Re: Kickstarter For Cuphead-Style Enchanted Portals Is Delayed Following Publisher Interest

Snow-Dust

There’s effort put into this but the jumps, dash, walk and everything is waaaaaaaay too similar. I don’t think there’s anything wrong if you’re not stealing any assets but it’s just too bad that they made a project that have little to no creative input at all. With talents such as this, I’m sure they could’ve introduced something innovative to the run N gun genre.

Re: Nintendo's App Monetisation Depends On The IP And Player Being Targeted

Snow-Dust

@fafonio I mean I’m not level 12 yet where the third tier (level 10 atm) on the shop opens so I would assume that’s where the platinum characters appear. If that’s the case then I feel a bit more motivated to play the game again. Also knowing that you can actually buy Platinum characters makes this game slightly more generous now, I mean the rubies handouts are still cheap but at least it isn’t FEH greedy level.

Re: Nintendo's App Monetisation Depends On The IP And Player Being Targeted

@1UP_MARIO I wanted Pauline but I didn’t get her and it was opening week so I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I stopped playing Mario Kart Tour after the first cup ended because when I logged in, they didn’t have login bonuses which I thought was super cheap of them.

It’s easier said than done about not summoning. I just checked and there is Halloween Rosalina which I would love to get because Rosalina is awesome but hey, game hasn’t even been out for 2 months yet so you can’t possibly have the 100 summons yet and this is assuming you come in high ranking for every cup. I got first on my first cup but then I couldn’t even touch top 5 when I got up to tier 4 so hey, no rubies for me.

Re: Nintendo's App Monetisation Depends On The IP And Player Being Targeted

@1UP_MARIO
50 rubies is equivalent to 11 summons, you’ll. Have to play a bit over 2 months just to get 100 pulls, that is hardly generous.

If I remember correctly, FEH gave you around 200-300 (We’ll meet half way so 250) orbs per month and it is around 20 orbs to do a full summon so within a month, you get 120 summons + Summon tickets that gives you free Summon + free Summon on a new banner.

Dragalia Lost gives so many summon that I’ve practically lost count at this point but from my account, I’ve been saving for about 2 months now and I can do about 400 summons and there were like a 10 days in a row where we get to summon 10 free daily and even on weekends too where we got 10 free daily on 2 banners so that was four 10 free Summon on the weekend separate from the 10 days in a row.

This is not counting that FEH and Dragalia’s gacha only have the premium stuff like FEH with the units and Dragalia with the adventurers and dragons (used to have prints as well but they removed it from the gacha and made it you can buy it with in-game currency which is SUPER generous).

Mario is littered with craps like the kart and the glider which unless you are trying to win the pvp content, you wouldn’t really care too much. I would say that one good thing about Mario Kart’s Tour’s gacha is that it will guarantee you get the featured things if you pull 100 times which I have to admit it is pretty generous but the slow rate you get your premium currency and the amount of times you need to pull X character to max them out to full power is absurd. FEH requires 11 copies max of the same unit to max them while Dragalia only need you to pull once for the Adventurer and you can max them already but the dragons need 5 copies total but as I said before, you get an item in game that can help them get to max power. I’ve been playing since February and I have 5 dragons to max powers just from those items alone. Assuming the platinum characters only need 1 copy (can’t find this information anywhere) for each level, you’ll need 6 copies total to have them at full skill level which is better than FEH But nowhere near Dragalia.

Also comparing to other Nintendo Mobile Games. I haven’t played Animal Crossing since launch but even I remember the leaf tickets were pretty generous in that game that I was able to get KK’s chair and Tom Nook’s chair. Dr Mario uses both gold coins and diamonds to unlock characters and supports which is pretty nice that they let you use regular currency to summon. I haven’t played Pokémon Masters but I heard that thing is greedy beyond control.

Overall, Mario Kart Tour’s only good point regarding the paid model/gacha is that the gacha will guarantee what you want after 100 summons and the platinum are all clones/alts except Pauline (so you can get your favourite who is usually ranked gold with coins from the shop if they are featured on that day), but everything else is just not good.

Re: Nintendo's App Monetisation Depends On The IP And Player Being Targeted

Snow-Dust

@fafonio Yea... no, out of all the Nintendo mobile games, this is probably the worst when comes to gacha. FEH is bad but at least you get a steady income of orbs. Mario Kart Tour doesn’t (you don’t get much from daily log ins and that is IF there are daily log ins from time), you can only earn like probably up to 5 red gem (equivalent to ONE Summon) after passing a few cups and to make matters worse, you have a chance to pick up Metal Mario or Musician Mario instead of Pauline and the like, yea no thank you. On the opening week, I think I only had made like a total of 10 summons and that’s when I grinded away to collect as many gem as possible which is super cheap ass on their part especially when it was the opening week.

