery over the course of the game. She's terrified when you first find her. And she relies heavily on DK to help her, and DK needs her singing abilities for the Bananza abilities. They're partners. A girl boss is a female character who is practically flawless and is good at everything. Pauline is NOT that in the slightest.
Also her dialog at the Getaways is the most genuinely the most charming part about the game.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 NEEDS to be 60 FPS to work. The reaction time required for a lot of attacks would be far more difficult at 30 or even 40 fps. It's pretty frame perfect a lot of the time. I couldn't imagine beating some of the game's super bosses at half the frame rate.
@Roger_Brazil Ah yes, a game that is absolutely not related to Mario Kart World, does not play at all like Mario Kart World and doesn't even feature Mario characters could be DLC for Mario Kart World.
Did you even think your statement through? Is Mario Kart the only racing game allowed to exist in your opinion? Because that's really dumb if so.
City Trial alone sets this worlds apart for Mario Kart World. Get real.
I respect Nintendo for still making experimental games like this, but this isn't my cup of tea. The gameplay looks very basic, the graphics aren't much to look at and I'm just not into sports games unless they have the word Wii in front of them. For $20 you could do a whole lot worse I guess but nothing I've seen really speaks to me.
This feels like ARMS where they'll support it out the gate but then quickly fizzle out. I don't see this game having any sort of longevity and it probably won't be talked about after this year. I would be pleasantly surprised if they proved me wrong though. Maybe the Marketing just sucks? Guess we'll wait and see.
People are quick to judge but you really can't blame Nintendo for being cautious as to who can use their IP.
You can say "It's for Charity!" all you want but what is the history of this specific charity? Are they a clean organization? Do they actually deliver on what they promise? Vetting charities to ensure the IP is used properly and the proceeds actually go to a good cause is NOT a bad thing.
They didn't even ask for permission to use the games so honestly, that's on them.
@Krambo42 Ahh gotcha. I'm pretty new to CarPlay so I was wondering what you meant. That makes sense. Normally I just put the "Top Nintendo Music Tracks" playlist on shuffle and don't really think about it.
I'm surprised America and Europe outsold Japan. I thought Japan was obsessed with the Switch? I figured they'd go crazy over it. Should we be concerned about that?
@Thomystic I appreciate the concern but honestly, I think it's on me for my comment sounding condescending. I can see how someone can read it and assume that I'm dogging on Atari because I only bring up the more negative things. It wasn't my intent, but I think I could've worded myself better lol.
@Zeebor15 Honestly, I just didn't pay attention to Atari. I only assumed they were a graveyard of Retro rereleases, so I always write them off. I had no idea they were doing more than just that. Which I guess is on me. But I'll be sure to do so going forward.
@ShieldHero What has Atari done recently? Genuinely asking. Every time I hear about them, it's either a Vaporware Kickstarter Project or a Retro compilation.
@ArcticEcho Hell yeah, you hit the nail on the head there. Not every game needs to be this deep experience, some can just be fun pick up and play experiences. I'm not sure what to expect for this game but I fully trust Sakurai is putting his all into it. Kirby is his baby after all.
God I love these games. Guys if you've never heard of them, the AI Somnium File games are masterworks of amazing storytelling and puzzle solving. I absolutely adore this series.
The first game is a gem and I recommend starting there just so you get a sense of everyone. it has an incredible strong narrative and an absolutely curve ball of a twist. It also features multiple routes so there's plenty of character exploration throughout.
The second game Nirvana Initiative is a delightful follow up but it's unfortunately one of those cases where a sequel is afraid to be a sequel. They dumbed down Date's character for instance because exploring him further would require spoiling the first game. And the case in this game is completely unrelated to the case in the second. But this is still a fantastic game that I absolutely recommend. Despite its flaws, it stands strong on its own two feet.
Seriously, give these games a try. They are a WILD ride.
Man, the Air Ride hate in this thread is disappointing. I loved the original game's simplicity and how arcade-like it felt. It was a game for when you wanted quick, thrilling action. And of course, City Trial was brilliant. The fact the vocal critics of this game don't seem to understand that is just sad.
@Miu Modding shouldn't be allowed either as modding clearly leads to piracy and in worse cases, hacking. I don't want my Mario Kart room jacked up because some jerk decided to hack his game.
"Fans" complaining about not being able to pirate Nintendo games on their Switch is peak hilarity. Emulation is for preservation of old games, not duplicating and stealing current gen games still on shelves.
Lmao this is absolutely on the developer. Polish your game before you release it, it's not a difficult concept. Plenty of Indie devs can publish their games just fine it seems. In fact, it's actually too easy to do when you get the sheer of volume of garbage shovelware that's present on the eShop.
Says more about them than it does Nintendo. I haven't heard of this game before but now I definitely won't be picking it up with the incredible amount of entitlement they're showing.
@mlt No, just make another Three Houses. Engage is Dogwater on all 3 fronts. I honestly don't understand how people believe its gameplay is superior. I vastly prefer the 3H Calendar and support system, the hate for it is ridiculous.
This Battle mode is CHEEKS dude, they didn't even try. Only two modes? One of them being the worst mode from 8 Deluxe? No last man standing option for Balloon battle? The Battles take place on TRACKS AGAIN? And it doesn't even make use of the Free Roam Mode???
Nah dude, this is so lazy it's not even funny. They could've at least done like a Fortnite Style battle royale across the whole map but that would've bene too much fun I guess.
Disappointing, but fine I guess. Seems like Nintendo is set in their ways on this one. What I'm questioning is how the hell will Gamecube games on NSO work? I know Sunshine had some workarounds in the 3D All Stars pack, but surely they can't do the same kind of thing for every game, right?

Re: Review: EA SPORTS FC 26 (Switch 2) - A Fantastic Football Game, Once You're Used To The Frame Rate
Seeing as how the BASE PS4 version runs at 60 fps, the fact that this version doesn't is completely unacceptable. Lazy optimization. DO NOT buy this.
Re: Do Bananza And Odyssey Share The Same Pauline? Donkey Kong Dev Won't Confirm Anything
@N00BiSH I liked the story but canon wise it's a mess. I just want consistency.

@N00BiSH Banaza doesn't have that either so I'm not even sure you understand your own point here.
Re: Do Bananza And Odyssey Share The Same Pauline? Donkey Kong Dev Won't Confirm Anything
@N00BiSH ...Buddy that's the very definition of story and world building. You NEED canon to establish these things.

Re: Kirby Air Riders Zooms Onto Switch 2 This November
@_747_ You're missing out. Racing isn't even the main event tbh. Sakurai even says so himself. City Trial is where it's at baby!
