@NewAdvent Square Enix owns Taito. During the acquisition, Square Enix absorbed Taito into a shell company and re-branded the shell company as the new Taito (currently Square Enix's arcade division).
It's why Taito haven't been releasing games ever since the HD era.
@big_bad_bob Taito was always around, they were just legally re-organized as Square Enix's arcade brand. Because of that, they stopped publishing video games. So this is a wonderful surprise.
People, please support this if you want Taito to publish more home console video games. Square Enix owns the company, and if you invest in this collection, Taito's parent company will do so much more with their Taito back catalogue.
@NEStalgia Koch Media has been butchering every Deep Silver release to date, they need better management of game development and publishing, and who better than THQ Nordic?
@sillygostly @Gerbwmu THQ Nordic is formerly Nordic Games. legally, they're unaffiliated with THQ. With that being said, THQ Nordic is a financially smart company, they're not going to go through the same financial mis-steps that THQ did.
@Cosats But clearly, Nintendo needs to identify that their presence here hasn't been as successful as it has been in the US. Yeah, we're a smaller market, but even so, it's lost profit on Nintendo's part.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Pointing out Nintendo's poor market share with UK consumers is a valid criticism.
The problem with Nintendo is that they still see the UK as the "European market". Nintendo of Europe is headquartered in Germany so that doesn't really help them in understanding the UK market. Honestly, I don't think that Nintendo cares about the UK because its geographical market is smaller than the United States.
@Caryslan The Disney merger has yet to be approved though. As is, it's technically a proposed merger agreed by both parties. It's still yet to be legally implemented.
@ShockFire10 Yeah, they all have equal focus from a corporate standpoint.
In regards to the loss in Pachinko, changes in the Japanese laws of gambling are affecting the Pachinko industry alongside a general trend in people being less interested in Pachinko. Sammy Corporation originally had a strong market share with Pachinko, but times are just changing.
Their resort business was a recent endeavour but it's arguable thier biggest loss out of all three of their business. Funny how their gaming division used to be a mess in the late 2000's, but now, it's the division that's printing money.
@JJ286 No, just no. Sega and Atlus have a bunch of games contractually exclusive to Sony and they have subsidiaries exclusive for PC gaming. Plus, that'll just make Nintendo more monopolous than they need to be.
@Biff_ARMStrong That's handled entirely by Sammy Corporation though, Sega has no influence in that.
Basically, Sega Sammy Holdings is the parent company for Sega. It's also the parent company for Sammy Corporation. Sega is the entertainment division and Sammy Corporation is the pachinko division. Both divisions are unafilliated with each-other, their only link is their parent company.
@Biff_ARMStrong Except that Sega's not struggling, their blockbuster video game titles have been profitable: Sonic Mania, Persona 5 and Total War. It's Sammy Corporation that's financially struggling.
And by the way, Sega are going to revive dormant IP's. It's part of their Road to 2020 plans they elaborated to investors.
@Anti-Matter Sega's pachinko and gaming companies (Sammy and Sega respectively) are unafilliated with each-other's businesses. I struggle to see why you're so worried.
@ShockFire10 Basically, Sega Sammy (the parent company of Sega) have three business divisions. Pachinko (Sammy), Entertainment content (Sega, TMS Entertainment) and Resort.
In laymans terms, their entertainment division is looking promising, but their other two divisions... not so much. A factor of their improved gaming performance is the revenue from Atlus games.
@Kirgo You're being way too sympathetic to arguably the most powerful gaming conglomerate in Japan. They've got a bunch of business partners they can collaborate with. They can even pay a premium for parts if they want to and still retain a profit.

Re: Nintendo Switch Gets A New Lick Of Paint As De Blob Splats Down In 2018
@WhoaManWtF All THQ Nordic games are released on Steam first, so by that definition, they port all of their games.
Re: Nintendo Switch Gets A New Lick Of Paint As De Blob Splats Down In 2018
@SLIGEACH_EIRE But this is a portable 1080p HD remaster, and you're supporting THQ Nordic to port more games to the Switch if you buy it.

Re: Sega Lowers Full Year Forecast Amid Pachinko Performance Problems
I think 2017 has been a successful year for Sega regarding gaming. Persona 5, Yakuza 0 and Sonic Mania seemed to really bolster profits.
Next year definitely seems to be more Nintendo centric with Shin Megami Tensei V.
Re: Camelot Software Boss Is Keen To Make Shining Force IV A Reality
Sega's Road to 2020 plan is reviving dormant IP's so I can see an alignment of interests happening here...
Re: Bethesda Says DOOM And Wolfenstein 2 Are "The Start" Of A Nintendo Relationship
I wonder if that relationship is good enough to create a console exclusive game.
Re: Nintendo Switch Is Getting A New Phantasy Star Online Game
Switch is region free, you can download the game from the Japanese eShop and take it from there I suppose.

This is the game that will get me to buy a Nintendo Switch.
Re: Weirdness: Splatoon 2 Actually Has Built-In Voice Chat For LAN Play
Does Nintendo have a phobia of big bad swear words? because it's inexcusable for voice chat to be this poorly implemented.

@tamantayoshi But why is the King Koopa absent? Bowser Jr. has been confirmed to be in the game.

Question is, where does Bowser fit into all of this?
Re: Hey! Pikmin Shows Nintendo Still Has A Soft Spot For Rare
@FatAlbert1 There's no evidence to suggest any of that.
Re: Hey! Pikmin Shows Nintendo Still Has A Soft Spot For Rare
If Nintendo truly cared about their partnership with Rare thrn they would have subsidised the company.
Re: Capcom Reportedly Gearing Up for Multiple Nintendo Switch Titles
Mega Man Legacy collection or Disney Afternoon for Switch would be evidence enough for me.
Re: AtGames Confirms Its SEGA Genesis Clone Systems to Roll Out Ahead of SNES Mini
@Kalmaro Because Nintendolife likes Sega heardware enough to report on it.
Anyway, I'll stick to the Polymega.

Nintendo, the Switch is not the Wii U, you clearly have the cash to meet demand.
