@bolt05 @GraveLordXD I used to struggle with screen protectors as well, but then a phone accessory shop employee, who puts on screen protectors on a daily basis, gave me some tips and since then I always get them on perfect.
1: Clean your hands.
2: Clean the screen with a soft cloth with some cleaning alcohol.
3: Finish with a dry cloth (best is an antistatic, NEVER use kitchen towels and such as they will scratch!).
4: Align the protector 'as if' to get an idea where it will fit. But don't let it touch the screen.
5: Briefly double-check for grease and dust and re-use the wet and dry clothes if necessary.
6: Swiftly peel off the screen protectors sheet (don't do it too slow to prevent creating more static for dust), and swiftly drop it into place 'steering' it with 2 hands. Be sure to hold it on the sides and never touch the bottom.
7: Check for any air bubbles and slide them out to the side using a hard piece of paper or cardboard. Then check for any dust particle(s) that might've slipped in.
8: Got any dust? Grab a small piece of adhesive tape in one hand (the clear one for office use, NO ductape or other such glued stuff). Then use the piece of paper to slip it under the applied protector's side closest to the dust particle and with your other hand, press the tape on any dust particle you see, then drop the protector back into place and double-check again. Repeat if necessary.
Remember, the better and slightly more expansive screen protectors should come complete with all this stuff (the 2 cloths, and a dust catching 'sticker'). For example, I used the BigBen glass protector made for Switch. It was a perfect dust-free fit first try!
EDIT: Oh I forgot, use a bright, direct light source when you do all this. It'll reveal even the slightest grease and fingerprints that common room lighting won't.
The boxarts show how to play the console in the different modes, but it misses game screenshots. I always loved how earlier consoles such as the GameCube bragged with cool screenshots.
Also, fun to see all parts are new and are codenamed HAC-xxx but only the HDMI cable is a WUP-008 (from the Wii U product line, and also included with the NES Classic Mini).
I don't think this is necessarily the display name as only lowercase letters get saved. It's probably like a Steam ID, an alternative way to sign in and identify your account aside from your email address. You'll probably still have a Mii or Display name to set and change on your console.
I played the WiiWare version for hours. Such an amazing one-man game. I hope they include the original music like on WiiWare and scrap the awful 'midi-like' soundtrack that also came with it.
@artofmana Hmm, I live in the Netherlands and there are 2 store chains (Nedgame & Mediamarkt) that occasionally have a few in stock in both physical stores and their websites. I'd honestly rather place a preorder with either of them and wait up to a month than buy one from a scalper.
@JaxonH The bullet hell subgenre takes this gimmick even further, such as with those CAVE arcade games. The devs there intentionally select their CPU based on speed and build the game around that. Theoretically, running these games on faster CPU's would make them impossible as human reflexes have their limits.
This is also why proper emulation of any platform should always emulate CPU cycles too even if that means a game can slow down where it may not be necessarily needed. The NES Classic Mini did this right too (and not just on Gradius).
Slowdowns were somewhat part of this game, and I think it's supposed to happen on all versions including the arcade. You can use it to your advantage on certain points and trigger it by keeping some enemies alive and such.
The closing down of the Dutch [N]Gamer magazine and website is actually the reason I'm reading Nintendo Life now.
Still sad to see that go. I believe a printed magazine can work if it accompanies a website with more up to date news and coverage. The site can then offer news as soon as it's available, and the magazine can go in-depth about things.
Also, magazines definitely need personality from it's writers. Readers should be able to relate to the writers and become fans. There are tons of gaming magazines that took a dull 'third persons' writing approach and they often failed after their first issue.
I loved how this man hadn't given up on the arcade market while Nintendo completely moved to the home console market (same goes to SEGA's excellent line of arcade machines).
I'm looking forward to Mario Odyssey and a bit to Rayman Legends Definitive Edition, but otherwise not that much I'd play. Good system but a little underwhelming if Zelda is not really your type of game.
