Re: You Can Now Register for a Nintendo Account

Shirma_Akayaku

@Ryu_Niiyama I just really, really hope Nintendo doesn't get hacked. I know they're not targeted as much as Sony or MS, but My Nintendo is in it's early stages, so we can only hope for the best.

@Vee_Flames I'm assuming a lot of people are trying to get their codes, so that's why it might be taking a long time. At least you got yours.

Re: You Can Now Register for a Nintendo Account

Shirma_Akayaku

One more thing, preregistration for Miitomo is having issues. This is the link for it, but clicking the second link within the first for information brings you to the site with a lock screen. It's an issue for some people, not all.

https://accounts.nintendo.com/term_point

Don't try to enter using your My Nintendo account. I tried, it didn't work. Also, going to https://miitomo.com/ brings you to a dead page with "File not found."

EDIT: Looks like preregistration for Miitomo is working now.

Re: You Can Now Register for a Nintendo Account

Shirma_Akayaku

I made my account already with my NNID, but only through that way. Turns out there's some unsettling stuff in their "Policies & Terms of Agreement", so I'd probably tell people not to make an account using their social media accounts.

EDIT: Here's a statement that has me worried (open image in new tab / link to enlarge picture):
Untitled
Sure this statement is true across all companies, but Nintendo has had a reputation of having their systems hack pretty easily (and certain websites on few occasions). I just hope they know what they're doing with their security.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Z Creator Launches New Patreon Page After Nintendo Takedown

Shirma_Akayaku

Unfortunately, Nintendo is within their rights to shut down his Patreon. However, he can still continue making SMBZ and I'm sure Nintendo won't interfere with his videos on YouTube (hopefully).

I'm mainly worried that if he keeps trying to raise money through Patreon, even without Nintendo's IP's being mentioned, Nintendo could try to take down his videos, which I'm sure many people wouldn't want that to happen (including the creator).

Also, he really needs to find a part-time job that gives him enough free time & money to make SMBZ, or he could try making an original series and fund that in order to have enough money for SMBZ (which is like a technical workaround, but is just as difficult as the first, if not more).

Re: Talking Point: The Time is Right for a Nintendo Direct

Shirma_Akayaku

A Nintendo Direct would be good soon... but maybe it could happen in early March. I don't see a Direct happening in February unless Nintendo announces it this week for the following week. I'd like it to happen, but we've heard nothing and they only got 5 days left to say something.

Re: Splatoon Producer on Pre-Release Concerns and the Future of the Franchise

Shirma_Akayaku

@Spoony_Tech They could also port the game to the NX if they really wanna milk its success. (They'd find workarounds if you don't have a Game Pad).

@Bolt_Strike I definitely want playable octolings (It would get me back into the game). However, the weird thing is that they're still updating the octoling models to be compatible with the multiplayer animations. If they're still doing content with the "rumored" Callie & Marie amiibo, there's still a chance for playable octolings, even if it doesn't seem likely.

Re: Interview: Learning More About The 'Ultimate Crossover' RPG, Project X Zone 2, From Its Creators

Shirma_Akayaku

I might cancel my pre-order because I'm not sure if I should spend my money on this. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the first one because I really wanted it, but the second doesn't hold my interest nearly as much as the first. I think the first game provided what I wanted from it, but the second game won't do much for me since the first one gave me what I wanted.

Plus, I could use that money for something else. Oh well... -_-

Re: Rumour: Data Miners Find Evidence That Suggests New Splatoon amiibo Are Coming

Shirma_Akayaku

I don't understand why people everywhere are taking this as complete confirmation that the Squid Sisters will be an amiibo. People should just take the information as is and come to a logical idea.

Is it referring to Callie and Marie? Most likely yes (in-game files refer to them as that). Does this mean we will get them as amiibo? Maybe. We can't make the assumption that they will until there is concrete evidence.

Granted, I would personally like this to be real. I'd buy them in an instant (hopefully as a bundle).

