Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

Shiner1776

I'm not linking a Nintendo app with my Facebook or Twitter, I do business on those sites. Annoying they'd go that route. It's also very disappointing that I can't have my 3ds/Miiverse friends on this service and I'm expected to initiate a friend request in person. I feel like they purposely gimped the features of this app so less people would actually use it for rewards/discounts.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight

Shiner1776

@TheRealThanos true, they have expressed the platforms will be separate in that way- but they will function with each other to at least some degree. Especially after they test the waters with the first 5 phone games. This prototype is meant to be a bit misleading, but there will be touch and it will be a part of a modernized concept of a Nintendo ecosystem.

Re: Star Fox Zero / Guard and Metroid Prime: Federation Force to be Playable at Wondercon

Shiner1776

Federation Force was designed in a way so it could run on old 3ds hardware, which unfortunately limits the art direction to a Lego game. The real problem I have with it, aside from it not being a proper metroid mood/setting, is the giant headed mii characters. Baby Lego characters playing paint ball in a space mall is what it looks like and it's not exciting or interesting. Especially since practically nobody in America uses their 3ds for multiplayer/online.

Re: Tomy Seems To Think Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Has Been Delayed For A Second Time

Shiner1776

They need to drop Sonic Boom, its an abomination of a beloved IP. The unnecessary design changes makes it look less familiar and more like a plastic Walmart product. Sonic used to have a stylish, otherworldly feel to it in the '90s. It used to be funky, the soundtrack alone of Sonic one through three was enough to convince you that it was "cool" and not just a product to sell to your little kid.
Sonic Boom is a bleak reminder of how far Sonic and Sega have fallen.

Re: Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems With Wii U Version, Hoping For Nintendo Hardware Announcement at E3

Shiner1776

Anybody remember being about twelve/fourteen years old and not having an adults income? If you and your siblings were going to get a console, you were going to get ONE and it had to last you for years.
This is where the whole "buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games" idea isn't going to work.
Not many people buy every console on the market, and it's ridiculous to expect them to do so. RPGs/serious games only on ps4/Xbox? Well let's just put a best buy in my basement, why don't we! Don't want to miss out right?

Some of you may remember holding out on buying a dreamcast because you knew the PS2 would have better specs and support.
The Wii U has become our Dreamcast, unfortunately.
Nintendo needs to actually try to compete. Out-wow us beyond what the ps4 and Xbox one are capable of.
I hope they'll get rid of ANY doubt for their next system. ANY doubt about specs and developer support (and the bad name/branding) will make it be nothing but a huge disappointment.

Nintendo should be #1 in video games, no exceptions.

Re: Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems With Wii U Version, Hoping For Nintendo Hardware Announcement at E3

Shiner1776

Nintendo has really limited themselves with the Wii U, which is now largely seen as a game system that essentially only plays MK8 and SSB.

The gamepad is cool, but if they cared about (1)having third party, (2) a long console life, (3) good sales and (4) a wider array of releases, maybe they would've made the Wii U on par with the rest of the video game market?
Tired of this stuff, Nintendo needs to step it up next time.

Re: Talking Point: The Fragility of Buying Download Games

Shiner1776

It's worth noting that P.T. was a free and unadvertised demo, so it's no surprise they'd reserve the right to change or remove it.

All visual/audio/intellectual property is merely licensed, because ownership would imply that you have manipulative rights to the work (make money off of it, show publicly, etc.)

Comparatively, Sony does an incredible job on digital purchases. The P.T. deal doesn't worry me, I'll still have it on my HDD forever and have a huge list of games to easily put on another system if mine disappears.

Nintendo, on the other hand, seems harder for me to trust surprisingly.
I buy mostly digital because I enjoy to travel without a best buy living in my luggage.

Re: Nintendo "Currently Investigating" The Idea Of A Region-Free NX

Shiner1776

I travel a lot and it's annoying to have the region lock on my 3ds. It should be a system that works for you everywhere, no matter where you're from. Want a new game while you're hanging out at the hotel? Nope, I have to wait till I get back to the US. It's dumb and outdated.

At the very least make Europe and America compatible with each other, it can't be that difficult.

Re: First Impressions: Tapping In With amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits

Shiner1776

@gage_wolf - I agree, this is an accessory fad that I wouldn't mind to see go away.

Amiibo is essentially a plastic software leech for people with collecting/hoarding issues.
If amiibo delivered a unique gaming experience, I'd have a differing opinion because I love toys and Nintendo, but this product line is unfocused and peripheral.