I'll get this for sure, even though I played hundreds of hours on the WiiU version and top100'd the cups ranking.
Things I hope for: 1: Touch screen sections replaced with actual playable versions when playing alone like on the other versions. 2: Finally some new daily/weekly challenge locations and variations.
I could contribute another wall of text to this page, but I'd rather just point out that I kind of enjoyed the presentation and am increasingly optimistic about the system and it's shown games.
Where most classic games faded from Japanese arcades, some fighters and shmups live on. My fav shmups got to be the CAVE games. They're popular enough to occupy a corner in many Japanese arcades and are usually 50yen per credit nowadays.
A few region free Xbox 360 ports exist, and more recently these started to appear internationally on Steam. Try Mushihimesama and DeathSmiles there. Yes, all CAVE stuff is bullet hell but pretty forgiving on the lower difficulties. The atmosphere these games set by excellent art, music, and bullet patterns make them almost meditational!
They definitely look better than last set of Mario toys and the Pokémon ones.
Still, Seeing that Mario toy from the sides makes it look even more like a toilet seat. It looks awkward and funny at the same time. I'd get that one to place it on my toilet drawer (if the Dutch McDonalds will get this set too).
@cheonsacz This development doesn't really prioritize playing Wii U games on a smartphone (as they lack physical buttons), but instead tries to make a smartphone usable as an additional GamePad or replacement.
A lot of Wii U owners don't necessarily like to use the GamePad for games that don't have much use for it and will then resort to the Pro Controller or even a Wiimote. Then imagine if you want to copy a save file in the settings or something, and you must use the GamePad. I'd gladly pick my smartphone out of my pocket and go into those Wii U settings to copy that file. No need to get up to the TV where the actual GamePad is sitting on it's charge stand.
Why did they choose that block formation for Mario and why does it seem like his butt is positioned lower into the block he sits on? Aha, so that's what a TOILET in the Mushroom Kingdom looks like!
Also, That happy meal box with a face is even creepier in Mario cloths.
@Mr_Zurkon Yes, that's why I especially loved that one. The fact that Nintendo experimented with 3D for the original Luigi's Mansion on GameCube probably helped the devs for Dark Moon as well. The 3D for it is never intrusive, but very engaging and to the point.
It feels like you're guiding Luigi through a shoebox diorama (and that's an exceptionally good experience).
I'm a fan of the 3D effect. For both the 3DS, 3DTV, and in cinemas.
I've really enjoyed the 'glory days' of the 3DS with games like Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Zelda OoT, and especially Luigi's Mansion 2. I have the 3D effect on all the time, and am kind of disappointed with games like Super Mario Maker for 3DS that don't support it at all.
I wouldn't mind the Switch not having it. It'd be a cool bonus but not necessary for a home console hybrid that is often used on the TV.
I bought a 2nd Wii U system for slightly less brand new at a local electronics store over 2 years ago. They wanted to get rid of current stock and stop selling gaming stuff altogether, so perhaps I lucked out but sure, local stores have had much greater Wii U deals over the years than Nintendo ever had.
$200 sure is too much for a refurbished system, I'd rather recommend newcomers who really want to play the good Wii U games to look for a deal elsewhere.
@Damo Hmm, it may differ per person depending on how much you play. I used to play about 30 to 50 Toad Races when the game came out. That's about the only time I ran low. Then I started to finish the World Tour mode with all colored coins, and that mode literally drowned me in tickets. 2 per colored coin completion and some more for world completion (if I remember correctly).
Once you get enough colored Toads, you get these special blocks and minigames you can use to get more tickets everyday. The big block gives 10, the small ones usually 5 (if not just coins). The minigames could give you another 10 to 15 tickets.
So as long as you aren't playing 20 to 30 Toad Races a day, you can safely gain more than you spend.
Not useful at all if you bought the game. You can have 99 (the max amount) of tickets about every day and play hours of Toad Race against those same friends where it does count.