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation

Shirma_Akayaku

@Melkac It is an option if people want it. However, if the EU version isn't affected to the same degree that the US is, that's also a better option

EDIT: There have also been small discussions about just ripping or copying the dialogue directly from the English version and just putting it in the Japanese version, so that can improve the fan translation.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation

Shirma_Akayaku

@Chaoz They still failed to patch the internet exploit correctly (so people can still get homebrew on 3DS), and as far as I know, there weren't any cases of people's systems being soft-bricked on 10.4 (but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I just haven't heard that happening). By the way, I'd say @CharleSketch is correct on Nintendo not doing a good job of stopping homebrew, in general.

Homebrew usage has been rising on 3DS (and Wii U is about to overcome a hurdle that could permanently enable homebrew, so expect more homebrew usage on Wii U too).

Anyways, like I said in a previous post, people could just get & use the fan translation for the game through homebrew incredibly easy, if they wanted to.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation

Shirma_Akayaku

This has gotten ridiculous. At this point it's not even worth getting the US version anymore (well at least for me). Hacking your 3DS has never been easier (you just scan a QR code, THAT'S LITERALLY IT), and you can just download the fan translation patch for the JPN version of the game and run it.

It's ridiculously easy to just import the game and run the translation patch.

Re: Nintendo Removes Infamous Drugging Scene From Western Localisation Of Fire Emblem Fates

Shirma_Akayaku

So the ridiculous Tumblr rumor that evolved into a full-blown mess, spreading false things like wildfire, actually ended up in removing this whole portion (aka censoring the game)... Why am I not surprised...

I had a feeling something stupid like this would happen. It is the internet after all, and once something is put out there and enough people are convinced, they will take it for what it seems to be on the surface.

EDIT: Okay, so here was the post that I saw on Tumblr, that talked about this controversy: https://imgur.com/gallery/Z46S9

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition Owners in North America Highlight Issues With Soundtrack USB Drive

Shirma_Akayaku

I'm gonna quote something someone posted online:

"I find it sadly hilarious that those of us who paid nearly $90 USD for this special edition are put through this DRM nonsense, not even for the entire OST, while anyone could easily download the entire 4 disc OST for free from somewhere random on the Internet.
I'm not endorsing pirating, but considering that pirating is possible, shouldn't Nintendo be nice to those of us spending actual money on their expensive collector's edition? Smh. Mine is coming in the mail tomorrow, looks like this thumb drive will just be a decoration; will have to find the actual OST by other means..."

After seeing these articles, yeah I'd rather pirate the music then deal with this (and it's a good thing I don't care for the OST, or else I would've done it).

Re: Video: The Game Theorists Explain Why We Should Go Easy on Bowser

Shirma_Akayaku

Okay, I saw a little bit of this video, not the full thing, but can someone tell me if MatPat even gave any evidence to support that Bowser is supposedly an orphan? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't hear him say anything to support that idea.

Now that I look back at GameTheory in the past, it seemed really good since it used a lot of math and science to support theories, but this doesn't really seem to be the case now. I'll admit it can be interesting to hear what he has to say, but this Bowser theory was just so.. ugh.. This is probably the first time I haven't finished watching "GameTheory" video.

Re: The Pokémon Company Sues Fan for Copyright Infringement, Demands $4,000 in Damages

Shirma_Akayaku

Well, I'm done with the Pokemon company after hearing this. First being extremely restrictive with their IP (amiibo), then this? Whoever is running the company must be crazy. I know they're within their rights to do this, but it's still just bad for everyone in this situation. As for the 'pokemon fan' who used the pokemon material to promote his events, he should have known he was playing with fire. The Pokemon company has usually been strict like this, so he could have at least been weary of his actions.

This whole situation is just terrible. I wish it was handled differently.

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against amiibo-Cloning Tool Amiiqo

Shirma_Akayaku

@daveh30 You can't do that with the amiibo figures. They have barriers and security measures put in place that prevent over-writing the data. If you used amiiqo on the Wii U, then used an amiibo figure to save it to, it won't work because the game has already modified the amiibo data on the system and it needs to write the amiibo data on the same NFC chip that it read from. The reason it's made like that is so that if you use multiples of the same amiibo (like two Mario amiibo), the game can correctly write the data to the correct amiibo since each NFC chip is unique on its own.