Re: Standard-Sized New Nintendo 3DS Photos Emerge On FCC Website in North America

Shiner1776

Whether they release it here or not, they already lost me.
I was sooo hyped at the end of last year, but coming this late sealed the deal for me. I'm over it. It's old news that the most invested people in NA have discarded by now.
I'll stick to my other new toys (Bloodborne) and hopefully they can realize that they're sacrificing momentum and faith for nothing. The butt-hurt is real and the will to care has passed.

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a Nintendo Direct to Set the Agenda

Shiner1776

I just want to know if they will release the standard N3DS or not this year(NA).

I hate to take it so personally, but my Wii U's hard drive is full, and I have an expensive digital library on my old original 3DS. I'm not progressing with these consoles further unless they announce the system that the other regions have(normal sized N3DS).
No digital, no physical, no external hd, no Amiibo, nothing until then.
I will continue to faithfully invest elsewhere until they win me back with a prompt release of the N3DS or a new innovation much further down the road.

Re: Poll: Which 2015 Nintendo Blockbusters Should Have amiibo Support?

Shiner1776

I like to turn on a game and just experience it. Amiibo is a materialist distraction from what nintendo should be focusing on: games.

Plastic figurines? Great. What nintendo's customers really want is an innovated and unique experience. Not a plastic collect em all scheme. It seems tedious to me, the content is already within the program. But if it makes them money, great.

But DLC should be DLC, and priced appropriately. Amiibo shouldn't be the only way to obtain various DLC.
Amiibo shouldn't feel like a key required to unlock additional content. We all know how much nintendo likes to lock things and how lame that gets.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Right to Take Its Time With 'Digitalization' in Gaming, But Should Revolutionise the eShop Now

Shiner1776

I'm still suprised there isn't a real account system.
Maybe they're gonna set up a paid service like PS+?

I've posted it before, I'm holding out on nintendo hardware and software until they adopt policies and solutions that tackle both consumer choice and account management.
Or they could just release the standard New 3DS in North America and then everybody would live happily ever after.

Re: Nintendo Held Back Western Launch Of New 3DS Due To Limited Stock

Shiner1776

Still a pretty vague explanation with no follow up. Is he talking about the smaller New 3DS, or the product line in general?

This is still the usual spiel. There's still no way we can be certain that they'll ever release the smaller size in North America, which is what they want us to think it would seem.

If Nintendo wanted to produce an appropriate amount of stock, why not make new models/merchandise obtainable through special order within a nintendo account linked to one's identity? Even charge extra, maybe a month's wait, with a logical limit(1) per customer and we wouldn't have issues like stock, region lock, operation faceplate and scalpers.
The value in their products would increase, since there would be a variety of sales from "custom" orders.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Shiner1776

@ShadyKnights Why? What's your motive of highlighting those on the other side of this issue as "whiny" and go so far as to say "it's just for the faceplates". How does your argument help either side of this issue?
Have you tried the standard N3DS?

This isn't even about the fans that feel ignored. This is about Nintendo being shady and less than honest. They could've easily provided clarity and rectify this situation, but instead they prefer hype and confusion.
If any other technology company pulled something like this coupled with region lock, they'd receive considerable backlash.
This also should make us consider the future of what Nintendo has in store for us. Are they going to continue to treat NA as a secondary market, with less support/interaction and incomplete product lines? Do I want a ton of my purchased games locked to such a product from this company?
I don't invest in anything where my options are restricted, and I won't support a company that doesn't keep my options up to date with what they're presenting everywhere else. This is about a lot more than just pieces of plastic. It's about Nintendo giving up on making their customers feel "safe".

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Shiner1776

@NodesforNoids nobody is saying that NOA is stupid, it's just they're unwilling to please a good portion of their North American consumers.

But seriously, to each his/her own when it comes to what you're saying. I doubt most dudes sporting a black/red 3ds consider themselves "image conscious adults". But we're not debating our outfits here. This situation is stupid and should never happen with such a well supported brand.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Shiner1776

@NodesforNoids "NA gamers that will buy the 'New XL' aren't looking for flashy children's toys."

That's silly. This isn't about assumptions or generalizations, it's about the options and the service that Nintendo provides. This is a botched release coupled with condescending PR.

Let's also not forget the female demographic that was looking forward to this N3DS model.