I guess it's good for newcomers who want to practice without losing any Toads.
It looks okay, some good pixel art too. Maybe a tad too psychedelic to me. I'd have to see the final product to determine a purchase though I absolutely love classic shooters!
Ikaruga is one of the reasons I keep my GameCube, and the same goes for the vast selection of imported CAVE games that keep my Xbox 360 running.
@KTT Thanks for the detailed explaination, seems like I really missed something back then! I do remember collecting a lot of medals in Gen5, but some were indeed related to online stuff that obviously doesn't work anymore after Nintendo WiFi's closure. Maybe that fanmade Nintendo WiFi clone is still up for gen5? idk, but we can safely say the connectivity features in gen5 were the best they made even without considering the Global Link. They even had these emoticons to react to trade offerings, among other features lost since Gen6.
Please remember that the amount of downloads may be kind of dubious at this time due to Nintendo & Apple's deal making Mario Run take over the ENTIRE showcase on the App Store for a while. No other app got this kind of attention, not even Pokémon GO.
Basically, using the internet means you get tracked somehow, by some means. Even if you take every kind of precaution such as installing VPS and using encryption. There is no absolute privacy. And then there's the 'risk' of your friends mentioning your existence on sites like Facebook.
And I'm not quite surprised that Pokémon GO was searched a lot this year, but didn't think it came out on top.
@KTT Sadly, I haven't ever registered for the Gen5 global link as my old DS back then didn't support my home Wifi router anymore. But I remember the game referred to it as the Dreamworld. I also liked how the medals were indeed obtained in the actual game, and loved the surprise when that white-coat dude showed up inside a Pokémon Center who gave them to you.
I may just keep using the Global Link for some online competitions and that's about it.
Seriously, 20%? MyNintendo is supposed to reward loyal customers. The problems:
1: Loyal customers either already have these games, and if they don't 20% off is barely tempting to get them now. 2: If these discounts are aimed at newcomers from Super Mario Run, they'd likely don't have the gold points for these discounts.
Oh, and another problem may be the game's calling system. I haven't got too much trouble with it as I'm a dedicated Pokédex completionist. But the average player will likely be annoyed and run away after a weakened Pokémon calls for help successfully.
@Moon Well, you would as 30 Pokémon sure beats the average.
But it also came as a surprise to me that the remade PokémonGL is in fact just the same website optimized for Sun&Moon and even less accessible in-game. I mean, you HAVE to enter Festival Plaza and access a specific PC there to set it up, and then a Game Sync won't happen if you don't enter Festival Plaza again.
The Gen6 Game Sync wasn't really more accessible, but at least it was in a place where players would expect it, which was accessible anywhere from within the game through the lower screen.
Some great choices here, but definitely not the best year for Nintendo games.
Aside from Pokken Tournament and Star Fox Zero I really didn't got any new Wii U games. And for 3DS it's just Pokémon Moon and Mario Maker 3DS which are very recent.
I guess I'll vote the Swapnote thing as a downloadable then, as it's a pretty cool replacement for the old letterbox one.
I wasn't planning on getting one, but my bro got one anyway. He bought it from a local toystore chain (Bart Smit) some weeks ago. Back then I wasn't aware of the demand for it being so high.
And honestly, I personally don't think it's worth all the fuzz, hence why I wasn't going to get it myself. I played some hours of Mario 3 on it and emulation definitely is the best from any virtual console Nintendo has done (and we all know Wii U does it the worst).
However, it's still just 30 NES roms locked on a locked Raspberry Pi shaped like a NES with a little replica NES controller with an awkwardly short wire. And NES arcade ports such as Ghosts & Goblins and Gradius had their far superior arcade versions released on other platforms for a long time.
Verdict: It's a gimmicky yet enjoyable mini-console, but you're not really missing out if you can't get one right now.
