I'd give it an 8. The device is what i wanted. Faster than the PS4 speed rumors before launch. Backwards compatibility is great. largely due to games running better than ever. I wouldn't call the exclusives disappointing games but for me none of them feel like the best in their IP.
Of course. Just got the shipping confirmation. While i don't like the bike, everything else looks amazing. Can't wait to explore those beautiful environments.
No nintendo flavor and regular controls, no sale. They could have done so many things with this like playing in the mario mountains, a match inside bowsers castle etc to make it just slightly less dull. Hell, i'd take monstertruck wheels powerups at this point.
Switch 2: Dragon Quest II HD 2D remake, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition and maybe some Coromon. If only gamefreak gave us another classic style pokemon game. PS5: Probably nothing PC: Anno 117: Pax Romana and Europa Universalis V.
@AndyRogan Too bad custom rules aren't a thing for switch/switch 2 it seems meaning you can't apply that. It's why i immediately put it down after getting it cheap. Hopefully that will finally change the coming updates.
Switch 2: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Yooka-Replaylee and maybe some Achilles Survivor (much better than expected) PC: Europa Universalis V and Super Fantasy Kingdom PS5: Persona 3 Reload
I don't play NES at all. Never owned one so have no nostalgia for it and most games are just a tad too basic for my liking. SNES is where gaming starts getting great for me.
The only real controversy is the gamekeycards and many will just get those digital instead of skipping the games. Could just install from a cartridge to maintain true phys if the speeds are an issue but devs like to ***** people into believing the gamekeycards are a necessary thing. It's not. not for this many of the games. You can compress a lot more if it doesn't have to run directly. People had to be pointed to the screen to even realise it. It's perfectly fine for actual usage. I use mine almost every day. It's faster than i expected it to be and it running switch 1 games so much better is just fantastic.
Maybe but i wasn't in a rush to pre-order it. i have absolutely 0 hype for it (partially the fault of scarlet/violet). Just feels wrong to not have it in the collection.
About 60-100 a year right now but to be fair, i didnt jump into the switch and ps5 platforms until 2023 and just caught up on the library i otherwise would have collected over time. Considering i am caught up now, it's likely to slow down to like 3-5 games a month.
I will not be playing or getting anything in regards to virtual boy. I have no nostalgia for it and the color palette is offputting. Not to mention the impractibility of using the device. Just give us updated versions of the games with actual colors so it feels more SNES. Now that i would play.
Halftruth. It could have still had all necessary files on a cartridge that installs it without the need for the eshop or online altogether. Sure you wouldn't save on storage space but at least preservation remains intact.
I'd give it a 7/10 and the console itself an 8/10.
There is a decent first party lineup but none of them are the best in their series in my opinion I highly prefer MK 8 deluxe over MKW and Donkey Kong Bananza while good doesn't truely feel donkey kong to me. Could have put a rhino in and it would have felt like the same game. Where it goes down is third party support (probably nintendo's fault for not giving enough dev kits on time) and especially the physical library or lack thereof.
Doubt it will be the ps6
Part of sony's users are there because of the better hardware/graphics.
Putting it in this formfactor wont improve that over the ps5.
A side console with its own games and backwards compat with ps5 (some overlap with ps6 for lighter stuff) seems more likely.
@Bizzyb It's clearly not just a res increase. The horsepower goes to the actual graphics. Shadows, textures, amount of effects at once etc. Now that doesn't mean i wasn't expecting 1080p.
@sixrings Not at all. I was somewhat disappointed by MKW. Not a bad game at all but it doesn't hold a candle to 8 deluxe for me. With the sonic racing game getting a delayed release on s2, i've been looking for a means to scratch that itch.
"Zero aesthetic personality" and "Controls will be a big hurdle for some" are the biggest issues. It just looks so sterile. Like a techdemo instead of a full game. It would have done a lot better if it was filled with all kinds of happy nintendo cameo's and environments. I also don't see many people really wanting to use the controlschemes as they are now. Maybe it will get a bit more succes if they change the above and allow for regular controls. Hell, go nuts with it. Make monstertruck variants or something that you can unlock. Until then i'd give it a 5/10 at best.
@Dr_Corndog Why? They want to use a product made by Nintendo. Not the other way around. The burden lies with the organizers to get everything set up correctly beforehand. For all we know Nintendo didn't know until someone else informed them.
"as a legal entity, they would have to ask for permission in advance" This is the important bit. While most devs don't care as they get exposure, this was always a thing to keep in mind and known to them as a requirement at least on paper. The goal, regardless of how noble it is, doesn't matter if you take something that isn't yours and try to make money with it. Charity or not.
Great seeing conquest getting the love it deserves.
Especially considering so few people seem to know about it.
The game doesn't end when you beat the campaign.
You just unlock more campaigns.
@Wood_Stick
It is at least semi relevant though.
The gamekeycard launch games pretty much all bombed.
It's not that out of this world to think the ports have a chance of being less succesful if they go the same route with less ports in the future as a result.
Edit:
Also storage is expensive.
Less of an issue with true physical.
Gotta be realistic though.
Forza 5 and indiana jones simply wouldn't fit.
@Wexter It's a very unlikely thing to happen of course. Ideally Mistwalker would be involved but if MS wants, they do have the ability to put another studio on that instead. Just pray it wouldn't be Aspyr.
Probably 10-15 hours. Free roam just isn't for me and i prefer the old circuit style of 8 deluxe over the riding towards the circuit and doing 1 lap of a lot of races.
Can't see this selling much. Partially because it's so empty and partially because wheelchair sports aren't sexy. Not to mention the required physical activity being a big turnoff after a long day of work.
Loving it so far but it is a shame not more devs added res/fps patches yet. You'd think it wouldn't be too much work and out in days to capitalize on the small launch offering.
As soon as it became possible. Unfortunately my physical copy of mario kart world is delayed a day but everything else still seems on track. No gamekeycards though. That's the worst of both worlds and a practice i hope dies out soon.
The switch 1 pro controller was already my favorite controller simply due to its crazy battery life.
Considering this one has a 40 hour battery life as well, along with the QOL, it was a nobrainer.
I've slowed down my game purchases significantly. it's more about compatibility than the announcement itself. Yes first party support is great but there is too much unclear about third party. Don't want to get new switch 1 games and risk them not running on the switch 2 at this point.
Easy. Make pre-purchases only possible with an account that has done a purchase along with a max of 1 each. Retailers all require an account these days so it could have been a condition for getting pre-order units from nintendo.

Rare + Playtonic.
Basicly unite the old team and return to pre microsoft glory days.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (October 2025)
Ball x Pit followed by Xenotilt.
Put so many hours in these the past weeks.

PS5: Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO

Super Fantasy Kingdom of course.
Shame it's not on switch 2 yet.
The mouse mode would be great for it.
Also some Ball x Pit.

Already have the forgotten land but i like having the switch 2 content on card.
i'll just give the s1 version to a friend.

They own the IP after all.
A man can dream.
