What I don't like about it is the patch of grass supporting the whole thing. It just looks bent and flimsy to me. Otherwise, it looks great to me. Also, (I know many won't agree with me but) I like the fact that it releases in August 3rd. That might give me enough time to save up and buy this thing if I wanted. However, there might be more display cases out there that are better.
I just got Disney iInfinity 2.0 recently and it was underwhelming on the console version. The PC version was great though. I'm not getting this though since I just got the game.
But hey, at least you can get those power discs and see what you're getting. That might actually make the game more tempting for collectors and the general audience.
People always yell at Nintendo to patch it out. What they don't realize is that if it were patched out would take a very long time and it would be difficult because of the way the game's physics are. That would require a lot of time, especially since there's anti-gravity.
Everybody needs to face it. Firehopping will never go away completely.
@Toasty Well it really depends on a persons skill level and how much money they use on each level. If someone just wanted an extremely easy time with out much skill and no retries, then it'd be around $50 or more (depending on future content). However, if you're smart with your money and very skilled, you can spend little to no money at all.
I'm done with this game. Apparently, based on calculations from hackers who hacked this game, if you wanted to get an S Rank and catch every pokemon very easily, you would need to spend more than $50 in order to get enough Jewels to use on coins. I'm not saying you have to spend money to do this, but it's extremely easier this way.
QUICK TIP: On average, you get about 2 to 4 coins from the item box per race. Item balance has been tweaked, and you can be more offensive. This only applies to 200cc.
Here's a small tip for 200cc (and in general). Tap the brake button repeatedly while drifting to take turns tighter. Don't tap the brake too much or you might stop drifting completely.
@MasterGraveheart Same here. To me, it looks good to a certain extent, but it just feels like it doesn't represent the character's true personality (mainly Peach).
This is ridiculous of the teachers to do this. If they're targeting video games, why are they not targeting television or movies too? I'm just guessing these teachers are really uniformed or extremely biased. Doing this kind of thing will not change a thing. It's like the war on drugs and how it failed terribly.
(The ratings are there for a reason people! If others ignore that, there's not much we can do.)
Also, lets say child services ends up taking a child, who'd be willing to take care of that child? For all I know, foster homes are hell on earth, and if the parent was doing an adequate job of taking care of their child, why should we take their child away (or even arrest the parent)?
I know these teachers are trying to do the right thing, but police and child services aren't the way to go about this issue.
@Robotron2084 I totally agree. Plus, criminalizing or threatening parents with child services for buying or letting their child play a game that's not in their age rating is terrible.
Nishiya-san: In past installments, everyone would move separately through the board. As a result, the actions of the other players often didn't affect you.
This doesn't seem to hold too much truth. In the old Mario Party, you can interact with others with items, special spaces, and board events. Even though you have to wait for your turn, you still have to strategize and pay attention to others when it's their turn. I'll admit though, it did take a while for someone's turn to end.
Reading the rest of this interview, I can see more as to why people don't like this game (car mechanic aside). This game seems to have been super simplified for the audience, which in turn has lessened the amount of mechanics there are to this game. In a way, because it's more simplified, it can be easier to have fun, but because this game lacks depth in control or any real reason to play other than it's fun with friends, I don't see people becoming invested in this game for a long time.
I would type more, but I don't want to keep on ranting for a long time. I hope what I wrote makes sense to any who reads this.
@AlexOlney So we'll have to wait for the review score to show up? That's totally fine with me since I pay no mind to them at all. The score doesn't influence my decision, the writing does. I am glad that review will be updated when other features become available.
The only time I think I'd see Nintendo being on a mobile device is if it includes health related things, like a Wii Fit Pedometer app, or something that records your plays sessions. Besides that, I think Nintendo could expand into the mobile market, but only if it's done with a new original IP (not saying they should though).
@ThomasBW84 I know this is off-topic, but might we ever see a different review system in the future? It's probably been on the NintendoLife's staff minds for a while after that article about review scores.