I like these gestures of goodwill. And totally agree with the Best Buy guy about the disgrace of bashing it. I can't believe how so many people are genuinely evil. Sure there will be doubts about things like this happening in companies (big businesses aren't exactly a source of trust in todays world) but everything indicates this action happened among these employees and not Best Buy. Spread some love, love can exist without hate!
@DanteSolablood Also nice! I'm kind of slow completing Moon atm, but I hope to be able to complete the Alola dex by the end of December with plenty of days off coming up.
Magearna is supposedly going to be distributed through the Pokémon TV app sometime in December or January if I remember correctly. So I guess that problem will be solved way earlier than Diancie was for XY.
This is definitely possible but requires immense patience for all the stalling and some grinding. Money for getting items wouldn't be a big problem in this version as there's plenty of sellable items.
Failsales like this kind if hurt my love for Nintendo. And I'm afraid they likely won't treat us any better with the Switch. It's strange thinking that one year on Xbox One gave me more excitement and surprises than the Wii U did in 4.
But seriously though, sales don't really determine the quality of the console and it's games, but it does add to the overall experience. And Xbox One and PS4 have far better deals which turn their customers into fans.
Nintendo should know better with their small Wii U installed base and treat the loyalists with amazing deals instead! If the console failed, why not spread around the good games to make even more fans!?
@DanteSolablood That explains it perfectly indeed. Thanks. And yes, I didn't notice before, but this explains why my Pokemon's positions in gyms were moved down the ranks even though nobody challenged them!

Re: Video: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Given More Framerate 'Stress Tests' on Wii U and Switch
@UK-Nintendo Nice comparison video! But maybe the 'loading from main menu' test isn't exactly fair as they were both saved to a different location.
For the other tests, it's worth noting that the world is kind of dynamic with weather and day/night, so that may affect loading times a bit too.
Overall, it's safe to say the Wii U and Switch versions have closer load times than tests could reveal.

Verdict: It's a gimmicky yet enjoyable mini-console, but you're not really missing out if you can't get one right now.
Re: Random: Store Employees Buy Wii U For Teen Who Visited Every Day To Play Smash Bros.
Happy holidays everyone!
Re: Meloetta is Now Being Distributed to the Gen 6 Pokémon Games
@DanteSolablood Also nice! I'm kind of slow completing Moon atm, but I hope to be able to complete the Alola dex by the end of December with plenty of days off coming up.
Magearna is supposedly going to be distributed through the Pokémon TV app sometime in December or January if I remember correctly. So I guess that problem will be solved way earlier than Diancie was for XY.
Re: Meloetta is Now Being Distributed to the Gen 6 Pokémon Games

Here's all in order on my Pokémon Bank: https://youtu.be/xNxkv2mLdB8
Re: Music: Rayman Soundtrack Could Get a Jazz/Rock Reimagining in New Album
One of my all time favorite games and very attractive soundtrack.
I can't use Kickstarter though due to Amazon's requirements. I hope this reaches at least it's first goal though!
Re: Random: Japanese Player Claims To Have Beaten Pokémon Sun And Moon With A Magikarp
This is definitely possible but requires immense patience for all the stalling and some grinding. Money for getting items wouldn't be a big problem in this version as there's plenty of sellable items.
Re: Random: Pokémon Red Glitch Used to Beat Another Game Boy Title With a 'Credits Warp'
@ReshiramZekrom Yes, it's basically the same thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY-_NOKa658
Re: European Wii U and 3DS eShop Cyber Deals Now Confirmed
Re: Weirdness: Pokémon Sun And Moon Glitches Are Half Monty Python, Half Terminator 2
Haha I love these 2 glitches and secretly hope I'll encounter them.
Re: Niantic Says Thanks With Pokémon GO Double XP And Stardust Event
@DanteSolablood That explains it perfectly indeed. Thanks. And yes, I didn't notice before, but this explains why my Pokemon's positions in gyms were moved down the ranks even though nobody challenged them!
