Re: Has Metroid Prime 4 Taken Inspiration From Dread For Its New Suit?

Snow-Dust

For the people wondering, the purple visor is seen throughout the trailer and on the new box art due to her new psychic abilities. I do believe this is Samus because 1) at the middle forehead of her helmet, it sports a small piece that falls in line with her newest Varia suit design similar to the Lamont head to use psychic. 2) It falls in line with Metroid Prime tradition to have Samus in a new suit with OG being Phazon, Echoes with Light and Dark, Corruption with the PED suit and now this Lamorn inspired suit. 3) The way Samus steps out of the contraption looks like she just got a new power up.

Re: Valve Confirms It Contacted Nintendo About Dolphin Emulator Coming To Steam

@Benderv2 i agree it sucks that Nintendo isn’t making it more available and while pirating won’t hurt obscure games that will never see re-release ever again, it may potentially hurt games that may actually hurt the more popular titles like Mario and Zelda on the GameCube and Wii.

Here’s the thing, companies will always want you to buy their games and emulators are allowing an alternate but illegal option to get the game. As long as the majority don’t pirate, it’s not an issue but companies want 100% purchase rate and 0% piracy. It’s unrealistic but it’s what they want and honestly, can you blame them? If it’s your game, wouldn’t you want to have your game purchased instead pirated.

Fact is majority of the people who’s looking for emulators are trying to use it for pirating games.

@KingMike so does a bong to smoke weed, it has many uses and it isn’t illegal to own a bong but 99% of bong owners are sure as hell going to use it for smoking weeds. Same with an emulator, it can be used for other applications but it sure as hell will have 99% of the users using it to pirate games. Let’s not kid ourselves into thinking the devs of Dolphin Emulator wouldn’t know what their users are really using Dolphin for, this is why they tried to ship the product with the Wii’s cryptographic key.

Re: Valve Confirms It Contacted Nintendo About Dolphin Emulator Coming To Steam

People saying Nintendo are the bad guys needs to understand that in the end of the day, it’s Nintendo’s product and they have all legal rights to protect it and prevent other people misusing their products. If I am Nintendo and people are selling things that are designed to pirate the things I put my money and effort to make, I sure as hell will be mad as well.

“Oh but Dolphin Emulator can be used for something else! It doesn’t specifically say it’s used for pirating Nintendo games!” Really? You really think people are getting the dolphin emulator for some noble cause like playing some home made indie game? You and I both know people are getting that emulator so they can play pirates GameCube and Wii games.

“If Nintendo doesn’t want us to pirate their games, they should release it!” Yes! It sucks and Nintendo sucks for making their games so hard to get access to but that doesn’t make what Dolphin is doing right, two wrongs don’t make a right.

“Nintendo you liar, how does downloading chibi robo will ultimately result in the quote Using illegal emulators or illegal copies of games harms development and ultimately stifles innovation?”, last time I checked, companies need money to make video games, guess how they make such profit? By making you buy a game rather than pirating. Most pirates aren’t pirating Chibi Robo only if they decide to pirate the game, they’ll be pirating other games and eventually theyll be pirating Metroid Prime and Zelda WW and look at that, they happen to be on the switch. Say if you do only pirate Chibi Robo, that’s still a game you pirated which then begs the question of why Nintendo would re-release it in the future for the 5 people who wants it if the 5 people already pirated the game.

Nintendo does a lot of stupid things but protecting their IPs is not stupid or scummy.

Re: Poll: So, What Do You Think Of Mario's Movie Voice?

Snow-Dust

Imagine the perfect moment to show off anything special with the voice acting at the end bit with Mario’s iconic phrase of “Here we go!” But Chris said it in the most boring, sleep inducing voice and also saying, “Here we come…” instead.

The other voices are good though, Jack Black impressed me, I thought he was just going to be like Chris Pratt and use his normal voice as that’s usually what “celebrity voice actors” do.

Re: Gallery: First 4 Figures' 'Life Size' Samus Helmet - The Ultimate Metroid Collectable?

Snow-Dust

@Damo don’t feel too bad, initially there was a price difference but Later on, they seem to have made it the same price but having said that, the regular edition are all sold out while the Exclusive Edition is still purchasable.

If have to guess, exclusive was too expensive for too many people so they all bought the regular and now they have too many exclusive sitting in the shelves and so they dropped the price to try to get rid of them.

Re: Feature: 10 Famous Franchises That Would Make Great Warriors Games

Snow-Dust

Any Warriors game is a bad warriors game. Then we'll have some people who retorts that Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors are fun. No, they are not, you only think it's fun because it features a coat of paint that you like, you dont actually like the game, you just like the core franchise its based around.

Re: A Speedrunner Has Already Beat Pokémon Shining Pearl In Just 23 Minutes

Snow-Dust

any% speedrun is the most interesting because one new exploit or glitch can shake up the entire scene. Say a game that’s been speedrun for 5yrs now and the stable time is 3hrs long can one day drop to 1hr long to beat because of a new discovered exploit (and then another half hr because another exploit few days later), or that one legendary time that is 1hr due to the biggest RNG luck sack stayed as number 1 for years whilst all records are 1.5hrs at 2nd place onwards suddenly becomes beatable because a new technique shaves that much time off.

Glitchless isn’t as interesting because once everyone optimised their play to perfection, it’s only a matter of button mashing text faster and hoping for RNG to get faster times. You’ll get the occasional time shaved off but it’s usually just a few nano seconds and nothing really changed.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oudZMniib08
This is the history of Mario Sunshine speedrun and I think it perfectly shows why any% is such an exciting category.

Finally to top it off, just beating the game fastest isn’t always any%. If it’s not interesting to watch, they’ll make a seperate category just for runs with that glitch like Super Mario World Speedrun category. There is the under 10min speedrun a which is this
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gECESOoU8Es
But due to how boring it is to watch, this is put as it’s own category whilst longer runs with gameplay exploits rather than system exploits are still at the forefront even though the runs are way longer.