I like amiibo, but there's a bit of an issue I thought of. If there's barely anything you can do with amiibo in games (content, etc), people say it doesn't do much and it's lacking. On the other hand, if amiibo has a lot of content in games, people will get the impression / feel like it's locked content or "paid DLC".
Amiibo party in Mario Party 10 is an example. Once people saw amiibo party, I saw a lot of them saying how it's like locked content. What they don't get is that this stuff is optional and isn't crucial to the game (even though it feels like locked content since people don't have it).
Can't people just create an account? Honestly, this is terrible. I've had Flipnote in the past and without the proper internet sharing capabilities, like Flipnote Hatena, it's slightly lackluster. People can be disgusting.
@NotEnoughGolds I cannot agree more. The reviews can go on for so long (even though they can be very detailed) that I take forever reading them. Nintendo Life's writers should take this into account.
@Robotron2084 I can agree with your sentiments for the most part. I do think harsher criticisms should be done more often for games that are completely broken or terrible, however, I do think there should be a post-review depending on the game. Say a game is great and many people like it. Later on the game is receiving DLC or updates that make the game even better which makes people like it even more. At that point, I would think post-review could be in order. Also, say a game is mediocre, but really good DLC or updates come for the game. A post-review could be done to highlight what's made the game better or worse, or what problems need fixing, etc.
One thing I will say about post-reviews though is that the original review should still stay and not be replaced so people can be weary of the games issues. After all, not everyone will have DLC or updates in place, so keeping the original review is a must.
@XCWarrior Oh thank goodness, I thought I wasn't the only who felt that way. The reviews can be extremely long, especially for huge content games, like Monster Hunter.
@DiscoGentleman What you said is probably true for the most part. Numerical scores will probably never go away entirely, but they might soon be rejected or over-shadowed by different review systems. One reason I think numbered scores might not go away is because people feel the need to put a game's value into "neat little boxes" so it's easier to comprehend. We should mostly know by now that's not how life works.
I'm in favor of ditching numerical scores assigned to games altogether, although Eurogamers new system works much better compared to the old one. I hope Nintendo Life will adopt a new system in place, like Gamexplain's or Eurogamer, or even their own unique system.
I've always wanted to get in to the Monster Hunter Series, but I'm not sure if I can get into it. Maybe not now, but I have to finish my other games first, like Hyrule Warriors.
I'm a little upset that my replays no longer work, but they weren't anything special. I'm still waiting on uploading custom stages for others to download on the Wii U.
The Super Mario Peach amiibo looks better than the Super Smash Bros. amiibo. I'm gonna get it since my sister might want it (although she likes the Smash Bros. one more).
Loyalty Promotion would be great! I loved the Digital Deluxe Promotion and we need another. Since we can expect a release date for the new 3DS, I won't vote on it.
Here's another thing he didn't mention about Master Core. If you don't knock off the Core in time, it will self destruct, but not before sending off five red waves that instantly KO's the player. In connection with his theory, it would seem that Sakurai would try to take down his creations with him and not allow the series to continue anymore. However, if the player has an extra life or dodges all of the waves, the Core will self destruct anyways, meaning that Sakurai himself would give it all up himself, acknowledging that it's over and that the series will continue without him.
@RupeeClock Same here. Even though I love Lumas, that change should not have been made since Twink is not Luma. They should realize that this is a remake and it should stay true to the original.
@JonWahlgren I don't know how I feel about the score still pending because of online play (even though I usually don't care about scores). I generally think that online mechanics are secondary components to the game since not everyone will play online. If you have a score / review and it includes online portions, does it still apply to those who don't have online support? I personally think that if you are going to add online portions to the review / score, I'd make it like a post-review or add a second score that includes online play.

Re: Weirdness: Find Out If You Are A Squid With This Splatoon Infographic
I guess Nintendo took that harsh criticism on their "Squid Kid" commercial and turned it into something else. Good on them.
By the way, didn't they do this kind of thing with the Wii U?
