@AirElephant In fairness, Sony of America killed the Vita by refusing to market the system adequately, and keeping so many games exclusive to Japan. There's no value in getting a Vita now because it's fairly pricey for what it's worth, and the software lineup is nowhere as appealing as the Nintendo 3DS.
I suppose Nintendo wants to milk the 3DS cow till it's a corpse, but unlike the Wii U, third party developers are still supporting the 3DS to this day.
@NEStalgia But EA is not Nintendo so that's not the wisest comparison to make. It's easy to say that, but look at the outcome of Retro Studios and especially Monolith Soft.
Before Retro Studios, Rare was handling the Donkey Kong franchise whilst Metroid was developed internally as a handheld series. Rare was bought by Microsoft whilst Metroid was not n the highest development priority list for Nintendo. Once they gained Retro Studios as a subsidiary, both Metroid and Donkey Kong continued to be relevant to consumers through Retro.
Now where do I begin with Monolith Soft? The company was started by Tetsuya Takahashi, with funding by Namco as a response to Square treating Xenogears as a second fiddle project. Once the Xenosaga series no longer became profitable for Bandai Namco, they decided to give the majority shares to Nintendo because Bandai Namco no longer seen value in the company. Nintendo expanded Monolith Soft though Xenoblade Chronicles, and Nintendo seen enough value in Monolith Soft to open a second studio (the Kyoto studio) to expand their brand awareness. Monolith Soft wouldn't be as valued as it is now if it wasn't for Nintendo subsidising the company into the brand.
@MarcelRguez A means of transferring assets from one system to another, porting third party games to Nintendo systems, another developer team etc. There's a lot of potential this team can achieve if they become a part of Nintendo.
@AirElephant But judging from what Tantalus does, all they've been doing lately is Wii U ports. It's a mutual benefit for an acquisition to occur, Tantalus has easier access to Nintendo intellectual properties and their capital, whilst Nintendo has an in-house team to port their games.
@Turbo857 How is it "confused branding"? That's like saying that the 2DS confuses the 3DS brand because there's no 3D.
There's no purpose in designing a Switch Mini that's entirely identical to the regular Switch. It has to be a cost-effective alternative, otherwise there's no purpose for it in the market.
@FX102A True, but I think that's more to the artists imagination as opposed to practicality. A Switch Mini is pointless if it can be docked because the regular Switch is far more powerful to begin with.
@KiWiiU_Freek Technically, THQ isn't THQ Nordic, the former was an American video game conglomerate specializing in licensed games, the latter is an intellectual property acquiring Austrian company.
But to be fair, Darksiders did indeed start and end the Nintendo Wii U from a software perspective.
@abbyhitter Because music with lyrics just isn't as universal as an instrumental. Outside of Black Tar, the rest of the songs just didn't sit well with me. The original Xenoblade Chronicles on the other hand had some genuinely emotional melodies that X just could not re-create.
@Slim1999 Bayonetta 2 didn't perform admirably enough for Nintendo standards, I really don't see the value of Nintendo keeping a single entry when they don't own the IP regardless of whether they funded it or not.
@Frank90 It's to remind people that Sega owns the Bayonetta intellectual property. Plus, Sega can purchase the publishing rights for the game from Nintendo if they want to.
@Kayfios That's because the Disney sequels were made by an alternate division. The exception to the rule was Disney sequels like The Rescuers Down Under, Fantasia 2000 and Winnie the Pooh. They were actually good because they were made and directed by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
@OzHuski It's been confirmed that Sega acquired the rights to Herzog from Twenty-One company (the parent of defunct Technosoft) during the 2016 Tokyo Game Show.

Re: Epic And Nintendo On Their Burgeoning Relationship And Bringing Unreal Engine 4 To Switch
The Switch will be a true ressurgence for Nintendo if it was "western" third party support. Japan is always loyal to Nintendo.

Re: The Switch Mini Isn't Real Yet, But These Mock-Ups Sure Are Convincing
@FX102A That's the point of the system, it's cheaper because it's not supposed to be compaitable with the dock. It's exclusively for handhled gaming.
Re: Namco Museum Cover Art Hints At Physical Release On Switch
@faint Still doesn't justify the price. You're being conned by Bamco if you're willing to pay that much for those two games alone.
Re: Namco Museum Cover Art Hints At Physical Release On Switch
That is far too overpriced for the amount and rarity of the games in this collection.

Re: THQ Nordic is Bringing Sine Mora EX and Battle Chasers: Nightwar to Switch eShop

Re: Namco Museum Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Summer
Square Enix, give me a Taito museum!
Re: Sine Mora EX Is On Its Way To The Nintendo Switch
I find it all the more ironic that Lock's Quest and De Blob doesn't have a Switch port, but good on THQ Nordic for pledging support regardless!
Re: Talking Point: PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio Draw Battle Lines, But Nintendo Goes Its Own Way With Switch

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Composer Confirms Soundtrack Is Practically Complete
@abbyhitter I'd rather not, Xenoblade Chronicles X is a bunch of jumbled noise compared to the original's composition.
Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Confirmed For May 23rd Release On Wii U
All the more ironic considering Darksider 2 was a launch game for the Wii U.
Re: Square Enix is Considering More Nintendo Switch Releases

Square Enix owns Taito, and they have done nothing with any of the Taito intellectual properties ever since Space Invaders Infinity Gene!
