Re: Nintendo May Be Facing Heat From The FTC Over Its Warranty Policy

Slaz

At least you can send in a defective Joy-Con without sending the Switch unit they came with.

But I agree that Nintendo does have a fair point if, say, one of those flimsy unlicensed Kickstarted docks caused damage to your Switch and you want them to repair it. If Nintendo does repair it, consider that a gesture of loyal customer support.

After all, companies tend to repair some things outside of warranty as they rather have a lifelong happy customer that keeps buying their products, than one's negative experience that may spread to other potential customers.

Re: Bullet Hell Shooters Vasara And Vasara 2 Are Coming To Switch Next Year

Slaz

@Ryu_Niiyama I know right! Switch sure is becoming Bullet Heaven by now.

CAVE games are probably considered the highest standard in the subgenre, with highscore scenes still going after years of their initial releases. Degica has been releasing a few of their games on Steam in recent years but the height of CAVE's library is still missing, probably because their Steam ports are based on ready Xbox 360 ports. A port of a port, basically.

Re: Video: 9 Mario Games We Wish had Never Existed

I finished Super Mario Bros. 2 'The Lost Levels' several times, on All-Stars, the GBC Deluxe version, and on 3DS VC. It's just muscle-memory and concentration that can get you through, but yes it's too hard for mainstream players who loved the original SMB.

That said, I didn't bother finishing world 9 and extra's due to the 1-life limit.

Re: Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza Comes To Pokémon GO

@DanteSolablood Having mythical as ultra rare spawns (like Unown) would sure be more true to their name, as well as more exciting.

And I mostly raid after 5 during workdays but never in the weekend. Yeah, it sucks that most raid spawns are done by 5 so I have to be lucky. It’d be nice if raids happened longer during the evening, and not have half of them spawn at 8 in the morning, lol.

Re: Niantic Confirms Those Pokémon GO EX Raid battle updates were just a "bug"

Slaz

@NEStalgia True that. I always believed the lack of any connectivity between Go and Sun/Moon was a missed opportunity from the rather conservative Pokémon Company. It would’ve been nice to create one Trainer character and neatly switch between virtual Alola on 3DS and the real world on your phone. That would’ve convinced at least more ‘trendhoppers’ from the Go hype into the series.

At some point they were definitely considering this, as early PoGo avatars were modeled after the Omega Ruby/Sapphire models, which were the latest games back then. And Sun/Moon had ‘Pokémon GO’ programmed in as possible location data for obtained Pokémon.

They may (or may not) do this right with that Harry Potter thing, where there’s a traditional game ‘Hogwarts Mysteries’ that lets people create a character and get into the HP world, adventuring and learning spells, etc. Then you’d take that character to Niantic’s ‘Wizards Unite’ and put your wizarding skills in practice in the real world.

@DanteSolablood I have yet to receive an Ex Raid Pass. I’m playing very local and last Ex Raid in town was on christmas day anyway. Maybe I got a chance now that gold gym badges and personal raid activity actually does count.

And I suppose they’ll introduce Mythical raids next? I recall reading that raid boss data for Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi is in the game code now.

Re: Niantic Confirms Those Pokémon GO EX Raid battle updates were just a "bug"

Slaz

@NEStalgia That's still somewhat of a problem. Aside from some rare spawns, cities have most activity by far. Still, the game is very much alive to the point that it's rare to have even a smaller town where there's no active group of players to be found.

Maybe the question should be whether articles like these are newsworthy for a Nintendo site. Well, technically Nintendo has a share in PoGo which is still a significant amount of income for them.

Ah screw it haha, Pokémon Go is good for Nintendo and so are news articles on it's updates to Nintendo fans!

Re: Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza Comes To Pokémon GO

@rjejr The normal green version will be in Go.

@Timsworld To most people still playing Pokémon Go including myself, the raid system is actually the most exciting feature in the game. I've met people in my neighborhood that I wouldn't have met otherwise. It basically brought people together that were playing mostly solo during the game's 'hype' in summer 2016. Rare spawns and some shinies are already there basically. Non-event wild Unown spawns are the rarest at the moment.

Re: Pokémon GO Could Be Getting New Story Quests

Slaz

I'm still playing daily since launchday.

Some story and character would suit this game for sure. After all, I barely even know how Professor Willow looks anymore! And your team's leader guy is only ever seen to appraise the IV's of your Pokémon.

They also need to move on with these Ex Raids. There seems to be a pretty consistent pattern to triggering them now, but yesterday a very confusing wave of Ex Raid Passes were handed out in my area, mostly to people who never did a raid on the gym in question!

Re: Spread The Love (And Some Bullet-Hell) As The Void Rains Upon Her Heart Targets Switch

Slaz

I 'love' the amount of shooters currently, and coming to, the Switch.

For this one I'd have to see and hear more about the final product. Since this is clearly bullet-hell stuff, it's success will depend on the creativity of bullet and enemy patterns, as well as having a good scoring system that makes players want to return to the game.

As for the visuals. I'm not really sure what style they're aiming for, but aside from minor inconsistencies it looks alright for now.

Also, just coincidence but for a slight moment I thought the same game was displayed on the front-page twice, lol:

Re: Turbo Pug DX Has Been Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Slaz

Don't confuse shovelware with indie games. Turbo Pug falls into the category of a small dev trying to bring something out on Switch and Nintendo helping them with that. Although that doesn't make it an original or good game.

Shovelware is when a company like Ubisoft orders their Chinese department to make the 1000th Pets game for some easy low-risk money.

Re: Guide: Essential Tips to Reach Level 100 in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Slaz

@Euler No. These games are totally unrelated to the generation 1 games, and play in an entirely different region (so no Viridian or Cinnabar).

And even if the devs had decided to add Kanto in like some speculated, the glitches wouldn't be there. Though it would've been nice if a little nod was placed in the form of a hidden item on Missingno's place. Same as FireRed/LeafGreen put an item on the infamous 'Mew Truck' location.

Re: Guide: Essential Tips to Reach Level 100 in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Slaz

They had to build in ways for established players to do less grinding, and I'm happy they did.

After all, grinding XP in RPG's is not something today's audience really likes to do. Back in the NES days developers encouraged grinding to let the game last longer and make the players feel they're getting worth their money. Right now technology certainly allows for more intuitive ways to build characters (Pokémon) in RPG's.

Re: Random: Bask in the Nostalgia of Nintendo's Old Flash Games and Websites

Slaz

@Darkwario1 Wario World's site also had a little point & click thingy going on. Not as cool, but I remember it well.

Back then, Flash was the go-to way of having some interactivity on a website that you know will look the same on any browser that supports Flash. Right now it's completely surpassed by HTML5 and related stuff such as Javascript. Those technologies are open-source and way faster than Flash, and above all else they work efficient on mobile while Flash doesn't.