If you think Mario Kart Tour is generous (which is not), wait til you play Dragalia Lost. That game is probably the most generous gacha game I’ve ever played. Premium currency for summoning for just about anything from completing missions, logging in and even when they have maintenance, reducing summoning cost from 500 premium currency to 200 per Summon, Summon Tickets Which comes in single and tenfold given as rewards, free Single or free tenfold summoning on banner for a set amount of days while the banner is on showcase and best of all, items that are handed out super generously that fully upgrade your gacha unit to max power (equivalent to FEH’s merge or Mario Kart’s character level).

Re: Satoru Iwata Initially Didn't Want Wii Sports Bundled With Wii In The US, Says Reggie

Snow-Dust

@ShadJV Is it really greedy though? I mean right now we view it as a given since we have it packed in but Wii Sport is a retail game that was initially sold separately in Japan so it makes sense that Iwata’s mindset is to continue selling them separately. I hardly find selling a working retail game separately as greedy, if you say Wii Sports came in an episodic format where you have to pay $20 on top for each sports then that would be greedy.

Re: Unauthorised Translations Of The Satoru Iwata Book "Will Be Subject To Criminal Charges"

Snow-Dust

I’m not too sure about the criminal laws in Japan but good luck trying to press charges for something like that in Australia. If the book gets translated, it is up to the company to pursue this matter civilly since there is nothing criminal about translating something.

Also good luck trying to get your country police to deal with any international criminal offences, only at the most severe scenario will they apply for a warrant to make an international arrest.

So unless Japan’s law is drastically different, I see that post either to be misinformed or a feeble attempt at scaring people.

Re: Feature: Inside The World Of Pokémon ROM Hacks

Snow-Dust

@TrainerX493 let me just ask him which one he made, I’ll probably be able to “leak” his latest update as well. As far as I’m aware, he’s been doing Pokémon hacks since 2012 I think.

I’ll get back to you once I got the answer.

Re: Feature: Inside The World Of Pokémon ROM Hacks

Snow-Dust

Reading this articles reminds me that my brother is still making Pokémon ROM hack games. I never paid much attention to his hacks though but now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure he’s the one behind the Pokémon hack Adventure Green and Yellow (or titled something else? He definitely made a Green hack since he’s obsessed with that character). All I remember is he was showing off this Pikachu that you have to chase down in this small forest like maze and I just palmed him off cause I was too busy at that moment.

Re: Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Year

Snow-Dust

@Ralek85 first paragraph, are we talking about FF7 or FF8 here? Cause FF8 is definitely a remaster, it even says in the total of this article. In order for anything to be a remake, it needs to be built from the ground up like NES FF > GBA FF > PSP FF and so all music, graphics, environment, text etc are all different. No matter how you look at FF8, it is at most a glorified port, I hardly call it a remaster.

Now I just read your second paragraph and you are definitely taking about FF7, sorry but you’re in an FF8 article. So yes, FF7 is a remake but not FF8.

In terms of what’s getting me hyped, I feel ya on Ghostwire Tokyo, there is no gameplay footage yet sadly but the concept is nice so far. My other hyped game is Doom Eternal.

Re: Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Year

Snow-Dust

@-Juice- Played it twice on the original PlayStation, it was by far the worst FF game (mainly due to Junction). From what I can see, it’s been re-released on PSN, Steam, Xbox, on PC etc.

From what I can see on Steam right now, it is readily available for anyone to play since 2013.

The main issue is Square Enix always port/Remaster/Remix/remake their older games. Final Fantasy 1 and 2 has been ported and remade to death (what was the latest one? The mobile versions?), FF3 has a remake on the DS, FF4 has a remaster on GBA and remake on DS, 7 and 9 has been ported to everywhere, 10 has an international version and recently had the HD thing going on. KH1 and 2 have remix version, international version and also 1.5 and 2.5 or something. The world ends with Yoy have a mobile version and also extra content on switch (give me a goddam sequel to this game). Dark stalkers does not have a new game but Square was planning to make one and forced fans to buy the old games to “see if there is an audience for the game”. This conference has so many remasters. There is so many more examples but I think you get what I’m saying at this point.
